Guest - Yup
My pocket buzzed and I backed out of the room, pulling out my phone, expecting Edward or Alice but sighing in relief when it was Jacob. I hurriedly accepted the call.
Hey, T, how did it go with Cullen? He asked cheerfully.
"It went well, Jake." I said, shutting the kitchen pantry door after me.
Cool, that's cool, I should tell Emily her advice worked. She's going to pull this over you for ages, he said.
"Yeah, um, Jake," I prompted and he went quiet.
You don't sound too good, what's up? He asked.
"It's Sorenson, Jake. He's alive." I told him quickly.
Yeah, we already knew that.
"No, I mean, he is alive…here. He's in my house."
There was a screeching sound and then a loud thud before his voice returned, sounding breathless.
He what?
"Did you just fall off the bed or something?" I asked, unable to help but giggle.
Not important; hold still, I'll be right there. He said.
"No, no, don't do that. Carlisle's here and so is Charlie. You can't show up too. Charlie's already on the edge about this and I think it's going to be a stressful couple of days for him until he gets to the bottom of this. We can't have him suspicious of us." I said quickly.
There was a pause.
Are you sure?
"Yeah, Jacob; besides Carlisle is here. Nothing's going to hurt me." I soothed.
Fine, but keep me posted.
"Of course," I said, hanging up.
Slipping out of the pantry, I saw Carlisle already ready to go.
"Come on, T, I will drop you at home and then go back to the hospital." He said and I quickly looked at Charlie. He nodded at me, placing an arm around me shoulders to bring me in for a one sided hug.
"Take care of yourself, Kiddo. I'll get you back home once I deal with this, ok?" he asked.
I nodded, wrapping my own arm around him. Little did he know; I wouldn't be coming back till I had dealt with this.
Edward stood at the open door with wide eyes filled with fury, his mouth pinched as Carlisle drove up to the house. He watched in calm silence as Edward flashed to the passenger side and scooped me out even before I could properly open the door.
He cupped my face in his large palms. "Are you ok?" he asked, hurriedly.
"Yes, Edward," I sighed, tilting my cheek harder against his skin and he wrapped an arm around me tightly, flashing us inside the house and depositing me on the couch next to Alice and Rosalie as he began to pace the living room.
Carlisle sighed.
"Son, pacing the width of this house is going to do us no good." He said.
I joined in.
"Yeah, all we can do, for now, is wait." I leaned back.
Edward stopped walking and looked at us. "He was in the house with you." he said slowly.
I looked up at him dumbly. "Yeah, so? He isn't a vampire and Charlie was with me. I think even I could've taken him on in the state that he was in." I argued.
"Why aren't you taking this seriously?"
"I am!"
"Enough!" Carlisle cut in.
Edward and I both looked at him as he frowned at us. "I have to go to the hospital now to take a look at Sorenson. Edward, calm down, Tulika was in no danger and I am sure that out of all of us, she knows when she needs to be worried. Besides, she called me as soon as she could. So, please, both of you, don't fight." He stood up, coming over to Esme to squeeze her hand.
"I will try to come back with news." He said before moving out the door in a blur.
There was silence in which Edward and I stared at each other in mere contrition from being told off before everyone slowly shuffled off to do their own thing. He let out a slow exhale before coming down to sit beside me.
"So, that happened." I muttered, making Edward chuckle.
"I think they're all just worried we'll start fighting again after all the effort we put in to get over our problems." He mumbled back.
"We won't fight." I reassured, reading out to entwine our fingers together and leaning my head against his shoulder.
"What do we do now?" he asked.
"We should call Stephen over."
"So…you guys…?"
I looked at Stephen out of the corner of my eyes to see him eyeballing me and flicking his glance to my boyfriend rapidly.
"What?"
"You know, you said you went to Chicago…so…?" he raised his eyebrows suggestively and Edward looked over at us with his gaze stony.
I immediately made a face.
"Don't even." I warned.
"Oh come on, I mean yeah, Bella and I already did it, if you wanted to know." He said.
"Stephen!"
"Tulika,"
"I didn't want to know but Bella already told me you doofus; and ok fine you're right but you're not getting any details. Now, I'd stop talking about it unless you want Edward to snap you in half." I said.
He looked back to meet Edward's stare before quickly nodding.
"Ok, so Sorenson, alive and not so well, in Forks General and we have absolutely no clue what happened to him."
I nodded.
"I have a question. Why are we even bothering? We did everything to try and help when he did nothing and now we're expected to do…what…?"
"He's our only lead to find out how we got here." I pointed out.
"He said he had no clue."
"Maybe he learnt something while he was away and got attacked so he had to come back."
"Oh, so what if that thing attacks us?"
"You will have us to protect you." Edward said finally, walking over and sitting on the arm rest of the chair I was sitting in.
I looked at Stephen to see him gaping up at my boyfriend before slumping down in agreement. "Fine," He looked off out the window.
Charlie growled to himself in frustration. The case of the damn old Librarian was more trouble than he was used to and the fact that he had turned up on Charlie's doorstep was no winning him anything in the evidence department.
"This is all that was on the Sorenson case, boss." He looked up at the officer who'd dumped the case box on the Sorenson murder case on his desk.
"I went through this time and time again; I doubt anything new slipped in." The officer said.
"Still, a new pair of eyes always helps." Charlie argued, prying the cardboard lid off.
"Have you talked to your girl about it?" The man asked.
Charlie glanced up sharply, "Bella?"
"No, the other one; she was in here during this case. She took it real hard, went through this stuff tons of times." The officer said.
"Wait," Charlie straightened up. "Tulika had been here, looking through this case and no one told me?"
"We figured you knew. Anyways, she stopped and moved on real soon."
Charlie pursed his lips.
"Thanks, I'll let you know if I need something else."
The officer nodded and walked out, shutting the door and Charlie pounced on the box, opening it and looking inside urgently.
What do you think is going to happen next?
Until Next time!
