What's up it up people! I am back. Well writing thing story anyways. This might be
I don't own Pokemon. (I just wish)
Thoughts: 'Hello'
Talking in the mind: 'Hello'
Speech: "Hello"
Moves: Brick Break
Place: Sinnoh Region
MT. Coronet
High above Sinnoh's highest mountain was a ruin that was said to be hundreds of years old with no known exact date of when it was build and when it was destroyed. The only known fact about the ruined structure was that it was dedicated to the Pokemon at Sinnoh. Even though it was excavated once it is hard to get to the top of this mountain considering that one has to face the harsh weather and the Pokémon that live here. The only ones who can reach the top without experience to much drain in themselves or their Pokémon were Pokemon trainers who at least have all of Sinnoh Pokemon League gym badge or near to having it all.
Now though high above of the mountain was a hooded man with two of his Pokémon on standby. The man looked at Western Sinnoh, here he saw Oreburg City, Eterna City, and Eterna Forest just within his line of vision from the top of the mountain. To the west he saw the contest city, the one and only Hearthome City, a town that was connected to Eterna City passing through one of Mt. Coronet's many caves, Emergrove town where Mr. Fuji now resides and Sinnoh's own type of Pokemon tower named the Lost Tower. From every direction the young man saw he saw Pokémon from the flying types that were like a speck of dust to the trainers and their Pokémon battling at the bottom of Mt. Coronet.
"Pika?"
Looking at his shoulder, he saw his yellow Pikachu tilting his head toward him. Meanwhile, his other Pokemon which was standing next to him grunted to him.
"Yeah I know Pika, C. I was just looking to see how beautiful this new place is and how similar it is to Kanto." Red said. Getting a nod from his Pokémon, he looked on and reflected what happened in the past week.
After dropping Gardenia off at her gym and him to the Pokémon center, he immediately went to bed for a few hours to get back his strength. When he woke up he had to refresh himself for the battle between him and Gardenia. With him prepping his team up, he was finally ready to set in motion his plan to beat the energetic gym leader.
Arriving at the gym he instantly asked Gardenia for a battle which was actually fun for his Sinnoh Pokemon where he had to used Snorlax, then Shieldon, and last Staravia to actually beat her strong Roserade. After the gym battle though, Gardenia was upset that she lost, but came up with a perfect excuse to get the Champion to take her on a date. Well to Gardenia it was a date, but to Red it was more of a victory or cheering up get together.
Then with his 'date' was finish he left with a good-bye to a slightly saddened Gardenia, though he did say he will come by he can which brought back her hyped personality. With that he left to continue his travel walking through route 206 and route 207 while at the same time battling Pokémon and trainers along the way that challenge him or his Pokemon. Now he was just looking over all of Sinnoh on top of Mt. Coronet after C flew him up here.
"G, I think it's time to go"' said his Pikachu though it was telepathically through his legendary Pokemon Mew giving him this capability.
"Let's go G." said the gruff voice of his Charizard with a content look even though the Pokemon was outside his environment for a fire-type.
"Yeh let's." The young man took to his fire-type's before the big lizard like Pokemon flew them down to the nearest civilization limit which was Hearthome City home of the Contest Gym leader Fantina, who was apparently a foreigner similar to Lt. Surge, Kanto's electric gym leader. Arriving outside of the city limits, Red balled C to allow him to rest after flying him from route 207 to Mt. Coronet and then to Hearthome City. As for now he just had to explore what the city was like and hopefully find the gym and challenge this ghost-type specialist gym leader. Walking around Hearthome City was like walking into a world with buildings and nature try to connect with each other.
Here he saw different accessories that were sold to contestants and items for Pokemon battle. He saw multiple people playing with their Pokemon and the likes, but the thing that took his attention was the large dome like building at the center of Hearthome City. The dome like building was as large as the Battle Frontier Dome that he heard of that a guy named Scott created for the best trainers. To him those Frontier Brain where nothing more than Elite level trainers, but Brandon or the Pyramid King as some people called him was the only one he saw important. Not only was he a brilliant tactician from his small one on one battle with the man himself, but he also caught the legendary golems. This fact alone brought him enough attention from Red considering that Red had the legendary birds of Kanto under his belt, while this man was also a legendary holder. Another thing that he noticed was that his Pokemon were powerful even his non legendary ones which can beat the Kanto/Johto gym leader and maybe beat the elite four's Pokemon. As for should Brandon and Lance should have a battle it would go either way considering that Lance was still trying to retake Red's title and Red barely beat Brandon with legendary golems when they had an unofficial battle against each other.
Looking on, he considered going into the building or not before he was stumbled by someone.
"Ouh! Excuse mu, I am sorry for hitt'ng you like that Monsieur." said a quiet feminine voice with a foreign accent he didn't know off. She wore a purple strapless dress with a star and multiple glitters spread around her dress. She had princess like gloves and two inch high heels and her purple hair forming a four oval-like star behind her head.
"It's alright Miss. I was just lost in thought." Red said.
"Ah! About what Monsieur." said the woman.
"Well whether or not I should go in to that building or not." Red said while pointing at the Contest Hall. Meanwhile the woman beamed and hooked to Red's arm
"Ah! Let's go Monsieur to Enlighten tu of the 'onderful contest are." said the purple dressed woman.
With that both Red and the woman left to the Contest Hall where the woman, who he later knew as Fantina, showed him how the contest were like and gave him a contest ribbon case in case if he needed it. For Red he was happy for the case thought he wasn't thinking of joining the grand festival, he was thinking of taking a few contest here and there and possibly win a contest just for the fun of it.
"Monsieur, if you want to join the contest you will have to wait for a few more days the contest should begin." Fantina said.
"Uhm. No, I was just sightseeing and trying to look for Hearthome City gym." Red silently spoke considering that they were now outside again and away from the loud Contest Hall. Apparently Pokemon Contest arena or stage where filled with contestants who are gossiping about the latest accessories and the latest famous people pairing such as the one from this Unova region that he heard about with their actors and trainers.
"Ou! You are looking for me then Monsieur!" Fantina exclaimed. Red on the other hand looked like this woman was nuts. This was the first contest and gym leader he met. Sure Pokemon contest were known in the Kanto region, but it was rare to see a pokémon trainer that had the style to have gym battle which were usually the brutal aspect of training Pokemon and have the grace and skill of a contestant winner.
"So your the gym leader?" Red asked hesitantly.
Fantina nodded and smiled.
"So Monsieur, do you want to have a gym battle now or later," she asked.
"Well, I don't want to impose and ruin your time with an-"
"Non-sense Monsieur, let us just go to the gym and have a fantastic battle" ( AN: think of how it sounds in French.)
With that the duo left to Hearthome City gym, which was like a a store house with many windows and a giant Drifblim on the roof of the building. Over all it was a more humble gym compared to Lt. Surge or the Viridian City gym which Blue was now the care taker off.
Heading inside, Red saw that the place had many lights. For a ghost-type gym leader one would thought that it would be dark like one doesn't see their path, but hey Morty had a unique of emphasizing the word 'ghost'. So he can't really say that Fantina's gym was bad, but not really unique with just the plain ground battle field. At least she could get a few ghost type Pokemon to freak out the challenging trainers like how Morty created his gym for.
"Alh!"
Breaking Red from his thought process, he instinct pulled out a pokeball out while Pika, who was still on his shoulder, cheeks sparked.
Right before him was a sight to see. Similar to Morty's Gengar, a trickster at heart, Fantina's Gengar was a trickster as well. This lead to Fantina's current predicament which was her getting confused and getting licked by her own Gengar.
Even though the Lick of a Gengar can cause paralysis, the Pokemon didn't put emphasis on hurting his trainer. This eased Red a bit.
"Arrêtez!" (Stop!)
Obeying his trainer, the Gengar stop and finally looked at his trainer's companion. The Pokemon looked at the young man next to Fantina. To the Ghost Pokemon, the man was like those pretty boys that his trainer always shows Mismagius and talks about "hot" or "cool." Though when the man looked at him it was totally a different matter. Compared to the other trainer that were either young or have a few years of experience the Gengar knew that this man was more than just a pretty boy.
Looking at his trainer the ghost-poison type spoke.
"Gen Gengar, Gen Gen!"
Looking slightly baffled, Fantina looked at her ghost type then back at the young man that she brought to the gym. She understands what her Pokemon wanted, but still it was shocking that her humorous ghost-poison type wanted to battle a trainer he barely know. It usually was the trainer that battled the gym leader, not the other way around.
Speaking up she said, "Well, this is shocking."
Red looking at her with a questioning face, she continued.
"Well... usually my Gengar doesn't really want to battle and is usually want to fight first to get it over with, but now it looks like it wants to battle for real. Do you know why this might be Monsieur?"
Red thought about it, but the only thing that he could think about was that how some Gengar are quiet territorial in the wild and usually are leaders of a pack or group of ghost types.
"I think I know why," Red said softly breaking away from his thought process.
"Yes, Monsieur?"
"Your Gengar might have felt a territorial or a threat to its dominance. And if I presume that this Gengar is like the leader of your ghost-type am I correct?"
"Oui, Monsieur." Red looked confused at the answer and Fantina blushed in embarrassment.
"I mean yes, Monsieur."
"Oh. Thank you. Anyways your Gengar might have felt my 'aura' if you will and found a trace of my own Gengar's Scent and might have felt threaten even though my Gengar is with me right at this moment." Red said in his ever soft voice which was never used for screaming, well unless it was massive argument with Blue which usually lead to shouting which in itself is rare.
Looking wide eyed, Fantina was astonished, not only was this man before her a Pokémon trainer slightly interested in Pokemon Contest, but he also had ghost-type Pokemon that even in far distance result to her own ghost-type to feel threaten by its dominant scent.
Calming down, Fantina said "Thank you, Monsieur for this insight. You must be strong to have my Gengar act like this, yes?"
'You have no Idea', Red thought while his Pikachu nodded to Red's thought process.
"As for now you have found your first contestant!" Fantina said while twirling around in a dance.
"Now we will have to battle for the beauty of ghost types!" she said.
With that she called out the referee for the Pokemon match and went to her side of the battle field. Meanwhile, Red took the competitor side of the field looking slightly interested. Compared to the other gym battles that he had experience, he usually doesn't have a clue what the gym leaders Pokemon might be, but this was also a nice change. Another plus that he saw was that now he could finally see what a ghost-type Pokemon could do in Sinnoh and what type of move he can teach his Gengar at Mr. Fuji's small ranch area at Emeragrove town.
With the referee up and ready he said, "Thanks. So the battle between Red the challenger and Fantina the gym leader is about to begin. Each side can have three Pokémon and the battle is over if all the Pokemon of either side are defeated. In addition only the challenger is allowed to do any substitutions."
With that Fantina nodded at her Gengar, who was already out, to come to the field. Giddily the Gengar floated to the battle floor ready to give it his all.
Meanwhile Red was contemplating. For one thing, he knew he couldn't send C, his Charizard, or Pika because they were over kill, so this left to his Sinnoh caught Pokemon. He knew for a fact that he could use his Gabite since it learned to have the move Bite. He could also used his Staravia since it was one of the strongest second only to his Gabite. Now it was either his newly evolve Shieldon or his Munchlax. But before could mentally choose he was interrupted.
"Sir," the Referee said.
Looking up Red saw that the Referee was waiting for him to take his Pokémon out, he signed.
"Staravia, it's time." Red calmly said. With that he manually opened his Pokémon's pokeball and pop out the Staravia.
"Star~" screed the normal-flying type.
"Eh! Monsieur are really going to used this Pokemon to battle with mua?" Fantina asked. Which she received a nod. She signed. Maybe he was just one of those proud young trainers.
She said in sad voice, "Gengar used Shadow Punch on Staravia!"
"Quick attack."
With that both Pokemon reached each other with their specific move with Gengar's hand glowing and Staravia almost cutting air. With this Staravia pass through Gengar.
"Monsieur, your move won't hurt my Pokemon, but I can hurt yours ple-" she was cut from her comment when Gengar's Shadow Punch pass through Staravia.
"Peck."
Before long Staravia was dominating the battlefield with multiple hits on the Gengar. The move if one looked closely would have been considered the Drill Peck move with how powerful the Peck was, but it was to slow, though it did show sighs, from what Red could see.
Fantina was panicking slightly; she never had this experienced before. Usually when she battled trainers, the trainers were well informed about the pokémon that she used and usually try to have a counter for it. This resulted to her having to fight from dark types to dragon types, but she never had to fight with a normal type before. What made it worst was that the normal-flying type was actually winning, against her ghost type.
"Gengar used Sucker Punch to get Staravia off you!"
"Double Team." Red Calmly said while Fantina was put off of how calm he was. It was as if this trainer knew that he would win this match.
Following what their trainers asked for them, both Pokemon went to action. When Gengar was about to punch Staravia the pokémon turned into an illusion letting the flying type to escape from said punch.
"Double Team up close and then Aerial Ace." said the mysterious Kanto Champion.
With that the normal-flying type was using Double Team up close to Gengar which caused the Pokemon to flinch back a bit with how close these illusions were to him and how real they might be.
"Gengar try to find the real one!" Fantina said desperatedly.
This got the ghost-poison type to ease up a bit and tried to look around, but with so many images at close, he was block from seeing which one was real. Meanwhile Staravia was already in Aerial Ace mode with Air getting parted from the sharp point of the beak and the angled body of the bird. With Gengar being occupied by the images the Pokemon didn't realize what hit him before the ghost type was drag across the field by the powerful and critical Aerial Ace.
"Gengar!" Fantina called out to the unconscious Pokemon after its beating from the Starling Pokemon.
"Gengar is unable to battle, Staravia wins!" shouted the Referee who too was slightly shock to how one sided the battle was even if Staravia wasn't fully evolve. The Referee wondered how powerful this Flying type would be if it evolve and what type of training that this trainer give his Pokemon.
"Gengar return!" Fantina spoke. She was amazed that a normal-flying type beat her ghost-poison type with little damage. Looking at the trainer, she knew this man was good and should be treated as if he was an accomplished trainer starting from now on or she would lose every time she battled him. She continued to stare at him until he called his Staravia back while his Pikachu on his shoulder didn't said anything, but to Fantina it looked like it was lazing around and looking bored. Though she wondered why.
"Monsieur, that was a fantastic battle, let's continue, shall we?" which she got a nod for.
"Come out my Misdreavus and show the beauty of being a ghost!" Fantina said while twirling around looking rather silly to Red.
With that Mt. Silver's most famous ghost-type was in the field and poor Fantina would not know what would hit her. Calling out his Munchlax, he used his small capability to talk to Pokemon Psychically through this process. Apparently when one is bored in Mt. Silver and you caught the strongest Psychic legendary in the world it was beneficial. Mewtwo unlocked Red's capability to have a psychic link to Pokemon similar to Saffron City gym leader Sabrina whose Psychic power and mind ability came from an accident with her father's Psychic type hitting her as a child. Now though it was time to used this ability of his against Fantina.
'Munchlax,'
The pokémon in the field was startled a bit which confused the gym leader and the referee and both of them why was the Pokemon jump.
'Munchlax, it's me Red. I need you to stay calm and follow what I said.'
'What, Food, wait. Red! Master!'
'Stop! Don't call me Master, just Red or G. I don't like it when I am called Master by any Pokemon in my team that includes you Munclax.'
'Sowwy! Do you have food? I am hungry.' said the Big Eater Pokemon.
'Focus Munchlax. I will give you food after we win this. For now just listen to me before the referee starts this match.'
Outside the Referee was trying starting the match without trying to interfere with what both trainers were doing with Fantina trying to talk to her Misdreavus on the battle plan and Red just looking at his Munchlax.
"Uh. Gym Leader Fantina and Challenger Red let's continue this please." said the nervous Referee. Though it did got a nod from both participants, though Red still had his eyes on Munchlax. With that Fantina started it off.
"Use Pysbeam!"
The ghost-type followed through, but before the Psychic move could hit, Munchlax waddled out, but he wasn't hurt completely his arm. This shocked both Pokemon and Trainer. It was rare to be able to dodge a Psychic move, but this Munchlax was able to do that.
"Munchlax Tackle then Brick Break." Red stated out loud.
'What is he up to?' Fantina wondered in her thoughts.
"Misdrivous I want you to levitate. Incase anything happens."
With that both Pokemon followed what their trainers asked with the ghost-type floating while the Normal type was aiming the Tackle at said ghost-type.
Before long the two Pokemon hit...
The Tackle hit its mark on Misdreavus and the Munchlax instantly went to used Brick Break and in such a close distance the glowing hand of the Munchlax hit its mark again this time it was more than just a hit it was a pounding.
"Misdr~!" cried the ghost type before it was knocked out from a critically hard hit from a right hook from the Munchlax.
"Misdreavus come back!" cried a shock Fantina and called her Pokemon back. The match went so fast that it was crazy. It took only two moves to hit her Pokemon and bam Red won this battle again. How strong was this player?
Looking at Red who was petting the head of the Munchlax after the win, she asked, "How?"
Red hearing her looked back at her then looked at the shock Referee and stated, "Psychic."
"What? Monsiour."
"I used my Psychic ability to talk to my Pokemon in battle to get them to understand in foggy scenario or something that hinder their sight or sound. I talk to their minds to calm them down and to win some battles. Though I rarely used it since it is to taxing." Red stated. He knew how taxing talking in Pokemon minds were in battle. It usually gives both him and the Pokemon more stress in the long run with this ability. Though outside of battle it was easier to handle and less stressful than using it during battle. He did wonder how Sabrina manages to fight only talking to her Pokemon in their mind without speaking at all.
"WHAT! Monsieur, are you telling me you could talk to Pokemon in their mind and understand their thoughts." Fantina said amazed by this trainer. Not only was he an excellent trainer, but he was also a Psychic who may understand what Pokemon are speaking.
"Yes."
Still dumfounded the Referee and Fantina just stared at this trainer. Who was this man? And how did his get this ability.
"Uh. Misdreavus is unable to battle. Munchlax wins!" said the amazed Referee. This was his first time to have this unique type of battle before.
Seeing that it she only had one Pokemon left. Fantina called her Drifblim out even though she knew she wouldn't win this at least her Pokemon could try and battle it out with this almost legendary trainer which was partly accurate, since Red was already a legendary trainer that set up the standard of Kanto's Elite Battles.
"Drif~" called out the balloon ghost-type.
"Gabite," Red stated while taking out his Pokémon's pokeball.
"Gabite~" roared the Cave Pokemon
"This just got real." stated the Referee. Right before was two Pokemon that were polar opposite. One that live on the ground and dominated caves and the other lived on air and travel far without rest.
"Battle Begin!" Shouted the Referee.
"Drifblim use Ominous Wind!" Fantina cried out.
"Dragon Rage," said Kanto's 'official' Champion.
With that both Pokemon followed up on their moves with Drifblim creating purple like wind aiming for Gabite. While Gabite aimed a torrent of flames and power similar to flamethrower, but hotter to Drifblim.
BOOM!
The Moves cancelled each other, but again both trainers were not going to let this down.
"Ominous Wind again!"
"Dragon Rage Again," Red stated again, though it was a bit rushed.
Again both moves cancelled each other out.
Fantina in a desperate move called out, "Drifblim again used Ominous Wind and add more power to get this Gabite to listen to moue!"
Red thinking fast knew that Dragon Rage wage wasn't going to be as powerful as Ominous Wind at full blast so he had to think fast.
'Gabite Listen! It's me Red! I want you to use Slash on Drifblim! I want it weak though then follow up with Dragon Claw!"Red thought through his broadcasting ability to the Gabite who nodded.
With that the Drifblim waved it's Ribbon like arms and threw a puwerful gust of Ominous Wind at Red's Gabite. Meanwhile Gabite head straight to the Ominous Wind with his arms and claw turning white. It was too late for Fantina to call back the move, before Gavite was right in front of the Blimp Pokemon and powered up a powerfull Dragon Claw. The claws of Gabite turned Purple before it slashed through the ghost-type in a 'x' like shape.
"Drifblim!" Fantina cried out. Her Pokemon was knocked out from the up close and personal attack of the Dragon-Ground type.
"Drifblim is unable to battle, the challenger Red wins!" Shouted the Referee who was enlightened by this battle of wits, power, and revelations.
With that Red recalled his Dragon-Ground type and walk to Fantina who was as well walking back to Red.
When they finally where close they shook hands.
"Monsiour that was an excellent battle! I now present to you the Relic Badge. This badge signifies that you have beaten me at my best and has earned my interest in Pokemon battle." Fantina said with an aloof attitude even though she lost.
"Thank you." Red said and took out his Pokemon badge case and put the badge next to Gardenia's Forest badge.
Looking at Fantina, Red said.
"You should learn other battle styles."
Taken back Fantina asked, "Huh? What did you say Monsieur?"
"I said you should travel a bit and see different trainers and how they do battle everyonce in a while. This way you could get to see different trainers' way of training and battle technique that may help your Pokemon battles with this gym." Red stated.
"Uh..." Fantina was astounded and her mind slightly shut down a bit.
With that Red left the confused and astounded gym leader and head out the door before the gym leader was broken out back of her thoughts.
"Maybe he's right," she said before she noticed that she was the only one here and somehow her Referee disappeared somewhere.
'Oh, Well. Though I do wonder how far you would go Monsieur.'
Crap, my mind hurt. So yeah here is my longest battle scene in this story so far so yeah lets go with it. This might be my longest chapter yet in all my writing with the fact that I am less than a hundred words from five thousand words.
Anyways as you can see I put Fantina's Battle as vivid as I could and I put my own experience of battling her with some of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Episodes. Fantina's Misdreavus didn't evolve yet so Ash is a good three to two weeks behind Red. Also in the Pokemon Anime they never said what caused Fantina to travel for a bit so I put it as my own background of why Fantina didn't battle Ash yet before she finish her travel.
Okay heads up people. As for an input if people don't know this already, this Red is the generation 1 hair style and so one like his eyes, black hair, and his cloths. The only thing that is different is I am using the generation 3 story line-ish. SO, don't get confused why he knows of the battle frontier and Hoenn. Also Red knows of Johto since he is the Champion of both Kanto/Johto League and the Indigo League since it is a combination of Johto and Kanto.
Also in addition do you think that the Anime gyms are lamer than their game gym counter part since to it looks like it. Since in the anime it usually the same field, the same gym style, but I do like it when they change arena like Candice's gym. Though the Pokemon League battles in the Anime are interesting though.
So yeah I think that it. Wait one more. Cynthia is showing up next chapter.
BYE!
