phone conversations
Do you know anything more about your daughter's location? a husky voice asked over the phone.
"All I know is what they've told me and that's, that she is safely in custody. Jason replied. He had not seen anymore agents since they had taken all of Saber's junk.
That could mean anything, and since she's refusing to see you there isn't any sort of simple way to keep tabs on her. The voice on the other end sighed in frustration. She's a failed project. We need to get her back before they can learn too much from her.

The things being said on the recorded phone conversation between Saber's father and the unknown male were not only entirely incriminating, but in every way more than disturbing to everyone listening.
"Has anything else raised suspicion?" Natasha asked.
Steve was commanding the small unit that was keeping track of everything that Jason did.
"He's been meeting with a man at this location every night at six sharp." Steve said giving her a file. "Two agents will be going tonight to see if they can bug them."
"Send copies of this and the tapes to Fury. Clint and I are flaying back for two or three days to have a word with Saber, and get a few updates if you want to come with us."
"I might." Steve said, "are you going to tell her about her father?"
"I'm not looking forward to it." Clint sighed entering into the room and the conversation.
"Do you really think it'll be that bad?" Steve asked noticing Natasha pale and the archer flinch in response. "I mean if you just handle it calmly and peacefully she shouldn't react too badly."
"You weren't there the last time that she had a freak out." Clint pointed out, "and all of that was just because she saw a picture of the wearehouse on the monitor. How bad it could get when we tell her that her father arranged her kidnapping, and is working with these people to terminate her is what I'm concerned about."
"Then how are you going to do this?" Steve asked.
"Nat?" Clint asked turning to face his partner.
"I'll be meeting with Saber alone in a calm setting." The assassin explained, "We'll have more girl time...she was able to stay calm during that."
"Whatever you say." Steve said not really sure what had just been decided, but feeling as though he should brace for impact.
Saber had requested to go on a shopping trip at breakfast the next morning. Well, she hadn't made a request more like said that she needed to go out for a bit and that she had to go alone.
Thor had originally refused insisting tat he or another agent accompany her, but she remained firm.
"I have to take care of some embarassing private lady business." She explained, "I think I can handle an afternoon out, and I have Fury's number should something happen."
"But..." He was about to protest again.
"come on Thor, I've been on my own for a long time I know how to stay out of trouble. And I don't plan on fleeing the country or anything, I just really need to do this, and I'd be more at ease doing it alone."

"She's where?" Fury asked when Thor had arrived on the airship after reluctantly allowing Saber to go.
"She said that she had embarassing female stuff to do, and that she'd be more at ease on her own." The God explained. "I got the impression she just wanted a bit of freedom."
"It makes sense, and she knows that we can easily track her." Hill said pulling up any cammeras that were at Saber's current location.
"Why'd she go to the hospital?" Fury muttered, "we have medical care here."
"Well, my guess is that the embarassing thing had something to do with her monthly period, and she didn't feel comfortable talking to someone who would end up telling us everything about her medical history and other things women young girls have a difficult time discussing." Hill sighed at the clueless men.
"Her what?" Thor was confused.
"I'll explain it later." Hill sighed again.
"Well, let's just forget that she went in there, and Hill look into getting a copy of whatever she puts on file." Fury ordered.
"There won't be one..."
Everyone turned to see that Tony and Bruce had arrived.
"What do you mean there won't be a file?" Agent Hill asked.
"Aside from whatever experimenting was done on her Saber is perfectly healthy." Bruce explained. "So even with all of the constant fear and running she went to get a regular check up as needed."
"She's not doing this the normal legal way..." Tony said, "She's been using her powers."
"She did say that she could manipulate people...she could be making them check her out, then keeping all the evidence for herself and burning what they would keep on file, and then making them forget her."
"No paper trail." Fury muttered both annoyed and impresses by her resourcefulness. "We'll see if agent Romanov can get some information about it from her" He added another thing to the other woman's to do list.

After about an hour and a half Saber left the hospital and hailed a taxi. The taxi took her to a pharmacy. They all assumed she was checking on a prescription.
"Hack it." Bruce told Tony.
"Reading my mind Doc..." Tony grinned.
In about four minutes the former playboy had pulled up the exact screen with the information on Saber's prescription.
"It looks like she was prescribed three different medications." Bruce read the screen, "one is a contreceptive, a months worth. Another is for depression and the last is normally for really bad pain."
"The birth control is the only thing that I can justify her needing." Hill said when all male eyes turned to her.
"Natasha can handle it. Our girl is on the move again." Tony got their attention back on the screen with the tracking display on it.

This time Saber walked all the way for three blocks to use the payphone passing up at least five perfectly good ones along the way.
"Yeah...no clu why she did that." Tony said.
"Is there a way you can tap into her conversation?" Fury asked.
"From what I'm seeing she's calling long distance, so if she's contacting a home or cellular phone the yeah, but it'll take a minute." Tony answered pushing a bunch of buttons on the computer.
Tony managed to set up the audio tap, complying not because it was an order, but because he was dying of curiosity at what his new favorite person was up to.

Hello? A woman answered the phone.
"Hey, it's me." Saber answered back.
My God! It's been so long! The woman sounded as though she were in tears. Where are you? Are you alright?
"Hey,hey...calm down." Saber chuckled. " I have some moderately good news. Okay?"
Alright. The woman replied.
"To begin with it's been almost two and a half months since I've had to run." Saber started, "but the really good news is that I may have found somewhere safe."
Oh thank God! The woman gushed happily, can you tell me anything else?
"Only that I couldn't be more safe." Saber told her, "So...how is he?"
He's been asking about you...I think he's beginning to loose hope that you'll be coming back for him.
"Is he still at daycare?" Saber asked.
Paul just left to go and get him.
"Well share the good news, pass on my love. And I'll call back this weekend so I can speak to him." Saber told the woman.
Be safe sweetheart. The woman said before the line went dead.

Saber hung up the phone and turned to leave colliding with a firm chest.
"You know somewhere in the back of my mind I knew that you guys would be watching." As Clint steadied her on her feet since it was him that she'd crashed into. "Didn't think that I'd get an escort service though.
Behind Clint stood Natasha, Tony, and Steve. They were all thinking random nonsense so she was confused and very suspicious.
"So what brings you guys out into the city today?" Saber asked one of her eyebrows arching.
"You and I have a lot to talk about." Natasha said, she wasn't really looking forward to this little chat so her mind was going through every swear she knew in every language that she knew, though she had begun to repeat a few of them.
Clint was going over vantage point mathematics. And Steve...Saber couldn't really figure out what was up with him since he was going over the constitution, or what she thought was the constitution anyway.
"I'm hoping to run a few ideas by you." Tony said his thoughts focusing on new suit designs and other science stuff she didn't understand.
"So...whose going first?" Saber asked.
"If agent Romanov doesn't mind I'd like to tag along on your little pow-wow so I can monitor your brain activity." Tony explained.
"Fine." Natasha sighed, "you can pay for lunch Stark.O
"Alright, lead the way ladies." He grinned.
"Do we have a trace on that call?" Fury asked.
"Just that it was somewhere in Rhode Island." Maria replied, "who do you suppose it was?"
"they sounded concerned so a relative or a close friend perhaps." Bruce suggested.
"Look into it." Fury said dismissing Maria. "Tell me what you discovered ."
"Have yo ever heard of a chemist by the name of David Muller?" Bruce asked, "Well, he was a wannabe anyway, never became legit."
"No, what did he do?" Fury asked taking the file the doctor was passing to him.
"He went off the deep end to put it simply." Bruce shrugged, "he flunked out of medical school, and had no merit as a scientist because he worked with illegal substances and tested on humans."
Fury nodded for him to continue.
"Twelve years ago he killed fourteen young women under the guise of an experimental fertility drug, and was assumed to have died in the explosion that occurred during the raid." Banner continued.
"Says here that he primarily focused on he mind." Fury read from the file.
"He wanted to prove that humans could be reprogrammed using a simple injection rather than relying on hypnosis ." Bruce clarified, "He had no success."
"You are certain that this is his work?" Fury asked.
"That or he hadn't been alone i his persuits." Bruce shrugged.
"At least we now have more than one lead to go on." Fury said.
AN: I have decided to post this story as a part one and part two sort of set up. It just keeps getting longer with all of the twists and turns and I don't write fifty chapter stories since it makes me feel like it looses it's organization. so this is all part one and it will be finished in just a few more chapters part two is already eight chapters written so don't freak out thinking you'll have to wait weeks to see what happens next.
