By the time I got to my old house, I was starting to regret my decision. It was freezing cold outside now, and I couldn't see three feet in front of me. Once at my house, I grabbed the fence surrounding it and used it to find my way to the backyard. I slowly climbed over the fence. My eyes closed as my mind struggled to recall where my mom kept her medicine, but it seemed like it was so long ago.

Finally, I came to the decision to check the bathroom first. I prayed that the medicine wouldn't be in my parents' bedroom, because then they would catch me for sure.

Luckily, the back door was unlocked. I opened it silently and took one step inside. It was weird how I had to sneak into my own family's house. My feet took another step, gently, because someone could still be awake. I tiptoed to the staircase and almost gasped. The television was still on in the living room. My eyes glanced around, looking for whoever was watching it.

There wasn't anyone in there. Were they in the bathroom? As I looked in the kitchen, there was a loud breathing noise. I turned to look back into the room, to see Poison asleep on the floor next to the couch. He was covered in a dark shadow cast by the couch; it's no wonder he wasn't visible before. I sighed in relief before continuing up the stairs. Even if my sneaking around made any noise, I was almost positive Poison wouldn't rat me out.

I went into the bathroom and checked all the cabinets. I could only find a few syringes. But where was the morphling? Next, I silently checked the kitchen and the basement and even some random closets on the main floor. But the morphling was nowhere in sight. I knew it would be in their bedroom. My feet stopped outside their door. I took a deep breath and opened the door.

My parents were sleeping as far apart on the bed as possible. There was enough light coming from outside that I could see okay. I checked their dresser. Nothing. There was barely any other furniture in their room, so where else could I look? My hand almost slammed down on the dresser hard before I remembered I couldn't be caught.

I was beginning to lose hope. Where else could he morphling be? Maybe she threw it away. It would be just like her to throw away expensive medicine that no one in 12 could afford. I sat down on the floor, angry and sad. Gale was going to suffer if I couldn't find the morphling.

Just as I was about to slip downstairs, something caught me eye. A glint, a small shine coming from under the bed. I lay on my belly to see under the bed. Sure enough, there was the morphling. My hands grasped the box and pulled it out the box. I ran down the stairs and out the door as fast as possible. Putting my head down against the strong wind, I pushed forward. I had to get back to Peeta's house. To give Gale his medicine.

I would raise my head occasionally to see if I was still on the right path. As soon as my head rose, it was forced back down. The winds were getting very strong, and the snow was so cold it burned my face. I began to wish I had grabbed a scarf.

I forced my chin up to see that my destination was only a few houses away. My legs started to move quicker, almost there. Once in Peeta's yard, my whole body collapsed into the snow. The walk from Peeta's house to my old house was longer than I expected. My body was aching from pushing through the blizzard, but I only had a couple more feet to go. Using as much strength as I could muster, I stood up. Most of me just wanted to fall right back down again, but, instead, I used the momentum to propel myself forward. My elbows hit the door, which allowed me to stay straight up with the wind blowing in hard gusts against my back. My fist knocked twice.

Haymitch opened the door, and the wind blew me in so I hit the ground. I struggled to roll over, but I still did. My eyes could barely open; still, I looked at Haymitch.

"I got them," I called out between breaths. I saw Peeta look around Haymitch to see my shivering form.

"What the hell happened to you?" Peeta cried out, pushing past Haymitch to help me up. He pulled me to my feet fiercely. His hands were warm as they set themselves on my cheeks. Tears squeezed out of my crinkled eyes.

"I told you I was just going home," I said through chattering teeth.

"You got what?" Haymitch asked, completely ignoring that I was freezing to death. I held up the box weakly. Katniss, who had been allowed back into the house, rushed up to me. Her eyes gazed hungrily over the box, obviously knowing what was inside.

"It's my mother's. She… said you could have it for Gale," I lied. My voice shook as I lied, but everyone dismissed it for being caused by the cold. Haymitch tried to get the box out of my hands, but my fingers were basically frozen to it. Mrs. Everdeen walked up to me and took my arm.

"Follow me," she said in a monotone. She led me to the kitchen and put my hands under the water. The water wasn't hot, or maybe my fingers were just numb. She began to work my fingers off the box under the water until it came free. I wiggled my fingers painfully.

"Thank you," I murmured, my lips still quivering. Mrs. Everdeen nodded.

"Go sit by the fire, and try to warm up," she instructed before returning to Gale with the box.

"Well, you're welcome," I muttered. Part of me knew I shouldn't be sassing the lady who was going to heal my… friend, but she acted like she didn't even care about what happened to anyone. Maybe it was just an act. I knew she had many people she loved die. Maybe she's just hoping that if she pretends she's strong, she could be strong.

Peeta led me to the living room, where he had already started a fire. He sat down next to me on the floor and covered me with a blanket. After a moment of silence, he moved his head so that I was forced to see him.

"You do care for him, don't you?" Peeta asked.

"No, not really," I answered.

"Why else would you go into a blizzard just to get some pain medicine?" he asked. I was shocked, mostly because I didn't have an answer for him.

"I don't know," I muttered. "He looked like he was in pain."

Peeta simply nodded. Prim came and sat next to me. Katniss stayed by Gale's side. Haymitch stated that he would be going home and before anyone could stop him he was out the door and into the blizzard.

"I should've stopped you," Peeta said. It had been half an hour since I had been out, and I was still shivering. Peeta had brought me a couple more blankets and even a pair of his socks.

"You wouldn't have been able to."

"You're right. You're too stubborn," Peeta laughed. His hand extended in the air, almost like he intended to stroke the side of my face. But Peeta thought better of it, and his hand dropped to his side.

Prim's head fell into my lap. She was sleeping.

"Oh no! Prim!" Katniss yelled. She rushed over and tried to wake Prim up, "We'll never get you home like this. Wake up!"

"I have a spare bedroom. You guys should stay here. Gale might need something," Peeta said.

"Are you sure, Peeta? We don't want to bother you anymore than we already have," Katniss said, looking down at her shoes. Peeta laughed.

"If I wasn't sure, I wouldn't have offered. Here, let me help you get Prim into the room," he said, standing up. He picked up Prim and led Katniss to the room. I pulled the blanket closer to me. Peeta had left again. A shiver ran through my body. Why was I still so cold? I should've been warmed up by now.

"You should be better in a little while. Don't worry," Mrs. Everdeen called from the other room. I saw her walk the same way Katniss and Peeta did, and I was left completely alone. I peeked back at Gale. His back was bandaged up, and he was in a deep sleep from the morphling. I stood up and walked over to Gale, still holding the blanket around me.

I stood watching him. I didn't know what I would say if he was awake, but for now I just watched him. I wished for the peace that I saw in his face. Footsteps were loud on the steps, and Peeta appeared at the bottom of the stairwell. After glancing at Gale and me, he walked over slowly.

"And now you're watching over him," Peeta said, sounding so confused it was almost painful. His hand cupped my chin and lifted my face to his, "How can you tell me you don't care for him?"

"I don't care for him," I said. I took a step back so that Peeta's hand dropped away from my chin. I wondered why Peeta was so persistent that I had feelings for him? But then again, why was I still here watching over Gale? I wasn't as distraught as Katniss, but I was still scared for Gale. But… why?

"Are you going to stay overnight as well?" Peeta asked in a tiny voice. I peered at him from the corner of my eye and saw a blush on his cheek.

"I might stay a little longer to make sure Gale doesn't need anything, but then I'll go home," I responded.

"I mean, you're welcome to stay here too," he said a little louder. I shook my head.

"I would just be in the way."

"No, you wouldn't. Really…"

"Peeta, it's fine," I said, feeling a little annoyed and overwhelmed. Why was he trying to be nice to me? There were no more cameras. It would be better if he just left me alone. He grasped my hand for a second. Once he let go, he took a step away from me.

"Alright, alright. Goodnight then," he said, rushing up the stairs. As soon as he was gone, my shoulders drooped. My heartbeat went down. It was starting to feel natural, having my heartbeat go up around Peeta.

Gale's eyes fluttered open for one moment. He looked confused. "Ivy?" he asked.

"Yeah. I'm here," I said simply. And then his eyes instantly shot closed, and Gale was sleeping again.
