Chapter 11:
A single Drop
[Still flashback]
"I'm so dead,"
Mitch mumbled as he slowly sneaked through the hallway and glanced into the kitchen. Nobody was up yet and he sighed with relief while sitting down carefully at the table. The pounding in his head didn't cease and with a groan he put his head onto his crossed arms on the table surface.
The alcohol surely had left its marks.
Every single spot of his body ached and Mitch left out another groan, as he played with the thought in his mind to just go to bed again. Nonetheless he still remembered every second of the last evening… and the following night.
His heartbeat quickened and a warm feeling spread in his chest. With a content sigh he opened his eyes again and lifted his head to stare at the fridge. Adam…
Mitch couldn't even put into words how much he meant to him.
It was an unusual emotion. Never before had those romantic feelings been so intense and strong. So Adam had done the right thing in the end, telling the guys, right?
Still Mitch felt sick just thinking about the possible reactions of the other Team Crafted members. The group had never talked about what they thought of homosexuality. Was everything ruined just because of their kiss in front of the guys last evening? Ice-cold fear tried to dispel his warm emotions and with a sigh Mitch got off the chair to make himself a cup of coffee.
He didn't make it to the other side of the kitchen, because someone wrapped his arms around Mitch's torso and pulled him back softly. Before Mitch was able to turn around he knew who it was and with a silly smile on his face he automatically leaned against Adam's chest.
"Morning, dear," he mumbled sleepily and put his chin on Mitch's shoulder, closing his eyes doing so. "Hey. Didn't get much sleep last night?" he replied with a grin on his face and began to laugh, as Adam opened his eyes again to stare at him silently. "You're so mean," he muttered pouting and with a content smile Mitch laid his left hand on his boyfriend's cheek and stroked it lovingly.
"Of course I am, you haven't greeted me properly yet."
Adam laughed, snuggled a bit closer and whispered in his ear, "Now how can I make that right?" Turning his head a little bit more to his left, Mitch received a soft kiss and closed his eyes to enjoy their little moment together. His hand was still resting on Adam's cheek, while his were still possessively grabbing Mitch's hips. It was just a simple kiss, but it made his heart race all over again. When they broke the kiss, Mitch leaned his head against the side of Adam's face and enjoyed the flaring up feelings.
"Love you," he mumbled and pressed himself further into the hug, while Adam placed a kiss on his temple. "You too."
The peaceful moment was interrupted by another voice coming from the door.
"Now isn't that cute?"
Ian was standing in the doorway, arms crossed, and with a big grin on his face. Mitch tried to get away from Adam immediately, but his arms tightened the grip on his lover while he stared at Ian. "Adam, let me-"
"There's nothing to hide, dear."
With a sigh Mitch stopped the struggle and felt the heat rush to his face. It was no use, Adam wouldn't let go of him anytime soon.
"How long have you been standing there exactly?" Mitch asked embarrassed and didn't even dare to look up to their friend. "Since Adam 'greeted you properly' I guess." With a groan he closed his eyes and tried to ignore the loud laugh from the other side of the kitchen. Mitch didn't even need to look up to see the satisfied smirk on Adam's face.
"Come on Mitch, stop worrying. I'm supporting you guys all the way."
He hadn't expected those words, but Ian chose them at the right time. His soothing voice sounded sincere and in combination with Adam's soft strokes on his back he began to relax slowly.
Mitch snuggled back into his lover's arms, as Ian finally entered the kitchen and went over to the coffee machine, starting casually, "So, you really dropped a bombshell yesterday. The guys were shocked - had no clue about it."
Something about his formulation got Mitch's attention and with a raised eyebrow he looked up to ask,
"And you did?"
"Actually yes."
Adam stopped the soft kisses on Mitch's cheek and looked as surprised as he was, while Ian continued calmly, "Jerome and I had our suspicions for some time, actually. You guys have been very obvious, I'm astonished that the others were so surprised about it."
Mitch didn't expect that his cheeks could get even redder, but the increasing blush on his face convinced him of the contrary. While Ian leaned against the counter with a cup of coffee in one hand, he buried the other one in the pocket of his dark trousers. Even though his lips weren't visible as he took a sip, the grin was still evident in his sparkling eyes. He enjoyed every second of teasing Mitch and didn't even have the decency of hiding it.
Adam on the other hand had something completely different in mind.
"So how did it go after you guys left?"
"What do you mean?" Ian asked slightly confused, sipping again on his cup of coffee while mustering Adam. "I know we were all drunk yesterday," his boyfriend began with a serious tone and Mitch turned in his arms to watch him curiously, "but not so drunk that they couldn't have reacted afterwards. What did they say about us?"
The final truth about the reaction Mitch feared the most right now.
His grip on Adam's arms around his waist tightened and he dreaded to think of what their words could have been. Did they hate them now? Had some of the guys already left the house? Mitch's parents had reacted surprisingly well, but that didn't mean anything regarding their friends. Oh god. He still had to tell Mat, Rob and his friends up in Montreal as well.
If Adam hadn't been by his side right now, supporting him with his tight and loving grip, Mitch would have panicked.
"Believe it or not, but not a single one of them said that they couldn't live with it. Some of the guys don't mind it at all, some on the other hand are a bit confused and…" Ian tried to find the right words and stared at the ceiling while nipping at his coffee. "…uncertain I think. Just talk to them, explain how you feel and answer some of their questions. They will come around for sure."
Mitch admired Ian mostly for his honesty. He wasn't the person to sugarcoat things and whenever he said some optimistic words, Ian was completely sincere in doing so. Adam smiled thankfully and put his head back down on Mitch's shoulder, who in return sighed with relief.
"So how long has this been going on between you two?"
Ian deserved to be curious and while he started to prepare the breakfast, they gladly answered his questions, as long as they had his support. "It started a few months ago, but we finally got together when Mitch had this horrible cold," Adam explained and with an understanding nod Ian threw a look back to them over his shoulder. "Right, I remember. Jerome went to get me and as we returned, Mitch had fallen asleep in your arms. It was adorable."
Adam chuckled and pressed a kiss on his cheekbone, while Mitch sarcastically replied, "Thanks for keeping the blush alive Ian, I was already worrying."
"Yeah, thanks Ian, it looks too cute when he's embarrassed. Can I hire you?" Adam quickly casted away the idea as Mitch poked him in the ribs.
"So how do you plan to continue this now?"
Ian turned around, placed the dishes on the table between them and looked back up to Mitch and Adam. "Are you planning on keeping it a secret as long as possible?" This time Adam threw an uncertain look at Mitch, who answered with a small smile on his face, "My parents already know. I didn't plan on telling them, but one thing led to another and… well… I'm glad I opened up to them. They don't mind us being together and I'm actually really surprised that it not only went so well with them, but with you guys too."
"The only ones left are our fans, however this is a topic for later I guess. One step at a time, you know?" Adam continued and Mitch was glad he saw it similar. "Yeah, it for sure is not going to be easy, when you make it public. You guys better think it through multiple times," Ian added concerned and opened the fridge. "And we have to tell Mat and the others as well," Mitch said with a fearful glance at Adam, who quickly nodded. "Have to admit I forgot about them, but sure, we'll do that if you want to."
"If you need any help, just tell us. We'll gladly be there for you – at least I am."
Adam couldn't hold back any longer. Releasing Mitch he went over to their friend and gave him a hug.
"Thank you. We really appreciate it, Ian," Mitch replied thankfully and couldn't restrain the big smile on his face, as the older boy patted his boyfriend on the back with a happy laugh. The peaceful atmosphere captivated him for a moment, as he watched them as a bystander, but slowly a dark thought pushed itself to the fore. A thought, which had given him some sleepless nights during the last week over and over again.
Mitch moved to the doorway.
"I'll have to excuse myself guys, there is still something I want to speak to Jerome about."
Before he reached the hall, a hand grabbed his right upper arm and held him back. "You're not going anywhere just like that-" A blurry figure appeared in his field of vision and a hungry pair of lips snatched a bittersweet kiss from him. "-alright, I'm good. Have fun."
Mitch could still hear Ian's loud laugh on his way upstairs, but as he reached the upper floor the smile on his lips faded immediately.
It was the best decision to speak to Jerome first about this, right?
Mitch knew him for years now and he was one of the few people, who wouldn't judge him for what he had in mind.
He carefully knocked on Jerome's door a few times, until he could hear a faint voice calling him in.
As Mitch entered the room slowly, his best friend was lying on his bed and looked very tired. "What's up?" he asked with a sleepy voice, "Is it about yesterday?"
"Not really."
Mitch closed the door and leaned against it, but Jerome could still see his trembling hands.
"What happened?" he asked more awake than a few seconds before and sat up right away.
"It's not- nothing happened, I-"
Mitch stopped and suddenly the happy scene in the kitchen seemed to be ages away. Staring at the ground, he finally admitted,
"I have to talk to you, Jerome. It's about the team and… and Seto."
Something different for once. No comment about the ending from my side. Write me your thoughts right now in the comments down below. Do it. What's going through your mind regarding the chapter & the last sentence?
