Let's see if you guys can get both of them. Enjoy the chapter! Please read and review!
It was strange how Sonic and I moved from simply dating to a full fledged love affair so quickly. After what I had declared 'that night' we agreed to move slow. That lasted about a week. We just couldn't keep our hands off each other when we were alone. There was a fire we shared, something other people could see but only we could feel. With each kiss, roaming hand and night under Sonic's warm, welcoming sheets that fire only became wilder and more adamant in my life. Rouge could tell.
"You're glowing," she had said to me when we discussed my new relationship with Sonic. "The change in you is just...wow."
I had to agree with her. For the most part I still felt like the same old Amy but when I was with him I felt bubbly and joyful. I felt like a little girl sneakily passing love letters in elementary school. It was a thrilling and innocent love, despite our not-so-innocent nocturnal activities.
I once feared that this fire I felt would only grow to the point that it would burn me. I was so wrong. This fire was warm but simply could not burn. It was harmless and sweet, like something that came right out of a fairy tale. Besides, when it got too intense for me to bear things always cooled down a little before the cycle continued.
"You look awful," Sonic teased me during one of those warm moments of calm.
I kicked him playfully under the covers. He just laughed. We faced each other, keeping close in the bed. The only thing that touched was our hands. They brushed lightly against each other on the pillow. It was a magic moment. I could feel the childish glee rise within me.
"Like Medusa," he added to his previous taunt.
"And who's fault is that?" I asked, trying to make a point.
"Yours."
"Mine?" I asked.
He nodded. "Mmhmm."
"And what makes you say that?" I questioned pointedly.
"So I come home and you're already here, wearing nothing but my white shirt, plus you're dripping wet from a shower so I can see right through it. If that's not pure, unbridled seduction I don't know what is."
"Well, technically it's your fault for telling me where your spare key is. I wouldn't be able to do all that if you hadn't told me where it was," I pointed out.
"You want to play the blame game," he chuckled. "Fine. I'll humor you."
Sonic sat up, propping his elbows up on his knees. I raised my head, leaning my cheek on my hand and looking up at his thinking face. I smiled up at him but he ignored me, trying to think of a counter.
"It's your fault..." He started hesitantly, "because you wanted to know where it was."
"It's your fault for making me curious by saying 'I bet you'll never guess.'"
He shook his head. "Nuh-uh. It's still your fault because you said you could read my mind. That's what started it all, remember?"
"But it's your fault for saying I couldn't and testing me," I threw back at him.
"So it's my fault your hair is messy because I wanted to test your mind reading skills?" He asked.
"Well, when you put it that way it sounds crazy," I huffed, lying back down and burying my face in his pillow.
"That's because it is crazy, Amy," he laughed.
I felt the bed shift as he lowered his weight down on my back. Oh my. Rarely was Sonic the initiator for these types of things. When he was he was very blunt though. As I felt his chest rise and fall in anticipation against my back I giggled.
"It's your fault for making me love you," Sonic whispered in my ear.
His deep tone gave me chills down my spine. Sonic could obviously feel them because he took it as a go ahead. His arms wrapped around me from behind and I felt his heart beat hammer into my skin. He ground his nether regions against mine, awakening the beast. I heard him moan my name faintly as he did so.
Heat coursed through my veins. I couldn't describe how happy being here, with him, like this made me. Why did I ever turn this man down? He was my perfect match, even of he wasn't a perfect person. I loved him and it was all I could think about in times like these.
I raised my hips off of the mattress allowing him access to me. He took full advantage of it.
The night, like most others, was long and hardly involved any sleep. I woke up after what I would classify as a nap that morning and got up and out of bed. Sonic groaned in his light sleep, frustrated by the loss of his snuggle partner. But after finding a soft pillow he cuddled up to that instead.
"You are such a baby," I whispered.
Half awake, he stuck out his tongue at me and went back to his sleep immediately. I rolled my eyes. I swear my boyfriend had all the youthful bliss of a baby sometimes. It was strange but endearing.
I sighed and picked up the over-night bag with an extra change of clothes I had brought. I always brought it to movie night, just in case. Yes, it had gotten to that point. Like I said before, we just couldn't keep our hands off each other. I placed the bag on the bed and started to shuffle through it. Sonic opened his eyes by a crack and sat up. As I went through the bag I growled at the sight of what I had forgotten.
"I brought condoms and we forgot to use them," I chided myself, putting my hand on my forehead. "Stupid, stupid, stupid."
Sonic tried to reassure me. "It's alright, Amy. No worries."
"There is a worry," I insisted. "What if I get pregnant? That would not be good. Not yet, at least."
Sonic bit his lip, as though contemplating something. I didn't pay him much mind.
"Now I have to go buy another pregnancy test and-"
"Don't waste your money on that," Sonic blurted out, obviously not thinking about the backlash.
Did he realize how important this was? Pregnancy was nothing that should be left to chance. It was a hard painful time in a woman's life that could lead to startling desicions. The choices you made in regards to pregnancy could ruin your life.
My mouth gaped open at him and he realized his mistake in an instant.
"Amy, I don't mean I'm not worried about you or us. It's just that under...these circumstances you have nothing to worry about."
"These circumstances?" I asked, not exactly happy with how calm he was about this. I sighed, letting my anger out. I didn't need to cause a fuss. I just needed to know. "Sonic, what would you do if I got pregnant? Honestly?"
"I'd think it was a miracle and love you both until the day I die," he answered without hesitation.
I turned around and plopped myself down on the bed in relief. Knowing he was always there for me was a comfort I had never had before with a partner. He wrapped his arms around my shoulders and hugged me from the side. I felt his chin lean on my shoulder and his shaky, nervous breath catch in my ear.
"Can ask you something now?" He wondered.
"Shoot."
"Do you want children?"
I paused. Why did he sound so sad when he asked that?
"Eventually, yes," I replied. "I would like to have kids."
He looked like had just been stabbed in the heart. "Oh." Was his only response. Without another word he left my side at the bed and went off to take a shower. What was up with him? I worried, remembering what happened when I went to the hospital with Rouge and Sonic after my memory loss. Finding him in the trauma room puking and shaking had been something we hadn't talked about since. I dared not bring it up. He seemed so angry the when I tried to ask him about it there. Why did I get the feeling that what was happening now and what happened then were somehow connected?
'Coffee! I need coffee!'
I texted that to Sonic at noon that same day. Sonic, the caffeine addict, would obviously be getting his fix right about now. It would only be logical for him to buy me mine.
'I'll pay.'
I added to the previous text.
'Nope, it's on me. I'll be there soon :)'
'You're my hero. 3 I luv u!'
'Luv u 2.'
I smiled down at the phone in my lap as I sat in the makeover chair, waiting for my favorite client to arrive.
"You're smiling down at your crotch so only two things could be happening right now," I heard Rouge's voice quip from behind me. "I hope you're texting and not-"
"Shut up, Rouge," I laughed, spinning in my chair and throwing a facecloth at her.
She laughed, guarding her face and catching the cloth.
"Are you talking to Sonic?" She asked.
"Mmhmm," I confirmed. I held the phone up to my heart and hugged it there melodramatically. "He's bringing me coffee."
"Coffee!" Rouge squealed, fanning herself. "I think you've found the one!"
I giggled. "I think I have too."
This time there wasn't even a hint of a jest in my voice. I was dead serious. Sonic was the one and if anything happened to change the way we were now my heart would surely break.
"What's all this talk about the one?" We both looked towards the door of the makeup room to find Sally standing there, as lovely as ever.
"Hi, Sal," I greeted her getting out of the chair and gesturing for her to sit in it. "Let's get started, shall we?"
She nodded and took a seat. As I spinner the chair to face the vanity mirror Sally started to talk.
"I'm sorry I had to call and reschedule," she apologized. "I know you must be hungry."
I dismissed her concerns with a wave. "I'm more than happy to work through lunch for my favorite customer."
Sally smiled genuinely up at me. "Thanks."
"No problem."
I started my work with Sally. She had a press conference at 1:30 and she needed to look her best.
"Politics is just so cut throat and hypocritical these days," Sally complained. "If you look nice you're vain. If you don't look nice you're unprofessional. They can't make up their minds! So guess what? I'm just gonna say screw it and look how I want."
I nodded, understanding how she felt. "That's the way it should be. You should be able to look how you want."
Sally beamed. "Exactly!"
Just then, the receptionist walked into the makeup room.
"Are you done, Miss Rose?" The girl peaked in and inquired after me.
"Yep," I said, pulling the chair out for Sally to get up. "I just finished. Why?"
"Mr. Hedgehog arrived with coffee."
Sally frowned beside me but I was too busy to notice.
"Come on," I ushered her out of the makeup room. "I'll check you out while Sonic gives me my coffee."
"You know he's not gay, right?" Sally whispered under her breath as we walked out. What on Earth did she mean by that?
When I saw Sonic standing in the lobby, placing my coffee on the front desk I skipped right up to him.
"Hey Bunny," I said, wrapping my arms around his neck and giving him the tiniest peck in the lips.
"Hi Ames," he purred, returning my kiss.
When we parted Sonic's eyes darted straight over to Sally. His mouth gaped open a little before he regained composure and gave her a nod.
"Sally," he acknowledged her.
"Sonic," she said politely back.
"You two know each other?" I asked.
Sally gave me a sad smile and turned away, embarrassed.
"'That night'" Sonic whispered in my ear.
...Sally was the girl from 'that night?' I blushed, feeling like an idiot.
"I'll sign you out," I told her, going to the other side of the reception desk. "Sonic could you, uh..."
He nodded, understanding my drift. "I'm gone. I'm gone," he insisted. He reached out his hand and shook Sally's. "It was nice seeing you...by the way, good handshake."
The awkwardness in the air suddenly dissipated as Sally laughed. Sonic went on his way but I couldn't help but feel a burning sensation in my gut. Nice handshake? What the Hell did that mean?
"What's with the face?" Sonic asked.
We were standing in line for the movie theater snack bar. He had been watching me curiously all night and now I guess I knew why.
"What face?" I asked. "I'm not making a face."
He snickered and nudged me with his shoulder. "Yes you are, sour puss. You've been making a face all night."
I shrugged. "It's nothing. I'm just being stupid."
"I like stupid," Sonic joked. "Tell me."
"I just..."
'Nice handshake.' The way she blushed and laughed, it was flirtatious, whether he meant it that way or not. I knew Sonic was only trying to lighten the mood and I was not worried about him straying. I trusted him. It was just irking me.
"It just bugged me," I admitted. "The way she laughed at your little inside joke."
Sonic smiled. "You're jealous?"
"No!" I insisted. "Besides, even if I was, why do you seem so happy about it?"
"It means I'm worth getting jealous over," he laughed. "Plus, you are unbelievably cute like this."
I rolled my eyes. "I'm not jealous. I know I can trust you, and Sally for that matter."
"But it's natural to get a little jealous every once in a while," Sonic noted. "It might even be considered healthy, to a certain extent. It means you find someone attractive."
"Fine, maybe it is natural to get jealous," I gave in a bit. "But it's weird for you to enjoy my jealousy this much."
"But it's hot," Sonic explained.
I hushed him. Seriously, he had to stop making me so flustered in public.
We were approaching the front of the line when the teen boy cashier waved us over. "Next!"
Sonic eyed him and smirked. "Here, I'll show you."
When we walked up to the counter the cashier addressed me first. "What can I help you with, Miss?"
Sonic scoffed. "Certainly not anything you're thinking of."
The teen boy looked up at him, a little bewildered. "What do you mean?"
"I mean," Sonic hissed. "Stop making goo goo eyes at a woman on a date."
My face turned bright red when I realized what he was doing. I was between laughter and anger.
"Sonic," I whispered under my breath, pulling on his jacket sleeve.
"I just asked her what I could help her with," the boy defended himself.
"Nothing I can't help her with," Sonic stated in a snarky tone. "Now stop ogling her and get us two packs of M&M's."
the boy gulped. "But I-"
Sonic silenced him with only a glare.
"Yes, sir," he whined, scurrying off to get the order.
"Asshole," I muttered under my breath.
He turned around and smiled warmly at me. "Maybe I am but you're still smiling."
I hadn't noticed before but I was. I was smiling like an idiot.
"I hate you."
"Love you too, Ames."
The boy came back shaking. He laid the candy on the counter and named our price.
"That'll be 9.65$," he stuttered.
Sonic took out a twenty. Smiled at him and said. "Keep the change."
The boy looked confused at us.
"I was just doing a little experiment," Sonic told him. "You were a good sport, kid. Sorry I freaked you out."
The boy took the money hesitantly before giving us a weak, still confused smile. "Umm, thanks."
"No problem," Sonic replied, taking the candy and walking off.
"That was mean," I chided him.
He waved it off. "Maybe, but it worked, didn't it?"
My heart fluttered in my chest. I tried desperately to keep cool.
"I have no idea what you're talking about," I denied him.
"Liar," he chuckled under his breath.
I felt Sonic's hand rise up to my back and stay there firmly as we walked. The warmth and show of jealousy, however fake it was, had been a bit enjoyable to me. I didn't know if I could take his subtle shows of romance right now.
"Sonic," I whined.
He clutched at my hip and pulled me in closer to him. "What?"
"Stop."
He stopped walking and held me close to him.
"What am I doing?" He wondered playfully.
"You know what you're doing," I said, pushing on his chest, trying to create a little distance.
"Come here," he laughed, leaning closer.
I turned my head so that when he went in for a kiss he ended up brushing my cheek instead.
"That's just cold," he complained. "Gimme some sugar."
I smiled coyly, keeping my face turned from his. I felt one hand come off my back and reached under my chin, trying to coax my head gently over.
"Gimme gimme never gets," I reminded him.
"Just a kiss," he whispered in my ear. "It won't do any harm."
"'Just a kiss' he says. 'It won't do any harm' he says." I muttered the words sarcastically.
Sonic raised an eyebrow. "It' a movie theater. What could we possibly do here?"
I rolled my eyes. "Have you heard what happens in the back seats of theaters?"
"Have you heard what happens in sound booths?"
That caught my attention.
"I still don't remember that," I rebuffed the dirty thoughts running through my mind.
"But it happened and you suggested it," Sonic told me. "You dirty little tart."
I turned my head towards him, preparing to quip back when his lips locked with mine. I felt the softness of his kiss. Gentle flow from my top lip to my bottom. He was so good at making the world around feel unimportant. Right there, I felt like nothing mattered but the safety of his arms and the love in his affectionate kiss.
Sonic pulled away from me. There was a twinkle in his eyes as he gave me a final peck.
"Mission accomplished," he proclaimed before sauntering off to the we trance of our movie.
"You jerk," I yelled after him.
He put a hand behind his back. It was held just right for me to take it as I caught up to him. Hand-in-hand we walked to the screening room and went to pick our seats.
"Where do you want to sit?" He asked as we climbed the stairs.
"I'm thinking the back seats," I giggled.
"Tart," he teased.
"Man-whore."
We might be a little crazy sometimes but honestly, it's the crazy things that make me feel fully alive around him.
