Thank you to my wonderful beta, Stella!
Wiping the counter with a slightly used rag, Miroku hummed quietly to himself as he went about his daily cleaning tasks, hoping to pass some time during his shift.
'I don't see how that girl doesn't go crazy during downtime!' He thought, taking his rag and tossing it in the trash can. He sighed to himself, running his hair in his short black hair before leaning on the counter, staring out of the window.
The sight of a figure approaching the glass door almost brought tears to his eyes, causing him to stand abruptly and smooth out his apron. When Miroku saw that it was only a flustered Kagome, his face turned into a scowl and he groaned.
"Kagome! You're off today!" He sighed, walking over to the counter and propping his elbows, glaring at the girl.
"Yeah, whatever. I'm here with someone," Kagome replied, glancing over her shoulder to the tall male who now entered the café, brown eyes searching for her tiny figure.
"Oh ho ho," Miroku grinned, reaching out a finger to tap her nose. "This must be him! You've outdone yourself, Kagome. Though, I am a bit upset at you." Miroku admitted, scolding her.
"Me? What did I do?" Kagome asked, a bit confused at her boss's ramblings.
"You've decided to date older guys, and never even bothered to ask me out! I'm hurt, Kagome!" Miroku sighed, raising his arm to wipe his eyes dramatically.
"Get over yourself, Miroku! And I'm not dating him. Sesshomaru offered to help me with a school project, and we both agreed that coffee would be a good way to start the lesson."
"You don't have to be so modest, Kagome. You tend to forget that I am an experienced adult male. There isn't anything you two could be doing that I haven't already done." Miroku winked, causing Kagome to blush a deep scarlet.
"Shut up, lech! Now do you job and make some Java!" Kagome yelled, grabbing Miroku by the shirt.
"What do I look like, a barista? Get back here and make it yourself!" Miroku replied, yanking himself away from the girl, and looking back to Sesshomaru with a knowing smile. "Kagome?"
Kagome, who had stepped behind the counter and was now fixing her apron, turned to face her boss, groaning softly. "What?"
"You might want to put in an extra shot of espresso for your man candy. He'll need the energy to put up with you."
Kagome chirped in embarrassment, her blush returning. She continued to make their coffee, not daring to face her soon-to-be lesson partner.
