Being Human
Chapter 12

He's a hunter out for cold and bloody revenge. She's an innocent vampire, trying to stay human. Two worlds clash, black and white meet and sometimes the lines blur and they become grey. This is the story of a monster… and a human.

Once you let the darkness in, it never comes out, that's what they say. The darkness will cling to you until the day you die, that was what Valentine told her once she finally understood that there was no going back anymore. The darkness had taken over, it had won and now that she surrendered, she never wanted to fight against it anymore. She felt powerful. The world belonged to her in so many ways and when humanity dies one day, she will be the God of the new world. She would feast upon the new world order they had created, those who live without rules of mortality. She would never die and she would never fade, she would lose herself but she would never vanish like humans would. She would trip over all the times she would lie, she would swallow down all the things that haunted her. She had come undone. She ran all her life, she ran away from her parents, ran away from herself because she knew what it was, she was capable of doing. She was never willing to pay the asking price and now she paid it with her soul.

But she couldn't care less, all she wanted to be was free and she wouldn't allow anyone to stop her from it. She had allowed others reign over her life for far too long but that was over now. The want to hurt was never so present like it was now, the thirst for revenge was never as great as it was now. She had suffered the misconducts of others all her life and they would beg for forgiveness before the day was over. She no longer needed tears for an alibi and she would certainly never use someone else for protection. She could protect herself perfectly fine, she was not dependent of others.

The club was buzzing with energy while she made her way through the crowd of dancing people. The booming bass of the music hurt her sensitive ears but the fresh blood would soon make it worth her while. Men and women all together turned their heads after her while she strode past them. She knew what they wanted, even through the thick sharp wave of alcohol she could smell their desire and feel the almost buzzing energy in the room. She found her victim in less than a second. He wasn't tall nor was he broad and muscled but he had something. He was dressed in black jeans and t-shirt, nothing special and that was exactly what she wanted. No one that would be missed.

She wasted no time, walking straight through the crowded dancefloor. The humans willingly parted for her, she kicked a glassbottle out of her way with her heels. The group of five turned their heads in her direction and when she directly walked towards him, the others looked rather sour but didn't dare to say something. She looked him deep in the eyes, drew him in like a snake would do with its pray. When she grabbed his hand he followed her like a puppet with no hesitation. He had no idea that she was the predator and not him. He was the prey.

"Wohin gehen wir?", he asked in German. She didn't understand him, she just pulled him with her out of the club.

Obviously already reading her thoughts as soon as they excited the club it was him who grabbed her and pulled her into the small alley next to the club. Dark, cold and quiet. It was perfect. He pressed her against the cold stone wall, a few little rocks dug into the bare skin of her back and she hissed, racking her fingernails down his back. He kissed her, if you could call it a kiss. It was hasty and not very pleasing. Sakura rolled with her eyes and soon turned the page on him. With a low growl she turned him around, with her hands against his chest she pressed him against the wall.

Pulling back, she looked into his dazed, flushed face. When he realized she wouldn't kiss him again he looked at her with confusion in his eyes "Was ist los, baby? Keinen Bock mehr?"

She opened her mouth and she saw with satisfaction how terror rolled over his face when he saw her fangs lengthen. She smirked, her eyes glowing already "Wrong woman, boy." With that, she buried her fangs into his throat. She muffled the scream with her hand while his warm blood spilled into her waiting mouth. Her eyes rolled into the back of her head and she pulled him towards her harder and harder with every sip she took from him. Soon his body slackened and his heart slowed down. She could feel the life drain right out of him and into her. How his loss made her stronger with the second. She couldn't stop, she knew he would die when she wouldn't stop within the next seconds. She let go of him with a hiss and he dropped to the floor, lying lifeless in front of her feet.

Christian's mansion…

"Has anyone seen Sakura, for God's sake?"

Tsunade looked up from her medical book. She arched her eyebrow slightly "Huh?"

Valentine locked his mobile and pushed it back into his jeans "She is not in her room, she is not in the library, she is nowhere! And she doesn't even answer her phone, it's the sixth time I only got her mailbox."

Kakashi shrugged his shoulders and finished his glass of whiskey "Nah, I haven't seen her since dinner yesterday."

"Well, she is not in her room. She left the door open and the lights on, it looks like she just grabbed her bag and left."

"Maybe she talked to Christian? She wanted to go outside the gates again and after the disaster in the opera…" The rest hung in the air. Everyone knew what Kakashi hinted to.

Valentine sat down across from Tsunade in her chair "No, Christian is not home, he has a conference with the save haven in Budapest. After everything that happened in the opera, he thinks about moving on with the whole colony."

"I can understand him." Kakashi said, "He has the responsibility for everyone in this mansion and after everything that happened to Gaara and after his statement concerning the experiments the hunters did on the vampires it is probably the safest thing to do."

But before Valentine had the chance to reply to that, Naruto stormed into the room. He was so fast the doors banged against the walls and bounced off again. Everyone in the room looked at him with huge eyes.

"Where is Christian?" He asked panting.

"Not here. He has a conference. Why?" Tsunade asked, closing the book she just read a few seconds ago.

"There was an attack in front of a nightclub. We couldn't detect the vampire who did this but you have to take a look at this." Naruto pulled his mobile from his jeans pocket and obviously searched for a picture. When he found it, he took the phone and held it up under Valentines nose.

"Fuck."

Valentines eyes grew large when he saw what it was that got Naruto all wrecked up about a single attack. It was a single, long hair across the black t-shirt the boy wore. A long, curled pink hair.

"What?" Kakashi stood up and took the phone "What is- fuck!"

"She attacked him. Sakura killed him."

"Close the door!" Tsunade shot up and Naruto did what she told him quickly.

"As long as we don't get a statement from her, no one will know. They didn't identify her, so it's officially declared as unknown attack. We have to find her." Kakashi grabbed his jacket "We have to find her before she gets herself killed with her actions."

Valentine stopped him "No, we have to be careful. This is a very serious problem. Sakura is in a critical stage, the vampire in her takes over. The animal inside her comes to the surface. It's against her nature to hurt other people ad that must mean that the process of methodically erasing all human feelings already began. If her conscious is strong enough we could bring her back but if she let go…" Valentine didn't finish the sentence.

Naruto looked from Valentine to Kakashi back to Tsunade "We have to tell Christian. She killed a human for heaven's sake!"

Valentine grabbed Narutos collar so fast no one in the room could react "You will not tell anyone, you understand me? If you tell Christian, I will kill you!"

"Enough!" Kakashi pried Valentine from Naruto and stood between the two men. "We have to keep our heads clear. Sakura is off, she switched everything off we know about her. Now, she is someone we don't know."

Now it was Tsunade who grabbed Narutos shoulders "You have to be quiet about this, I'm begging you. We will find her, we will get her before she can hurt anyone else."

Naruto looked like he had to swallow down everything that he wanted to spit into their faces, rage flared over his face and he balled his fists "Fine." He gritted his teeth "Find her until dawn. Get her back to the mansion and make sure she stays here. If not, I will tell everyone and then, you know what happens to her." Naruto pulled out of Tsunades hands "Get her back under control."

They searched the whole city, Valentine even went to the old opera where Sakura had been attacked by the hunter. But it was impossible to find her in such a big city as big as Berlin with so many buildings and corners to hide in. Tsunade was boiling with fury, she could have stopped it. But she was not capable of seeing Sakuras future, she couldn't predict anything.

"You didn't see it coming, please tell me you didn't see it."

Tsunade looked at Kakashi who sat beside her in the black SUV. She shook her head "I didn't. I can't see anything concerning Sakura. I just hope we find her before dawn, you know what the council will do to her when they find out she killed that boy."

"There is just a single hair from her on his body. There is no proof that it was her who killed him. So much blood would draw in every vampire and not only the young ones."

"But she is not a normal young vampire, Valentine! It took her a year to develop her animal instincts and now she is on a rampage somewhere in fucking Berlin! God!" She hit the board in front of her "She couldn't find a better moment than this!"

Kakashi chuckled "I still remember that phase. It was the most horrible thing I ever went through when I was turned. I only felt rage and hate and I couldn't stop hurting people. I was an animal and without you, I think I would have died a good few centuries ago."

"I fear what will happen when we can't find her. We only have three hours left and the city is far too big for us to search everything."

Kakashis hands tightened around the steering wheel "We won't find her."

"I know."

It was thirty minutes before sunrise and the first rays of sunlight colored the sky already pink and orange when Tsunade, Kakashi, Gaara and Valentine met up in front of the mansion. Valentine closed his mobile phone and walked back to the group of vampires, waiting for any news.

"She is not in Berlin, Amy confirmed it."

Tsunade closed her eyes in silent suffer "God." She turned to Valentine "You know her better than anyone else. Where could she be?"

He was silent for a very long time but when he spoke, drove cold chills down everyone's back. "There is only one place I know she would go to in her state."

Kakashi looked at Valentine "Where would that be?"

Valentine took a deep breath "Her home. She will go home to her parents."

OMG! Guys, I am so sorry, it seems that my damn writer's block is not over, it's far from it. This little chapter was torture but I had to keep going because I owe you an update. So, now you know it, the cat's out of the bag! Yes, Sakuras vampire has taken over and from this on it will be kind of dark because you heard it, Sakura is on her way to England and wants to pay a bloody visit to her parents.
