Dear Vol,
Part One: Continued
I walked out the hospital holding onto Alec for dear life after a week of constant care. My leg was plastered in a case, my arm wrapped in bandages Alec had doodled on as I slept; he was a talented artist, drawing a moon, with a shadowy figure stood before it and a bed with girl sleeping in it, two bright eyes bursting out from under it. Somehow, I think there is a message in his doodles.
What I've noticed about Alec is how many walls he's built up over the years. It took me at least two weeks of feeding him my deepest, darkest secrets to finally get him to share one. That's why my interest peaked at his drawings; what's the saying 'pictures speak a thousand words'? If so, the meaning of those pictures I'm certain is sinister.
There, leaning against his motorbike, with his sunglasses covering his eyes and a leather jacket over his blue shirt, was Jake. His voice from just a week ago echoed throughout my mind. Questions buzzed around the echo: did he know I was going to get hit? Does he want to be friends again? Will he even apologise, maybe that's why he called my name before the car?
Alec located my truck in the hospital car park, having driven it here for my 'coming home' surprise, not that my old, paint shedding car ever failed to surprise me by not breaking down. Yet. It was thoughtful, I'd felt a bit awkward around cars since the accident, always avoiding them with fear when I was aloud for walks around the car park. Motorbikes, however, we're completely different, they were dangerous even before the crash.
Alec swerved, changing his direction and helping me towards Jake; I swear sometimes Alec can read my mind. "Bella. It's been awhile." Jake said plainly as he dropped the helmet onto my face, I winced when it came in contact with my bruises, but they'd mostly healed so it wasn't that bad. "Come with me?" Jake's eyebrow peeked out from behind his sunglasses. I looked to Alec,
"if you want, go. I'll meet you back at your house at six?" Jake nodded in agreement with the time, taking hold of my hips and lifting me onto the back of the black, shiny, beautiful bike.
"Goodbye, I love you." I said to Alec as Jake whisked me away, leaving Alec awkwardly waving at shadows.
"Where are we going?" I ask as we swerve into an unknown part of the Forks forest. Charlie was used to hunting in these woods, so he'd set me one clear and simple rule for when I had first got my car: if you don't know the forest turn back.
"There's something I need to show you." My senses were on edge, my mind fuzzy. Crap, where were we going?
We kept riding, past the Reservation and into No Man's Land, finally halting on top of a mountain I've never been to before. Below the crumbling edge I admired the waves crashing against the sand, driven by power. I wanted to touch them, engulf myself in the insane force. I slipped into a dream, where I fell and crashed at the bottom, slowly grabbing onto air and feeling my body twist. With Jake's finally words whispered in my ear 'it's done' my dream became reality.
Love from,
Bella Swan x
