Arthur and the big mayor election
Frank Porter is still on trial. Bud Compson will soon be called to the stand. He like Ladonna was there at that time. He had them at his house because he was babysitting them at that time. Before he reveled that he hates children. They thought he was a good man at the time but proved to be a pedophile. He is now on trial for abusing children and not paying his taxes. Arthur and them knows he is guilty. They know he did them crimes. They need to prove it to the jury now after all.
"The United States calls," said the DA, "Bud Compson to the stand."
"Do you promise to tell the truth," said the bailiff, "The whole truth and nothing but the truth?"
"I do," said Bud, "So help me God."
"You may be seated," said the judge, "You may ask him questions now."
"Yes your honor," said the DA, "I will be glad to in fact."
He asked him all the questions and he did so he told the truth to them. The Defense attorney being the way he is will try to make him slip. That defense attorney is a strange man. And he is the cousin of Frank Porter. That is what Frank Porter wants him to do. That defense attorney is mean at times. He will be very mean to Bud in fact. Bud is a tough little boy. He is strong and does a power stare that beats people without him hurting him. He isn't to be messed with in matter of fact.
"You wasn't there," said the defense attorney, "Admit you wasn't there."
"Leave me alone," said Bud, "Can any of you help me?"
"I sure can," said Arthur, "Will you help Bailiff?"
"My pleasure," said the bailiff, "Leave him alone now."
"You can take your seat," said the judge, "Leave that boy alone he is stronger than he looks."
Next the DA calls the rest of the witnesses. See what happens in the next chapter of this story.
