It was a gorgeous day in Death City. The sun was bright but not baking hot, the air was fresh, and there was a gentle breeze. This was the perfect day for…collecting dissection specimens? Well it was for Stein. Most people would have taken a leisurely stroll through the park, played some sports, or gone swimming, but not Stein. Then again Stein wasn't like most people.

The silver-haired mesiter walked through the woods at a relaxed pace. He wasn't looking for anything special today, just a rabbit or two for experimentation and dissection. He was hoping he could find a white one; yes those were lovely.

An eerie smile spread across Stein's face as he imagined the animal's warm red blood staining it's pure white coat…ah yes…that was lovely…yes.

He was torn from his thoughts, however, when he heard the faint sound of somebody crying. As he followed the sound, he picked up more information about it. He could tell from the pitch and general tone of it, that it was a female…after gathering that, it didn't take him long to recognize whose tears they were.

He quietly pushed a branch to the side and entered a small clearing in the trees, finding the source of the sniffling.

"Marie." He said with just enough volume to his voice to draw her attention.

She looked up at him pitifully but with some embarrassment as well.

"Stein…." She sniffed with a quivering lip.

Stein said nothing. He began to analyze the situation, and saw that she had both of her hands fixated near the back of her head. Taking a step closer, he saw that one of her hands gripped her golden locks tightly in her fist, while the other brandished a pair of large sheers.

"What on earth are you doing Marie?" Stein asked bluntly, standing before her.

"I-I'm cutting my hair." She hicced.

"O..k? Why are you cutting your hair? I thought you liked it the way it was. Besides, if you cut it yourself it's going to turn out terrible." Stein said frankly.

At this Marie sobbed even harder and let her arms drop to her sides. Stein sighed and knelt down next to her.

"Why are you cutting it Marie?" Stein asked again.

"Th-this boy t-told me that he liked me….b-but I didn't like him so he said that….my hair was ugly a-anyway and that that's why I don't have a boyfriend!" Marie blurted miserably.

Stein sighed.

"So you're cutting it because of that?" Stein said.

"Yes!" she cried.

She managed to look up at Stein's still calm face, with her tear blurred vision.

"Wow that is dumb." Stein said honestly.

Marie stared at him for a moment before crying hysterically. Stein finally couldn't take it anymore. He was going to do something…..oh he was going to take drastic measures…

Marie gasped as she felt herself being tugged into Stein's arms. Her tears stopped flowing and her breath froze. After a few moments of this, Stein finally spoke.

"Marie…what I meant is that it's stupid to do something like this over someone who isn't worth it." Stein said holding her shoulders and pulling her away to look at him. "People tell me to change all the time. People would like me to stop dissecting things but I don't because I don't want to. I'm just going to keep doing as I please." Stein explained.

Marie was in shock; she could only stare at him.

"Do you like your hair the way it is Marie?" Stein asked.

"Well…yes…" she responded looking down.

"Then leave it the way it is." Stein concluded simply.

Marie didn't know what to say…ugh it was true…she could get so emotional sometimes and get all bent out of shape over something someone said. That boy had hit a touchy subject and she let that get to her…now she was cutting off all of her hair for some jerk? Stein was right…that was dumb….

"Besides Marie, I like it the way it is." Stein told her.

Marie could feel her face turning pink. Stein hadn't used a romantic tone or anything…nor had it been a "here you go" sort of tone…it was just….sincere. He had meant it. He was just telling her what he thought, honestly…and it made her feel so happy.

"Y-you like it?" Marie stammered, feeling hot all over.

"Yeah, it looks good the way it is. It's pretty." Stein said offering her a bit of a smile this time.

Marie felt like she was going to faint….

"T-thank you…Stein." Marie said finally.

Stein nodded in response. Marie was so happy but soon she noticed, that Stein was eyeing the scissors in her hand.

"Ummm…Stein?" Marie asked.

"Can I have those?" Stein asked.

Marie already knew why he wanted them and laughed.

"Experimenting again?" she asked cutely. She supposed it would be odd for most girls to be so accepting of Stein's bizarre pastime, but she didn't care…it was part of the man she was in love with…

"Here." She said offering him the large sheers, much to his delight.

"Thanks." Was all he said, as he looked them over.

Marie gazed lovingly at the quirky man she loved….

No Stein…thank YOU….
