New Message, Part 12

I felt groggy. Then I thought of Miku and my other friends and knew I had to stay strong. I combed my hair out with my fingers, not knowing how to react to Gakupo.

Just do whatever comes to you, I thought.

I rehearsed a couple more times before it was time to go. I trudged to the restaurant where we would be performing.

It was a nice, trendy sushi place, but I didn't eat anything beforehand because I had lost my appetite. I walked inside, and there were scores and scores of people in there, some I didn't even know. I was shocked.

Gakupo saw me and his face lit up. He pulled me aside. I tried not to look too happy. I was still really surprised by the number of people anyway.

"Hey Luka... did Miku give you my basket?"

"Yeah. Thanks a lot," I said, looking at my shoes like Gakupo had done earlier.

Gakupo looked a little worried, but he didn't say anything because it was time to perform.

Thankfully, Gakupo did all the talking, since he's the one with the big mouth most of the time.

"Hey everyone! I know that all of you have been waiting for this moment for a long time, and so have I. If you don't already know us, I'm Gakupo, and this is Luka, and we're going to sing a song for you!"

The music started. I tried to smile. Performing was usually a breeze, but not this time. I tried to put force into every "Go Google it!" I also meant the line about not knowing my feelings, because it was exactly how I felt at that very moment. Overall, I think we did really well. Even though I was supposedly mad at Gakupo, we shared a lingering smile. The roar of applause seemed too loud for the group of people. Once again, I giggled, something I hardly ever do. Then the most wonderful thing of all happened. Gakupo took my face in his hands and brushed his lips against mine. The applause was almost deafening now.
