The Parting of the Ways
Based on the episode of the same name by Russell T Davies.

On the Dalek spaceship, The Daleks were panicking. One of them looked at Liv, "You know the Doctor! You understand him! You will predict his actions!"

"I don't know!" said Liv, as the Dalek slid close to her, "And even if I did, I wouldn't tell you…"

"Predict! Predict! Predict!"

"TARDIS detected. In flight," said a second Dalek

"Launch missiles! Exterminate! "

"You can't!" said Liv, "The TARDIS hasn't got any defenses - you're going to kill him!"

"You have predicted correctly." said the first Dalek

In the TARDIS, Jack and The Doctor were manning the controls frantically, while Maddie watched on the monitor. The whole ship was shaking, "We've got incoming!" said Maddie as she watched two missiles come toward them.

The missiles hit the TARDIS but the ship just shook hard, "The extrapolator's working," said Jack, "We've got a fully functional force field. Try saying that when you're drunk…"

"And for my next trick... " said The Doctor as he threw a lever.

On the Dalek spaceship, the Daleks and Liv looked around, as they heard the sound of the TARDIS materializing. A breeze blew Liv's hair as she saw the faint outline of the TARDIS slowly appearing around her and one of the Daleks. She looked around and saw she was in the console room of the TARDIS. The Doctor, Maddie and Jack were standing by the console. When the engines stopped Maddie called out, "Liv! Get down!"

"Get down, Liv!" called The Doctor.

"Exterminate!" called the Dalek as it fired at Jack. Jack deflected the ray back at the Dalek with the large gun he was carrying. The Dalek then exploded with a scream. Liv winced and struggles to her feet as smoke billowed from the remains of the Dalek.

Maddie ran up to her sister and they hugged tightly, "It feels like I haven't seem you in years," said Liv.

The Doctor came up to them and then Liv hugged The Doctor, "Told you I'd come and get you."

They broke the hug and Liv said, "I never doubted it. "

"I did! You all right?"

"Yeah. You?"

"Not bad. Been better!" said The Doctor, as he walked over to the smoldering remains of the Dalek and looked inside while Jack walked up to Liv, "Hey, don't I get a hug?"

"Ahh, come here!" said Liv.

Jack gestured at The Doctor, "I was talking to him." the two of them laughed and hugged, "Welcome home!

"Ohh, thought I'd never see you again."

"Oh, you were lucky - I was just a one-shot wonder. Drained the gun of all its power supply. Now it's just a piece of junk."

The Doctor carefully examines the Dalek with his sonic screwdriver. Liv, Maddie and Jack bent over the Dalek and looked at it. The amour was blasted away and they could see the mutant inside. "You said they were extinct. How come they're still alive?" asked Maddie.

"One minute they're the greatest threat in the universe, the next minute they vanished out of time and space," said Jack.

"They went off to fight a bigger war... the Time War…" said The Doctor as he continued to examine the Dalek.

"I thought that was just a legend."

"I was there. The war between the Daleks and the Time Lords. With the whole of creation at stake. My people were destroyed, but they took the Daleks with them. I almost thought it was worth it. Now it turns out they died for nothing."

"There's thousands of them now," said Liv.

"We could hardly stop ONE," said Maddie, "What are we going to do?"

"No good stood round here chin-wagging!" said The Doctor cheerfully, "Human race, you'd gossip all day. The Daleks have got the answers - let's go and meet the neighbors." He started to walk down the ramp.

"You can't go out there!" said Liv. But, he had already opened the door and walked outside.

"Exterminate! Exterminate! Exterminate!" said the Daleks, as they fired at The Doctor. But nothing happened. The rays just bounced off the force field of the TARDIS, keeping everyone safe.

The Doctor raised his hands mockingly, "Is that it? Useless! Nul points." he leaned against the TARDIS and looked at Jack, Liv and Maddie, "It's all right, come on out. That force field can hold back anything."

"Almost anything," said Maddie.

"... Yes, but I wasn't gonna tell them that. Thanks."

"Sorry."

The Doctor stepped forward to talk to the Daleks, "D'you know what they call me in the ancient legends of the Dalek Homeworld? The Oncoming Storm. You might've removed all your emotions... but I reckon that right down deep in your DNA, there's one little spark left. And that's fear." The Daleks' eyepieces twitched nervously. The Doctor continued, "Doesn't it just BURN when you face me? So, tell me - how did you survive the Time War?"

"They survived through me." said a deep Dalek voice. They turned and saw a giant Dalek. They could see the mutant that was in a large open armor, towering over them.

The Doctor stared up at it in open-mouthed awe, "Liv… Maddie… Captain... this is the Emperor of the Daleks."

"You destroyed us, Doctor. The Dalek Race died in your inferno, but my ship survived, falling through time, crippled but alive."

"I get it."

"Do not interrupt!" said a Dalek.

"Do not interrupt!" said a second Dalek.

"Do not interrupt!" said a third Dalek.

Liv, Maddie and Jack flinched, but The Doctor was mildly annoyed, still strong and unwavering, The looked at the Daleks and said, "I think you're forgetting something. I'm the Doctor. And if there's one thing I can do - it's talk. I've got five billion languages, and you haven't got one way of stopping me. So if anybody's gonna shut up, it's YOU!" The Daleks slid backward slightly. The Doctor turns back the Emperor Dalek and smiled, "Okey doke. So, where were we?"

"We waited here in the dark space, damaged but rebuilding," said the Emperor Dalek, "Centuries passed, and we quietly infiltrated the systems of Earth. Harvesting the waste of humanity. The prisoners, the refugees, the dispossessed - they all came to us. The bodies were filtered, pulped, sifted. The seed of the Human Race is perverted. Only one cell in a billion was fit to be nurtured."

"So, you created an army of Daleks out of the dead." said The Doctor.

"That makes them... half human," said Maddie.

"Those words are blasphemy!" shouted the Emperor Dalek.

"Do not blaspheme!" said the first Dalek.

"Do not blaspheme!" said the second Dalek.

"Do not blaspheme!" said the third Dalek.

"Everything human has been purged. I cultivated pure and blessed Dalek," said the Emperor Dalek.

The Doctor looked around at the Daleks, "Since when did the Daleks have a concept of blasphemy?"

"I reached into the dirt and made new life. I am the God of all Daleks!"

"Worship him! Worship him! Worship him!" said the Daleks together.

The Doctor looked at his companions, "They're insane! A hundred years hiding in silence - that's enough to drive anyone mad." He looked at the Daleks and walked toward them, "But it's worse than that. Driven mad by your own flesh. The stink of humanity." he shook his head, "You hate your own existence. And that makes them more deadly than ever" he looked up at the Emperor Dalek, "We're going."

"You may NOT leave my presence!" said the Emperor Dalek. But, The Doctor and his companions ignored him they just walked back to the TARDIS.

"Stay where you are!" said the first Dalek.

The Doctor grinned at them mockingly before closing the door. "Exterminate!" cried the Daleks, as they fired fruitlessly at the TARDIS.

A short time later, the TARDIS rematerialized on Floor 500 of Satellite Five. The Doctor, Jack, and the twins walked out. The Doctor walked up to the controls and said, "Turn everything up. All transmissions, wide open, full power. Now! Do it!"

The male programmer did as he was told, "What does that do?" he asked.

"Stops the Daleks from transmatting on board. How did you get on? Did you contact Earth?"

Well, we tried to warn them, but all they did was suspend our license because we stopped the programs. "

"And the planet's just sitting there, defenseless," The Doctor saw that Lynda was still there, "Lynda, what're you still doing on board?" he looked at the Male Programmer, "I told you to evacuate everyone."

"She wouldn't go."

"Didn't wanna leave ya," said Lynda, she smiled at him.

Liv looked her up and down. She didn't like her implication.

"There weren't enough shuttles anyway, or I wouldn't be here…" said the female programmer, "We've got about a hundred people stranded on Floor Zero."

The male programmer looked at the screen, "Oh, my God. The Fleet is moving. They're on their way."

The Doctor started frantically ripping armfuls of wires out of the desks. The others just stood there watching him, "Dalek plan - big mistake," he said, "Because what have they left me with? Anyone? Anyone? Oh, come on - it's obvious. A great big transmitter - this station. If I can change the signal, fold it back, sequence it - anyone?"

Jack finally worked it out, "You've gotta be kidding." he said.

"Give the man a medal!"

"A Delta Wave?!"

"A Delta Wave!"

"What's a Delta Wave?" asked Maddie.

"A wave of Van Cassadyne energy," said Jack, "Fries your brain - stand in the way of a Delta Wave and your head gets barbequed! "

"And this place can transmit a MASSIVE wave! Wipe out the Daleks!" said The Doctor.

Liv was going to say something but Lynda jumped in "Well, get started and do it then!"

Liv gave Lynda a disapproving look. Then The Doctor said, "Trouble is, wave this size, building this big, brain as clever as mine, should take about - ooh - three days? How long till the Fleet arrive?"

The Male Programmer checked the computer, "Twenty-two minutes."

The Doctor pulled another cable from underneath the desk and stared at the end of it for a second then he looked up at the rest of them and smiled.

A few moments later Jack was sitting a computer terminal. Liv, Maddie, Lynda, and the two programmers were gathered around him, "We've now got a force field so they can't blast us out of the sky. But that doesn't stop the Daleks from physically invading."

"Do they know about the Delta Wave?" asked the male programmer.

"They'll have worked it out at the same time. So, if they want to stop the Doctor, that means they've got to get to this level - 500." he pointed at the screen, "Now, I can concentrate the extrapolator around the top six levels, 500 to 495. So, they'll penetrate the station below that at level 494 and fight their way up."

"Who're they fighting?"

"Us."

"And... what're we fighting with?"

"The guards had guns with bastic bullets - that's enough to blow a Dalek wide open."

"There's SIX of us," said the female programmer.

The Doctor was still working on the wires, "Liv, Maddie, you can help me. I need all these wires stripped bare."

The twins went over to him, "Right! Now there's FOUR of us!"

'Then let's move it! Into the lift! Isolate the lift controls!" said Jack.

The two programmers ran off. Lynda walked up to The Doctor and he stood up to meet her, "I - I just wanna say, um... thanks, I s'pose," said Lynda, "And... I'll do my best!"

"Me too," said The Doctor. They couldn't decide between a hug, a handshake or a kiss on the cheek. At one point it looked like The Doctor was going to kiss her forehead, but they settled on a handshake. They laughed embarrassedly. Liv just looked at Linda with daggers.

Lynda headed off then Jack came up to them. "It's been fun!" said Jack, "But I guess this is goodbye."

"Don't talk like that," said Maddie.

"The Doctor's going to do it," said Liv, "You just watch him."

"Maddie… Liv… You are both worth fighting for." He cupped each girls face with his hands and then gave them each a brief kiss on the lips Then, he turned to The Doctor with a grin, "Wish I'd never met you, Doctor!" he cupped The Doctor's face with his hands, "I was much better off as a coward." Then he kissed The Doctor on the lips. Then he looked at the three of them, "See ya in hell." then he ran off.

Liv looked at The Doctor, "He's gonna be all right... isn't he?" The Doctor didn't answer.

A little while later, Liv, Maddie and The Doctor were sitting on the floor, while The Doctor worked on hooking wires up. It was very quiet because the three of them were the only people left on Floor 500, "Suppose... " said Maddie, but she didn't finish her sentence.

"What?" asked The Doctor after a moment.

"Nothing."

"You said 'suppose'."

"Well, I was just thinking... I mean, obviously you can't, but... you've got a time machine. Why can't you just go back to last week and warn them?"

The Doctor didn't look up from his work, "Soon as the TARDIS lands in that second, I become part of events. Stuck in the timeline."

Maddie nodded, "Yeah, thought it'd be something like that…"

"There's another thing the TARDIS could do... it could take us away…" said The Doctor. Liv looked at him with a small smile. "We could leave. Let history take its course. We go to Marbella in 1989. "

"Yeah, but you'd never do that," said Liv.

The Doctor looked her in the eyes, "No, but you could ask." Liv didn't say anything. Then, The Doctor said, "Never even occurred to you, did it?"

"Well, I'm just too good!" said Liv. The Doctor smiled at her.

Just then the computer whirred in the background. The Doctor looked over at it, "The Delta Wave's started building. How long does it need?"

The there of them leapt to their feet and rushed over to the computer. The Doctor sat in one of the chairs while the twins looked over his shoulders. He pressed a few buttons and stared at the monitor and his face fell. "Is that bad?" asked Maddie. There was no reply, "Okay, it's bad. How bad is it?"

The Doctor suddenly perked up and leapt to his feet, his eyes bright, "Maddie Rooney, you're a GENIUS!" Maddie smiled. Then he placed a kiss on he forehead, "We can do it! If I use the TARDIS to cross my old timeline... Yes!" The Doctor ran to the TARDIS with the twins close behind him. They ran inside and up to the console, "Maddie, hold that down and keep position. Liv, you hold that lever down."

"What are we doing?" asked Liv.

"Canceling the buffers," said The Doctor, "If I'm very clever - and I'm more than clever, I'm BRILLIANT - I might just save the world. Or rip it apart…"

"I'd prefer the first one," said Maddie.

"Me too," said The Doctor, "Now, I've just got to go and power up the Game Station. Hold on!"

He ran out the TARDIS, full of energy. The Door shut behind him. Then the TARDIS started up and the rotor started to rise and fall.

"Doctor, what're you doing?" asked Liv.

"Should we let go?" asked Maddie, "It's moving."

The twins let go of their levers and ran to the door and found it locked. "Doctor!" shouted Liv as she pounded on the door, "Let us out!"

"Let us out!" said Maddie, "Doctor, are you doing?"

The twins continued to pound on the door. Then they heard The Doctor's voice, "This is Emergency Program One." they turned and saw a greenish hologram of The Doctor standing there, "Liv and Maddie, Listen, this is important. If this message is activated, then it can only mean one thing. We must be in danger. And I mean fatal. I'm dead or about to die any second with no chance of escape."

"No!" said Liv as she moved toward the hologram.

"And that's okay. Hope it's a good death," said The Doctor's hologram. The twins stopped at the top of the ramp and just stared at him, "But I promised to look after you two and that's what I'm doing. The TARDIS is taking you home."

"I won't let you," said Liv.

"Right we're all in this together," said Maddie.

"And I bet you're both fussing and moaning now - typical. But hold on and just listen a bit more. The TARDIS can never return for me. Emergency Program One means I'm facing an enemy that should never get their hands on this machine. So this is what you should do: let the TARDIS die. Just let this old box gather dust. No one can open it; no one will even notice it. Let it become a strange little thing standing on a street corner. And over the years, the world will move on and the box will be buried. And if you want to remember me, then you can do one thing. That's all. One thing. Have a good life both of you. Do that for me, Liv and Maddie. Have a fantastic life." then the hologram faded away.

"You can't do this to me," said Liv as she marched over to the console, "You can't." she tried every button and lever and screamed in desperation, "Take me back! Take me back!"

Maddie couldn't believe her sister's reaction to what was going on. Of course, she was upset that it was ending like this, but nowhere near they way Liv was acting. Maddie had suspected that Liv was starting to fall for the Time Lord and every time she asked her sister about it, she denied it. But there was no denying it now.

Soon the engines stopped and Liv ran out of the door and they found themselves in the park in Stevens Point near Liv and Maddie's house. Liv ran to the controls and again tried to get the TARDIS to start, "Come on, start! How do you start this thing?! Come on, HELP ME!" But nothing worked. She fell to the floor crying. Maddie went to her sister and wrapped her arms around her to comfort her.

A little while later, Liv and Maddie walked out of the TARDIS. Just as they did Diggie was walking toward them, "I knew it! I was in my backyard shooting some free throws and I heard the engines and I thought 'there's only one thing that makes a noise like that'." Then he saw that Liv's eyes were red from crying, "What is it? What's wrong?"

Liv then wrapped her arms around her sister and started crying into Maddie's shoulder, "It's a long story…" said Maddie as she comforted her sister.

A couple of days later, Liv, Maddie and Diggie were in the food court at the mall having lunch. Maddie was finding it easy to slide back into a normal life. Liv wasn't thought. She sill missed The Doctor so much. She hadn't gotten out of bed since they got back home. The girls' mom insisted that Liv needed to get out and get some fresh air. So, Maddie and Diggie took Liv shopping. But, Liv just wasn't into it. She couldn't get he mind off The Doctor. She loved him so much and she was never to going to see him again.

Maddie and Diggie were eating and talking. Liv was just looking out the window, her food was untouched. Maddie looked at her sister, "Liv, please, you need to eat…" Liv hadn't really eaten much since they got back.

"Two hundred thousand years in the future," said Liv as she looked out the window, "He's dying, and there's NOTHING I can do."

"Well, two hundred thousand years is far in the future…" said Diggie.

Liv turned and looked at her sister and her boyfriend, "But it's not in the future! That fight is happening right now, and he's fighting for us! For the whole planet, and we're just sitting here eating fries!" she shouted.

Maddie looked right at her sister, "Olivia… Listen to me" Liv knew that Maddie meant business when she used her full first name. "I hate The Doctor for doing what he did… but he did the right thing… He sent us home… to everyone we love…" Maddie took Diggie's hand

"But what do I do every day, Maddie? What do I do? Get up, go to school, come home, do homework, eat dinner and go to bed? Is that it?"

"It's what a lot of people do," said Diggie.

"But I can't!"

"Why, Because you're better than us?"

"No, I didn't mean it like that…" said Liv, she paused a moment then said, "The Doctor showed us so many wonderful things… took us to so many wonderful places… It's hard to give that all up and… I never got to say good bye… " Then, she got up and ran out of the food court.

Maddie and Diggie found Liv sitting on a bench near a playground close to the mall. Maddie sat down next to her sister, "Liv… You can't spend the rest of your life thinking about the Doctor."

"I know…" said Liv, "But how do I forget him?"

"You can't just mope around our room. You've got to live your life… he would have wanted it that way.."

"I know…" said Liv. But then she saw something spray painted on the near by basketball court. She stood up and looked at the writing, it read 'BAD WOLF' Then, she looked up and on a near by brick wall she saw 'Bad Wolf' written several times, "Over here. It's over here as well!"

Maddie and Diggie followed her, "That's been there for years! Nobody knows what it means…" said Diggie.

Liv smiled, "I thought it was a warning... But maybe it's the opposite. Maybe it's a message. The same words written down now and two hundred thousand years in the future. It's a link between me and the Doctor! Bad Wolf here... Bad Wolf there!"

"But if it's a message, what's it saying?" asked Maddie.

Liv started to run off, "It's telling us we can go back! The least we can do is help him escape!"

Liv, Maddie and Diggie walked into the TARDIS, "All the TARDIS needs to do is make a return trip." said Liv.

"Yeah, but we still can't fly the TARDIS," said Maddie, "Even if we knew how, The Doctor locked the controls."

"The Doctor always said the TARDIS is telepathic. This thing is alive. It can listen to us."

"It's not listening now, is it?" said Diggie.

"We need to get inside it," said Liv she looked at Diggie, "Remember the last time you were with us, this panel opened up and there was this light... and the Doctor said it was the heart of the TARDIS. If we can open it, we can make contact. I can tell it what to do!"

"Liv…" said Diggie, "From what you and Maddie have told me… If we you two go back there's a chance two won't come back."

"I know," said Liv, "But, we've got to try… He's saved our lives so many times… We owe it to him…"

Maddie thought for a moment, "She's right… " said Maddie as she looked at Diggie. "We owe The Doctor… From the first moment we met him he saved our lives… Now it's our turn…"

Diggie nodded, "OK… Let's do it…" Diggie didn't want Maddie to do this. He loved her and the thought of never seeing her again killed him. But, he knew he need to support her and her sister.

A short time later, they ran a thick, strong chain from Diggie's Ford F-150 to the console. Liv and Maddie stood outside the TARDIS and Maddie waved to Diggie for him to start. He put the truck into gear and stepped on the gas. The twins looked inside and saw the panel wouldn't budge "Faster!" called Maddie.

Diggie stepped hard on the gas. Smoke was coming from the tires but the panel still didn't open. "It's not moving!" said Maddie.

After several moments of spinning his tires, Diggie stopped and got out of the truck. He walked up to his girlfriend and her sister… "It's no use… We're going to need more power. "

A while later, they had replaced Diggie's truck with a huge John Deere tractor that Diggie barrowed from a friend. They hooked the chain up to the tractor. Maddie was standing by the TARDIS doors. Diggie was at the wheel of the tractor and Liv was standing by the console. The chain was stretching and stretching. "Keep going!" said Liv shouted to Maddie.

"Put your foot down!" Maddie called to Diggie.

Diggie gave the tractor everything he could.

"Faster!" called Liv.

"Give it some more, Diggie!" said Maddie.

The metal began to creak, "Keep going!"

"Come on, come on!"

The creaking got louder, "Keep going! "

"Give it some more!"

Then the catch ripped off and the panel flew open. Liv walked around the console to look into the golden light coming from the heart of the TARDIS. A breeze started to blow her hair and then the light started to flow into her eyes in two golden streams.

Maddie then ran into the TARDIS to see if the panel open. She saw her sister standing in front of the panel. She was silhouetted by the light coming from the console. "Liv?" she asked. She was startled when the doors behind her slammed shut, then the TARDIS' engines came to life. She walked up to her sister, she shielded her eyes from the bright light, "Liv… Are you OK?"

Liv looked at Maddie. Maddie gasped when she saw Liv's eyes. They were full of golden light. Liv smiled, "Yes… I'm fine… Everything's going to be fine…"

Diggie was left outside watching the TARDIS dematerializes, "Good Luck…" he said as the TARDIS vanished.

Back on Satellite 5, things were not going good. The Daleks had killed everyone who got in their way from reaching The Doctor, including Jack. The Doctor had finish creating the Device to make the Delta Wave. But there was no way to refine the signal in time. The Delta Wave would kill every living thing around Earth. Human, Dalek, and Time Lord. That was the reason why he sent Liv and Maddie away. He couldn't kill them. They were the best thing to happen to him since the Time War.

He pulled up the lever on the device, "It's ready!" he said sounding amazed. Just then Daleks began filing into the room and surround him, "You really wanna think about this. 'Cos if I activate the signal, every living creature dies."

"I am immortal," said the emperor Dalek, on the main view screen of the control room.

"D'you wanna put that to the test?"

"I want to see you become like me. Hail the Doctor, the Great Exterminator!"

The Doctor put his hands on the lever of the device and shouted at the screen, "I'll do it!"

"Then prove yourself, Doctor. What are you - coward or killer?"

The Doctor held onto the lever but he just couldn't do it. He let go of the device, "Coward. Any day."

"Mankind will be harvested because of your weakness."

"And what about me? Am I becoming one of your angels?"

"You are the Heathen. You will be exterminated."

"Maybe it's time," said The Doctor. He closed his eyes and then he heard the one sound he never thought he would. The sound of the TARDIS' engines.

"Alert! TARDIS materialising!" said one of the Daleks.

The Doctor's eyes snapped open and he spun around in shock.

"You will not escape!" said the Emperor Dalek.

The TARDIS fully materialized and the doors flew open. The Doctor put a hand over his eyes as a blinding golden light poured out of it. In the doorway stood Liv and Maddie. Rose. The Doctor stared awestruck as the light curls around Liv as she steps forward. Maddie walked few steps behind her sister. The Doctor stumbled backward and fell to the floor, "What've you done?" asked The Doctor sounding scared.

"We opened the console," said Maddie, she sound just as scared as The Doctor.

Liv looked down at The Doctor. He could see her eyes full of golden light, "I looked into the TARDIS," said Liv, "And the TARDIS looked into me."

"You looked into the Time Vortex," said The Doctor, "Liv, no one's meant to see that!"

"This is the abomination!" said the Emperor Dalek

"Exterminate!" said the Dalek as it fired at Liv. She held up her hand and the bolt freezed and then went back into the Daleks gun.

The Doctor and Maddie just looked on in amazment.

"I am the Bad Wolf," announced Liv, "I create myself. I take the words…" She looked up and saw 'BAD WOLF CORPORATION' written high on the wall. Liv waved her hand and continued, "I scatter them in time and space." The words 'Bad Wolf' floated off the wall and disappeared, "A message to lead myself here"

"Liv, you've got to stop this. You've got to stop this now," said The Doctor, "You've got the entire vortex running through your head. You're gonna burn. "

"I want you safe," Liv looked down at him, with tears falling from her cheeks, "My Doctor. Protected from the false God."

"You cannot hurt me. I am immortal." announced the Emperor Dalek

"You are tiny. I can see the whole of time and space - every single atom of your existence, and I divide them," She raised her hand and the Dalek who fired at her started to disintegrate into golden, liquid-like particles, "Everything must come to dust... all things. Everything dies." Liv looked to her side and the other Daleks turned into golden particles, "The Time War ends."

"I will not die. I cannot die!" shouted the Emperor Dalek as it ship was reduced into golden particles and dissolved into nothing.

Liv stood there on with her arms raised, staring straight ahead, shaking. Maddie went up to her sister, "Liv, you've done it. You saved The Doctor… Now stop. You need to let go of the Time Vortex."

Liv turned to her sister, "How can I let go of this?" she asked in a hushed, blissful tone. Liv knew that Jack was dead then she said, "I bring life…"

In a corridor of Floor 500, Jack came back to life with a took a huge intake of breath and his eyes snapped open.

Back in the control room, Maddie didn't know that her sister had brought Jack to life. Maddie didn't even know that Jack was dead. Maddie looked at Liv and said in a terrified tone of voice, "But this is wrong! You can't control life and death!"

"But I can. The sun and the moon... the day and night," Liv's voice started to tremble. She looked at The Doctor and said, "But why do they hurt...?"

"The power's gonna kill you and it's my fault," said The Doctor desperately, then he lowered his head.

A tear fell from her eyes, "I can see everything." The Doctor raised his head and looked up at Liv, "All that is... all that was... all that ever could be."

The Doctor stood up quickly, looked down at her and said, "That's what I see. All the time. And doesn't it drive you mad?"

Liv started to get scared, "My head…"

"Come here."

"... it's killing me…"

The Doctor took her hands, "I think you need a Doctor." The Doctor gazed into her eyes. Then, he gently and carefully leaned down and presses his lips against hers. As he kissed her, the Time Vortex flowed out of her eyes and into his. They broke the kiss slowly and they gaze at each other for a few more moments before Liv's eyes flutter closed and she falls into his arms, unconscious.

Maddie came over and helped The Doctor lower Liv to the floor, "Is she going to be OK?" she asked she knelt down next to her unconscious sister.

The Doctor stood and slowly exhaled and the Time Vortex left his body through his mouth and streamed back into the TARDIS. The Doctor opened his eyes and smiled softly to himself. Maddie didn't see any of that because she was looking down at her sister. The Doctor then knelt down next to Liv and stroked her face…"Yes… She'll be just fine… Come on let's get her back to the TARDIS and get out of here."

The Doctor and Maddie carried Liv into the TARDIS and laid her on the floor next to the console. The Doctor started the TARDIS and Maddie called Diggie to let him know that they were OK. A few moments later, Liv woke up sounding very disoriented, "What happened?"

Maddie went over to her sister and helped her sit up, "Don't you remember?"

"Sort of," said Liv, " there was this singing... "

"That's right!" said The Doctor happily, "I sang a song and the Daleks ran away."

Liv struggled to remember, "Maddie and I were back home… No we were in the TARDIS and… I can't remember anything else…"

While Liv was talking The Doctor glanced down at his left hand. The veins shimmered with a golden light for a moment, and then it was gone. The Doctor looks at his companions and smiled, "Liv and Maddie Rooney," he gave a small laugh, "I was gonna take you both to so many places. Barcelona - not the city Barcelona, the planet. You'd love it. Fantastic place - they've got dogs with no noses."

"If they don't have noses how do they smell?" asked Maddie.

"Awful," said The Doctor as he laughed at his own joke. Liv giggled and Maddie rolled her eyes, "Imagine how many times a day you end up telling that joke, and it's still funny!" said The Doctor.

"Why can't we go?" asked Liv.

"Maybe you will. And maybe I will. But not like this." The Doctor turned to the monitor with a vague smile on his face.

Liv stood up, "You're not making sense!"

"I might never make sense again! I might have two heads. Or no head!" He laughed. Liv and Maddie were confused by what their friend was saying, "Imagine me with no head! And don't say that's an improvement... But it's a bit dodgy, this process. You never know what you're gonna end up with-" Then all of the sudden he was knocked backward with a blast of golden light.

He clutches his stomach as if he had been punched. Liv and Maddie rushes forward, "Doctor!" said Liv and Maddie together

"Stay away!" shouted The Doctor as he winced it pain.

They stopped and Liv said, "Doctor, what's going on?"

"I absorbed all the energy of the Time Vortex, and no one's meant to do that!" he closed his eyes in pain, "Every cell in my body's dying."

"Can't you do something?" asked Liv.

"Yeah, I'm doing it now! Time Lords have this little trick, it's... sort of a way of cheating death. Except…"The Doctor looked right into Liv's eyes, "It means I'm gonna change." Liv shook her head. Then The Doctor continued, "And I'm not gonna see you again. Not like this. Not with this daft old face." he laughed, "And before I go…"

"Don't say that."

"Liv… Maddie… Before I go, I just wanna tell you, you were fantastic… Both of you…" he smiled at them, "Absolutely fantastic. And d'you know what?" The twins shook their heads. The Doctor grinned, "So was I. "

The girls smiled at him and nodded. The Doctor smiled at them for a few moment then he convulsed and his body exploded in orange energy. It blasted out of the neck of his shirt, the sleeves of his jacket and the bottom of his pants. Liv and Maddie staggered backwards and shielded their eyes from the heat and light, but they couldn't look away.

They watched as The Doctor's hair got longer, his face changed, and he got thinner. Then, the energy died away suddenly and a completely new man was standing in front of them. He was wearing the same clothes as the old Doctor, but he had much longer hair and a bit thinner. He looked slightly surprised for a moment, before turning to look at Liv and Maddie, "Hello! Okay-oo." he said in a much different type of English accent. He gulped and the twins just stared at him as he ran his tongue over his teeth, "New teeth. That's weird. So, where was I? Oh, that's right! Barcelona."

The twins just looked at him in shock as he gave them a grin. Then he ran over to the console and flipped a few switches, and checked the monitor, "6 PM... Tuesday... October... 5006... on the way to Barcelona!" He looked at Liv and Maddie and grinned, "Now then... what do I look like?" before he gave them a chance to reply before holding up a hand to silence her, "No, no no, no no no no no no no. No. Don't tell me. Let's see... two legs, two arms, two hands…" He twisted one wrist with the other hand, "Slight weakness in the dorsal tubercle." Then his hands flew up to his head, "HAIR! I'm not bald!" The Doctor ran his hands through his hair with a big smile, "Oh - Oh! Big hair!" His hands moved down to the side of his hand, "Sideburns - I've got sideburns! Or really bad skin. Little bit thinner…" he slapped his stomach, "That's weird. Give me time, I'll get used to it." He shiffed his body around, "I... have got... a mole. I can feel it."

Liv and Maddie both looked at each other. They were both scared out of their minds. The man that was their friend exploded and changed. The Doctor didn't seem to notice, "Between my shoulder blades, there's a mole," said The Doctor as he rotated his shoulders, "That's all right. Love the mole." Then he looked at his companions and grinned "Go on then, tell me." he stood up straight, "What do you think?"

"Who are you?" asked Maddie.

"I'm the Doctor," he said sounding a bit surprised.

Liv shook her head, "No... where is he? Where's the Doctor?" her voice rose, "What have you done to him?"

"You both saw me, I- I changed…" he pointed over his shoulder to the spot where he regenerated, "... right in front of you."

"We saw him sort of explode, and then you replaced him, like a... a teleport or a transmat or a body swap or something," said Liv. She took a few steps towards him. When she was arms length away, she pushed him in the chest, "You're not fooling me." The Doctor rocked back on his heels.

Maddie walked up to them and said, "You know since we've been traveling with The Doctor we've seen all sorts of things. Nano genes... Gelth... Slitheen…"

The Doctor raised his eyebrows then Liv gasped, "Oh, my God, are you a Slitheen?"

"I'm not a Slitheen," said The Doctor calmy.

"Send him back," Liv started to shout, "I'm warning you, send the Doctor back right now!"

"Liv, it's me," pleaded The Doctor, "Honestly, it's me. I was dying. To save my own life I changed my body. Every single cell, but... it's still me."

"You can't be," said Maddie.

"Prove it," said Liv.

The Doctor took a few steps closer to Liv. He looked straight into her eyes, "Then how could I remember this? Very first word I ever said to you two. Trapped in that cellar. Surrounded by shop window dummies... Oh…" he looked away for a moment as he thought back. Then he looked back into her eyes, "... such a long time ago. I took your sisters' hand…" To emphasize his point, he took Liv's hand. She glanced briefly down at their hands and then back up at his face. Then The Doctor said, "I said one word... just one word, I said... 'run'."

He looked at her and she looked back at him with tears in her eyes, "Doctor." Liv whispered.

The Doctor grinned, "Hello." Liv sighed exasperated and stumbled backwards. The Doctor walked around to the other side of the console. "And we never stopped, did we? All across the universe. Running, running, running…" he flicked a few switches on the console, "One time we had to hop. Do you remember? Hopping for our lives." He then started to hop up and down on one foot. Liv backed againt the piller Maddie walked up to her and rubbed her back in comfort as they watched him, "Yeah? All that hopping? Remember hopping for your life? Yeah?! Hop? With the…" He stopped hopping when he saw his companions weren't responding, "... no?"

"Can you change back?" asked Liv.

"Do you want me to?"

"Yeah."

"Oh."

"Can you?"

"No," he glanced down at the floor and back up at her, "Do you want to leave?"

"Do you want me to leave?"

"No! But... your choice... if you want to go home…" He walked back to the console, "Cancel Barcelona. Change to... Wisconsin... Stevens Point... ah... let's say the 24th of December," he looked up at Liv and Maddie, "Consider it a Christmas present." The twins walked closer to the console., "There." said The Doctor. He stepped back from the console and tucked his arms under his armpits defensively.

Liv and Maddie looked at him and then at the console. The TARDIS shuttered as it changed direction, "Your taking us home?" asked Maddie.

"It's up to you. Back to your family... it's all waiting. Bratwurst, Sausage, Cheese- no, Christmas! Turkey! Although... having met your mother... nut loaf would be more appropriate."

Both of the twins laughed a little at that last comment, "Was that a smile?"

"No," said Liv and Maddie as they tried to hide their smiles.

The Doctor looked at Maddie "That was a smile…"

"No it wasn't." said Maddie.

He turned to Liv, "You smiled…"

"No I didn't." said Liv.

"Oh, come on, all I did was change, I didn't-" All of the sudden gagged and the TARDIS shudders.

"What?"

"I said I didn't-" The TARDIS shook again more violently and The Doctor started to make horrible retching noises. "Uh oh."

Liv and Maddie walked cautiously around the console, "Are you alright?" asked Liv.

A burst of orange energy came out of the Doctor's mouth, "What's that?" asked Maddie.

"Oh... the change is going a bit wrong and all," said The Doctor. He coughed again and fell to his knees. His face winced with pain.

"Maybe we should go back to Satellite 5 and find Captain Jack," said Maddie, "he might know what to do."

"Gah, he's busy!" said The Doctor impatiently, "He's got plenty to do rebuilding the Earth!" a lever on the console caught his eye, "I haven't used this one in years." He pulled it down and the TARDIS shuddered so hard, the three of them were nearly knocked off their feet.

"What're you doing?!" asked Liv.

"Putting on a bit of speed! That's it!" said The Doctor crazily, as he turned more knobs on the console. Liv and Maddie tried to hold onto the console, "My beautiful ship! Come on, faster! That's a girl!" The girls started to get more worried. The Doctor was starting to look and sound more crazy, "Faster! Wanna to break the time limit?!"

"Stop it!" shouted Maddie.

"Ah, don't be so dull - let's have a bit of fun! Let's rip through that vortex!" The Doctor looked at his companions and saw how scared they were his voice callmed to normal for a moment, "The regeneration's going wrong. I can't stop myself." Then he grimaced in pain, "Ah, my head…" Then he stood straight up and his voice went back to being crazed, "Faster! Let's open those engines!"

Just then they heard a strange bell ringing from deep inside the TARDIS, "What's that?" asked Liv.

The Doctor popped up next to her scaring her slightly, "We're gonna crash land!" he said in a crazy happy tone. Then he started to laugh manically.

"Well then, do something!"

"Too late! Out of control!" said The Doctor as he ran around the console giggling, "Oh, I love it! Hot dawg!" he hopped in the air excitedly.

"You're going to kill us!" shouted Maddie.

"Hold on tight, here we go!" shouted The Doctor. As they all head onto the console. They all looked at each other across the console. The Doctor was grinning madly. Liv and Maddie were scared, "Christmas Eve...!" shouted The Doctor!

A/N: I'm kind of proud of this chapter. I think it sets up the future perfectly and I like how the middle section turned out when The Doctor sent Liv and Maddie back home. As always, if you like this story, leave a review. Like and Follow if you haven't all ready.
