After being reminded many times by Jilladelphia to update the story here I am bringing in my portion of the story. I apologize for procrastinating this. I did do Nanowrimo as well and had big plans to finish my story, but I ruined the flow of the story and was unable to kill off my main character because I had become too attached to them.

Enough of me rambling, here's the story...

PIPER

At the end of the Choosing Ceremony I had followed the rest of the Amity people to wherever they went. We ended up in a huge parking lot with wagons attached to old looking tow trucks. I stopped before I went any further and watched the others on what to do.

I heard a lot of "Yee-hahs!", "Good days!", and "Welcome to our factions!". Annabeth wasn't kidding when she said these people were upbeat like they are characters in a toddler's show. Those people always freaked me out. I saw all the wagons being filled up. I became afraid that I was going to be left behind. I can't let that happen.

"Hey brunette girl!" I looked up towards the voice. I met eyes with another girl who smiled back at me. She has brown eyes and white-blonde hair. She waved at me and I uncertainly waved back. "What are you waiting for? Come up here we have an empty seat!" She patted a spot next to her unoccupied by anyone.

I got up on the wagon and sat in the empty spot. The girl held out her hand, "My name's Periwinkle but call me Perri." Perri seemed the type to go out and make everyone's business her business. I thought I wouldn't make any more friends here so I shook her hand and introduced myself. She laughed at my name.

"I absolutely couldn't wait for the initiation. I'm Amity born and my parents always told me the transition into being a full Amity is the best part." She rambled on and on. I glanced around the wagon and saw people adamantly talking to each other. But, I did see one kid across from us wearing black eyeliner and looking...not as loquacious as the rest of the Amity.

Perri caught my gaze mid sentence of whatever she was rambling on about. "Oh him?" She questioned, "That's Billie Joe. He's a Dauntless transfer from last year. Johanna let him keep the eyeliner. I don't know why. It kills the mood."

"Who's Johanna?" I asked.

"That would be me." The lady across from us replied. She has a huge scar going down one side of her face. "I'm the Amity representative."

I nodded. I looked at the scene around us as the wagons were pulled towards a more rural part of Chicago. Then that's when I heard it. The strumming of an acoustic guitar from the center wagon. The guy playing even had an amp so all of us could hear it. Perri swayed to the music and whispered, "It's part of the initiation. We all have to sing a song about peace."

Fantastic. I'm well known for my great singing voice. The only time I actually used singing for good was when I got those Gaea snake minions to let us pass. I can't use charm speak on the Amity because I think they'll be aware of it or something and they'll kick me out. I would rather be anywhere but here but I need to stay here for the quest.

Guitar boy stopped playing for a moment and yelled, "Johanna! Who's up first?"

No surprise. Johanna looked right at me like she was staring into my soul. It was creepy. "I think we should have Piper go up first."

I had to think of a good song and quick. None of my grandfather's Cherokee songs are gonna help me here. I needed to think of something. What was that one song my dad always kept on when the radio played it? It's a classic. Come on, think! Wait, I got it.

The Amity waited until I piped up, "Just a small town girl, living in a lonely world..."

Then before I knew it I had the entire Amity faction obsessed with this song. I could hear "Don't Stop Believin'" every second of the day. I could hear it in the middle of the night through the walls of other rooms. I could hear it in whispers as an instructor was teaching us how to take care of the crops. I'm pretty sure Johanna is not going to stop it any time soon since she seems like the type to let others see the effects of their actions.

So far it's been a few days in the Amity faction. No one has gotten kicked out yet except for one guy who couldn't handle the music anymore and went to the factionless. For some reason I've been in higher spirits. I don't know why. I don't like farming. I don't like singing. It doesn't make any sense.

We finished harvesting a new batch of wheat today. Perri says they're going to use this to make some homemade Amity bread for dinner tonight. "You won't believe how great our bread is. It's the pride of our faction!" She had said. I was looking forward to it.

I didn't see that Billie Joe guy much. Perri explained that there are two types of people in Amity, the farmers and the artists. The farmers work in the field and produce the food all the factions have. The artists make art, music, and put on plays for the factions. Apparently Billie Joe was the artist type.

I followed Perri to the dining area. I sat next to her while she was talking to some of her friends. The other Amity people filed in soon after. The chefs then served us their famous Amity bread and a fruit salad. I grabbed a piece of the bread. It did smell good. I was about to take a bite when the bread got slapped out of my hand.

"What are you doing?! You don't want to be an Amity idiot do you?" I looked to my right and noticed an angry Billie Joe. "That stuff is filled with peace serum. You'll be as over happy as the rest of these people are." He cleared his facial expression before any one noticed.

"How do you know that?" I asked.

"I'm one of the few good demigods that live here. Chiron notified me of your quest and asked me to help out. By eating that bread you'll forget the reason why you're here and go off into a land of fruit loops with the rest of the Amity faction." He explained.

I was about to ask something else when I noticed Perri having a wider smile than she usually does and the Amity initiates more...lively than usual. I'm now even more terrified of these people.

Billie Joe continued, "After dinner some of the initiates are supposed to go to the other factions to deliver food. I'm supposed to help look out for them and I think it will be a good idea to come see what the other factions are like. Also you'll get a break from everyone singing Journey 24/7."

I sighed in relief, "Finally."
