I stared at Beck for awhile; in shock sort of.
"Where...Where is she?" I stammer.
"She's being fought in an underground supernatural fighting ring; The Ring Of Death." He answers calmly. My eyes grew wide, then narrowed at him suspiciously.
"How do you even know about this?" I demand. Beck casted his gaze downwards.
"Sikowitz goes to the fights just to see what the animals are capable of. He's always been fascinated with the more animalistic supernatural. Anyway he saw your dog, he said that at first she was loosing. That the other shapeshifter changed into me and taunted her about...our night." Beck paused and looked at me; passion sparkling in his eyes. My heart sank...poor Vic. I hadn't wanted her to find out that way...I wanted for her to at least hear it from me.
"The dog did good, though. Sikowitz said her opponent got the first hit. The thing tore into the mutt like there was no tomorrow. But just when everyone thought she was dead, she sprung up and killed the other shapeshifter." Beck continued with a sigh. I let out a breath of relief.
"So, how are we going to get her out?" I ask. Beck started to pace around my kitchen.
"Well, they'll let me in because I'm a vampire. But humans aren't allowed. I could give you some of my blood, so that you'd have the strength of a vampire and you could smell like one. We could borrow one of the dogs from that pack of mutts, and tell the demon guards that we're dropping it off to fight." Beck explained. He looked at me for clarification. I was about to agree when my brother spoke up.
"I know I'm new to this whole Supernatural thing, but wouldn't him giving you more of his blood increase your already increased feelings for him?" Kyle questioned narrowing his eyes at Beck.
"I'm willing to take that chance to save Vic. I owe her my life." I say after a moment. I nod to Beck.
"We're going with your plan." I tell him. Beck smirks.
"I knew you'd come around." He says smugly. I just roll my eyes. Kyle scratches the back of his neck uncomfortably.
"Well, won't you need like back up or something? I mean you can't just charge into a place filled with evil vampires and demons!" Kyle argues.
"The rest of the pack will be posted around the perimeter, they can hide behind all the trees and shit. Besides what's a human gonna do to a vampire or demon." Beck demanded. Kyle smirks.
"Follow me." He says simply, then heads toward the basement door. He pulls a key out of his back pocket. He began to unlock three or four heavy duty locks then he proceeded to go down into the basement. Beck and I cast bewildered glances at each other, before following my brother down the steps of the basement. I've never been in our basement, I haven't had a reason to. When we reached the bottom of the steps, Kyle flicked the lights on. Weapons; guns, grenades, crosses, and a bunch of other dangerous things were all over the place.
"This is how a human fights back." Kyle said looking at Beck with a smug look. Beck rolled his eyes and crossed his arms over his chest.
"What kills a demon?" I asked.
"An Exorcist." Kyle joked, Beck chortled.
"Ha, Ha. Very funny." I say sarcastically as glared at both of them.
"I'm being serious, Kyle. Vic's life is hanging in the balance." I told him sternly. He stopped laughing and frowned slightly.
"Well to truly kill them, a Grimm Reaper would have to Reap them-"
"What's a Grimm Reaper?" I interrupt Kyle. He blinked at me then looked to Beck, who just shrugged.
"She didn't ask for a list of Supernaturals and all that stuff. The dog and I didn't really think about teaching her the basics." Beck said simply.
"Well, Victoria probably wanted to keep her safe by keeping her in the dark. You, on the other hand were under the impression that she was your dead girlfriend." Kyle retorted. Beck glared at my brother something fierce.
"Watch it, mortal, I can snap your neck like a twig." Beck threatened through gritted teeth. Kyle picked up a crossbow; with a wooden stake in the launcher, that was lying on the huge steel slab in the middle of the room and aimed it at Beck.
"Try it, Leech, I dare you." Kyle challenged. I rolled my eyes and groaned.
"Will, somebody please just tell me what the fuck a Grimm Reaper is?!" I snap at the two arguing idiots. Kyle heaved a heavy sigh then put the crossbow down and turned to me.
"A Grimm Reaper is a collector of souls. He decides your final fate. If your soul is pure; it'll be a blue-ish color, then he'll send you to y'know, Heaven." Kyle explained.
"But if you're soul is dark; it'll be black, if you're not a demon already he'll send you to Hell. If you are a demon, he'll reap your soul after you die...he'll slash it with his scythe." Kyle added when I gave him a confused look.
"Oh." I say awkwardly.
"But, since none of us are Grimm Reapers...Holy Water and crosses are our best options. You could also decapitate them but their pretty fast and they have powers...and they're evil and filled with pure rage...and why are we trying to fight a bunch of demons?" Kyle said with a whine.
"So we can get Vic out of that place." I say through gritted teeth. I sighed then started to pace.
"So, how are we gonna do this?" Beck asked me from his post against the wall. I groaned.
'When did I get put in charge?' I thought angrily.
"Well, I figured Kyle's got weapons. You're in charge of getting one of the wolves to come with us. And you also have to convince them, to come as back up. I'll go to Cat's and see if she can help in anyway." I say with a sigh. Beck groans then speeds out the door. I nod to my brother before heading up the steps.
Beck
'Oh, sure! She sends me on the impossible job.' I think to myself as I cautiously make my way up the stone path to the large Ojibwa cabin. A black wolf; that shrunk in size since the other mutt was named head Alpha, crept up from behind the house. He was followed by a similar sized white wolf. Once they spotted me they growled and rushed in front of the cabin. I tensed and raised my hands in surrender.
"I'm not here to hurt you, I just want to talk!" I said quickly. The black wolf growled at me but the white one remained silent; just watching me curiously.
"And why should we trust you, leech?" A large dark gray wolf snarled at me as he came up to stand next to the two other wolves.
"Because I know where your Alpha is." I tell them with a smirk firmly in place on my lips. The dark gray wolf growled at me but stayed in place.
"What do you need?" The dark wolf growled. My smirk grew.
"Well, first off she's alive. But she's been put into the Ring." I answered. The white wolf whimpered.
"Tori..." It whimpered again, in a feminine tone.
"I'll need a wolf. We'll have to use it to get into the holding cell area. That's where your Alpha is." I explained. The dark gray wolf bristled, then began to pace.
"I'll go." The black wolf growled as he stepped forward.
"Perfect." I said dryly.
"Now, all the rest of you need to is hide in the woods in case we need back up. I'm assuming you know where the Ring Of Death is..." I tell them trailing off.
"It's our territory of course we know where it is." The dark gray wolf snarled. I held my hands up in surrender, then started to back away from the large wolves.
"Well, as long as everybody knows the plan...We're done here." I tell them glancing around at the wolves cautiously. They bowed their head once; nodding.
"Okay, then. C'mon Blackie." I call to the black wolf that volunteered. It growled, then slowly started to shift into its human form. My jaw went slack when I saw his skin color.
"Uh, I...didn't mean it like that...I was just saying...your fur color...black..." I stammered awkwardly. The dark skinned male raised an eyebrow, before he jogged to the cabin. A few minutes later he came out completely dressed. The white shifted into its human form, which was the form of a light skinned girl. The two embarrassed then shared a passionate kiss. After a moment, the dude looked at me then jogged ahead. I quickly caught up to him.
"I'm Andre, by the way. So, what makes you want to save Vic?" Andre questioned. I side glanced him, then sighed.
"I'm only doing this so that Jade will forgive me...I'm kind of in the dog house with her." I answer, chuckling to myself at the dog pun. Andre grunted.
"What's so special about that girl, that has both you and Vic kneeling at feet?" He asked. I bit my bottom lip, harshly.
"This will sound weird to you, but she's a descendent of Elizabeth. She's the only link I have to her." I say softly. Andre grumbled.
"That's the vampire that killed Kyran, isn't it?" He demanded through gritted teeth.
"She hadn't meant to harm him, she was protecting herself. He attacked first." I defended my deceased mate. Andre growled.
"You guys were hunting on our land! You've known for centuries not to, but you did it anyway! It's not Vic's fault for your mate's fate." Andre grumbled. I snarled, grabbed him by the collar of his shirt, and yanked him in front of me.
"Quit talking before I drain every ounce of mutt blood from your body, dog." I growled out with malice dripping from my tone. Andre didn't even flinch, he just calmly got out of my grasp.
"Whatever, when we find Vic I just hope she kicks your ass for what you did to Jade." He sneered at me. My face contorted with confusion.
"The sex? That usually happens when vampires feed..." I told him, utter bewilderment clouding my mind.
"No you manipulated Jade, you knew Cat could easily and willingly heal her ankle with a spell. But no, you saw the opportunity and you took it. And by feeding her your blood she would immediately consent to it, because then she would have traces of you in her bloodstream...and that would make her attracted to you." Andre said, his predatory, yellow, gaze boring into my eyes. He let out a calming sigh, then his eyes turned back to brown.
"I may not use to get along with Vic; but back then it was just about power and good breeding, but she is the better choice for Jade. She can protect her in a way that you can't-"
"I highly doubt that."
"When this is all over Jade will choose Vic." Andre continued, as he ignored my interruption. I glared at the ground, choosing to end the conversation there.
Jade
I hesitantly walked up the pebble pathway that led to Cat and Annika's house. I hadn't spoken to Cat since yesterday morning. I softly knocked on the wooden front door. It opened to reveal the petite red head dressed to perfection in a old fashion corset dress. She stiffened once she saw me a look of utter confusion crossed her face.
"Jade, what're you-"
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap at you the way I did yesterday." I rush to tell her. Her brown, doe, eyes searched my face. After a few moments of silence she stepped aside and ushered me in.
"It's fine, you know. The whole temper thing. It happens when you drink the blood of a vampire. All of their emotions and senses are heightened. I don't blame you for anything, Jade. It's Beck's fault..." She explained as we sat in her living room. I shook my head and placed the steaming cup of coffee she made me on the end table near the couch.
"I don't blame him. I mean, I'm still kinda mad that he manipulated me. But you do crazy things when you're in love." I said softly, a light blush warmed my cheeks. Cat's face filled with bewilderment.
"Strange," She said looking at me directly in the eye.
"The vampire blood and it's effects should have warn off by now..." Cat said tilting her head to the side as she examined me. I roughly shook my head.
"No! Don't you get it?! I love him, and not because of his goddamn vampire blood!" I exclaimed springing up from my seat and glaring at her. Cat jumped and let out a quiet gasp; startled from my sudden outburst. I sighed and pushed a hand through my brown locks.
"Look, I just came over to see if you'd want to help us get Vic back." I said in a calmer tone. Cat nodded. "Okay, what do I have to do?" She asked.
I fidgeted slightly as Beck, Andre(in his wolf form) and I approached the large, grimy looking ware house. Angry growls and whines of the victims could be heard from inside. I prayed that Vic was okay. We got past the vampire at the door by purchasing our tickets or whatever. Beck told me to go sit in the crowd and blend in, as he broke off away from me and began walking Andre to somewhere off towards the back. Andre was pretending to be difficult, he kept snapping his jaws and snarling at Beck as they went. Although, I don't think that, that was fake hate I saw in his eyes. I took my seat as a fight was taking place. A small husky puppy was yipping repeatedly at a full grown tiger. The tiger merely bared it's teeth then swatted at the small puppy; sending it crashing against the hard wall of the pit. The now motionless puppy slowly regresses into the form of a little blonde girl. I gasped in horror.
"Jesus..." I mumbled under my breath. She was just a kid...
Victoria
I watched with sad eyes as they dragged Zoey's lifeless body back through the steel doors at the other end of Holding Cell Hall. The little husky pup never stood a chance against her more experienced opponent; A large fully grown tiger that was bred to kill. Danny let out a small whimper beside me, I lifted my head back to let out a mournful howl. I failed, I was supposed to protect her and make sure she survived...but I failed...
"Keep quiet in there!" The demon dragging Zoey snapped at us as he walked by. Danny whimpered and shrank into my side, nuzzling his large head in my fur. I huffed and leaned into his embrace. Don't take this the wrong way, Danny's only fifteen. Even if he was older, I wouldn't make a move on him. I've only got feelings for Jade. Besides, Danny reminds me of Kyran. He's not even a Beta yet, he has no knowledge of the pack life. The other door opened and my ears pricked as the sound of a familiar voice floated throughout Holding Cell Hall.
"Found this one just running loose." Beck's dark voice echoed.
"He's a beauty. Too bad his fur'll get rip out in a fight." Another unfamiliar voice with a Australian accent responded.
"C'mon, Alpha, it's your turn." The demon from before said; alerting me of his presence in front of my cell. I huffed then shook Danny off of me. He whimpered as I left the cell.
'Stay safe.'He pleaded.
'I'll try...' I responded. My eyes flickered to the new arrival as the demon and I headed toward the pit, who I saw made my paws dig into the hard, dirty, concrete, floor. In a cell, right next to the entrance to the pit, was Andre. Laying down with his head on his paws.
'Andre?! What're you doing here?' I demanded. His head immediately shot up, and he looked at me; his yellow eyes shinning with excitement.
'Vic! You're alive!' He barked, jumping to his feet. I shook my fur out; boredly.
'What're you doing here, Andre?' I growled. He faltered only slightly.
'We're here to save you...' He let out in a small whimper.
'We?' I demanded. I knew who all was here, I could smell them when they walked in. But I wanted him to say it. The large black wolf looked down at his paws; like a puppy who's been reprimanded by his master. It was almost comical to see someone of his rank and size to look so small. But I was in no mood for joking.
'Beck, Cat, Jade, and I. But we have a pla-'
'YOU PUT MY BOND IN DANGER?!' I snarled ferociously, and tried to leap at him but two obstacles remained in my way; his cell and the chain/leash that the demon hand on me.
"C'mon, Alpha, you can do your fighting out in the pit against your newest opponent." The demon spat at me. I shot Andre one last glare before I walked out into the pit. It only took a second to get used to the blinding light in the small arena. My eyes immediately searched the crowd for Jade, I spotted her in less than a second. She looked mildly bored, but then her eyes met mine and her expression was changed to utterly terrified. I knew I didn't look my best; I had permanent scars all along my writhes, back, and loin. Bits and pieces of fur were missing, and I'm pretty sure my eyes had lost their usual shine. I was picked to fight a lot; mostly because I'm the strongest shifter here. But being the strongest doesn't mean you'll be unscathed. I brought my gaze away from Jade, to my entering opponent. A Komodo Dragon;as large as my wolf size, steps through the opposite doors. It's tongue tasting the air to find my body heat. I don't even have time to react before it comes at me, as fast as it's stubby legs can go. Sharp teeth dig into my hind legs, and I'm knocked onto my back. Long, sharp, claws rake against my pelt. I let out a chorus of yelps and whimpers. I try to use my hind legs to kick the offending little shit off of me, but my claws can't get through the scale-y armor. I growl in frustration, then lean up, and snap at it with my teeth. It doesn't even flinch, I huff in annoyance. I, then decide that maybe it's my time of dying, and lay back on the sandy floor accepting death. I close my eyes and flinch when I felt its sharp teeth tear into my underbelly. I hope he chokes on my fur. My ears prick as I hear a loud thud on the other side of the arena. Jade's scent floats into my nostrils, and my snap open to see her standing on the other side of the pit. The Komodo Dragon's attention is brought to the brunette in the far off corner, who's flailing her arms.
"Hey, giant lizard thing over here!" Jade yelled. The Komodo Dragon hissed and charged at her.
Jade
I was terrified. I knew was probably going to die, but I would rather that happen than having to sit there and watch as Vic got torn apart. Now the cold-blooded monster was heading in my direction. I jumped when a large, brown, fur ball jumped in front of me. I peered around the huge furry mass; that I knew was Vic, at the halted Komodo. It looked befuddled at the snarling wolf in front of it. It took a step closer, and Vic stiffened even more than she already was. Her vicious growl made the Komodo freeze. I looked at the bleeding wound in Vic's side with worry. Vic tackled the Komodo before anyone had time to react. Her jaws locked onto it's neck, she pulled an Alligator move and death rolled until a sickening crack; that sealed the Komodo Dragon's fate, echoed through the already loud arena. The Komodo Dragon's lifeless body fell limply from Vic's jaws and onto the sandy ground. Vic snorted at the giant dead lizard, then her eyes fell upon me. For a moment she looked ready to attack; her eyes fierce and her muzzle set in a snarl. She was front of me in an instant, towering over me. A growl rumbled in her throat, her long teeth bared. She lowered her head so that our eyes met. She immediately softened, and that fierce fire in her eyes vanished. Slowly her huge wolffish figure reformed into her human form, and she stood in front of me. Her brown eyes wide and fearful. Shakily, I brought my hand up to caress her warm cheek. She melted into my touch and collapsed into my body. I immediately wrapped my arms around her torso and held her flush against me as her violent sobs raked through her body.
"Jade...I...I'm...so sorry." Came her muffled apology. I shook my head, then buried my face into her long, unkempt hair. My nose wrinkled from the stench, but I made no move.
"I thought I'd never see you again." I whispered into her hair. She whimpered and held me tighter. After a few moments of just holding each other, I realized that everything was now quiet. There was no cheering, no voices, everyone was completely silent. I looked up to find everyone staring at us; with either scowls or bemused expressions on the their faces. Loud noises, from where I'm guessing they kept the animals, echoing throughout the warehouse told me that Cat was doing her job.
"We have to go." I whisper so quietly, I'm not even sure Vic heard me.
"Not without, Danny and Andre." She whispers back, and before I even get a chance to ask her who the hell Danny is, she springs to her feet and races off toward the where the animals are. I follow immediately after her. It was chaos in there, naked people were scrambling around and trying to find each other. My eyes searched for Cat; who was by a lever thing.
"Cat! I told you to get Andre and Vic out, not the whole damn zoo!" I yelled over all the screaming people.
"I couldn't just leave the rest of them here!" Cat yelled back. I rolled my eyes and sighed.
"Whatever! Look, let's just get Vic, and Andre and leave..." I trailed off as I spotted coming toward us with a naked teenaged boy; that looked a couple years younger than me, all cuddled into her equally naked side. With his grubby, little, hands resting just under her breasts. My temper flared, and I'm glad I'm not a werewolf because I would have transformed the fuck up and kicked his ass.
"Who the fuck is he?" I demanded, not bothering to keep the venom out of my tone, as Vic and the boy with the offending hands came up to us. Vic glanced at me, with some confusion written on her face.
"This is Danny...my bond." She answered hesitantly. The scared boy looked at me; examining me. I turned my glare from him to Vic.
"I'M your bond." I reminded her as if she'd forgotten. Vic nodded.
"Sometimes, it's very rare, you can have more than one bond." Vic said nonchalantly and shrugged. She fucking shrugged! The nerve of this girl! I opened my mouth to unleash all kinds of wrath on the both of them, but Beck suddenly appeared by my side.
"We've got to go, now!" He warned. We all nodded and started to run to the back exit.
"I've got your flank!" I heard Andre bark to Vic as he ran beside her.
It was dark by the time we finally crossed over into Ojibwa territory, my chest was heaving heavily and I was panting; clearly out of breath. Danny had changed into his wolf form awhile back, and he now was sniffing everything. Andre, and Danny began to head back to the cabin, Vic made a move to follow them but I caught her wrist. She looked at me quizzically. I sighed, looked back at Beck, then looked back at Vic.
"I...know, you know about me and Beck," I pause nodding my head in Beck's direction.
"And...I'm sorry...I wanted to be the one to tell you but..." I trailed off and swallowed; trying to gather my thoughts.
"What're you saying, Jade?" She whispered. I looked up and was met with watery brown eyes. I swallowed again.
"Vic...I love you." I whisper gently to her, and her eyes light up ever so slightly the corners of her mouth tug upward into a small smile.
"But I love him more..." I told her, a tear rolling slowly down my cheek. Her smile disappeared, almost as quick as it came.
"Jade..." She whimpered brokenly. My heart broke into a million pieces, this was the worse feeling ever.
"You heard her mutt, she made her choice!" Beck said harshly from beside me. Vic slowly tore her broken gaze away from me, and glared at Beck.
"So, what? Now you're gonna rub it in, leech?!" She growled out. Beck hissed then violently shoved her into the nearest tree. The large tree broke and then fell on top of her. Andre and Danny were I'm front of Beck in less than a minute; snarling away. Breaking bone, and a few muffled screams came from where Vic had landed. A few minutes later, a large dark brown wolf bursted through the fallen wood. She snarled and leapt to in front of Danny and Andre; growling something fierce at Beck. I shook my head and ran in the middle of all of them before they could attack.
"Stop it! Killing each other won't solve anything!" I yelled at them. I glared at Beck then shifted my glare to the wolves. Vic let out an exasperated huff, then visibly relaxed. Slow clapping sounded from somewhere off to the side, everyone's head snapped in the direction of the noise.
"I've never, in all my years on this earth, seen anything quite like that. You managed to calm a fully enraged werewolf down. You have got to teach me your trick, Jadelyn!" A woman with long black hair, that looked as if she where in her twenties, called excitedly from where she stood. What dazed me is that she looked almost exactly like me. Except for her black hair, and she was a little more curvy than I was. Vic bristled and low growl rumbled like thunder in her throat, and Beck stood paralyzed as if he'd seen a ghost. My face took on a confused expression.
"I know you?" I asked. The woman cocked her head to the side.
"Come, now, Jadelyn. Is that anyway to treat your great, great, great, grandmother?" She scolded with a smirk on her face. She took a few steps closer, Vic growled threateningly and scooted up so that she right beside me. The woman merely rolled her eyes at Vic.
"You should properly train your pets, Jadelyn." The woman deadpanned.
"Who are you?" I ask curiously.
"Elizabeth Jadelyn West." She answered a smirk firmly planted on her face. So, she's the one my dad named me after...
"But, if you're my grandmother how are still..." I trailed off.
"You clearly didn't get the smart side of the gene pool, did you kid?" She remarked. I glared at her.
"If you're wondering how I'm still alive you can thank that handsome fella next to you." Elizabeth said, nodding toward Beck. My gaze flickered over to Beck; who was still paralyzed then back to Elizabeth.
"But if you're family, why'd you kill my dad?" I demanded.
"Oh, I didn't just kill your dad, sweetie. I killed a bunch of hikers too." She answered.
"But why?" I demanded.
"So, I can walk in the sunlight of course! And speaking of killing..." She trailed off, and pulled a gun out a holster that was attached to her hip.
"I believe you have a little date with death." Elizabeth said then aimed the gun at me. Just as the loud BANG! Of the gun rang out, Vic jumped in front of me. She took the bullet to the shoulder. She yelped and limped a little from the wound but stood her ground. Danny whined, his tail stuck between his legs. Elizabeth let out a frustrated groan.
"You damn wolves, are always getting in the way of things!" Elizabeth growled.
"I won't let you hurt Jade." Vic whimpered. Elizabeth rolled her eyes and cocked the gun again, but this time aimed it at Vic.
"So be it." Elizabeth growled.
"E-Elizabeth..." Beck stuttered out. Elizabeth took her gaze off of Vic and brought it to Beck. Her eyes softened, and a bright genuine smile light up her face.
"Beckett!" She cheered happily then raced over to him with vampire speed. They embraced each other like lovers who've been kept apart for far too long. It was in that moment that everything clicked. SHE was Elizabeth...Beck's dead mate...
"I thought you were dead!" Beck cried as he hugged her tight against his body.
"I made the witches cast a healing spell on me." Elizabeth answered as her head found a nice resting spot on his chest.
"Never leave me." Beck sobbed into her hair.
"I promise." Elizabeth said. With that they raced off into the night together, without giving me a second thought. Vic whimpered as she sensed my sadness and came up beside me. I leaned my head against her furry shoulder, then cried into it. Love sucks...
So, uhm, sequel?
