Spiritron, quantum particles that form the substance of the soul.
Previously, the question of whether the soul exists or not was largely scoffed at by scientists, but remains largely inconclusive.
It was until [REDACTED] Kihara started an experiment involving the soul of human and animal on [REDACTED] of [REDACTED].
… [REDACTED] ...
The experiment was deemed a success.
… [REDACTED] …
[REDACTED] Kihara hypothesized that it was possible to achieve digital immortality by harnessing Spiritron, but it's inconclusive until further testing.
Atlas Institute
[District 7] - [July 13]
Before Misaki was able to ask any of her questions, Aogami "teleported" away. Unable to find him again, she searched through Academy Database -via illegal mean, of course- for details on his power. This lead to Spiritron, which lead to more nonsense.
She had accepted the existence of magician, extremely skeptical over the existence of "ghosts", but quantum partial that make up the "soul"?
This may be Academy City, but this was more science fiction and pseudoscience than anything else. Our technology is 30 years ahead of the world, but researching into the realm of "voodoo" seems incredibly farfetched. Furthermore, who is this Atlas Institute?
She had read the minds of the majority of the important scientists and researchers within Academy City. And as she remembered, none of their memories had anything on this name.
Perhaps it was a made up name, considering this whole research paper is more like an April fool joke than something legit. Sure, digital immortality was very plausible, but that is usually hypothesized with the unloading the consciousness instead of the "soul".
Shutting her laptop, she massaged her shoulder as she let out a yawn. For now, she will put Aogami Pierce under the "mysterious people who know way too much" category. With him included, there now two people on that list. Coincidentally, that old hag was also from the same high school. Could there be a connection between the two? Unlikely.
Looking outside, she noticed the orange filled sky. It was pretty late already, she should head back to the dorm.
…
Misaki approached the front of the Tokiwadai dorm gate, and at first sight, she was greeted by a few of her numerous followers.
"Greetings, my Queen," a girl with long platinum blonde hair with ringlet curls greeted her with a polite bow.
…...
[Junko Hozake] [Age: 15]
[Birthday: Unknown]
[Level 4: Rampage Dress]
[Status: Single] [Occupation: Tokiwadai Student]
[Affiliation: Misaki's gang]
[Type: Drill hair ojou-sama]
[Note: Like that frog mascot thing]
…...
'What was that?' She suddenly halted her footsteps.
There was a faint holographic blue screen in front of her…
She blinked. Upon opening her eyes, the blue screen disappeared.
"My Queen, are you alright?" Junko asked as she approached her. The expression on her face was that of genuine concern.
"There is no need to worry, I'm just a little tired," she said, letting out her usual smile.
'Am I hallucinating?' she asked herself but dismissed as nothing before picking up her steps.
Upon entering the dorm, she was immediately greeted by a stern long-haired woman wearing glasses.
The Tokiwadai Dorm Supervisor, the single figure that every Tokiwadai student forcefully lowered their head to. But unlike the rest, she knew her secret. It was a heartwarming secret, one that shows her true-ish nature underneath the cold mask she constantly wore in front of them.
"Good afternoon," Misaki greeted with a polite smile.
"Good afternoon," the supervisor replied, paying her little attention as she adjusting her glasses.
A brief interaction, but by no means meaningless. Her status and respect among her followers would raise as a result. After all, not many students could greet the supervisor so casually. Her faction dominated Tokiwadai, but it won't hurt to fully control it.
Before she headed to her room, she heard a familiar, if not loud and irritating voice.
"What did you say!?" Mikoto Misaka exclaimed. This gathered the attention of the surrounding students and the supervisor. Upon noticing this, Misaka with an apologetic smile grabbed Kuroko by her sleeve and dragged goes off to somewhere less crowded.
Misaki wasn't one to eavesdrop on Mikoto Misaka of all people, especially when she can't even tolerate her presence if they were in the same room, but she couldn't help it but wonder what she is up to. As such, she took control of one of her followers, one with Audiokenedis, and eavesdropped on them.
…...
"Well, I wanted to bring it up but I also didn't want Saten to charge into a prison and demand an autograph from a criminal," Kuroko said, her heart was beating incredibly fast.
"Are you sure about that? He could have been a teleporter. He did disappear from the cell, after all," Misaka said, grabbing both of Kuroko shoulders.
"I'm positive, onee-sama. Besides, if he was a teleporter. Why didn't he teleported away instead of running away on foot? Furthermore, I didn't notice any sign of him manipulating the 11th dimension to forcefully pull me out mid-teleportation -not that any teleporter could have done that in the first place," Kuroko replied, inching forward for more skin-ship, but was pushed back. "For his disappearance…"
Kuroko pondered, trying to remember the information earlier. "That right, BLAU. No one really knows his real name, but the majority of the male Anti-Skill officer refer him as BLAU. He is a teleporter but only used his power while in prison -perhaps to mock Anti-Skill capabilities. He is extremely mysterious, none of the officers who had arrested him could clearly remember his appearance and all digital imaging of his turn out extremely blurry; to the point that Academy City's technology fails to identify it. It just happened that he was in the adjacent cell of that mopey black haired guy and was acquainted with him."
Kuroko pulled out her phone and accessed a recording of the prison's camera and show a video of a blurry blue figure talking to a mopey black hair individual. The camera suddenly fizzles out in a screen of static and a few minutes later, they both disappeared.
Misaka stood there in silence, muttering "that idiot" under her breath.
Kuroko had heard it, and asked Misaka while pointing at the black-haired individual, "Do you know this criminal onee-sama?"
Kuroko was suspicious, but by no means pointing her finger at her beloved soulmate. It just that her "Onee-sama sense" was spiking to an insane level throughout this conversation. An insane thought just ran across his mind, and it itches her to the core.
"Of course not, why would I," Misaka said with a strained smile as she placed her hand behind her back.
"If you say so," Kuroko said, unconvinced. It was obvious to her that her onee-sama was lying, but she won't pursue further. It would be easier if she didn't catch on. Eliminating love rival was her job. Only she can be with her onee-sama. Thus, her machination began.
…
It seems Mikoto Misaka knew of her Prince. She had expected this, her Prince had terrible luck and nothing is more misfortunate than encountering that trigger happy lightbulb.
At this moment, she considered freezing this room and threatening Misaka to back off from her Prince, but that would lead to unnecessary conflict -not that she couldn't deal with it.
Perhaps her times with her Prince had caused her to softened up a bit, just a tiny bit. But if she were to make a move on her Prince, that light zapper will feel all of her wrath, no mercy included.
She returned the control of her follower's body and walk toward her room. A refreshing shower would do her good, especially after a tiresome day under the sun.
[District 19] - [July 13]
Accelerator sat on top of a steel beam within an abandoned construction site. During the past few hours, he had come to the conclusion that "working out" was a waste of his time, among other things.
He took a sip of his now lukewarm coffee as he looked at the distant sunset. Minutes passed of him doing seemingly nothing. The sunset disappeared from the horizon as the sky slowly blanketed in darkness. Accelerator lets out a cool breath as he took another sip of his coffee.
…It was cold.
Footsteps shuffled through the gravel behind him. Well, it was shuffling for a while now, but he chooses to ignore it.
From the shadow of the surrounding buildings, a girl with goggles on top of her head and dressed in a Tokiwadai uniform emerged. Her look was eerily similar to the Railgun, almost an exact copy of her.
"Greeting Accelerator, says Misaka 10032 as she approached from behind."
"10032 huh… Shouldn't it be 9982 or something?"
"No, your destruction of the facility killed 49 of the sisters and various other researchers, says Misaka as she answered your question."
"Oh…" He chugged the whole can of coffee down his throat before crushing it into a ball and throwing it onto the ground. With his vector manipulation, the projectile accelerated at a sound breaking speed and dug a hole into the dirt and causing an explosion of gravel and dirt as it did.
It may be black coffee, but it was much more bitter.
"Misaka is here to says that the Level 6 Shift Project is resuming. With further calculations from Tree Diagram, and Gensei Kihara's words. It's determined that your defeat at the hands of a Level 0 was an extreme outlier, thus unimportant to the project as a whole, says Misaka as she explained."
Accelerator sat in silence as he snapped open another can of coffee. He had expected this...
"Why don't you just fucking leave already? I have already killed ten thousand of you fucker! What difference would a few thousand more makes!?" He bellowed.
"Tree Diagram-"
"Fuck Tree Diagram! I don't give a shit about that shitty supercomputer!" Accelerator exclaimed as he stood up, dropped his coffee to the ground and stared at the familiar lifeless clone.
"Rude, complained Misaka in response to being interrupted."
Accelerator ignored her comment and stomped on the steel beam he was sitting on. It lifted itself into the air and stood on its end. The beam tower over Accelerator, but with a knock of knuckle…
*BOOM!*
… It was send flying. A storm of gravel pelted Misaka 10032, but she was unconcern about it as she looked into the darkening sky with her goggles.
A mere moment later, a bright if not brief spark of flickered in the dark sky. No, it wasn't the satellite, Orihime 1 that contained Tree Diagram exploding, but the steel beam tumbling back to earth after Orihime 1's defense system shoot it down with the aid of the world most powerful supercomputer's unrivaled calculating prowess.
In all likely hood, it had already calculated the projecture of the steel beam projectile to the point of guaranteeing that no one would be harm due to its impact.
Accelerator looked at his hand with heavy eyes before running it through his hair.
"Ahh ha ha," he laughed hysterically. Who he was laughing at was a mystery. Himself? The world? Or perhaps everything in between?
"Maybe I should launch a skyscraper next," he said before sharply tilting his next at Misaka 10032.
"You know, at heart, I'm a pacifist, but due to circumstances. I often pass my fist through my problem instead. A real mess, for the street I mean."
"You know, I try, I really did, but the emotionless dolls weren't scared by the big bad Accelerator. They kept running headfirst into him, now, guess where they all are?"
"You know, a few hours can change a person more than years worth of shittiness ever could."
"But I'm a monster and nothing I do or will do can ever change that fact. So why don't we play our part? I'll be the villain, and you'll be the sacrificial lamb ready to be slaughtered. We're all puppets in the end, anyway..."
Accelerator kicked the pile of pebbles in front of him and accelerated them into bullets.
Left in an open field, Misaka 10032 was left with a massive disadvantage, but the Misaka Network and her pre-programmed military prowess manage to find a safe opening within the approaching barrage of projectiles.
Narrowly escaping certain death, Misaka 10032 used a new tactic that the Misaka Network had formulated. After the wind had calmed down from Accelerator's "rocket" launch, Misaka 10032 slowly began to work on the air around Accelerator, hoping to suffocate him. Conventional weapons and their ability were ineffective against Accelerator. This tactic was slow, and theoretically too slow against Accelerator, but it was a good starting alternative to dealing with his automatic reflection.
This plan was immediately broken as Accelerator moved from the ozone turned air…
"Nice try. The air here is filled with the stench of coffee, anything other than that is a dead giveaway," he said as he reached a smaller steel beam. "And I'm giving away exactly that. Death."
*CREEK!"
The steel beam slid off the stack of steel beam and accelerated forward. It wasn't sound breaking, but it was still too fast for Misaka 10032 to dodge. She accepted her fate like many other Misaka before her and closed her eyes. In the end, they were only tools, made for the sole purpose of dying at his hand, but that was fine...
"GUTS!" A loud voice roared in from of her. Misaka 10032 instantly snapped her eyes open and faced with a multicolored explosion of red, blue and yellow smoke.
Through the lens of her goggles, she identifies a figure with a white cloak and headband. Single-handedly, he caught the steel beam and tossed it away as if it was made out of styrofoam.
"The real hero of guts had some guts to suddenly disappear. BUT I, SOGIITA GUNHA WILL SHOW YOU SOME REAL GUTS IN HIS PLACE!"
AN: Been busy lately. I was going to write about Misaki confronting Misaka, but that would lead to unnecessary drama, which I hate.
Explaination for why the experiment is continuing: Tree Diagram had been watching Academy City for years now, and noticed the pattern of Touma's Imagine Breaker, thus isolated him from the norm.
Explaination for why Accelerator doesn't just leave the experiment: His life would be hell afterward. The Level 6 Shift Project is funded by alot of people, and they want result. Quiting halfway isn't an option. They woulds send the Sisters at Accelerator regardless of his imput. Breaking into his home and stuff. And worst, band all shipment of coffee to Academy City until he complied. Afterall, he's the ideal labrat.
Will Misaka 10032 be killed?
To be Continued...
