Woo! Two updates in a week! And I doubt I'm going to be able update until Monday, but at least I'm getting this story rolling! So enojy you guys!
"Are we almost there?" Val asked seeming to be a bit excited of the mystery of their destination.
"We're almost there, but…" Jack stopped and hovered as Val took note and did the same. Jack turned around looking serious, "I need you to close your eyes."
"How am I going to do that when I'm going to be flying?" Val said skeptically bringing her hand to her hips.
"Just… do you trust me?" Jack said pleadingly.
"What?" Val dropped her arms taken aback by the question.
"I mean, I really want this to be a surprise and the only way for that to happen is if you close your eyes until we get there. So, do you trust me?" Jack said leaning in a little.
Val thoughts were running at high speed, debating the answer to his question until she looked at his eyes and saw he meant her no harm. Just fun. Val took a deep breath and nodded, "O-okay, but how am I going to fly with my eyes closed?"
"I already thought of that." Jack said with a smirk turning his back to her, "Climb on my back."
"What?!" Val's face turned into a crimson red, but she was thankful Jack was turning away.
"Climb on my back! I'm not gonna bite, besides, I don't think that's possible from this angle." Jack chuckled.
"O-…Okayyy." Val said bringing her hands to his shoulders.
"Come on," Jack said grabbing her legs, "Now wrap your arms around me, so I don't drop you."
Val did so, completely awkward in this situation. Everything seemed new to her.
"Okay now I need you to close your eyes."
"Okay they're closed."
"Good, now let's go!"
They flew at high speed and Val was completely unsure of where they were at. The only thing she was able to pick up on was that it was getting colder, nothing else. Of course Jack would take her somewhere cold; maybe it was HIS place of solace.
"Okay we're here." Jack said breaking her chain of thought. "But let me get you down on the ground first. Keep your eyes closed."
He landed softly and they let her climb off. "Okayyyy. Open your eyes!"
Val did as she was told but nothing she ever guessed would ever compare to what she saw. Ice caves with lights all around her; it looked like a completely different world!
"Jack, this place looks beautiful! Where are we?" She asked looking in awe at her surroundings.
"We're at one of the many ice castles." Jack answered smiling at her amazement.
"Ice castles?"
"Yeah they build them ever year in three locations that I know of. We're in the one located in New Hampshire."
"These were built? But they look so… natural!"
"Weeell, I don't wanna brag, but I do help out every once in a while." Jack smugly replied.
Val rolled her eyes, "Wow, Jack, you are such the charity man."
"What can I say?" Jack shrugged.
"So these are like ice caves." Val said walking though an icy archway.
"Yup, go on and explore if you want. It's really cool!"
"I might have to take you up on that offer, Jack." She said as she walked further into the icy structure.
Val kept walking admiring the crystal beauty of the caves, when suddenly she noticed something dark moving in the snow ahead of her. Curious she went closer and froze when she realized what it was. She blinked and suddenly she was in the one place she didn't want to be in. Black sand greeted her all around.
"Not again!" she gasped.
"I do hope you appreciate my visits." Pitch appeared before her a few feet ahead.
"Why do you keep bringing me here?!"
"I brought you here to keep you safe."
"From what? The only thing I know that's dangerous here is you!" Val fists balled with anger.
"Truly you don't believe that, do you? I know you're dangerous to yourself as well. All those memories inside you, breaking you apart. Don't you see history is repeating for you?"
"What do you mean?" Val said taken aback loosening her fists.
"I'm only going to tell you one word: Frost."
Suddenly she was back at the ice castles staring at the ground. 'Did that really happen?' she asked herself. 'And what did he mean by "Frost"? Is he talking about Jack?' Questions filled her mind until she crumbled on her knees to the ground, scared of what was to come.
"Val?"
Val's chain of thought was broken by Jack who stood a couple of feet behind her.
"Huh?"
"Are you okay?" Jack asked as he crouched down next to her checking if everything was okay.
"Yeah, I'm fine. It's just-…. I guess I'm just stressed for Valentine's Day is all. Sorry for ruining this for you, I know we were supposed to relax and all-"
Jack raised a hand to stop her, "Save it. You don't have to apologize. We had fun together right?"
"Yeah, I guess we did." She said with laugh.
"Come on, let's go finish the rest of that work, huh?" Jack suggested as he extended his arm to help her up.
Val gladly took it and was easily hoisted up. As they stood there it took them a moment to realize they were still holding hands. Val quickly retracted her hand while Jack coughed to regain his composure.
"We should- we should really get going." Val suggested while walking out.
"Yeah…" Jack said admiring her with a slight blush. After a second, Jack followed her outside. Val stood there making sure Jack got out before they took off to North's workshop. All the while Val, realizing what Pitch had meant, was trying to find ways to not make it happen again. A tear slid off her face as she realized what was really repeating as Pitch had said. She was glad the wind was hitting her face making easier for the tear to slide off and erase its existence. Yet she knew it wouldn't just affect her this time, she took in a breath as she suppressed her fear and continued flying.
Meanwhile Jack was flying near her noticing her change in mood, but he couldn't figure it out because she was flying ahead of him. As North's Workshop came into view he hoped Tooth would help him out, but with more than one thing.
So please review since I think I need a couple tips and it's kind of funny because there's this one person repeating the same review. It's fine and I still appreciate the support. Thank you everyone!
