A/N: Hey guys...(hides behind her chair because she knows its her freaking fault)...so sorry for the delay. I really hope you continue to read the story. So..someone suggested me to write more fluff and involve Scott (he is Stiles' best friend) so I'll try doing that more often.
Go ahead and read. Pls. do review. Even if its to say 'hi...' :) And yeah...there are a few curse words in this chapter.
DISCLAIMER: I've never even owned this in my dreams. I'm not awesome. That's all Jeff Davis.
And OMG...Season 5...Cant wait anymore! Looking forward to learn about Parrish and more of Liam and Stiles...but Derek, not being a main character anymore...that is so...but it won't stop sterek fans, I'm 100% sure. ;)
CHAPTER: 12
Stiles locked the bathroom door behind him and turned around, as quickly as his weakened state would allow and gripped the door knob tightly in his palm, trying to hold back his tears. Derek was hiding something! That was the first thing his mind registered when he woke up and that had to mean something. Also the fact that he felt Derek's heart quicken beneath his fingers gave him all the more reason to believe that something was definitely up.
Fuck! Did he find out?! The question kept repeating itself inside his head, the thought that maybe he was simply paranoid never crossing his mind. He unintentionally let out a panicked whimper and quickly staggered forward to turn on the tap in an attempt to muffle his groans. The loud sound of water splashing on the sink should have helped. Well, at least he hoped it did.
He violently splashed water on his face, bracing himself on the wall. What was he going to do now? Should he run away?
"What...?" His brow furrowed and he cursed himself. What the fuck is wrong with you? His mind yelled back at him. Seriously, he needed to stop assuming things. With a determined look on his face, he shook his head and scrunched his eyes shut, trying to jerk those thoughts away and focus more on the intensifying panic. He was sure he had no more energy left in his body to go through a full-fledged panic attack. Not now. Not when there was the whole full moon issue still hovering over him like a dark cloud.
His heart rate increased another notch. Maybe he should not have thought about that too; the full moon, which was today, out of all days, adding more frightening thoughts to his already muddled up brain. But the last full moon hadn't been bad. Also...he wasn't exactly in pain right now ...just a little- okay, a lot- exhausted but not in pain! Yeah, he tried to focus on that little ray of hope for a while.
He inhaled shakily to calm himself down, simultaneously feeling the baby flutter inside him. Deaton had warned him about how his distress could make the baby (and eventually his mate) restless and he placed a quick hand over his stomach, feeling the baby's movement under his fingers.
"Easy...buddy. It's okay. Daddy's okay. Nothing to worry about. " He muttered, closing his eyes and huffing out a hot breath of air. A smile appeared on his face when the baby actually responded, prompting him to keep stroking his stomach in slow, circular motions. Finally, the baby's movements came to a halt and he breathed a sigh of relief.
He quickly brushed his teeth and cleaned his face with a towel, unlocking the door and stepping out just as the main door creaked open and Derek walked back in.
Lying to Stiles had not been hard. He was already a little distracted, the delicious looking pancakes sitting in the were-wolf's plate a concrete proof of that as he flipped a few more on the pan like a pro. Stiles loved cooking and that was a well-known fact; Derek just misused that little piece of knowledge. At least, he thought he did.
"There's a pack meeting in a few hours." He said, staring at the back of Stiles' head and narrowing his eyes. Stiles seemed to have tensed a little at the statement and Derek couldn't stop himself from letting the next words out of his mouth.
"Hey, if you don't want me to go..." He added, brows furrowed in concern. "I could.."
"No...no, Derek. You should go." Stiles emphasized and walked towards the table, placing his own plate right across Derek's. The were-wolf noticed how Stiles paused in his way and looked at him as if struggling to voice his concern and worried his lower lip between his teeth. He opened his mouth and closed it a few times before nodding more determinedly, "Yeah! You have to go!"
The were-wolf's brow deepened and he almost immediately shook his head. "Stiles..." He leant forward and grabbed both of Stiles' hands in his own, pulling him around the table and on his lap. Stiles let out a surprised 'oh..' and settled closer, his legs lying sideways against Derek's thighs. He turned towards the were-wolf and smiled, "Clingy much!"
His smile fell the next instant under the intensity of Derek's interrogative glare and he breathed in deeply, shifting closer.
"Something is bothering you Stiles, I can tell." Derek whispered softly.
"Its not..." The human looked back into Derek's narrowed eyes and trailed off. Might as well tell Derek the truth. Lying would only make the were-wolf more suspicious. "It's just...today is the full moon Derek and I'm worried something might happen...something bad. I know I'm probably overreacting but, just for tonight, could you...could you come back early? I want you to be here with me, just in case..."
Stiles spoke quickly, shifting his glances between Derek and the floor. It was a little difficult to talk with the way his heart was quickening inside his chest and he was sure Derek was already picking up on it. A second later, he closed his eyes and shook his head, huffing out an annoyed breath, "You know what Derek, just...just forget I ever said that. Okay? Of course, you need to be with your betas to help them through the shift. I totally get it and I'm really sorry for..."
He tried to move away but Derek wrapped his arms around Stiles' waist tentatively, " No, Stiles. Its okay to think about yourself once in a while."
Derek would be lying if he said he wasn't freaking out too, but then too many full moons had gone by without incidents, why would today be any different? His heart was still struggling to accept that, though. But he needed to meet Deaton today. That was on top of his priority list. He inhaled deeply and closed his eyes, deciding to simply ignore the fear building up in his chest and the lump rising in his throat. Besides, Scott was already there and Derek trusted him with Stiles. He knew if there was anyone, beside him, who'd risk their life to save Stiles', it was Scott.
Wait...Why would Stiles need saving? His mind screamed at him, blood fizzling in his veins. And why the hell was he allowing his thoughts to take hold of him and make him question his decision of leaving Stiles alone? Damn it!
He hadn't realized Stiles was still waiting for him to continue. He snapped out of his thoughts when the human nudged him with his shoulder, still looking at him questioningly. "Look, I'll be gone for two hours. Just two hours. Is that okay?"
"Derek!" Stiles exclaimed, rolling his eyes. "Two hours, really?! Might as well don't go." He didn't let the were-wolf interrupt him and shifted around in his arms to face him, pointing accusingly at the were-wolf's chest with his finger, "That was not an option, okay? Just stay with them till they're...you know, not dangerous." He poked the were-wolf in the chest once more before continuing, "And don't you dare leave my best friend alone to deal with a bunch of rogue were-wolves...I'm warning you!"
"They've already found their anchors, Stiles. They're better at controlling themselves now." Stiles gave him a pointed look at that and he quickly added, "But...I won't leave them there. Atleast, not without letting them know."
"That's better!"
Derek smiled in response, slightly amused. He was the alpha here, it was funny how he allowed Stiles to order him around like that. Anyone else, he would've probably scowled and lost his cool in a matter of seconds. But, of course, Stiles wasn't just anybody! He smiled a little broader and nodded.
Stiles let out a sigh and sagged against his mate's arms, letting his own hands curl around Derek's. The were-wolf placed his chin over Stiles' shoulder and pulled him closer, sniffing his neck to inhale the comforting scent, the two of them slowly rocking back and forth. Comfortable silence surrounded them for a while as they enjoyed the proximity, closing their eyes and allowing themselves to fucking relax...
Derek inhaled deeply against Stiles' neck, making the human deflate as the tension slowly seeped out of his body. If only this could last forever, Stiles thought. And because this was his life and he was just so lucky, the baby decided to land a forceful kick on his stomach at the very same instant, making him jump in the were-wolf's arms, disrupting the moment.
Derek straightened immediately and Stiles gritted his teeth before letting out a chuckle. "Wow, Hale. Sometimes, I really find it hard to believe that you are, apparently, a freaking were-wolf. Relax, the baby just kicked. It was a hard one though, I have to give him that."
One of his hands was placed on his thigh, while the other one was wrapped around Derek's, curled around his abdomen, closer to the region where the baby had kicked. He slowly stroked the were-wolf's skin with his thumb, smiling through the...it wasn't exactly pain...just distress. Another kick on his stomach, though not as hard as before, made him groan slightly. Okay, so yeah...now he was in a little pain but it wasn't excruciating so that had to be a good sign. Right? Stiles looked up to meet Derek's gaze and his eyes softened, the pain completely forgotten.
It was not like Derek hadn't felt the baby move before, but he had had to use his were-wolf powers the first time to feel it. Now, on the other hand, the kick was strong enough to be detected by human hands. Though it was completely unexpected and frightening, it was undoubtedly the most beautiful thing Derek had ever experienced, if the expression on his face was anything to go by.
A realization struck him, "Him? You said 'him'." He asked urgently.
"Yeah..about that. I am not...really sure but it just feels like its going to be...a boy. We are going to have a son, Derek." His voice cracked and he relished into the kiss the were-wolf gently planted on his forehead. "Hopefully, he'll have your eyes and my mouth."
Derek widened his own eyes in mockery, "Your mouth? You mean, he'll never shut up and always begin and end a conversation?" He paused before chuckling to himself, "Now I can't even wait to meet him!" He breathed deeply and glanced at his watch- Stiles following suit. A look of disappointment crossed on Stiles' face and Derek tightened his hold.
"We still have a few hours to celebrate." He stated, pulling Stiles closer- who was now chuckling while shaking his head- for a deep, passionate kiss.
"Hey..." Kiss. "..you still haven't eaten.." Kiss. " Derek!"
The were-wolf pulled away, still breathing heavily, and glanced at the pancakes on his plate. "I'm not really hungry!"
Stiles laughed when Derek gently moved him so he could straddle the were-wolf's thighs. He curled his hand behind Derek's neck in response and pulled him closer, deepening the kiss. They hadn't done this for a while but Stiles wasn't complaining. He was just glad he could share this with his mate before...
When Derek slid his hands beneath his shirt, stroking his skin but being adorably careful with it, all thoughts left Stiles' head and he smiled, pulling back. "I'm not made of glass, you know. I can totally handle a little rough..."
Derek latched onto his neck before he could complete and he let out an unintentional moan of pleasure.
Yeah, okay, at this rate he wasn't sure for how long.
1 hour later:
"Block it out, Scott." Isaac warned, eyes fixed on his mobile phone, as he pushed in a few keys, texting Derek that they were here. He bit his finger nail in utmost concentration and waited to see if the were-wolf had actually read the message. He glanced sideways to look at Scott, who was still grinning to himself, and shook his head.
"Scott!"
"What?!" Said were-wolf turned towards the blonde with a huff. "C'mon, its not like you get the chance to hear your best friend having a hot make out session every day."
"You're actually invading their privacy." He spoke slowly, as if trying to explain to five year old, smiling at how Scott's expression suddenly morphed from curiosity to guilt in a few seconds. For an alpha, he could be so oblivious and childish sometimes.
"So...what did Derek say?" Isaac asked, trying to change the topic and distract himself- because Stiles was kind of loud and he really didn't want to hear anything. He placed his mobile phone back into his jeans pocket and frowned when Scott tensed a little bit.
"Not much. He just wanted me to come here and wait for him outside. He hung up on me before I could ask, seemed kind of in a hurry."
"What do you think is going on?" He asked, brows furrowing deeper. Scott looked too concerned for his liking.
"I don't know dude, but Derek did sound serious about it. Panicked, even. Can't be sure, but...it has to be Stiles, right? Only Stiles can make him that scared...and scary." He added the last bit with a shake of his head.
"Let's not jump to conclusions, alright? It's probably nothing."
"I hope so, man!" Scott said, throwing his head back into the head rest and breathing deeply. "I hope so!"
So...here you go people. I know I was gone for a very long time but I'm here now and I'll hopefully be able to update sooner. School's off for a few days. Don't you love when that happens?! Right after a month of non-stop tests?! I honestly love school but its really because of my friends that I even get through the day. Anyways...the next chapter will be up soon. Not a month. Hell no! Tell me if you liked the chapter. Tell me even if you don't...just not too harsh. And I'm actually waiting for an invitation from A03..if anyone can help me with that...just PM me...yeah? I'm kinda in the waiting queue..
