After the dust settled Kate went back inside the house and found Bobby at his desk in the living room.

"I have some rules." He closed the book he was looking at when Kate walked into the room. She went over and sat down on the sofa.

"Sure."

"Don't answer the group of phones in the Kitchen." Bobby pointed to the wall of phone labeled under different government names. Such as Police, FBI, Homeland Security and U.S. Marshalls.

"Ok." Kate said looking towards them. Bobby tossed her a cell phone.

"You can keep this one, it's clean. And the house phone is on the wall by the fridge if you need it."

"Thanks." Kate flipped open the phone and saw that there were three numbers that had been programed into the phone already; Bobby's, Sam's and Dean's.

"Rule two, don't answer the door if I'm not here. Three, don't touch anything if you don't know what it is. Four, if I tell you to do something you do it, no hesitating. You hesitate someone could die." Bobby continued on with a long list of rules that Kate needed to know and follow. "Any questions?"

"What's a devils trap?"

"If a demon is inside this symbol," Bobby opened a book and showed her a picture. "They can't leave it. It's like a cage."

"Oh." Kate said looking at it.

"It's a lot to take in all at once. But it will help you stay safe." Bobby said going over to her and sitting next to her on the sofa. Kate turned the pages of the book on her lap; looking at all the different symbols and pictures of different creators.

"Were do we start?" Kate asked closing the book.

"You sure about this Kate?" Bobby asked her again.

"Yes." Kate said with determination. She was going to do everything she could to help people who needed help against the supernatural.

"Alright, why don't you start by reading these books." Bobby went over to a pile of books next to the desk. "Start with the basics. Ghost, angry spirits, poltergeists. Things we deal with the most. There are also a few books on protection symbols and some on Latin."

"Latin?" Kate questioned.

"Yup, you will need to know it for research, spells, rituals and exorcisms."

"Wow, ok." Kate went over to the pile of books, picked up the top one and took it back over to the sofa. Bobby watched her with a smile on his face. He hated that this girl got pulled into this life. But he was proud of her for wanting to help make a difference and help people.

"Give me a shout if you need me." Bobby left Kate alone to start reading.

Over the next five days Kate read every book that Bobby gave her. And when she wasn't reading she was asking him questions about what she had read. Bobby would also quiz her on her Latin verbally.

"Why don't you take a break from all this reading." Bobby said when he found her on the back steps reading a book on shifter lore.

"Sure!" Kate closed her book and looked up at Bobby from her spot on the steps. "Did you want to go over my Latin?"

"No." Bobby gave her a smile at how dedicated she was. "Why don't we do some shooting?"

"You're going to teach me how to hunt?"

"No, no hunting. Just some shooting. You need to know how to protect yourself if I'm not around."

"Alright." Kate said.

"Ok, lets go." Bobby headed down the steps and went to the back of the salvage yard. Set up in the back were different targets. "Have you ever shot a gun before?" Bobby asked her as he set a handgun and a shot gun on the hood of and old ford pickup.

"No." Kate answered.

"Have you ever held a gun?"

"No."

"That's ok. I won't have to get you out of any bad habits you learned." Bobby picked up the handgun.

"This is a Ruger SR9, it's a semi-automatic pistol that used 9mm rounds." Bobby took the magazine out and handed Kate the gun. He showed her how to hold it in her hands, were the safety was, and how to take the magazine out. Once she was comfortable with holding it, Bobby took the gun back from her and put a full magazine back in. He showed her how to pull the hammer back and how to aim at the target. After firing a few rounds off Bobby handed the gun back to Kate.

"All right whenever you are ready. Make sure your feet are in the right position." Bobby said as Kate moved her left foot up leaving her right foot back. "Now lean forward a little. Good!"

Once Kate was positioned and comfortable she fired a round at the target.

"Not bad, again." Bobby said seeing she hit the last circle on the target.

Once again Kate fired and her shot was in the same area. After a few more shots there was a small cluster off to the side of the target.

"You have a nice cluster going. Why don't we work on your aim since you seem to be comfortable with shooting." Kate nodded her head letting Bobby continue. "When you shoot are you keeping both eyes open?"

"Yes." Kate said.

"Alright try closing one eye as you take aim, leaving your dominant eye open. When you are ready to shoot, open your eye." Kate did as he said. She closed her left eye as she aimed at the center of the target. Once she was lined up she opened her left eye and fired.

"Nice shot!" Bobby said seeing the hole about an inch away from the center of the target. "Keep going." Kate put four more round in the target making another good cluster of holes.

For the next hour Bobby taught Kate how to use the handgun and the shot gun. After they had dinner he taught her how to clean both of the guns. It was during that time the house phone started to ring. Bobby went to answer it and left Kate to keep working on cleaning the shotgun.

"The boys are on their way back. They are going to stop in a town a few hours away and take care of a salt and burn. They should be home in two days." Bobby said sitting back down at the table.

"Salt and burn?" Kate asked wondering what that term meant.

"It's how you take care of ghosts. Like how you took care of Andrews ghost. The salt purifies them and you burn the bones to get rid of it. That's why we call them a salt and burn. They are usually the easy jobs."

As Kate continued cleaning the gun, she let her mind wonder. She was excited to have them back, she missed having them around. And she was looking forward to seeing Dean. Kate also hoped that she would be able to sleep better knowing that they were back in the same house. Since they left Kate didn't sleep well at all. She would be lucky to get a few hours before waking up to dreams of her Uncles death and crazy other dreams. Even with the lack of sleep Kate was hiding it from Bobby by saying that she woke up early to read up on the supernatural. Or that she would say she was going to stay up and practice her Latin. As far as she knew Bobby had no idea she was getting very little sleep.
