Guest: Actually, I hadn't thought about how they got there yet, but thanks to your review I have great idea for that, though it won't come up until much later. Also, the "weird rumors" thing was in the manga (at least at mangafox) so I have no idea what that was about. And lastly... "Shikamaru reborn." what? The doggie was something I was waiting for to be able to add, because I love dogs, especially German shepherds.

Thanks for reviewing... "Guest"

Why is no one else reviewing?

"Did you see that too?" she asked in Japanese, pointing to the body and then to the sky.

Kuroba Kaito, someone who also frequented her little sister's computer's background and internet visits, nodded, gripping the strap of his messenger bag.

Gabe sighed in pity "Well, sorry kid, but you're gonna have to stay until this is sorted out since you're a witness too." she was well aware of his "nobody gets hurt" policy, which probably controlled his everyday life too.

"What? But- but- I have things to do!" the teen whined.

"Things to do" probably translated to "I need to escape so that Hakuba doesn't know I'm spying on him" or "I need to do recon for my next target" not that Gabe was supposed to know that, so instead of reacting she sighed and called the police.

Once Gabe had called the police and explained the situation she sighed again, putting away her phone. Glancing to where her dog was she blinked at the adorable sight. Kuroba was playing with him. Gabe smiled and rested her cheek on her fist, not saying a word.

"Huh? What is this? Leggo." Kuroba suddenly muttered, pulling something from Vinski's mouth "Don't go chewing on weird things." he scolded the dog.

Gabe frowned "Show me." she said, stretching out her hand, palm up.

Kuroba looked up and blinked "Uh, here." he said, putting whatever it was in her hand.

Bringing it to herself she saw that it was piano wire. Something murderers seemed to love to use in Detective Conan according to her sister "Wooh, it's a good thing you noticed, Vinski could've choked on this or damaged his mouth." not only that, with this being here, the accident might've been a murder.

After investigating the victim's apartment and the roof, Gabe was sure of it. There was no way the woman had just tumbled out the window, like it would look like at first glance. But Gabe knew better. She'd fallen from the roof. She just needed to find something. Gabe went to the alley she'd sat in front of, looking for whatever had lured the victim to the roof in the first place.

"Hey, could it be this?"

Gabe looked behind her and saw Kaito once again "You really want to get this over with so you can leave, don't you?" she asked, amused.

She then looked at what he was holding with his sleeve covering his hand. A pink cellphone with firefly stickers on it.

"Well, I think it's obvious that this belongs to the departed Hotaru-chan." Gabe said as she pulled on her white gloves.

"You carry around white gloves?"

"Don't ask."

The murderer was the victim's sister who lived in the apartment below her. She'd taken the phone and attached it to a long piece of piano wire, she'd then put the phone on the edge of the roof, after rigging another wire in front of it to act as a tripwire. She'd then "helped" her sister look for it and had called the phone while the window was open. Her sister went to the roof and when she was near enough she pulled the phone down, making Hotaru try and catch it, only to trip on the tripwire while cutting herself in the process. Since she'd collected the wire it could be used against her since her sister's blood was on it. Her reason for murder was because Hotaru had stolen her boyfriend in high school. People really didn't need that good a reason to kill, did they?

Gabe sighed "This is pitiful."

"How so?"

Gabe jumped at the sound of Kuroba's voice, having thought he would've skedaddled by now, turning to look at him, she explained "The fact that she felt the need to kill her own sister for such a minor thing... I can't imagine myself or my little sister doing that."

"You never know." the teen said and Gabe thought he sounded bitter.

"Not her. Never her."

"It sounds like you two have a good relationship."

"Yeah, we do. It's always been like that. We didn't really have that many friends growing up, and at some point we didn't need anyone else but us. I'm not sure how it happened, but both of our lives practically revolve around each other. From the way we act, we might as well be identical twins. It's creepy, to be honest." she said before cocking her head "What's your name? Orewa Ojanen Gabrielle-desu, but I'd rather be called Gabe or Oja. I'm a Finnish Detective, yoroshiku." she said politely with a dramatic bow, wanting to be proper but also funny now that the murder case was over.

Kaito blinked before grinning "Heh, I'm Kuroba Kaito, magician extraordinaire, yoroshiku." he said and conjured a rose (from his sleeve) to hand to her.

Gabe grinned and took the rose "Nice, I love magic-shows and tricks. You wouldn't believe how many times sleight-of-hand comes in handy." she drawled the last part, not being able to resist the very bad pun. Or, it would be, were she speaking English, but alas.

"Eh? Really? Who's your favourite magician?" Kaito asked, looking much more energetic than he had a few minutes ago.

"Hmm, good question. I'd have to say... Houdini... this Japanese magician whose name I always forget and... Kaito KID."

"Really? You'd think a detective wouldn't like him since he's a criminal." Kaito said as Gabe started walking in the direction she'd been headed before the body fell from the sky.

Gabe hummed as she heard Kaito follow her "He's not that bad. Besides, he returns what he steals and, honestly, how could I dislike someone who got my sister out of her funk after her boyfriend skedaddled?" she asked him with a smile as Vinski barked happily at her.

It was only a half-lie. KID's heists in this world would actually be lined in such a way that they probably had pulled her sister out of her funk, but the actual funk had been way before that, when her sister discovered Detective Conan. She was pulled out of her funk little by little and dove into the DC world since she had no friends and when she discovered Magic Kaito and later Magic Kaito 1412 she became very lively again. So in a way, Kaito KID had pulled her sister out of her funk.

Besides, knowing her sister, she probably would've watched Kaito KID heists on TV after her boyfriend left her pregnant and heartbroken to feel better while she ate whatever comfort food she felt like eating at the time.

Though now that she was on the subject, she wondered which universe she was in. According to her sister, the movies, animes and mangas had to be set in different universes or realities, since Kaito KID only knew something about Conan or Kudo in the movies, but not in the anime or manga. She'd also told her that some things that were crucial to the plot in the manga were left out of the anime, which prompted TV originals to work in the plot details and some things happened in the wrong order in the anime. That, and the two Magic Kaito series were completely different from each other and the original manga. It was like the FMA thing all over again except FMA was worse.

She almost froze in her steps when she thought of something else. Her sister was a KID fan. KID would have heists here. Her sister would want to go to those heists. KID could hypothetically disguise as her sister, which meant he would have to use some sort of knock-out gas on her, which could damage the baby since Gabe had no idea what the hell KID put into it. Not that he would know, or even consider it since why would a pregnant woman go to a KID heist? Shit.

She turned to look at where Kaito had disappeared to and could still see him walking away. She stood there silently, not sure if she should say anything or not, but deciding against it. It would only look suspicious. Besides, Kuroba had Hakuba to worry about, no need for him to need to stress over her.

She started walking again with a sigh, not feeling any better even after her reasoning. She hated losing arguments with herself. She didn't care how crazy that sounded, it was true. Shrugging her shoulders she started humming as she smiled at Vinski, deciding that she shouldn't dwell on it.

The sight that greeted her was so adorable she couldn't help the soft "naww" that she uttered. Hakuba and Mielikki were sitting together on the couch, but they weren't awake anymore. Mielikki's head was on Hakuba's shoulder and in Hakuba's lap was one of their photo-albums. She had no idea why Mielikki had shown him pictures of, she peered at the page, their childhood, but the fact that she had told Gabe just how much Mielikki actually wanted him to stay. None of her previous boyfriends had been shown the photo-albums, since Mielikki hadn't felt like they were family. Gabe was glad Mielikki had found someone she could think of as family. Maybe she wouldn't have been so okay with it if Hakuba hadn't been an anime guy. Sure, right now he was real flesh and blood, as was everyone in this world, but she knew almost exactly what he was like because he was a character and already knew things about him. While if Mielikki was dating someone from their original world then it would have taken ages for Gabe to trust him because she didn't know if he was showing his true side or not. This was easier. Much easier. She knew this was the real side of Hakuba, even if just a fraction of it.

Gabe grabbed a blanket and draped it over the two sleeping teens, smiling softly. She also smiled when she saw the two birds sitting together and, for the lack of a better word, cuddling. It seemed like everyone had some sort of romantic interest except her. Gabe was very unlucky in finding anyone to date her. She was either not interested in the ones who were interested in her or the ones she was interested in were already in a relationship. It was why Gabe had stopped trying to get herself a significant other. She didn't really crave romance at the moment, perhaps if Mielikki moved somewhere without her she would get "empty-nest syndrome" but who knows?

Her thoughts strayed back to Kuroba Kaito. It was weird meeting him, especially in his civilian identity. She'd only expected to see him at heists and not meet him, even if it seemed like every detective in the series met him or got to see him up close. Gabe had doubted that she'd ever have a close encounter with him, never mind that she'd interacted with him when he'd disguised himself as Mouri Kogoro. It did make her wonder why he'd attended... or how he even knew how to drive since he was a minor. Maybe he spied on Hakuba often. Or all the time. She wondered how extensive that spying was. He had been in Beika at the same time as Hakuba, after all. But she had no evidence, which was a fault of Hakuba's. He didn't know what the viewers and she herself knew, so why did he just assume Kaito was KID? Sure, the audience knew he was right, but he didn't. She wondered what her sister had meant when she'd berated the Hakuba on the screen "Detective Koushien, Hakuba, get a grip!" It sounded like something important but she had no idea if it had happened already or not. She didn't really think it mattered. All that did matter was educating her apprentice and keeping him away from Mouri Kogoro when possible. She really didn't like the fact that the man got away with minor child abuse on a daily basis. She had to find a way to slap and berate him in public, maybe that would put a stop to it. Or maybe not, she'll see when it happens.

She was sure she was forgetting something as she watched a mother try and coax her daughter out of an elevator that was stuck between floors. It wasn't working so well, the girl was much too scared to move from the back of the elevator. Gabe had decided to take her sister and her sister's almost-boyfriend to Tokyo tower, but instead of having a fun time and being slightly afraid of heights while looking down they were faced with this. She really hoped they got the girl out before the elevator decided it was a good moment to drop again. And not stop. Bye bye, human life unfortunate enough to be stuck in a faulty elevator.

"I really hope they get the girl out soon." Mielikki said in English, biting her thumbnail, as was a nervous tick of hers.

"So do I." Hakuba agreed, standing closer than necessary to Mielikki without outright touching her.

"I have a bad feeling... a very bad feeling..." Gabe said, twisting her class ring around her middle finger, as was a nervous tick of hers.

"That can't be good." Mielikki said, looking more worried than before.

"What do you mean by that?" Hakuba asked, confused.

Gabe knew he didn't believe in the supernatural, so it was only expected for him to ask. It wasn't that Gabe was superstitious, but...

"Both Gabe and I inherited our mother's imagination and our father's paranoia. If one of us thinks something is gonna go wrong, it's probably gonna go wrong. Kinda like how I only start making dinner after Gabe's come home form an outing, because all three of us know she's somehow become a corpse-magnet." Mielikki explained to her crush as Hakuba eyed her dubiously.

"I still think you're blowing that out of proportion." Hakuba said, not unkindly.

"I wish she was, but it would be nice to be able to walk Vinski without having to watch out for falling corpses." Gabe told him, still sore about the incident of the falling woman.

She hadn't had to watch out for falling corpses after that, but she came across far too many cases for her liking.

That's when she spotted a familiar set of sneakers. She followed the small feet and saw Conan walking towards a man who seemed familiar, then she realized it was Takagi Wataru, the officer she'd met on the Arcade Murder Case. Gabe was about to walk over when she remembered her sister was with her. Looking over her shoulder she looked at Mielikki, not sure if she should leave her. She was positive something was terribly wrong, the little genius attracted far too much trouble and if what she'd heard was correct, an explosion was the cause of the elevator malfunctioning.

People were already evacuating and her sister, seeing something in her expression no one else could, smiled at her.

"Just go, me and Saguru will go with the rest of the people here." she said in Finnish, taking Hakuba's hand, causing the teen to twitch in surprise.

Gabe smiled, once again glad that the two of them were so in synch, she hadn't even needed to voice her concerns "Ok, be safe, hey pretty boy," she began in Finnish but abruptly switched to English to address the half-Brit "you make sure she gets out of here unharmed, I'm gonna check this out." she then made her way over to Conan and Takagi while Mielikki dragged Hakuba towards the stairs.

Apparently it was someone's, probably Conan's, bad idea to stick said boy into the elevator to fetch the girl, Akemi, from the elevator.

"This is a dumb idea." Gabe piped up in deadpan, standing on a chair beside the officer of the law.

"Ah! When did you get there!" Takagi yelled at her form his own perch on top of a chair, holding Conan up, in the process of helping him through the very teeny-tiny gap that was the only way to get into the elevator.

"Just got here." Gabe chirped, liking that she'd managed to spook him, even if it was ridiculously easy to do so.

In no time, Conan coaxed the girl out of the elevator and into the arms of Takagi. That's when things went south. The girl was safely in her mother's arms, but the elevator dropped. Gabe, on instinct, lunged for Conan, and thus ended up trapped in the elevator with a seven-year-old boy and a police officer older than herself.

Mielikki looked back at the building that resembled the Eiffel Tower with dread. She'd heard people saying that the elevator had plummeted again and now there were three people trapped inside. Her sister, her sister's protégé and a police officer. Saguru was silent as she fidgeted, hoping to hear something to ease her worries. Sadly, this was not to be.

When her phone rung she answered it in record time "Nyt perkele, Gabe." (For fuck's sake, Gabe *ish, no good translation for this phrase) she practically yelled into the phone.

"Warui, warui. I tumbled into the elevator along with darling Conan and Takagi, the boys are trying to open the hatch on the roof so that we can get out. Oh, it's open, I'll be outta here in no time." her sister soothed through the electronic device.

Mielikki sighed in relief and smiled, but that smile dropped immediately when she heard muffled yelling that sounded like Conan "Sis, what happened?"

There was a brief silence before Gabe replied in a grave tone "Aikapommi." (Time bomb.)

Mielikki's breathing stopped as her world screeched to a halt from that single word.

Her sister continued to speak "There's also a mercury switch, so even the slightest vibration could set it off. There's also a bug, so we can't leave without the bomber most likely setting the thing off. While I have complete confidence in Conan's skills, if something does go wrong and this is the last time I get to talk to you..."

Mielikki was looking at the ground by now and she could see her tears falling on her shoes, staining them "Don't say that... please... don't say that!" she hiccuped.

Saguru was at her side and she noticed that she was shaking "Mie?"

She'd given him permission to call her that, since her name was hard for him to pronounce, him being a native English-speaker and all. It was nice to have a pet-name from someone other than her sister. Of course, at the moment she'd give anything to have her sister out of that stupid box she was in.

"Give the phone to Hakuba, would ya? I need to talk to him for a moment." Gabe asked of her.

Mielikki couldn't even give a verbal response and just handed Saguru the phone.

"Hello?" he said into the phone when he got it, sounding unsure.

Mielikki wasn't paying attention to anything, instead she was repeating the same phrase in her head, finding it ironic at that moment Finnish perseverance takes you through even gray stone.

Hakuba wasn't sure what was going on, but he knew that Gabe hadn't arrived yet. When the situation was talked about by the people around them he became worried and when Mielikki's phone rang he hoped it was her sister calling. But when Mielikki proceeded to become more and more upset as the call went on he became worried. He knew something had gone wrong and was a little afraid of taking the phone when it was offered, but took it since he'd probably get some answers.

"Hello?" he answered into the phone in his native language, waiting for an answer.

"Hey. I have a favour to ask you." came the much-less-confident voice of Gabrielle Ojanen.

"What do you want me to do?"

"If I don't make it out of this rigged box... then take care of her for me."

Hakuba stopped short. In the time he'd got to know the woman he'd learned just how much she cared for her little sister. The feeling was mutual for the sisters, but the fact that Hakuba was asked to take care of Mielikki told him how much Gabe trusted him.

"Swear to me. Swear to me, should I not live to see the outside of this elevator, that you will take care of the one who matters to me more than my life. Swear to me, Saguru."

She'd never called him by his first name either "I swear... not that it's needed. Because you will exit that elevator alive, Ojanen, you hear me?" he demanded of the woman.

A weary chuckle was her response "We'll see, take care, pikkuveli." (little brother)

Hakuba gave the phone back to Mielikki and gazed up at the red tower.

You will exit that building, he thought, eyes narrowing you're much too stubborn to lie down in front of death.

Mielikki sniffed when Saguru gave her back her phone, hoping to still be able to hear Gabe's voice, that she hadn't hung up yet.

"Sis?"

"Still here blue-cloak."

"Don't leave."

"I can't promise you that."

Mielikki swallowed through the lump in her throat, the thought of this maybe being the last time she heard her sister's voice finally sinking in. It had been a long time since her sister had said to her: I can't promise you that. Gabe's promises were always kept, if she said she couldn't promise something, then she doubted that she would be able to fulfill a promise. Gabe was stubborn enough to be able to do almost anything. This one phrase told Mielikki a lot.

With this in mind she shakily said "If it's a girl, what should I name it?"

"Don't-"

"If it's a girl. What. Should. I. Name. It?"

"... Santtu..."

"The baby becomes Gabriel by default if it's a boy. Just so you know."

"Of course it does."

"Love you..."

"Love you too. Quickly replace this Sherlock with the next available Holmes, ok?"

With that Gabe hung up and Mielikki was left to chew on that last bit of dialogue. She was always good at riddles. Replace Sherlock with Holmes. Replace a detective with a detective. An available Holmes would be single. Replace Sherlock with Holmes = replace Gabe with a single detective. A single detective that reminded her of Sherlock Holmes would be Saguru Hakuba. Quickly replace this Sherlock with the next available Holmes = hook up with Hakuba before I die. Gabe did always say that she would get her a boyfriend if it was the last thing she did. She guessed that was what she'd been doing form the day she first brought Saguru home with her.

Looking at the phone in her hand and making a decision she lifted her gaze to rest upon Saguru. She stepped closer but didn't look at him directly, instead looking at the tower like him.

"Be my boyfriend." she said flatly.

"What?" was his response.

She turned her head to look him in the eyes "I like you and Gabe likes you and trusts you enough to let you be in the same room alone with me. I think you feel somewhat the same since we often stand much too close together to be considered strictly friendly. Besides... Gabe always wanted for me to have a boyfriend before she died..."

Saguru didn't seem to feel comfortable with getting together with her so quickly, but eventually sighed and said "I can't deny I want to be more than friends, but I also don't want either of us to regret this later."

Mielikki smiled at him "We'll cross that bridge if it comes, but I doubt it will. You're the first guy not to call me names after you found out I was pregnant after all."

With that she opened her phone's camera, kissed Saguru on the cheek and took a picture of that before sending it to Gabe. This way, if worst came to pass, Gabe would have been content. Though, Mielikki did doubt the fact that her sister would actually die. Her sister was much too stubborn and the kid she was training was even worse. Saguru was left stunned at Mielikki's bold move and was still blinking by the time the picture had been sent.

Gabe looked down at the sound of a "sonic screwdriver" was what her sister had called it, that was the set tone for any texts from her sister. By this time the bomb squad was lowering tools down to Conan so that he would be able to disable the bomb. Gabe took out her phone and flipped it open, opening the message her sister had sent. Once it was opened a large grin spread across her face. The picture was priceless as was Hakuba's face, but the text added to it was hilarious too. "Working on it." it said.

Gabe was confident that they'd make it out alive, since the series would end if Conan died, but the nervousness was still there, especially since this was a bomb they were handling. But that didn't stop her from emotionally blackmailing her sister to hook up with Hakuba, it was about time in her opinion. Besides, this way she'd saved the teen from that witch whose name started with an A that she didn't like. She had some sort of allure-powers that worked on everyone but Kaito, which was cool but very irritating. If the woman tried to get close to her sisters new bo she'd get a fist in that "pretty" face of hers.

After putting away her phone she called up "Ok, instructions please!" to Conan, holding up her hands.

Once she had the blueprint and walkie-talkie in her hands she smirked "Alright, let's play 'operation' except with explosives."

Takagi sweatdropped, thinking She's one scary lady...

On the roof, Conan was thinking along those lines too.

"Alright, Conan, there should be some night-vision goggles in that bag, put those on, 'cause the guys up top are gonna cut the lights. Once that's done you need to take off the cover beside the mercury switch and look for a photosensitive lens, it should look like a webcam or at least have a lens so that it looks like a camera of some sort." Gabe explained to the kid in easily understandable terms, since she thought he was only seven. She also had no idea that he already knew how to defuse bombs.

Conan was actually relieved, this way Takagi wouldn't know he already knew, and as long as Gabe's instructions were correct there'd be nothing to tip her off either. And her instructions were so simple that even a seven-year-old could've defused the bomb. The problem came in the form of the text on the LCD-screen.

"Takagi-keiji." Conan spoke up gravely, having dropped his wristwatch flashlight "I need to have a word with you."
