Olivia Ryan
Olivia was surprised when Dylan was put into Gryffindor. Everybody knew that the Marvils are always Slytherin. Olivia could tell that Dylan was surprised too. She didn't even pretend to be happy to join her new house. Olivia knew she would be happy no matter what house she was put in. Her parents taught her to always be grateful for every opportunity. Even though Olivia would rather be a Hufflepuff or a Gryffindor, if she were put into Slytherin or Ravenclaw she would still be happy and she is sure she could make friends. Her new friend Claire was in Hufflepuff so it would definitely be great if they could be in the same House, but Massie was in Gryffindor and since Kristen was a Ravenclaw she might look for a new member of the PC which should obviously go to Olivia. Not that she would stop being friends with Claire if she was a PC members. She is too nice for that.
"LeeAnn Miller!" called out Professor McGonagall
"Hufflepuff!" the hat called out.
"Padma Patil!"
"Ravenclaw!"
"Parvarti Patil!"
"Gryffindor!"
"Chris Plovert!"
Chris Plovert was good friends with Derrick and his group making him very popular in Aliquam Velit. Plovert was kind of the odd ball in the group though. He had glasses, he was a little dorky, and he enjoyed studying. He was kind of the Kristen of their group which made Olivia think he would be a Ravenclaw.
"Ravenclaw!"
Chris went and joined Kristen at the Ravenclaw table.
"Harry Potter!"
The room grew silent. Olivia knew all about Harry Potter and how he was a legend in the wizarding world. Olivia and her parents were also believers that his twin sister was still out there somewhere. Olivia feels bad for the poor boy. Olivia always wanted a twin, but she could only imagine how empty one must feel if their twin was ripped away from them.
After a few minutes the hat made its decision.
"Gryffindor!"
The Gryffindor table went wild. Some twins even kept chanting "We've got Potter!". It seemed like forever for the place to quiet down.
"Alicia Rivera!"
Olivia used to be good friends with Alicia until Alicia befriended Massie. Then Alicia felt that she was too good for poor little Olivia. Olivia isn't mad though. She just knows that she would have been a better person in that situation.
"Gryffindor!"
Alicia looked a little bit surprised since her cousins were all Slytherins, but still seemed happy with her placement as she went to join Massie and Dylan.
"Oliver Rivers!"
"Hufflepuff!"
"Olivia Ryan!"
Olivia smiled brightly. She was so ready to be put into her new second home.
Olivia sat down and the hat was put onto her head.
"Ah Olivia you seem to have a heart of gold. You want friendship, compassion, and love. Slytherin would not be a good match for you and Ravenclaw might be a little bit too studious for one of your nature. Gryffindor would be alright because you are brave enough to do anything for a friend, but I think you might be more suited in..."
"Hufflepuff!" the hat called out.
Olivia smiled brightly as her new house cheered for her. Olivia took a seat next to Claire who was sitting across from Derrick and Cam who both clapped for her. Olivia smiled. She already felt like she belonged.
As they quieted down Olivia listened to the rest to see who else would join her family.
"Dempsey Solumn!"
Dempsey was good friends with Layne Abley so Olivia didn't really socialize with him, but he was a nice enough boy.
"Ravenclaw!"
Dempsey seemed happy to join his friend.
"Dean Thomas!"
"Gryffindor!"
"Lisa Turpin!"
"Ravenclaw!"
"James Watson!"
"Gryffindor!"
"Ron Weasley!"
"Gryffindor!"
"Blaise Zabini!"
This was the last 1st year and then the feast would begin. The boy was Italian with dark skin. He was very handsome, but had a very snobby look on his face.
"Slytherin!"
Once he joined his table the hat was taken away and the headmaster Dumbledore stood up and everyone went quiet.
"Welcome to a new year at Hogwarts! Before we begin our feast I would like to say a few words and here they are: Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak! Thank you," he said.
Olivia giggled as the man sat back down while everyone clapped. Then right before their eyes a feast appeared before them.
"I am so excited that we are both in the same house Claire," Olivia smiled.
"Me too. I'm just glad I at least know two of you," Claire said speaking of Olivia and Cam. The three of them shared a compartment together. Olivia never spent a lot of time with Cam, but always thought he was nice.
Olivia took some potatoes and roast beef and put it on her plate. Then she began to eat.
"Hey little brother welcome to Hufflepuff!" exclaimed Cam's older brother as he made room next to Cam and sat down with his plate.
"Thanks Harris. I know you know Olivia and Derrick, but do you remember Claire from the train station?" Cam asked.
"Of course it was only a couple hours ago. Congratulations Claire. You are going to love Hogwarts and the Hufflepuff House. If you need anything just let me know," Harris smiled.
"Harris is Head Boy and a Hufflepuff prefect," Cam explained.
"Oh I just love seeing all these new Hufflepuffs. That was my old house you know," said the Fat Friar ghost as he flew over the Hufflepuff table.
Olivia saw Claire go pale at the sight of the ghost. Olivia would be nervous too, but he just seemed so nice.
"Don't be scared Claire. He's nice. Harris told me all about our House Ghost," Cam said.
"Yeah Sammi tells me that the ghosts are harmless. Its the school poltergeist Peeves that you have to worry about. He is always trying to prank students," Derrick said.
"Great," Claire sighed.
"His pranks are harmless. Just annoying I assure you," Harris explained.
"So what are classes like. I tried to read through the text books, but it all still seems so weird to me," Claire explained.
"Well most of the classes are really interesting. Especially for someone who hasn't grown up in a magical house. The Head of the Hufflepuff House is Professor Sprout. She will be your Herbology Teacher. She's really great and will always help you if you need it," Harris explained.
"What does Professor Flitwick teach? He was the professor they sent to let me know about me being a witch," Claire asked.
"Oh Professor Flitwick is awesome too. He is the Head of the Ravenclaw House and he is quite zany. It is hard to find someone who doesn't like him though," Harris said.
"I don't think I'm ever going to get used to this," Claire said looking around in awe.
"You will. I'll help," Cam smiled.
"We all will," Olivia smiled.
Claire smiled back at them.
Olivia could tell that this was going to be a great year.
Ok so I totally noticed that in the last chapter during the sorting I started announcing the students I went from calling them by their last name first to their first name first. Sorry! I guess that is what I get for posting when I was sleepy.
