A/n: I feel really bad for not updating sooner. As of lately, I've been struck with a case of writer's block. As most of you know, that is one of the worst things a writer can get. So please be lenient towards my absence.
Chapter 12
The next morning, I woke up and had to run out into the living room to make sure I wasn't dreaming. Erik was fast asleep on the couch, lying on his stomach with his right arm hanging off. I nearly laughed at the sight, but thought of how cute he was when he was sleeping. So peaceful and serene, yet full of life. The corners of my mouth lifted up into a smile and I walked to the kitchen for some food. Not even ten minutes into cooking some bacon, both Cheyanne and Erik had ventured into the kitchen with me. "I smell bacon!" Cheyanne said, still in her sleeping t-shirt and pajama pants. "You better cook some for Erik and I."
"Don't worry, Chey." I replied with a laugh. "I wouldn't forget you guys. Especially you, because I know you'd steal all of mine." Erik laughed and sat down at the table.
"How do you like your eggs, Erik?" I asked.
"It has been so long since I've eaten eggs that I seem to have forgotten how I like them." Erik answered. "Whatever way you like them will be fine by me." I liked my eggs over-easy, so Erik would be getting the same. Cheyanne liked her's scrambled, but she always cooked them herself since I wasn't too good at it. When I finished cooking the eggs for Erik and me, I grabbed a few pieces of bacon for him and myself. Soon enough, all three of us were happily eating breakfast.
"We have school today, Erik, so you're going to have to stay here alone." Cheyanne said. Erik nodded, taking a drink of his orange juice. "I assume you'll be fine with this."
"It isn't like I have been alone for a few hours, mademoiselle." Erik stated, putting his empty dishes in the sink. I hadn't noticed until now, but he looked kind of scraggily this morning. His black hair seemed to be longer and unkempt. A beard had started to grow, but was only stubble at the moment. I made a note to myself to get Erik some hygiene products before returning home from the campus and to cut his hair. Erik sat back down at the table and drummed his fingers against the table while I finished eating.
After breakfast, I quickly got ready for school. I decided to wear a sweater dress with leggings and a pair of black, knee-high boots. My hair was pulled into a low ponytail and I put on some mascara. I grabbed my book bag and headed out of my room. Erik was sitting on the couch, watching a documentary on the oceans of Earth. When he noticed I was in the room, he smiled. "You look..."
"Let's go, Selena. We don't want to be late for Mr. Jacobson's class." Cheyanne interrupted Erik. She grabbed my arm and dragged me towards the door. "See you, Erik. We should be back by lunch."
I looked over my shoulder and smiled bashfully. "Bye, Erik." That was all I got to say before the door closed behind me.
...
We had left the house at around six-thirty and it was now twelve twenty-five. I had just finished my last class for the morning and was ready to go home for lunch and relax until my next class. Cheyanne wouldn't get out for another fifteen minutes so I sat at a bench in the middle of the Boise State Campus. It was still winter, meaning that it was still pretty cold. I hunkered down in my coat and waited for my best friend. Around me, groups of students walked by, heading to whatever they had next. A boy that was standing amongst some of his peers met my eyes and he turned to his friends, saying something I couldn't hear. Then he began to walk my way. "Hello there." he greeted, stopping to think. "Selena, right?"
"Yeah. We have Chem. together, don't we?" I replied. The man sat on the bench next to me and nodded. He had short, strawberry blonde hair that was neatly gelled up, and piercing blue eyes. "I would try to guess your name, but I honestly have no clue."
"The name is Rowan Carter." We shook hands and he looked towards where his friends had been, but they had since left. "I've been meaning to get to know you better, but you were gone for a few days after the semester started."
"Oh, I was in Paris." He had a questioning look and I laughed. "I had to meet someone there. A close friend that hadn't seen me in ages. He wasn't able to come here, so I went to him." When I revealed that my friend was a male, Rowan seemed to get a disappointed look.
"Well," Rowan said, standing up. "It was nice talking to you Selena. I hope we can talk again." With those words, Rowan walked off with his hands in his pockets. It was obvious to me that he had been flirting and I didn't want to tell him that I was sort of in a relationship. I didn't even know if Erik and I were in a relationship. Rowan seemed like a nice enough guy so I didn't doubt that he'd find a nicer girl than me. Cheyanne came running my way, nearly slipping on some ice and tumbling head first into a pile of dirty snow.
"Let's go home. It is freezing and I want to take a nap, snuggled under my blankets." Cheyanne said in an annoyed tone. Once we were in the car, she turned the heat all the way up and pulled out of the parking lot. "We're also stopping at Dutch Bros. for some coffee." Needless to say, we went to Dutch Bros. and bought some warm drinks for the cold day.
A/n: Bleh... I feel like this wasn't very well written or had much going for the plot. At least I posted something, right? Review, my lovely readers. Bye! ^^
