The Doctor finds pears in his kitchen.
"Rose! We have to get out of the TARDIS!" the Doctor yelled down the hallway, startling her from the latest Harry Potter.
"Doctor? What, why?" she asked confusedly. She threw the book down and sprang to her feet, ready to run from whatever threat had invaded the TARDIS.
Not seconds later, the Doctor burst into the library, all Oncoming Storm and leather, and Rose's posture stiffened.
"What is it, Doctor? Is it Daleks?" Rose asked, grabbing his hand to run with him.
"Worse than Daleks," he said while they sprinted for the door.
"Worse than Daleks?" Fear gripped her heart tightly, and she made sure her grip on the Doctor was rock solid. "What are we dealin' with?"
"No time!" he called to her as he dragged them outside the door. When he was satisfied that the door was shut and locked behind them, the Doctor let out a huge sigh of relief and leaned against the frame.
"What was it, Doctor?" Rose asked anxiously. "What could be worse than the Daleks?"
"Pears," the Doctor said with the most hate she had ever seen him muster.
"Pears?" she asked confusedly. "Did someone change them somehow?"
"No," he said, glaring at her like she should be understanding him, "they're just as disgustin' as they always been."
Rose looked at him, blinked, and burst into laughter, holding her sides.
"What?" he asked, sulkily. "What was so funny?"
"You," she said, gasping, "You ran outta the TARDIS 'cause of some pears?"
"Disgustin' pears!" the Doctor exclaimed huffily. "I don't even wanna be in there with the smell of 'em. I don't even know how they got in there!"
Rose only howled with laughter. "I got them from my mother, Doctor. I love pears. She thought I might be missin' them when I said we didn't have any."
"Did you ever think maybe there was a good reason?" he asked.
"Nah," she said, "just thought aliens didn't have pears."
"For good reasons," the Doctor grumbled, covering his chest with his arms.
"Is there anythin' else I should take out so I don't have to run away from the TARDIS?" she asked him.
"No," he huffed. "But you might do with gettin' them pears out."
"You made me lose my place in Harry Potter!" Rose said exasperatedly as they walked back into the console room. "And only for some pears!"
