Why won't this work! (StapiStapiStapiStapi) Oh what the fudge! I give up! For some reason I can't commit Seppuku and I was looking so forward to coming back as a zombie or as a ghost and haunt everyone who annoys me.

Oh well, guess I will just have to introduce this chapter until I find out why this stupid blade isn't working.

I apologize for the shortness of the chapter, I wanted to make it longer but it just felt it right to stop.

But I will try and give you a longer next time and update faster.

Now, I usually list everyone who supports me in this bit, but to be honest guys…There are just too many! Which isn't a bad thing. Nope, not a bad thing at all, so you will have to settle with a heartfelt THANK YOU FOR REVIEWING/FAVORITE/FOLLOWING/READING MY STORY! YOU GUYS ARE THE GREATEST.

Hrmm… sorry for the ruptured eardrums.

Also, again would like to thank my lovely Beta Reader: Skidplanir who is also my digital pen-friend^^

Chapter Twelve: Police and Pebble

Officer Duncan looked down at his notes, an eyebrow raised as his eyes searched the words he had written down. He felt as if a part was missing and without it something just didn't add up, but he couldn't put his finger on what. The witness he was currently questioning had been one of the hostages. It was a young woman with long brown hair that now hung loose around her shoulders and dark blue eyes that reminded Duncan of the ocean at dusk. He admitted that she was quite fetching and possibly one he would ask out if they had met in a bar, but alas, he was on the job and the young woman was sitting on the edge of one of the ambulances, having been treated for her injuries.

Compared to other cases he had been on, this hostage situation had turned out very lucky. None of the victims had been seriously injured or wounded. In fact, the woman, named Julia Anderson, had been the one who got off worst and even with that said she was rather lucky.

Beside some bruised ribs, a wounded knee, a lump on the head and a cracked lip she was fine and was now sitting and holding an icepack to the lip. You could see the bandage around her knee through the hole in her jeans that had splotches of blood on them, as had her t-shirt from where the blood had seeped down from her mouth.

Clearing his throat, Officer Duncan straightened his back and asked "and you didn't see what happened after the explosion?"

He was not completely sure why he needed to confirm her story. She was not a suspect in any way, quite the opposite actually. She seemed to be the heroine.

She nodded slightly and said "Yes, like a said, I must have lost consciousness".

"Because of some debris?" he confirmed rather than asked. Another nod.

"Yes, must have knocked me out for a minute or so because when I woke up there was still smoke everywhere and the police hadn't come in yet" she answered confidently, holding the icepack a little away from her so she could better answer.

"And then you began freeing the other hostages," he looked down at the statement he had written down,

"…with a knife you found on the scene?"

Her story sounded too incredible to be true, but he had no evidence or even motive that Miss Anderson would lie or conceal anything. The lump on the head backed her story of the falling debris up.

At last, Duncan decided that there was nothing more that he could do and therefor shut his notebook.

"Thank you for your cooperation Miss Anderson, please call this number if you remember anything else" he handed her the police card which she took, studied a second before sticking it in her pocket.

"Thank you"

"Do you have anyone that can drive you home? Or do you need a lift" secretly he hoped on the second one, thinking it would give him some time to get to know her and maybe get a chance of a date.

To his disappointment she shook her head and said "No, I'll be fine. I'll phone somebody who can come and get me, thank you officer".

He tipped his hat a bit and wandered off. He noticed officer Mulberry walk over to her, something in the officer's hand that Duncan couldn't make out. Mulberry handed Julia Anderson the device that he now could see and looked a bit like a cross between a pager and a video game. He had half a mind to make up an excuse to go back, so he could see the device when something hard suddenly hid him the back of the neck. Whirling around to see who did it he found no one. On the ground laid a small pebble. Rubbing the sore spot he simply shrugged annoyed and continued towards the crowd of reporters that had gathered around the crime scene.

Back with Julia

Julia let out a relieved sigh, fiddling with the communicator that had just been delivered to her by one of the other officers. She had been afraid of losing it and that the police would get their hands on it for real. It was after all alien technology and very plausible would raise some questions that she couldn't answer without revealing her alien friends. She was also glad that Officer Duncan had left. She had noticed him giving her a mixture of suspicious and almost flirting glances, both of which made her uncomfortable.

It had been surprisingly easy to come up with a believable story about how she hadn't been able to see the 'vigilantes', sticking as close to the truth as she was able.

One thing did however worry her. The police had captured four of the robbers. There had been five and to her horror and worry, the one who had gotten away had been the female. The one who had nearly decorated the floor with her brain. Somehow she must have woken up and made a run for it, but how she had escaped the police Julia couldn't fathom. But knowing that maniac was loose was enough to make her shiver.

Letting out a heavy sigh she stood up, wincing a bit and looked down to her hidden ribs which were the cause of her pain. She had only seen her side for a moment when the paramedic had lifted her shirt to see and feel the ribs, but already twenty minutes after receiving them the bruises were turning black and blue.

"Guess I'm not gonna sleep on my side or stomach any time soon" Julia groaned a bit made her way towards the parking lot where her faithful truck stood and waited for her. Lucky for her, the reporters hadn't seemed to notice her as she duck under the yellow police tape with the words KEEP OUT in big, bold letters. The press was currently too busy talking to some of the other hostages, namely the little red haired girl who now had her unicorn safely in her arms. Julia smiled lightly and then turned around.

The parking lot, now that she thought about it, was quite isolated from the rest of the street. It was placed between two large buildings and a row of still green bushes. Julia walked with a small limp over to her car, placing a flat hand on the warm metal as Betsy had been standing in the blazing sun for quite some time and soaked up the warmth. It wasn't scorching or burning, it was simply warm like in the winter when you warm your hands on a cup of cocoa. That was the feeling the truck gave.

With a small sigh that cost a small amount of pain from the ribs, Julia began unlocking the door.

"You are not seriously thinking about driving, are you?" A voice suddenly said from behind her.

Normally Julia would have jumped and probably taken a swing at the person for scaring her, but she didn't because of two reasons.

One, the voice was familiar and she was pretty used to the sudden appearance of it.

Two, she had this hollow feeling in her chest. She guessed it was shock.

Turning around she saw the whole gang: Charlie, Throttle, Vinnie and Modo standing. It had been Charlie who had spoken, her arms crossed like a mother who discovered her daughter trying to sneak out the window of her bedroom. Then she extended her hand, gesturing Julia who obediently dropped the car keys in her palm.

"Sorry guys," she said, suddenly feeling slightly dizzy "guess I wasn't really thinking".

Jelly seemed to have replaced the otherwise sturdy bones in her legs, making them all wobbly. Then black spots began dotting her vision and she squinted to get a proper fix on the mice and the female mechanic. Trying to steady herself, or at least get her head to stop spinning, Julia placed her hand on her forehead.

"I don't feel that well, guys" she managed to murmur before the dark spots completely engulfed her and her body gave up under her.

Throttle who had seen her wavering was quick and caught her before her head hit the street, adding to her injury. He looked down at the brown haired woman through his green glasses, simply seeing the cracked lip was enough for his blood to boil.

There was nothing he wanted more than to find those robbers himself and make them pay for hurting Julia, but he couldn't. He couldn't risk her and Charlie's safety by openly revealing who he and his bro's were and besides, right now Julia needed to rest in her own home so she could wake up in familiar surroundings.

"Is she alright?" Vinnie asked, looking down at their newest member of the group with worry.

Throttle nodded and said "Yeah, our Julia is a tough girl, she just needs some rest" he looked over at Charlie.

"Can you drive her home? Don't think it would be wise putting her on a bike" he cracked a small smile, trying to lighten the mood he had been creating. She was alive and okay, just a little battered but as he had said to Vinnie; Julia was a tough girl who had wacked his bro with a frying pan, saved him from the junkyard and protected their secret even after such a terrible experience.

Yes, Julia Anderson might not look like it, but she was tough as nails and just as resilient.

"Of course, just get her into the truck" Charlie agreed grabbing the door to the driver's seat.

It proved a little difficult to get the unconscious Julia into the seat, at least without causing her some kind of pain. Though she wouldn't wake up, her face would wince and her body would go tense.

In the end they managed to sit her in a way that would cause least discomfort.

"I'll see you back at her house" Charlie waved and rolled out of the parking lot and towards the house with the biker mice hot in her heels.
