A/N: Hey guys, this is the last chapter, I will follow up with an epilogue so don't worry. But thanks to all those who have followed and hopefully my next fic will be better. Again the more you review the more I am likely to keep on writing.
As they walked through the door of Victor's court, both Jane and Maura were thinking of escape plans. They knew that any plan would be hard, but they also knew that if they didn't try they would be dead anyways. As they were walking to the main function room were Maura had discussed the wolf case with her father, they had suddenly stopped. Ian then turned around with a grin that Jane would have been happy to replace with pain.
"As you know Maura, Victor is hosting his court today. So he will be indisposed for the time being. Until then I have many activities I think both of you will… well enjoy would be a stretch for you but for me, it will be satisfying," Ian turned to the guard on his left and relayed instruction for both women to be taken down to the labs in the basement. The guards then tugged at their captives even though Jane resisted with all her might, it was obvious her human strength was no match even for young vampire heavies such as the one who were carrying them.
As they got into the elevator at the end of the corridor and stepped in the feeling of being trapped was seeping into both of the captive's minds. Maura for the first time looked up to Jane and stared at her in the eye. I'm sorry, was all she managed to communicate with the love of her life, but as per usual Jane was too stubborn and shook her head in defiance. As the doors opened, they saw the instruments that were common place in a lab, scalpels, computers and many books. The only addition that Jane was freaked out about was the autopsy like table modified with metal restraints and the long sword over the desk.
As they stepped into the room and Maura realised what that table was for she began struggling against the two vampire henchmen.
"No! You let her go; she has nothing to do with this… Just take some of her blood that's all you need. Please!" As Maura shouted this, Jane was being manhandled and forced to lie on the table.
Jane was now pinned by the metal restraints, "you let me go you fucker, or I swear my boot will be so far up your arse." The two henchmen chuckled knowing that a human couldn't take one of them let alone the three that were in the room.
As Jane and Maura struggled against their captors, Ian walked in wearing a lab coat and pulling on a pair of latex gloves.
"So Like what I've done with the place? I call it Frankenstein chic. Anyways enough about the décor we all know why we are here, so let's get started." Ian then continued his way over to Jane, picked up a scalpel from the side table and held it over the detective's neck.
"Ah detective, you see when I heard of you and Maura over there being more than just plain old colleagues, I just had to get to know you. Of course wasn't too difficult to find out about Hoyt, so I wonder how you feel if I just went crazy with a scalpel hmmm?" Ian then proceeded to knick a bit of Jane's skin near the Jugular. Maura squirmed under the grip of her guards.
"Get of her!" Maura started to cry at the thought of her lover being hurt.
"Why would I want to do that, now onto some real testing?" Ian then proceeded to fix his large needle.
Meanwhile…
Victor was currently sat at the head of his court watching his subjects and Lords converse and mill around the great function room. As he was watching one of his servants came up behind him and put his mouth to his ear.
"Your Majesty, Ian is here with your daughter and one Jane Rizzoli, apparently this Jane Rizzoli is the answer to the wolf problem." Victor nodded at the words and silently stood as he did so the room fell silent and bowed as he stepped down and walked over to the room on his right.
As he went in the servant shut the door and switched on the screen that was in front of them. The image that came up was one of the lab with Maura being held by guards, Jane on the table and Ian drawing blood from the woman who was gradually getting weaker and weaker.
"Ian has not said anything of this to me… I'm guessing that one of the bookkeepers knows of this. Who is the one that Maura protects?" Victor now looked to his servant who bowed his head.
"Vicki O'Shea, she is currently in holding on Ian's orders your Majesty." Ian nodded and looked to the screen. He turned towards the door and headed out.
"Get Miss O'Shea to my office now, I need to get to the bottom of this."
Back in the Lab…
"No! No, no, please let her live." Maura was now hysterical and collapsed to the ground.
Ian stopped what he was doing and walked over to the vampire on the floor; he put his finger under her chin and lifted her head to meet his eyes.
"You should know better Maura; this human should not have this hold over you. That and she is just a science project, a means to an end and I will end her life if I deem it necessary." He got up and walked back over to the table of which Jane was on, now the human was weak and didn't bother fighting.
Ian looked back over his shoulder at the bowed head of his ex-fiancé and grinned, "Which by the way will happen soon." He laughed and turned back to his so called project and continued to pump Jane of blood.
Maura on the other hand snapped, using all her strength, she tossed one of the guards to one side of the room, and then broke the spine of the other. She raced over to Ian and grabbed him by the throat. In response Ian flipped Maura onto her back and both in high speed started to fight. Jane was starting to come too after so much blood had been taken and shifted her gazed to the hazed figures that seemed as if they were dancing around the room.
"Maura…" Jane didn't even recognise her strained voice as she called out to her.
Maura then managed to flip Ian onto the control table on one side of the room and with fast hit she released Jane's restraints.
"Jane, run!" before she could say anything else Ian pushed her back and started his assault again. As Ian grabbed Maura's head ready to pull it off a swish was heard. Maura felt the release of Ian's grip and stepped away. She turned back and saw a headless Ian standing, as his body fell to the ground she saw a very pale Jane holding the long sword that was above the desk full of papers and books. Jane then dropped the sword and fell to her knees then onto her back.
Maura rushed over and held her human love in her lap and cried knowing the damage of her sustained blood loss had already done its work.
"Jane, please stay with me, please… I love you; you can't leave now that I have found you. Please stay with me…. JANE!" As Maura sobbed she didn't realise she was not alone, in the door way was her father, his servant and a very pissed off Vicki.
"ahh crap," Vicki ran to Maura's side and checked Jane's pulse. "It's weak, we need to transfuse now." As Vicki went to get up Victor grabbed her arm stopping her.
"No, we need that blood for tests and an anti-virus." Maura looked up at her father's words and instead of going ballistic, she bowed her head onto the floor and begged.
"Please, father I beg of you. Let her live, she will be more use for you alive than dead." Victor took this into consideration. Any other outbreak would need an antidote from this blood line, keeping it alive seemed logical. He nodded and let go of Vicki who quickly went to the blood bags and grabbed them. As soon as she got to Maura's side, the vampire princess quickly went to work restoring the lost blood. Victor stepped back and sat in the chair that was near the desk with all his books and stared at his daughter and the woman who had her heart.
He never knew Maura to be quite so attached to someone, especially a human, but he saw the love in her eyes. Being as old as he was meant he had seen it so many times in humans, in his opinion it made them stronger. He always wondered if that would be the case with these two. Vicki had told him everything, including the part in which Maura and Jane were destined to fall in love, and realised that he did not want to lose his heir just yet. He didn't want to go through the trouble of raising another child.
As soon as Maura placed Jane back on the table to rest after the transfusion, it was only a matter of time until she awoke, until then she had to deal with her father.
"Father…" She was cut off by his raised hand. He looked to his servant who nodded and proceeded to push Vicki through the door in which they came into. Victor now looked back to his daughter and stared her right in the eye.
"I know of the connection you have with this, human. I know that if she dies you will also die one way or the other. Also she is invaluable as a resource to help combat future wolf diseases… So I have come to the decision to protect her and let her live." Maura was no smiling, which was cut short. "But, she is your responsibility and make no mistake when I say if she tells a soul, I will kill her. She isn't the only Rizzoli and there will be more of her, but for the time being she is the only one with the genetic make-up to stop the virus and any future ones." Victor now got up and started for the door.
"Father if I may say something?" Victor stopped and turned to the vampire princess.
"I love her and I want to be with her for the rest of my existence, but I can't if she stays human. In the future, if somehow another with her genes comes along… can I have your permission to turn her?" Victor looked to the floor then back to the woman who now looked more like the little girl he raised than the vampire she became.
He nodded, "If you have proof, then yes I will allow it, but only until then." And with this Victor was gone.
Maura stared at the door, still getting used to the new info her father had given her, she couldn't believe how he reacted. She guessed that it was the fact he mellowed with age. As she pondered this she heard Jane's heart rate pick up and she was over by her side in milliseconds. Maura took Jane's hand and squeezed hoping Jane would wake up.
Jane's first thought as she came too was that she felt like she had been hit by a truck, everything hurt as she gradually opened her eyes, she saw the most beautiful thing in the world. She lifted her hand and cupped Maura's tear stained cheek and caressed the cool skin underneath it.
"Hey, so what did I miss?" Maura laughed at Jane's words and buried her head into the dark curls of her lover. "Hey, Hey I'm alright what happened?"
Maura lifted her head and smiled, "you saved my life Jane Rizzoli and everything is okay." Jane smiled back and leaned up to place her lips onto the vampires, on instinct Maura's fangs popped down and Jane laughed into the kiss.
"Hmmm… someone hungry." Maura blushed and covered her mouth with her hand.
"I'm sorry; it's been a long day." Maura pulled back a bit but Jane stopped her, taking her hand away from her mouth so she could see the razor sharp teeth.
"I already told you, I love you, all of you and that means…" Jane took Maura's chin in her hand and caressed her top lip with her thumb. "…These too, so why don't we get out of here huh?" Maura nodded and helped Jane get off the table and stand. She wobbled a bit and used Maura for balance. Jane then looked around her and remembered where she was, she looked to her right and saw a headless Ian on the floor and next to the bed a full blood bag with her blood. Maura followed Jane's line of sight.
"Jane, I'm sorry but my father wouldn't allow all of your blood to be transfused back to you, he needed some for tests." Maura looked for signs of anger but only saw a smirk. "What's so funny?"
"Well my ma always said I Should donate blood, but I don't think she had this in mind." Both of the women laughed as they left the lab. As they left the building all together Jane just realised a few things she might have missed.
"Hang on, where's Vicki? And why aren't I dead yet?" Maura looked at Jane and smiled.
"Well, you see…" Maura explained all the conditions to Jane as they went home to Jane's apartment as Maura finished Jane shook her head.
"So basically, I'm your bitch." Maura laughed at Jane's use of words.
"Well… basically…yeah" with that Jane slapped Maura on the arm and figured that together they were invincible, even when it came to Vampire Kings and Evil Ex's.
