Chapter 12 Battle Tactics (Steve POV)
After listening to Feleia's story about Magmus Jr., I was relieved in the fact that she knew what she was doing when it came to fights. She just needed a few strategy tips to help her win the battle faster.
"First, the most important part of battling is focus," I started to explain. "You need to keep your eyes on the opponent as much as possible. Of course, there could be something in the distance keeping its eyes on you, but it can't be considered a threat until it starts attacking you. Then, when you're battling, you need to be comprehensive. Watch the patterns of your opponents, and try to predict what they will be doing next. Once you have them locked in, you can go in for the victory, catching them while they are in the middle of a move. Of course, with your size eventually becoming huge, some of this stuff won't apply to you."
"So, what do I do then?" Feleia asked me. "Obviously I won't be fighting with a sword."
"Well, you do what you did in the Nether," I answered. "Basically, you swoop down and hit them with the underside of your belly. This should deal a good amount of damage and knock them back. If you get the attacker to the edge of the island, you can swoop in and knock them off of it, sending them sprawling into the void. And trust me, there is no way getting out of the void unless Bartimeus is there to save you."
"Also, you have to be careful of bows. There is an enchantment that you can get on a bow called Infinity, where attackers can shoot at you forever with one arrow, until their bow breaks."
"Another good tip is to be aware of your healers. They are on top of the obsidian podiums, and humans can shoot them to get rid of them. Without the healers, you cannot regain health, so you're basically screwed. Hopefully you can protect yourself from the arrow fire. In fact, it may be better to block the hits to your healers than for them to actually blow up. That way you can regain the health you just lost."
"I think I get it," Feleia nodded. "And Papart told me about character and moral on the way back in the nether, so I guess my training is done. I just need to mature and practice, and then I think that I'll go back to the End. Thank you Steve, I've been gracious for you and all your friends' help. It really has made a difference."
"No problem, it was my honor," I smiled. I patted Feleia on the back as she left my house, and I saw her walk to her own pen, where she curled up and went to sleep. I guess she was right; her training was over. Practice makes perfect, though, and Feleia's a good distance away from that. But for now, it was time to wait.
