Authors Note: Hey guys, so it's been about a year since the last update and I'm letting you guys know that school's just been pushing itself into my life more prominently since about last Fall and I will put more time into continuing the story during Summer Break if possible, but among other things...
I have just found out that I have been diagnosed with "Spasmodic Torticollis", and it flares up whenever I get anxious, long story short, it's gonna be, longer updates
I also have been playing some "One Piece Treasure Cruise" and other video games to pass up time instead and let me just say One Piece Treasure Cruise is VERY addictive.
That being said, since it's been so long since I updated the story, I felt it would be a necessity to make these chapters longer than the others.
So I'll be pouring most of my time writing in the Summer and possibly in school so that means that the next updates will be shorter than before, but still long.
And with that being said: Here's chapter 12, also please leave a review, It's always appreciated!
Chapter 12 Contained Crisis
"Ruby's Scythe!" "Do you think she fell?" Weiss asked.
"Fell!?" "Down there," Weiss replied.
"Oh my," Dr. Oobleck said, "of course, of course, of course, of course!"
"What is is?" Blake asked.
"How could I be so stupid!?" Dr. Oobleck shouted.
"Doctor Oobleck what's wrong?" Yang asked.
"Mountain Glenn, yes, an expansion of Vale that was effortlessly destroyed by creatures of Grimm. Possibly home to thousands of people, working people, commuting to the city. The main city developed a subway system to the inner city. Grimm attacks increase! Population now in danger, now desperately searching for shelter, city evacuates into metro tunnels and what do they find!? The south-east quadrant of Vale is known for wild forests and deep caves!" Dr. Oobleck raced out of his mind. "Doc, what are you saying?" Yang asked. Dr. Oobleck grabbed Yang's shoulders, "My dear we're not just looking for an underground crime network! We're looking for an underground Crime network!" Dr. Oobleck stated.
"They've been working in a city, within a city?" Chopper asked.
"No, no. Mountain Glenn was Vale's first serious attempt at expansion. It worked for a short period of time thanks to an aggressive perimeter defense and unique transportation. The city developed an elaborate subway system to carry citizens safely from the new territory into the main kingdom. Sadly, without the many natural barriers Vale had to protect it's borders, Mountain Glenn was doomed from the start, and as the end drew near, the citizens of the territory made one last attempt at survival. They took up shelter beneath the city, in massive caves that they had cleared out for the subway. And they had cut themselves off from the surface," Dr. Oobleck elaborated.
"A-an underground village?" Yang asked.
"I-in a matter speaking, yes. A safe haven. Until... an explosion opened the mouth of another cavern... filled with subterranean Grimm," Dr. Oobleck stated solemnly, "after that... the kingdom officially sealed off the tunnels, creating the worlds largest tomb. If Ruby IS down there...," Dr. Oobleck pulled out his weaponized coffee cup, We must find her," He stated.
"Alright so how do we get down there?" Weiss asked.
"Allow me, Miss Schnee," Robin said. Robin crossed her arms and focused, Cien Fleur: Spider Net!" Suddenly, from the floor of the cavern, a bunch of arms appeared and grabbed one another, eventually forming into a spider web. "Let's go, we wouldn't want to have miss Rose mauled to death now would we?" Robin asked. Weiss, Blake, and Yang all grew goosebumps up their spines at the thought.
"Robin! Don't say such scary things!" Chopper whined.
Robin chuckled as she leaped into the cavern, landing on the linked limbs with a resounding boing. Chopper leaped next, and soon the rest of the gang was on the floor of the cavern.
"So, Robin, you mind telling us how that happened?" Yang asked.
Robin turned and faced Yang, "I suppose that would be just," Robin said. arms sprouted from her body like a flower in bloom, "I've eaten the hana-hana no mi, a form of devil fruit that allows me to bloom body parts like a flower, and it allows me to bloom them on any surface I please and more than 1 body part at a time." an arm then sprouted on Yang's shoulder as it tapped her. Yang turned to look at it, but it had already disappeared into a flower petal before she could get a glimpse of it. Weiss, Blake, and Chopper all giggled at the confused Yang and Robin's trick. "Ladies, Reindeer, I believe we should focus on rescuing our team leader do you not?" Dr. Oobleck stated.
"R-right, let's find her!" Yang said. "But where do we look?" Blake asked. Chopper looked to Ruby's scythe and got an idea. "Hey, Yang, let me see that scythe," Chopper asked. Yang paused in confusion and looked at Chopper nervously. "W-why?"" she asked. "If Ruby uses that scythe, then I can get her scent and find her!" Chopper replied. "Alright," Yang said as she handed off Crescent Rose to Chopper.
Chopper began by taking several whiffs of the weapon before turning and sniffing the ground slowly walking forward. the team following him minutes later. soon enough, Chopper spotted a girl clad in red and a man with a bowler hat and cane.
"Ruby!" Chopper cried as he made a b-line for the young Huntress. Roman had finally had enough of her and took aim, Chopper immediately moving as fast as possible to defend Ruby. Chopper leaped over the girl.
"Guard Point!" Choppers body instantly erupted with fur like a piece of popcorn, defending Ruby from the oncoming bullets. The gunfire soon ended and Chopper transformed back to normal and stood in front of Ruby with confidence. The rest of Ruby's team soon came to her side as Yang handed her Crescent Rose. Roman bent his cane in anger.
"Attach this car, and spread the word. We're starting the train," Roman said. "But we're not finished- Roman pinned the guard to the wall, "do it, or you're finished," he demanded.
"Ruby!" Yang yelled as she embraced her younger sister. "Are you okay?" "I'm fine, I'm fine! But listen, Torchwicks got all sorts of weapons and robots down there; Androids, mechs, they're all loaded up on the train cars," Ruby stated. "Ah, that's ridiculous! These tunnels are sealed the tracks lead to a dead end," Dr. Oobleck stated. Seconds later a microphone echoed out around the cavern with Roman on the other end of it, "get to your places, we are leaving now!" He said as the train began taking off on the subway. "Well it sounds like they're going somewhere," Yang said.
"We need backup!" Ruby stated as she pulled up her scroll immediately dialing up Jaune, however the signal was not strong enough and the call failed. "I can't get through!" "Well then, I only see one option here," Robin said as she crossed her arms. "I believe it's the only option there is miss Robin," Dr. Oobleck replied. "We're stopping that train," Ruby stated as she held Crescent rose up. The group then made their way onto the roof of the moving locomotive.
"We must hurry to the front of the train and stop it!" Dr. Oobleck stated. "Uh professor." "Doctor." "What's that?" The group inspected the object inside of the hatch, eyes and minds both boggled.
"It would seem to be some form of bomb wouldn't you agree doctor?" Robin said.
"Most certainly miss Robin," he replied.
The rest of the group shifted back upon hearing these words. "Waaagh! More people up ahead!" Chopper exclaimed. The White Fang members were getting on top of the train cars and approaching the stowaways.
"Well I didn't expect them to go..." the bomb activated as it began flashing red, "... easy on us," Dr. Oobleck stated. "Time to go!" "Blake! Detach the caboose! It will kill us all!"
Blake approached the cable and raised her weapon. But before she cut it, the train car decoupled itself. "It decoupled itself" she said. "I guess he really doesn't want us on this train," Yang replied. The decoupled train car soon flew off the rails and exploded. "Oh dear," Robin stated.
"This is bad! Ruby said as she uncovered another bomb inside of the next train car. Dr. Oobleck moved on to the next train car and uncovered the roof to find yet another bomb, "They ALL have bombs!" He said. The group moved on to the next car. "This doesn't make sense!" Yang stated. The group prepared to fight the hostiles approaching, Dr. Oobleck excluded.
Yang punched one member inside the train car shooting a cocky wink a second before the punch. Blake began to slash through the mercenaries. Weiss dashed through the outclassed foes as she left a trail of ice behind her. Ruby propelled herself through them with the momentum of Crescent Rose. Dr. Oobleck looked at the last train car as the bomb within it went off, this time breaking the ceiling and exposing the tunnel to the ground above. Moments later Grimm began to flood into the tunnel and racing after the speeding train.
"Oh... dear..." Dr. Oobleck said, "he's leading Grimm to the city! It's the cars! They detach and explode, creating openings for the Grimm!"
"There's no way that was his plan all along; it's suicide!" Robin stated.
"We have to hurry! You four! Go below and try to stop those bombs!" Dr. Oobleck said. "What about us?" Ruby asked. "We're going to stop this train," he replied. "Yeah, I know. I said that earlier," she replied. Ruby, Dr. Oobleck, Chopper and Zwei made their way up to the front of the train as a Paladin stood ahead of them. "Wow~! That robot looks soo cool~!" Chopper said stargazed.
Dr. Oobleck took a large swig of his thermos and hovered it over Zwei's head. Zwei then jumped as Dr. Oobleck sent him on a path directly towards the Paladin engulfed in a wave of epic and awesome flames. The Paladin stood no chance as it was soon tumbling on the rails below. Dr. Oobleck sprinted towards the Paladin behind Zwei.
"Kung-Fu Point!" Choppers body and head grew larger and his hoofs were stubby. He followed the doctor as he lunged forward towards the Paladin and flipped it to Chopper. Chopper lunged into the air and proceeded to unleash a barrage of karate/martial arts moves, one moment later the Paladin was in shambles as it began crumbling behind the train.
A few more fights with Paladins later and Dr. Oobleck decided that Ruby should go on ahead while he takes care of the rest of the Paladins. "Ruby! You go n ahead! And you two as well!" Dr. Oobleck said. "But-Don't worry Ruby, it's time I teach them a lesson," Dr. Oobleck stated.
The three then started making their way to the front of the train, leaving Zwei and Dr. Oobleck to finish off the enemies. Team RWBY was now re-united with Chopper and Robin. But things did not look well. There was a large steel door ahead, and the train was speeding towards it at breakneck speeds. "My Guard Point won't be able to stop the train at this speed!" Chopper stated. "And I'm afraid I'm not strong enough to do anything either," Robin added. "What do we do?" Yang asked. "We're going to crash! aaghh!" Chopper screamed in panic. Ruby looked to Weiss, and Weiss to Ruby. Weiss then summoned a Glyph which encased everyone in ice. Then the train crashed and everyone blacked out for a few moments.
When everyone came to, they were in the town square and the sirens were blaring out. Moments later the Grimm began to spill out in massive pods out of the hole that the train had created and chaos ensued.
