"Just tell me this: is he hot? Hot with two t's?" Amy swatted her best friend on the arm, although, knowing Melody, she was probably serious. She crinkled her nose as a short laugh came out, even though she tried to stifle it.
"You could say that..." Amy pulled on one of her own shirts for what felt like the first time in forever. She was grateful for her friend dropping off some basic human comforts, even if she didn't have time to catch up this visit ("killer boss riding me for being late so often. Got to work up those overtime week end hours" were her exact words).
"I can't believe you. All these years of setting you up on blind dates, and you didn't like a single bloke. Then you get stranded out in the middle of no where, and get set up with a man when I suspiciously have no way to vet him out. Very suspicious indeed." Melody was nodding her head as if she had stumbled upon a vast conspiracy, leaving Amy to roll her eyes as she balanced on the edge of her bed.
"You better come back soon, or I might miss you too much."
"Promise. Next week. And I want to meet him." Amy brushed off her friends remark with a laugh, but the image of her giving the Doctor the third degree already had her nervous. They said their goodbyes until Melody had to run out the door because she missed 3 calls from her already shot tempered boss.

"What on earth is that?" Amy greeted John as he came into her room. Sure, it wasn't a normal greeting, but it got straight to the point.
The Doctor had tried to walk into the room just as usual as an attempt to pave over what was oh so obviously wrong today. Though his mind wasn't really sure how he would normally walk up because it never bothered making note of it, and it showed. He looked about 4 seconds at a particular ceiling tile, 3 seconds at a square on the floor, and 8 seconds out the window, then brushed his hair from his face in a miserable attempt at being nonchalant. When he finally looked Amy in the eyes, the gape of her mouth made him realize that his ruse was not working, so he gave up and collapsed defeatedly into the chair."What?" He asked coolly, as if he had practiced all morning, even though that wasn't nearly enough. He was trying to play dumb, but still ended up slumping down even further than he already was.
Of course he knew what she was talking about, but he hoped it wouldn't be a very big deal. But he was so very, very wrong.
"On your neck. Is that... Is that a bow tie?" The offending garment was a dark, rich red that was the most out of place thing Amy had ever laid eyes buried his head in his hand. He knew he was making a mistake when he put it on that morning. He didn't even know why he had one. More than one, actually. His one redeeming point was that he never bought one for himself, but even owning one is too much. If he had gotten rid of them, he wouldn't have even had the option this morning. And Amy wouldn't be staring at him incredulously as she was now.
"It's your fault, y'know." His voice was dejected, any hope of it not being noticed had all gone out the window. Amy gasped, mock offended.
"How is that disaster my fault?"The Doctor reached a finger up and peeled down his collar, revealing the the huge blotch of red and purple that marked the hickey she had apparently given him the night before.
"Normal tie didn't prop up my collar enough to cover it." He offered as way of explanation, though it wasn't quite a good enough excuse for his fashion held off a laugh, but couldn't keep the proud smirk off of her face. She made note to pay special attention to that area later on in the day. She knew that hickeys could be extra... Sensitive.
"It suits you" she said doctor didn't know if she was talking about the hickey or the bow tie.
Neither did she.

AN:

Very short chapter. Sorry for making you wait so long. I kept thinking that I would add an author's note on the next chapter I published saying it was on hiatus, but then it was over 4 months and I never posted a new chapter. I should have just posted that it was on hiatus even without a storyline in the chapter. My bad.

So I'm not sure if this will still be on hiatus or not. I'm thinking that now that life is back on track I might get back to updating more regularly, but I'm not sure. So once again, sorry for the wait.

Thank you for the favorites and follows, they were rather motivating! Hope everyone is doing well!
