Chapter 12

They're my family

Kowalski's POV

I don't want to let go of Rico but I know I must we need to tell the others about the misunderstanding. I quickly wipe my eyes and return to the chatter talker to see the damage it has and if it can be repaired. Rico sits down the opposite of me and watches me as I work, usually I would tell him to go do something as he was detracting me, but his presence is what keeps me determined to fix it.

Just as I get into the back of the chatter talker I can hear Marlene coming in with her bowl. I don't look up as fixing the talker is too important to me I need to reunite our family.

"I've only got two fishes." Marlene notes me.

"That's fine you and Rico can have them." I don't even look up at her but I know her face expression would be one of disappointment.

I hear Rico moving towards Marlene's table, I know it's only 6 steps away but I don't like it I feel like I need him right by me so I know he's safe. I look up to see if he's there. What I look up to see is Rico right by me with some fish in his flipper, he pushes it to me.

"Eat"

"I said you can Marlene to have it." Rico shakes his head at me and shows me the other half of the fish.

"Oh you cut it in half for me?" Rico nods his head at me. I take the fish and I can feel my eyes start to water. It's such a silly thing to get upset about but Rico never shares his food that often.

Marlene's POV

Seeing how Kowalski and Rico are acting warms my heart, it truly does. It's so nice to see them finally being brothers specially with their past they deserve some happiness for once.

*CRASH!*

What was that!? I quickly look to the entrance of my cave from where the sound was from. I begin to walk to it but I feel a flipper stopping me I look to the owner and see Kowalski.

"Stay here Marlene" He walks to my entrance and Rico follows.

"Rico stay here too" Kowalski orders as Rico gets closer to the entrance. I could tell Rico wasn't going to but the look on Kowalski's face stops him from walking.

"Please Rico...I don't want to lose you again. But if I need you I'll call." With that Kowalski is gone.

I go towards Rico and join him at the entrance to watch Kowalski. It seems that some zoo keepers by the penguin habitat are the ones causing the noise.

Normal POV

Two zoo keepers are arguing with each other over the noise and what they were doing.

"You idiot! We are suppose to be quiet! And you just go and let the whole zoo know we are here."

"I'm sorry it slipped out of my hands."

"Whatever, lets just do what the boss wants."

"I just don't understand why we can't let Alice know."

"You clearly wasn't listening to the boss. Alice will flip if she finds out! Boss tried to do this years ago and she got it stopped, and back them she was a newbie think of what she can do now."

"Oh...right. Hey look there's two now."

The noise must have disturbed the only two penguins left in the habitat. Straight away the penguins knew something was wrong but they were cornered and didn't have the upper hand.

"I can't get into this stupid dome thing!" The angry one out of the two said has he hit it with his anger. They had some how got the metal of the dome down, but it seems there is two layers to it the dome, the other layer being glass. The angry one gives it one last hit with all his force but he only makes a crack in the glass.

"Well looks like we can't get them"

"Don't be so sure about that, look" The angry male points to the Otter habitat where a Penguin was just standing there watching them in awe.

"Get him!"

Skipper's POV

I don't know who these men are but I'm not letting them get in here...that if they can get in here. I push Private behind me if they do get in I'm planning on fighting till the death before they lay one finger on him. I see their attention have turned to something else which can't be good at all, it seem it Marlene's habitat...no!

I quickly get to a better viewing area to see what has their attention, I just hope it's not what I think it is. Private follows me I can see he's worried and is thinking the same as me.

It looks like both of our worries are right it seems that they have spotted Kowalski. Can't we just have a break of once I've already lost a brother I don't want to lost another, and if I'm truthful I might as well add Private to the list if Kowalski dies...I know his little heart can't take anymore of this.

Private's POV

No! This can't be happening! KOWALSKI! I feel tears begin to fall from my eyes. Why is the world so cruel to us all we do is protect people and do stuff for the greater good. I don't think I can watch this...knowing one of my brothers is dead is bad enough but seeing one die...

Kowalski's POV

It's clear to me they have seen me I just need to get them off my tail...but how? They said something about not letting Alice know...THATS IT! If I just make them follow me I can lead them right into Alice's hands.

Putting my plan into action I jump out of Marlene's habitat and begin to run but I don't get far as one of the men throws a net at me. I look to the two men with fear. I shut my eyes ready for what ever they are going to do, I hear a cage being set up and I tighten my eyes.

Suddenly I hear something being thrown and the sound of glass smashing before I open my eyes I feel myself getting pushed out of the way. I quickly look up and see Rico in my place. The two men didn't seem to care about it and push Rico into the cage.

"RICO!" I shout at the top of my lungs as I struggle to get loose. I look to the ground and see glass everywhere I look to the only thing I can think of that was made out of glass, the dome, it was smashed Rico must have done it.

I continue to struggle wanted to get to Rico but the rope defects me it's too heavy. Just then I feel someone pulling at the rope it's Private he has got some glass from the floor and is cutting me free. Once free Private hugs me so tightly with tears in his eyes I hug him back and tell him I'm okay.

"I thought I was going to lose you." He mutters to me

"I'm fine Private." Private looks to me

"What about Rico" Private turns to the two men who have their brother.

"I don't want to lose him again, Kowalski" New tears fall from his eyes and I hug him tighter.

"Where's Skipper?" Noticing that my older brother is no where to be seen starts to worry me.

But before I could let go of Private and look for him I feel a flipper on my shoulder. The look on Skipper's face scares me, he's looking at the men who have Rico. It's clear very clear that Skipper isn't happy and those two men are going to be in pain very, very soon.

It's very cliche of me to say this but...

If looks could kill, them two men would be beyond dead.

Hi! Here is a very over due update...as always. I really need to get my update into shape!
