Chapter 12 - Morning Surprise
Cody woke up to see that Chris wasn't in his bed. He then leaned over to turn on his light to see a note hanging from it. He grabbed the note after turning on the light and started reading it.
"Went to get some fresh are and possibly some breakfast. Come up when you wake up. - Chris"
After reading it he got up and grabbed his clothes to take a quick shower. All during his shower and as he was getting dressed he kept thinking about what he had said last night in his sleep and how embarrassed he would have been if Chris had heard him. He couldn't believe he had said it. "How could I love Chris? I don't even really know him that well. Maybe I meant it as a friend. I don't know what to think any more. I wonder why I said I love you. Love is a strong word if anything I like him a lot but I don't think its love. It just seems like a really strong emotion for a week of knowing him. Well it doesn't matter he didn't hear it and I can forget about it and move on."
Cody stopped thinking and looked to see the time on the clock. He was shocked to see that he was up at eight o'clock on a Sunday. He had not been up that early since he left Boston and his mom used to wake him and Zack for church. He finished putting on his socks and shoes before heading out the door. He closed the door and headed up to the sky deck because he figured that would be where he would find Chris. Cody reached the sky deck to see Chris sitting at a table eating breakfast with Bailey. He walked towards them and sat at the table with them. Chris and Bailey smiled at him as he looked at each of them. "I was thinking that you wouldn't wake and see that note till twelve or one in the afternoon." Chris said giving a slight laugh. Cody looked at him and gave a slight smile before looking down. "Is something the matter Cody?" Bailey asked looking at him with concern. "No...I'm fine." he replied. "You sure Cody?" Chris asked this time. "Yeah I'm alright. Thanks for the concern but I'm fine." Cody said looking at both of them and then back at the table. "Okay...if you say your fine we believe you." Bailey said as she took a sip of her fruit smoothie. Chris looked at Bailey with a look of concern for their friend, that she returned the look to him. After a few minutes of awkward silence Chris jumped up from the table. "Let's go ashore and look at some of the architecture and artifacts since we didn't get to finish looking around yesterday." Chris said with a smile on his face. "Yeah...sounds like fun. What do you say Cody?" Bailey asked. "Sure." he replied. "For someone who is doing fine you sound like your upset or depressed." Chris said. Cody looked up at him to see Chris giving him a goofy smile that made him laugh. "Now that is much better." Chris said. "Well then let's go Cody we are wasting time with you just sitting there." Bailey said grabbing his arm and picking him up from his seat. They all started walking towards the boat to take them to shore.
As they walked through the streets Bailey and Cody stopped at the door to a museum. "Did you guys want to check out the museum?" Chris asked them. Before they gave him and answer they were on their way into the museum. Chris quickly walked to catch up with them. He walked behind them as they entered the museum and were greeted by the sight of beautiful marble statues. They both walked over to a glass case that had a plague in front of it that read. "Amulet of Aphrodite". Chris looked at the amulet and at Cody and Bailey and how they were fixated on it. Suddenly all of them looked up at the sound of a man running and yelling at them. The man wrapped Cody and Bailey in a big hug. "I knew it was you Cody and Bailey it has been a long time." the man said. "Yes it has been Miloff. Now will you please let us go, you are cutting off my air supply." Cody said. "Oh...of course my friends." he said releasing them from his loving death grip. Chris laughed at the sight of the whole spectacle and how funny it may have seemed to everyone walking by. "So Cody and Bailey I see that your love is still as strong as when I last saw you." Miloff said. "Actually me and Cody broke up last semester." Bailey replied. "O...I am sorry to hear that. I thought you were still together because you were staring at the amulet with each other." he said. "No...we were just remember the little mishap we got into over it when we first came here. But we see everything is going good and that the museum has gotten a lot bigger." Cody responded. "Yes it has gotten a lot bigger and we have found a lot of new artifact to add in our museum all thanks to the help of Miss London Tipton and Mr. Tipton." Miloff said. "That's good...O by the way Miloff this is our friend Chris." Bailey said introducing them. "Any friend of Bailey and Cody is a friend of mine." Miloff replied hugging Chris. "Yeah same here." Chris replied looking over at Cody and Bailey for help to be released from the death grip. "So Miloff what new artifacts have you found I would really love to see them." Cody said. Miloff released Chris and looked at Cody and nodded. Chris looked at Cody and mouthed a very sincere "Thank You". Miloff started walking off with Cody right behind him. "You aren't going with him Bailey?" Chris asked. "Are you?" she asked back. "Ummm...later, I actually wanted to look at this amulet." Chris said. "Why...you are not going to tell us that it is a fake are you?" Bailey asked looking at the amulet with a sad expression. "O no...it is definitely the real amulet. I am just trying to figure why Aphrodite would let it stay in a museum. But then again she does like the attention, so that has to be it." Chris said. "So your cousin left it here for the attention?" Bailey asked. "Yes...and I see you know my family tree." Chris said with a smile. "Well I know she is the daughter of your Uncle Zeus so I figured that makes her your cousin." Bailey said smiling back.
They both laughed for a while until they notice Cody on his way back without Miloff. He walked over to them and then without warning he gave Chris a passionate kiss. Bailey's eyes widened at the sight in front of her. Chris couldn't believe what was happening and stood in shock and surprise. Suddenly Cody separated their lips and looked into Chris's eyes. "I like you Chris and I don't care if you have the same feelings I just had to know what it would feel like to kiss you. Like that girl said it's all about taking chances." Cody said. Then Cody turned and walked out of the museum. Chris and Bailey just stared at each other in shock for a minute. "Did Cody just kiss me?" Chris asked stupidly. "Yeah...ummm...are you okay?" Bailey asked. "Yeah I'm fine...just wasn't expecting that." Chris replied. "Me neither." Bailey said. They stood there for a while when suddenly Chris realized what Cody had said. "Did he say a girl told him to take chances?" Chris asked. "Yeah...I think so." Bailey said. "I thought so." he said. Chris looked at the amulet and then over to a statue on the other side of the room. Chris started to walk over to it with Bailey following close behind. A girl was standing in front of it then turned to look at them. "I should of guessed it was you Aphrodite." Chris said. "O Chris...how are you?" she said with a smile. "You know how I am. Cody just kissed me because some girl told him to take chances." Chris said. "Well he has liked you for a while and I was trying to help him out. For the record I didn't know he was going to kiss you, I thought he would just tell you how he feels about you. Now the Love you Chris from last night was all me and for that I am sorry." she said. "I know it is your job to help with love but Cody wasn't ready to tell Chris how he felt." Bailey said. "O but Bailey he was...I only gave him the confidence but in the end it is all about him. People think I just make people fall in love when all I really do is give them the confidence to love and try to help them get it, without manipulating peoples true feelings. Chris can tell you that that is true." she said. "She is telling the truth Bailey." Chris says looking at Bailey. "So you were just giving him the help to get what he wants?" Bailey asks. "Of course Bailey. I did it to help him not hurt him." Aphrodite says. "Okay well then...Thank You." Bailey says hugging her. Chris looks at them with a smile. Bailey releases her from the hug and then Chris hugs her. "Well as much as I would like to stay I have to go home before my dad gets mad and orders another Pompeii." Aphrodite says with a smile as she walks off.
Chris and Bailey look at each other as they head out of the museum. "So this has been a morning full of adventure and surprises." Bailey says. "Yeah it has been and it's not even over yet." Chris says with a smile. "Well let's go find Cody." Bailey says. Suddenly Chris stops and Bailey stops to look at him. "Are you okay?" she asks. "Yeah im fine." he says. "But...I kind of want to kiss Cody again."
