Yay, another chapter! A week isn't too bad for an update is it? Well anyways here is chapter 12. I hope you all enjoy it because I had fun writing it;) I'm hoping to start updating faster, hopefully taking a break from school so I have more free time. Oh and sorry if it seems like a rushing through Maura's pregnancy, I just feel that we went through that with Lucas but I skipped his first year so I want to mostly skip the pregnancy for this one and focus more on that. Let me know what you all think after you read this chapter, it makes my day and helps me better this story. As always enjoy you lovely readers!

"Maura! Maura honey I'm here!" I vaguely make out the sound of my wife's voice as I slip in and out of consciousness. She sounds panicked but I have no idea why. And why does her voice sound so far away? I try to open my eyes to see where she is but I can't, which really starts to worry me. Why can't I open my eyes? Why can't I move altogether? Something's wrong, why is there an intense pain in my leg? Jane, I need Jane.

"Ma'am, I'm going to need you go to the waiting room, you can't go past this point." I hear a man say, followed by Jane yelling.

"No god dammit! That's my wife and she's hurt, I need to be with her." She says, and she sounds so distraught and desperate. Wait, hurt, why am I hurt? Suddenly I feel a shooting pain in my leg and manage to moan out in pain. Jane must have heard me.

"Maura!" I hear her yell, followed by a grunt and slapping sound, almost as if someone fell onto the linoleum floor. Suddenly I feel soft hands on my face and I manage to open my eyes briefly, immediately closing them at the intense brightness they encounter.

"Ma'am I ask that you take your leave before I call security." I hear a woman say on the other side of me.

"I'm the police. I'd like to see you get rid of me. And this is Maura Isles, the Chief Medical Examiner of the Commonwealth. She's about 6 months pregnant with our baby. You get her in and taken care of immediately and I will be right there beside her." Jane says, a strong finality to her voice.

"It's fine Patricia, let her through. We need to get this woman examined immediately." I hear the same man's voice again. I can feel us start moving again as pain shoots through my leg once more.

"Maura baby I'm right here. We're going to get you all fixed up okay." Is the last thing I hear before everything goes quiet.

Earlier in the day

"Jane I'm headed to the store, do you need anything?" I call out in the hopes that Jane will hear me. I hate going shopping without her but she claims that she has a ton of paperwork to get done because she put it off for too long. I personally think that she is using this as an excuse because she hates going shopping, but there isn't anything I can do to change her mind. At least I won't have to take Lucas with me, seeing as he's with Angela right now having a grand-babies sleepover with him and TJ.

"What?" I hear Jane ask, poking her head around the corner of the hallway. I smile at her before answering her. "I'm just about to leave for the store. Is there anything that you need?" I ask her sweetly while I grab my purse and keys. She walks up to me and buries her face in my neck while wrapping her arms around me.

"How about some more KY jelly? Ooh how about some nipple clamps! You haven't let me try those on you yet." Jane husks excitedly into my ear, causing a shiver to run down my spine.

"Absolutely not!" I say after a beat, my voice going up several octaves. "Not only am I heading to the grocery store, not the adult store, but my nipples are so sensitive right now, I think the nipple clamps would make my cry." I say to her, reaching my hands up to protectively rest over my breasts. Jane starts chuckling at me so I reach over and pinch her arm.

"Ow!" She whines and starts to rub the spot. "I was only kidding Maur, I know how sensitive your nipples are, seeing as you won't let me touch them." She says this last part with a pout.

"Let's see you with super sensitive nipples while I pinch and pull and see how you fair." I challenge her and she looks at me sheepishly. "Okay fine." She says before pulling me to her.

"I don't need anything, I'm fine. You just get what you think we need. And I'm sorry I can't come with you but I'm slammed with paperwork. Cav is up my ass to get it done or he'll stick me with desk duty until I get it finished so..." She says, reaching up to tuck some hair behind my ear.

"That's fine Jane, I'll go alone. I shouldn't be gone too long, my list is rather short. Then when I get back we can make dinner and relax, just the two of us" I say before planting a loving kiss on her lips.

"Sounds good to me babe. I'll make sure I get my paperwork done so we can relax together." She says with a smile. I give her one more kiss before heading out the door to my car.

I wake with a pounding headache, my eyes fluttering again at the bright light that greets me. I groan at the pain and suddenly feel pressure on my arm and cheek.

"Maur, honey, are you okay? How do you feel baby?" I hear Jane ask to my left. I look over and there she is, looking at me with worry etched all over her face. She has bags under her eyes and her hair looks a little tangled. I smile at her beautiful face, and she gives me a small one in return.

"Hey." I say but it comes out more of a whisper. I clear my throat and try again. "What happened?" I ask her, and her small smile fades.

"Well that's what I was hoping you could tell me. I got a call from one of the uni's saying that you had been in an accident and were being rushed to the hospital. I came as fast as I could and got here as they were bringing you in." Jane says, sadness and a hint of anger in her tone.

"What happened to me?" I ask, wanting to know the extent of my injuries.

"You broke your right leg and you got a concussion. You have stitches on your head from where you hit it on the steering wheel." Jane says sadly. Suddenly panic overtakes me.

"The baby, what about the baby? Is little Bella okay?" I ask, my heart rate increasing as I try to sit up in my bed. Jane gently pushes me back down, attempting to calm me.

"She's fine Maura, the doctors checked her out while you were out and she's going to be okay. And what do you mean Bella?" Jane asks, suddenly looking very curious. I exhale the breath I had been holding, relief flooding over me at the news that my daughter is okay. I suddenly smile at Jane, feeling much better.

"Well if you don't like it we can choose something else, but I'm rather partial to the name Bella, short for Isabella, and I've actually been calling her that to myself and when you're not around." I say a little sheepishly. Jane looks at me momentarily before breaking out into a rather large smile. She leans in carefully and gives me a sweet kiss.

"I love it Maur. Isabella Rizzoli-Isles." She says proudly and I can't help but smile. I reach out my hand and take her into it, giving a little squeeze. "I have one more suggestion if you don't mind Jane." I say and she looks at me curiously, tilting her head to the side and waiting for me to speak.

"What do you think about giving her your name?" I ask, and she looks at me confused. "I thought you wanted Bella?"

"I do, I want to name her Isabella Jane Rizzoli-Isles." I say and wait for her response. She stays quiet longer than than I would like, and a lone tear makes it way down her face. "It was a dumb idea, I'm sorry I brought it up. We can come up with some-" She cuts me off with another kiss, this one filled with intense love and passion.

She breaks it and smiles down at me with an ear splitting grin. "I love it Maur, so very much. I never imagined naming any of my kids after me, I kinda just assumed if we did that then we would use your name, but now that you've suggested it I can't get it out of my head. I am completely honored that you would want to name her after me. That means more than you can imagine." She says emotionally. I reach up and soothingly wipe the few more tears that have escaped down her face away.

"Of course I would want to name her after you Jane, she's your daughter, and there is no better of a woman that I want to name her after. You're brave, loyal, passionate, gorgeous and so much more. It gives her a great start to a life of looking up to you and being protected and guided by you. This girl is the luckiest in the world to have you as her mother." I say, shedding a few tears of my own.

"She's lucky to have both of us Maur. She'll grow up to be the smartest kid because you are her mother. So we'll have a brave, tough, gorgeous genius for a daughter. We're going to have our hands full." Jane says with a playful smile.

"Oh boy." I say half teasingly. I know she's right, about it all, and I want to be worried but for right now she's still in my womb and she'll be staying that way for a little while longer. We don't have to start worrying just yet. Jane and I sit in silence for a few minutes, just glad to be near each other, but Jane has a far away look on her face. I know she wants me to tell her what happened, but I know that if I do things are going to get ugly. I love Jane to death but she has a very short fuse and a rather large temper. I don't want her doing anything that is going to get her in trouble or worse, hurt.

"Maur, I need you to tell me what happened earlier. I can tell that you're nervous about something and I want you to get it off your chest." Jane says a moment later, breaking the silence with her deep raspy voice. I sigh and take a few deep breaths before responding, explaining to Jane what happened that led to me being in the hospital.

I walk into the grocery store, list clutched firmly in my hand as I grab a cart and set my purse down in it, before making my way into the store. The first item I decide to grab is a bag of dog food for Cooper. I get that loaded under my cart, then notice some treats that I can get him as well. I grab a few and put them in the cart, jumping when I hear my name said right behind me. I turn around and come face to face with Claire Bennett, the woman that has been meddling in my life and messing with my family.

"Hello Maura, you're looking lovely this afternoon." She says sweetly, but even I can tell that it's forced. I give her my version of a fake smile, wondering what she wants from me.

"Hello Claire." I say in return, folding my arms over my chest.

"Shopping for your precious little mutt I see." She says to me, a slight bite to her words, indicating that she doesn't like that I'm shopping for the animal that I share with my wife and son. I decide that I don't want to play games with her, I just want to get to the point.

"What do you want Claire?" I ask, standing a little taller in an attempt to seem intimidating and dominant, but it doesn't seem to work, as Claire just snickers at me.

"Oh please Maura, don't think that you can scare me. I know you remember, you wouldn't hurt a fly. Now your wife on the other hand, she would. And apparently she's dumb enough to try and go after me, which is a bad idea. I really wish that you hadn't encouraged her to do that. You see, I know you're the one who fed her the information about Amelia, and I really wish you hadn't, because now I have to make an example out of you." She says threateningly and I can't help but feel worried.

"What do you mean?" I ask, and cringe at the waver in my voice. Claire catches this and grins deeper.

"Maura, Maura, Maura, you innocent little house wife. You should know that if you fuck with Claire Bennett then bad things happen. This makes me sad too, because I really thought that we could be something again, but it would appear that your wife has too much of a hold on you, and now you have to pay the price. What a shame."

"Answer me Claire! What do you mean I have to pay the price?" I ask, getting aggravated that she won't answer me, and also inwardly panicking because I'm afraid of what she's going to do. She steps closer to me, standing a mere inch from my face and reaches up to touch my cheek. I'm too frozen in shock to move.

"My dear Maura, all I can tell you is that you better watch your back, and pray that nothing really bad happens." She whispers to me before lowering her hand and stepping away. She starts to leave but stops and looks over her shoulder. "Oh and tell Jane I say hi." I watch as she walks away, a confident swag to her step, something I see Jane do, but minus the arrogance. I release the breath I hadn't realized I was holding after she walks out of sight and I can feel my shoulders drop. I really don't need this added stress, and now I have to head home and let Jane know what happened, which will set her off and she'll want to go after Claire, which I will have to talk her down from.

All I wanted to do was get my shopping done, go home and curl up with my wife, but now I have this. Why does everything have to be so complicated? I hurry and finish my shopping and head to the register, paying for my items and quickly head out to the Prius. I load everything up and make my way out of the parking lot. About half way home my phone rings. Looking down I see it's an unrecognized number. Against my better judgement I answer the phone anyway.

"Hello?"

"Hello again Maura." I hear the distinct voice of Claire on the other end. The hair on the back of my neck immediately stands up at her tone. She sounds sickly confident and slightly evil. I try to shake the feeling but it doesn't go away.

"How did you get my number?" I ask and she laughs on the other end.

"I think you have more pressing issues to worry about at the moment Maura."

"What is that supposed to mean?" Now I'm really confused.

"Look in your rear view mirror." She says, and I do just that, just in time to see a giant black SUV come barreling towards me. I feel a sudden crash as they slam into the back of me, my head flying forward and hitting the steering wheel. That is when everything goes black.

"And you know the rest." I say, finishing my recap of what happened to me, or at least the parts that I remember. Jane is seething next to me. Her face is red with anger and she has silent tears running down her face. She has my hands in hers, and she's squeezing them a little too hard. I make a wincing face and she realizes that she's hurting me, letting go of my hands.

"I'm going to kill her. She will seriously regret messing with you." Jane says, anger dripping from her voice. "No Jane, you can't do that. You have a family to think about. One child now and one on the way, not to mention a wife who adores you. If you kill this woman, not only will you hurt me, but you very well could go to jail and not be present for your children who need you. We need to let the law handle this."

"Bullshit Maura!" Jane yells and I jump, which makes her face soften immediately. "Sorry." She says with an apologetic look on her face. "Ugh, I'm just so pissed right now. She hurt you Maura! You could have been killed!" She says before jumping up and starts pacing the room. I sigh as I watch her, not knowing what to say to calm her down.

"Jane, honey, please come back over here and talk to me." I say right before there's a knock at the door and the doctor walks in.

"Hello Mrs. Rizzoli-Isles. How are you feeling?" He asks me, picking my chart up from it's spot at the foot of my bed. "I feel okay. There is a slight pain in my leg, more like an ache and my head hurts, but nothing too extreme." I answer as Jane comes to sit beside me and take my hand.

"Okay, well that's good to hear that its not severe. I'd have to say that you are very lucky, especially with your baby. You don't usually see the baby completely unharmed in these types of situations. Now I want you to take it easy for the next several weeks. You broke the fibula in your right leg and fractured the tibia as well. We've given you a nice cast and I'm going to write you a prescription for some pain meds that won't conflict with your pregnancy. Also I'd like to keep you overnight to be safe because of your concussion. You should be able to go home tomorrow afternoon." He says, setting my chart back down. I nod my head, unable to speak as my emotions flare up. I feel a few hot tears start to fall down my face and Jane gives my hand a reassuring squeeze.

"Thank you doctor. If we have any further questions I'll come find you." Jane says to him and he nods before leaving us alone. Jane directs her attention back to me and gives me a small smile, laced with sadness. I can still see the anger in her eyes, but it's buried down underneath her concern for me.

"Do you want me to have Ma bring Lucas so you can see him?" She asks after a few minutes of silence. I shake my head before she even finishes asking. "No I don't want to worry him. Let him enjoy his time with his Nona and cousin, and when I get home tomorrow I can see him and explain that mommy needs to rest for a little while." I say tiredly, yawning and resting my head back against the bed. Jane reaches up and brushes the hair away from my forehead, leaning up to plant a kiss there.

"Okay baby. I can tell that you're tired so you get some rest and I'll be right here when you wake up." She says with a soft smile. I nod my head before closing my eyes and quickly falling asleep.

Two days later:

"Mommy, are you okay?" Lucas asks, concern evident in his tone. He's standing in front of me in his Spiderman pajama pants, chest and feet bare, as he has just woken up. I'm lying in bed, leg out and on display for my son to see. Jane is downstairs making breakfast so her side of the bed is empty. I gesture for him to take that spot, and when he does I pull him to me for a good morning hug and kiss. He gives me a small smile, but I can tell he's still worried about me. I don't blame him, seeing as I have the cast, as well as a small bandage on my head where I hit it, covering several stitches. Oh and there's a nice large, purple bruise to go with it.

"I'm okay baby, just a little hurt. But don't worry, it will heal and mommy will be all better soon." I say sweetly to him.

"What happened?" He asks, staring at me intently.

"I got in a car accident." I say, and he looks at me curiously.

"I was on my way home from the store and I got hit from behind in the car. I got hurt, but not too bad, and before you know it I'll be all better." I reassure him. What he does next makes my heart melt. He leans in to my stomach and gives it a small kiss and a rub. "You okay baby?" He asks sweetly.

"Baby is okay too buddy. Your little sister is healthy and doing great." I say to him, rubbing his cheek as he rests his head against my belly.

"Love you mommy, love you sissy." He says next and I smile happily, settling back into the bed."You're such a good brother Lucas. Little sister loves you very much and she can't wait to meet you." I say to him and he smiles widely. "We gonna play?" He asks me with an excited look on his face. "When she gets older you guys can play. At first she'll be too small, but after a while you can show her your toys so you both can play and you can teach her things too buddy. You get to show her how things work, because that's what big brothers do." I say to him and he starts bouncing excitedly. "Yay! I'm gonna show her my cars and my action figures. We're gonna play arm!" He say before leaning down to my belly again. He then proceeds to start talking to Bella in hushed whispers, letting her know all the things that they'll get to do together. It is such a wonderful thing to witness. After a bit he decides that he wants to watch cartoons so I reach for the remote to our TV and turn it on for him. He settles back against my belly, watching intently, as I turn my attention back to my book.

This is how Jane finds us roughly twenty minutes later. I'm resting against the pillows, book in one hand, the other rubbing my son's back soothingly, while he watches cartoons quietly with his head still resting against my stomach. I look up as Jane walks in and her face lights up in a gorgeous smile. She has a tray of food in her hand, which she sets on my bedside table before leaning down and giving me a sweet kiss. Next she kisses Lucas on the head and ruffles his hair a little before making her way around to her side and getting under the covers with us.

"You two are so cute." She says before leaning over and grabbing a plate with scrambled eggs, toast and bacon on it, handing it to me before grabbing the other. She also brought up a cup of coffee and orange juice. Lucas pops up in between us and proceeds to help each of us consume our breakfast, our happy little family curled up in bed, just enjoying being together. Right now it's just us, no work or crazy ex's trying to meddle. We'll have time to deal with that later. I'm just glad we can still have moments like this, innocent and happy. I give Jane a kiss on the lips and thank her for breakfast before settling back in and resuming where I left off in my book, happy and content for the time being.

You know what to do...REVIEW! Lol sorry that was corny ;)
