AN: Hopefully my writing has gotten better. I will try to keep the question marks only on the questions. I hope people still read.

Chapter 9

Charlie's P.O.V. ~ Flashback to before Billy told Jacob~

I can't believe it… Bella is actually dead… My daughter, my baby, is gone… Who would do something like this? Even worse is I found the body. That was the worst moment of my life… I couldn't breathe… I wonder how Edward will deal with this when I tell him. The poor kid… He was hell bent on marrying her and I wasn't going to stop him. I could tell Bella was head over heels for this guy... How could I deny her what she wanted? And Jacob… Poor Jacob was head over heels for my Bella. He was absolutely in love with her. How could I tell him? I guess it's time to go over there and break the news… I'll start with Billy… Yeah that's good…

Charlie's P.O.V. ~ Present

I sat there staring at Edward, waiting for him to respond. He looked like a statue, sitting there completely still, not moving, not blinking, it didn't even look like he was breathing! I didn't speak to him. Just letting him process. His family looked devastated. I called Dr. Carlisle and he told me he would come back as soon as he could, which apparently wasn't that long. "Edward…" Carlisle said slowly with obvious sadness in his voice. "Edward honey…. I… Don't know what to say… Just… Please say something?" The last part of Esme's statement came out as more of a question with her concern. It was evident that she didn't think her adopted son would respond anytime soon. He must be barely hanging on. The poor boy... He's not even crying. I could never be that strong… I thought staring at Edward intently. "I…. I can't… I'm sorry…" Edward said quickly and ran out of the room quickly, bounding up the stairs two at a time. I couldn't look at him as he left, too afraid to see my own heart shattering grief echoed into his own expression.

Third Person P.O.V. ~

What Charlie and the Cullen's adopted parents failed to realize as they turned away from their 'grief stricken' son, is that if they had paid more attention to him as he bounded out of the room, they would've seen the hint of a smile spreading across his face.
