Hello everyone! Thank you for your continued support of Ophelia's tale.

Chapter 12: Ophelia

Chrom's had tightly gripped mine; I smiled to myself. Maybe he was literally never going to let go of me again. For some reason, I smiled even harder at the thought. The guests filed out of their seats to congratulate us.

The wedding had felt almost like the fairy-tales that Lissa was always going about. I was pleasantly surprised to find the chapel decorated and the Shepherds waiting for me. I did not expect Chrom to have this surprise up his sleeve. I was taken aback by the formality when Luce appeared at my door, holding a gown. The surprise only increased when I entered the chapel; however, I appreciated Chrom's attention to detail.

"Ophelia!" Lissa cried. She pulled me into a hug. She swung over and pulled Chrom into the embrace as well. "Oh this was so beautiful, I am so happy for you two." Lissa released us and continued to smile. The hint of past tears were on her face, but all she could do was beam at us. I almost felt like crying too. Instead, I pulled my new sister-in-law in another tight embrace, before releasing her. Sumia and Cordelia closely followed Lissa.

"That was a beautiful ceremony," Sumia said, "My flowers predicted a long and happy marriage for you two." Sumia had an arm around Cordelia, who was still emotionally compromised from the ceremony. She smiled and nodded at us, but she was quieted by tears. I hugged the two girls quickly, so Cordelia could regain her composure. Frederick was next. Characteristically stern, he shook my hand and then Chrom's.

"I suppose I have one more person to worry about now." Frederick said. I think he was almost joking; then again, Frederick had no joking bone in his body.

"I guess so Frederick." I laughed, but Frederick only looked troubled at the thought.

"Don't worry Frederick, they've got to go on a honeymoon. You'll get a break for a little bit." Ricken chimed in. Chrom and I exchanged glances. We seemed to be majorly out of the loop when it came to anything to do with weddings.

"We didn't plan a honeymoon, Ricken." Chrom smiled gently.

"There's too much work to be done anyway." I replied. I heard a noise of disgust.

"Ophelia, when will you learn." Maribelle sighed, "The ceremony was elegant, which was a step in the right direction, but I see we have only just begun to change."

"Thanks Maribelle, I think." I shrugged. She sighed and wandered away.

"From my observations this was successful. It produced the intended emotions in the audience." Miriel droned.

"Miriel, we appreciate the sentiment." Chrom shrugged at me.

"I'll have to make not of this for future endeavors of my own…" Miriel pulled out a book and started scribbling in it. Chrom and I exchanged looks.

"Are you in love too, Miriel?" I joked. Her eyes pierced through her lenses. In a plain voice, she replied:

"It would appear." With that, she nodded to us and left. There was little time to be taken aback, Sully and Stahl were next in line. The two were arm in arm and in high spirits.

"Well you did it, Ophelia. I didn't even had to kick Chrom's arse up the aisle." Sully laughed boisterously.

"Yes, congratulations. I can tell you two will be just fine." Stahl added brightly. Before they had even fully moved on, Vaike pushed towards us.

"Would ya look at this! Chrom landed himself a lady before Teach! I figured I'd be the sap to get hitched first." Vaike laughed.

"What? You get married?" Chrom said in disbelief. At this Vaike just laughed harder and slapped Chrom on the shoulder.

"Teach is just kidding! Good luck kids. Come to good ol' Teach if you need any worldly guidance." Vaike replied and walked off, still laughing. Chrom took my hand in his. The warmth from his hand soon spread throughout my whole body. My heart felt lighter than it had in months.

After all the guests had left, we walked together back to the main portion of Ylisse. As we walked, Chrom lead me down a corridor that I rarely entered. I shot a glance at him. He smiled at my confusion. Before he replied, we had already stopped outside of a set of double doors.

"This was my parents' suite. It can be ours now." Chrom said. He opened the doors to reveal and expansive sitting room. The ceiling soared above the tiled floor, making the people inside the room feel miniscule. I slipped out of Chrom's grip to investigate. There was enough wall space to add bookshelves for the multiple tomes I had collected. The wide windows overlooked the most beautiful part of the garden. I was awe; this room would be ours now.

"Ophelia, are you crying?" Chrom's voice was worried. He caught my shoulder. I touched my cheek; it was damp.

"Must be the pregnancy hormones." I muttered; Chrom did not look convinced. "I don't know if I have ever felt as happy as am right now, in this moment." Chrom nuzzled his forehead against mine.

"I don't think I've ever been happier either." Chrom whispered, his voice rippling over my skin.

"It's okay, though, isn't it?" I asked tentatively. Chrom pulled away slightly to gaze into my eyes.

"What do you mean?" Chrom asked. I wiped the tears that were now flowing freely, unhampered by my control. I nuzzled my face into Chrom's neck and breathed in his comforting scent. My voice was slightly muffled when I continued.

"Every time I let my guard down, something goes wrong. But you're here with me, and there is no war. Ylisse is in peace; yet, I feel like it has to bea trick. So can you tell me, is it alright to be happy?"

Chrom's arms pulled me against him, so tight I thought I would dissolve into his warmth. With his cheek resting against mine, he breathed into my ear.

"Yes. Of course it is." Soon after, Chrom had captured my lips in his.

The funny thing was, though, I actually did believe his words.
