AN: So it's midnight and technically the weekend sorry about that but hey update. I'm hoping to update again Sunday like normal. If not then it'll definitely be up Monday night/Tuesday morning because I'll be up all night. Some of it might not make sense so comment and let me know I'll try to fix it or tell you guys. Here you go.
Klaus POV
Elijah and Rebekah were bickering when I heard a car slow by our house and then turn into our driveway. Rebekah and Elijah go silent once they hear it too. They stop at the top of turn around by the stairs. That's when we hear voices.
"He says we need it to be hidden, there's a shed," a familiar voice says.
"I am not driving a stolen car into a shed, this will be fine. They'll just think they ordered pizza or take out," an even more familiar voice replies. Then there's laughing. The three of us glance at each other realizing.
"They probably eat the delivery boy instead," she laughs again. I flash outside. I stop at the drivers door. Through the window I can see Caroline and Bonnie finish up their giggling. I knock on the window. They both slightly jump and turn. Caroline scowls at me and Bonnie looks annoyed.
"You were saying dear?" I say knowing they can hear me. Caroline just shakes her head and opens the door. Bonnie follows suit on her side.
"Come on let's get inside," Caroline pokes me in the side and walks past me. We march up the steps together. Elijah and Rebekah meet us at the entrance as we walk inside.
"Miss Forbes, Miss Bennett my brother has told me what you're willing to do. I thank you," Elijah greets them.
"Uh you're welcome and you can call me Caroline," Caroline replies.
"We're going to try, but it might take time, we can't promise anything, but a chance," Bonnie responds.
"You still don't owe us anything and we may not get along but if there's a chance you can bring my brother back, I'll take it. Thank you," Rebekah says. She looks vulnerable for a moment before she straightens up and crosses her arms in front of her.
"Anyways why are you here? I thought you guys just worked on making Marcel think you mean nothing to my brother and aren't involved with this family," Rebekah points out.
"That's what I was thinking. I thought I told you to stay put sweetheart," I look at Caroline. I place on hand on the stair bannister and lean against it
"We did and I swear I fully intended to actually listen to you for once, but then well…"Caroline trails off.
"Marcel came to visit us," Bonnie finishes for her.
"What did he do?" I hiss gripping the bannister tighter.
"He wanted to know about Caroline's daylight ring, don't worry he doesn't know I made it, he thinks I'm human. But he also came about something powerful Davina sensed enter the city this morning, which Kol thinks might have to do with me. Marcel went to Caroline because Davina could only sense that power not that a vampire entered the city," Bonnie explains.
"He thought Caroline was the source of power and made it seem like she was a vampire, thus making him think Klaus lied to him," Elijah
"What'd you tell him?" Rebekah asks.
"I proved that I was a vampire and then suggested he missed someone new in his city. I think he would've kept questioning me about my ring and the power and whatever else, but one of his guys got a text and they left," Caroline answers.
"He just left?" I ask suspicious.
"Well not before he dropped a little threat," Caroline shrugs. I tighten my hold on the bannister until there's a cracking sound. I look at my hand as I lift it pulling with me a chunk of the bannister.
"Really Niklaus," Elijah scolds. I let it go with a crash against the floor. Caroline and Rebekah both roll their eyes at me. Bonnie just seems annoyed. Footsteps trot their way through the second floor to the top of the stairs.
"What is all the noise down here, god" that annoying voice comes from the top. We all look at Hayley standing there. Hayley is staring at Caroline, looking like she just ate something bad.
"Great the slut is here, wait why is she here?" Caroline turns to me. Right I haven't told her we aren't telling Hayley just yet.
"Oh you haven't heard? I'm pregnant with Klaus' kid," Hayley smirks gesturing to her growing stomach. Obviously she's ok with leaving out our earlier new!" she smacks my arm in realization. s in order to get to Caroline.
"Oh please get over yourself i know you're pregnant, but...Klaus!" she smacks my arm as she realizes.
"You didn't tell her?" Bonnie catches on quickly. Both Bonnie and Caroline are glaring at me, luckily elijah steps in. He gives them a look.
"Hayley knows that there's a chance the child might not be Klaus', but she's not sure who else could be the father," Elijah smoothes over the mixed stories.
"We will talk about this later," Caroline pokes me in the shoulder. Another thing for her to get back at me for, great. Bonnie follows her lead and drops it for now. Hayley looks incredulous and upset that Caroline doesn't freak out.
"Now that we've covered why I'm here, why are you here?" Hayley asks.
"I can't be here to visit New Orleans?" Caroline raises an eyebrow.
"Yeah right. You wouldn't come near Klaus unless you needed something or...aww did Tyler finally dump you?" Hayley grins.
"We've broken up, but you know that don't you. After all I broke up with him for good when he came down here. I heard you had an interesting meeting with him," Caroline shoots back. Hayley's jaw tightens in anger. I step in front of Caroline to stop either one of them jumping the stairs to get at the other.
"Ladies why don't we calm down. Caroline has offered to help me with something and will be in New Orleans for a short time," I answer Hayley. As much as I would like her to stay after marcel is dealt with, I know that she wants to go to college and do other things before she comes back.
"What could she possibly be able to help with, she's a ditz," Hayley sneers. I flash up the stairs stopping right in her face.
"I'd remember you're precarious position if I were you," I whisper.
"Klaus seriously it's fine," Caroline assures.
"Anyways, Bonnie has some more to tell you," she emphasizes Bonnie so i know it's Kol. I turn back around and slowly walk down the stairs.
"Why don't we take this somewhere else?" I suggest. Elijah nods and immediately starts ushering them down the hall. Caroline looks like she's about to stall until Rebekah loops her arm through Caroline's and walks with her. I stop my trek halfway down the stairs. I wait until Caroline is gone and know she's not listening in before I speak. I look over my shoulder at Hayley.
"We have people believing Caroline is nothing to me and my family, it needs to stay that way. Don't do anything stupid, I like her far more than I care about what happens to you, no matter others opinions," I warn. I see Hayley's face change before she hurries back to her room.
Caroline POV
Elijah starts leading us to another room where Bonnie will be able to tell them what Kol has to tell them. He wouldn't even tell us anything in the car. I want to wait so I can maybe talk with Klaus first, but Rebekah loops her arm through mine and takes me along walking behind Bonnie and Elijah. We fall a short ways behind so Bonnie won't be able to make everything out that we say.
"Nik told me that you convinced him that I deserve better," Rebekah says letting go of my arm.
"He already knew it, he was just being his stubborn self and not doing it. You know that better than me," I tell her honestly. As much as I don't get along with her, I'm not going to act like I know Klaus more than her.
"I don't know why or how, but you have this affect on him, one I haven't seen in years. I don't understand whatever it is, but I do know that Nik hates being the one to give in first, so thank you," she gives me a small smile.
"That being said, this doesn't make us best friends. For Nik I won't go out of my way to go at you though, for now. Also if you use him and lead him on like you did in Mystic Falls again you will find out how long it takes for your organs to grow back," she threatens me with a grin.
"Understood and I won't go out of my way either," I respond. It may slightly annoy me, but it's also kind of nice to see Rebekah go all protective sister over Klaus.
"So you don't like Hayley either. Tell me what is it with those clothes she wears? I understand she's a werewolf, but really?" Rebekah asks offended. I let out a genuine laugh.
"You should've seen what she was wearing when I first met her, you would've hated it," I share. I then go on to describe her outfit which leads to all of the horrid things we've seen her wear. When Elijah settles us into a library type room, I realize that dealing with Rebekah won't be too bad.
Klaus POV
When I walk towards one of ELijah's studies that he showed them to I hear laughing. When I enter I see Bonnie, Rebekah and Caroline all sitting on a couch laughing together. Even Elijah has a slightly amused look on his face though he's trying to hide it. I catch Caroline's eye as she's mid-laugh and her grin grows. I settle down in a chair next to Elijah.
"I'm glad to see you getting along," I say.
"I was just sharing a story from our childhood about you and Kol," Rebekah grins. It better not have been the one I'm thinking of. I turn to Elijah and the corners of his lips turn up.
"Rebekah...what story?" I ask fearing the answer.
"Oh just the one with mother's dress, some frogs and a pair of neighbor sisters," Rebekah replies smile growing. I bring my hands to my face in shame. Just as I lift my head up to glare at Rebekah and Elijah, Bonnie pipes up.
"Kol says to tell the story about Rebekah in the pond."
I grin evilly at Rebekah and Elijah starts laughing thinking of the story.
"You wouldn't dare!" Rebekah exclaims.
"Oh but Bekah I thought this was family story time," I say innocently.
"I swear I won't tell them any more embarrassing stories!" Rebekah promises.
"Fine, I won't tell them, yet," I laugh.
"Kol says that 'you're wussing out with age, should've told the story' and something else I won't say," Bonnie shakes her head.
"How is Kol?" Elijah asks and the mood in the room becomes quieter.
"He says that he's dead and all the entertainment he's been getting is from your soap opera lives," Bonnie answers. Elijah smiles.
"I thought he'd be creeping through models lives by now," Rebekah states.
"He says he tried that, but it's not as much fun when you're dead," Bonnie rolls her eyes at that fact.
"He also said he needed to see what you guys did, so if he came back he'd have blackmail and be able to tell you what you did wrong," Bonnie smirks.
"Of course, he could never pass those opportunities up," Elijah responds.
"Since I've been made the Anchor though he's been bugging me constantly because aside from wanting someone to bug who is actually alive, he says he couldn't watch your idiocies," Bonnie informs.
"We've been down here dealing with all of this drama what could we have done?" I ask having no idea what Kol thinks we were doing.
"Both Elijah and you believed that you could father a child, you let non practicing witches blackmail you," Bonnie starts repeating what Kol says, but I cut her off.
"Elijah was determined to save me with the child, you know how he gets," I reason.
"That brings him to his next point, Elijah thought the child would be the key to your salvation when…" Bonnie trails off glaring at the empty space.
"What? What is it?" I ask. Bonnie hesitates.
"He...he says that it's so obvious that the key is 'little Miss Caroline Forbes'," Bonnie looks at Caroline apologetically. Caroline drops her head in her head in her hands and groans.
"You just had to go there Kol," Caroline's voice is muffled until she lifts her head up and glares at Bonnie, "and you! You could've not said it!"
"Sorry. I wasn't going too, but I mean it's not exactly a secret Care," Bonnie assures.
"I'm not his salvation!" Caroline screeches. It gets so silent even Bonnie could hear a in drop outside. A flash of hurt courses through me before I stiffen it. I agree she's not my salvation, but that's because I don't see myself being saved. Is that what she thinks still? She's told me how she feels and I know it's true, but maybe...maybe as much as she has those feelings, she still thinks I'm not worth it. Something inside me changes and my muscles tense.
Caroline seems to realize what she's said and her head turns towards me. Her eyes are wide and pleading, but for what I'm not sure. She must see something in my face because she shakes her head and collects herself.
"That's not what I meant, but can we just get to the point Kol?" Caroline asks her voice quieter than I've heard in awhile.
"He says that Davina is looking for a way to kill Original vampires. Marcel doesn't know about the bloodline. With Davina being so powerful, it may be easier than they think. Luckily the ancestors are pissed at Davina for living and Kol was owed a few favors. Some of them have been messing with her dreams and premonitions leading her away from creating the weapon. The problem is that they tried to earlier and they couldn't. Davina's power is blocking them. Not only does that mean she can find a way to kill Originals, but she's gotten more powerful somehow. She was a timebomb before, but now she has less time and when she explodes it'll be huge. Think nuclear bomb huge." Bonnie relays. We all look at each other. Fuck.
"How do we stop it?" Elijah asks.
"He says this is why he wanted Caroline and me here. He was hoping we'd have more time, but with this happening today we need to work fast. He knows you won't like this Klaus, but Caroline needs to get close to Marcel and soon. I need to befriend Davina, get her on our side, explain what happened to me when I was practicing Expression. Elijah you need to focus on the witches and that fake baby. Rebekah you're on Marcel's men, get close to them, learn everything, you know the drill. Klaus you are going between everything and the wolves," Bonnie passes on Kol's orders.
"When did you become in charge Kol?" I bristle.
"He says since he's dead and he can see everything that you can't," Bonnie answers. I want to argue over following him, but it makes sense. He can tell us everything that happens.
The next 20 minutes are spent arguing and planning. When we finally agree on something we decide that it's enough for now. Rebekah is talking to Bonnie about Kol when Caroline catches my eye. She has an upset look on her face. I stand to go.
"Klaus," she sighs. I freeze. I see Elijah look between us before standing himself. Rebekah and Bonnie follow.
"Bonnie you must be starving, allow us to show you the kitchen," Elijah extends an arm each to her and Rebekah. Bonnie looks at Caroline and then takes his arm. Rebekah raises her eyebrow at me as she takes it and the three of them walk out the door. It's quiet for a moment as I move away from the chair I was sitting on. I head towards the window. When I pass by Caroline she stands and turns towards my back.
"Klaus, what I said. It came out wrong," she begins.
"Are you sure? It seemed like you said exactly what you meant," I respond. She steps forward so she's a foot behind my left shoulder.
"You know what?" her voice stronger, "I did say exactly what I meant."
