Chapter 12: Bonds and Farces
Narrator:" Erza had made it back to the Fairy Tail guild hall with the others silently in toe. Galen had finished picking out the perfect braid for Erza. It was a scarlet colored braid with cake shape beads and had just made his way back to the guild hall with braid in hand."
Author: I know that some of you have probably read this reiterated scene so many times in other Crossovers, but this one will actually have a strong impact on the story and I will depict how the members of Fairy Tail get out of this mess, which was not explained in the cannon.
Galen approached Erza with the braid in hand.
Galen:" I know this may seem strange, but I would like to do this traditionally. As a new padawan, you will were this braid in your hair as a symbol and depiction of your rank."
Erza takes the braid, examines it, and puts it in her hair on the right side. Erza was preoccupied with putting the braid in her hair and thanking her teacher to notice that Natsu took a black request poster from the job board and put it on the table and read the words on the request aloud.
The area around the table where Erza, Galen, Lucy, Grey, Natsu, and Happy was suddenly covered with a vibrate light of rainbow colors that shined from the flyer on the table. The minds of the guild members around the table were taken out of their bodies and implanted in another. Grey Switched with Lucy, Natsu Switched with Happy, and Galen switched with Erza.
Grey/Lucy complained about it being cold, Lucy/Grey complained about her/his chest being heavy and her/his back killing him, Natsu/Happy was perplexed by his new body as he got used to being taller and less hairy, and Happy/Natsu wondered why everyone was suddenly taller than him.
Erza/Galen felt that his body had changed significantly and that he was heavier. He looked down at his hands and saw that they were covered in steel gauntlets and immediately realized that he was in Erza's body, which did not freak him out as much as it did the others.
Galen/Erza also felt her body significantly change and that she was much lighter. She could feel the deep scars and scratches in her skin without touching them. She looked at her hands that she raised to her face: they were bandaged in white cloth and immediately realized she was in Galen's body. While the sudden body change freaked her out a little bit, she was a bit taken aback by the strength she felt in this body she now inhabited: she felt like she could lift the entire guild hall over her head, which perplexed her since Galen was not hulking with huge muscles.
Erza/Galen:" For those of us who haven't already figured it out, we have all switched bodies."
Natsu/Happy, Happy/Natsu, Grey/Lucy, Lucy/Grey:" WWHHHHAAATTT!"
Erza/Galen:" While this is a very unusually circumstance, it is best to calm down and think of a solution, or if the worst is to be realized, we are stuck like this forever, then we should learn to adapt. Panicking will get us nowhere."
Erza was a little impressed by how well Galen was dealing with the situation, but the thought of having to readjust her live as a man was a little scary to her, no offense meant to Galen's body.
The others quieted down, but were still freaking out on the inside. Galen focused himself as he tried to come up with a solution. As he focused himself in Erza's body, he noticed blue lines all around him. Galen had never seen something like this before and gets closer to a blue line in one of the support pillars.
Makarov entered the guild hall as Erza/Galen examined a blue line in one of the support pillars.
Markarov:" The ancient spell has been cast. You kids aren't feeling like yourselves today…. Especially Erz…."
Erza/Galen knocked on the blue line with her/his right gauntleted hand. The blue line that Galen saw was in fact a weak point of the pillar that was highlighted in blue in his sight. The pillar bent inward and fell to the ground in two pieces, bringing the stairs to the upstairs that the pillar had supported come crashing down. Everyone in the guild hall looked to the shattered staircase in mixed expressions: most were of shock from the loud sound and dismay from what Makarov will think of the damage, Erza/Galen's expression was of a comical tear drop on the back of her/his head, and Makarov's expression was dinner plate sized eyes with his mouth dropping in shock and dismay.
If anyone can tell me what ability Galen just used on the pillar I will add your name in the author's notes. I like asking and doing these sorts of things since I like to have some fun with my readers as they enjoy the story.
Erza/Galen:" That's coming out of my pay…" He thought to himself.
Erza/Galen takes a quick and quiet seat at the bar as he tries to clear out his mind and think of a solution to the body switches. Makarov eventually just sighed to himself as he pushed the plans for cleaning that up later to the present situation with the changeling spell.
Makarov explains to the others that since this was an ancient spell that he does not know how to counter or dispel it and that if the spell is not undone in 30 minutes then they would be stuck forever. Soon after the heart shattering news hits them, except for Galen who was too focused on finding his own solution to the problem to take notice, Levy and her team showed up to "save the day".
As the situation becomes more and more dire, the group becomes louder and louder with fear and distraught. While this would break a normal person's concentration, Galen has meditated through more stressful situations than this, but he had to admit they were pretty damn loud for 5 people.
By the time Levy was finished, she had made the mistake of translating it instead of lifting the spell, which sank the hopes of the group even more. Eventually Levy managed to come up with an idea to read the request backwards in hopes of lifting the spell. She read the request backwards has letters from the flyer spiraled into the air in rainbow colors. When it was finished, Grey and Lucy found themselves in their own bodies, but Happy, Natsu, Galen, and Erza were still switched.
But that was not all that the reverse spell did. Everyone else in the guild had also switched bodies with one another and the entire guild hall had devolved into a mad house.
Not even the most calm and patient of Jedi Masters would be able to center themselves in this guild hall and it started to show on Erza/Galen. She/He gritted her/his teeth in anger as veins started to pop out of his head and her/his eyes were half covered and completely white. The madness soon became too much for Galen to take and he snapped.
Erza/Galen:"SHUT UP AND LET ME THINK!" He roared with a Force Scream.
All of the glass bottles and windows in the guild shattered into tiny pieces from the force of Galen's Force Scream. The guild hall instantly became deadly silent as every member in the guild, including Galen/Erza, had fallen to the ground and had a ghost rising from each other their mouths.
Galen finally got some peace and quiet to meditate on his solution on the current problem and after a few hours, he had one.
Erza/Galen:" I do believe I can switch us all back to our original bodies."
If the guild members who were laying on the floor were actually dead then this scene would look like the fastest resurrection ever seen as all of the guild members sprang to their feet and crowded around Erza/Galen in a frenzy of "Me First Me first", " No Me FIRST!"
Erza/Galen:" I CAN ONLY DO IT ONE AT A TIME SO STOP YELLING AT ME AND SIT DOWN!" He shouted at them to get their attention.
As quick as a flash, all of the members of the guild found seats and sat in pairs next to each other and quietly and stilly waited for Galen to do what he can as fear sweat dropped down all of their faces.
Erza/Galen:" Thank you! Now then: Erza, please stand in front of me."
Erza did as he stood in front of her/him. Galen placed both hands on the sides of her head and focused as he cleared his mind and began to pull their minds back into their bodies. Galen was successful in the process and repeated it for the other pairs as he placed one hand over each of their heads, one pair at a time.
When Galen was finally finished, it was already night time and the guild members all went home to get some rest from this adrenaline filled experience: all except for Galen who was so tired, from switching the entire minds of the guild back to their bodies, that he collapsed to the ground and fell asleep when the last guild member left.
Narrator:" While the chapter may be over, what has taken place in it has not finished. Fate has spun a chain between Galen and Erza: a chain that will have benefits and consequences to its use. That part of the story, what the chain is and how it will affect Erza and Galen, is for the next chapter to show."
