Nikita walked into the house at three in the morning to find Michael sat asleep on the chair facing the door. Nikita walked over to Michael and noticed the worried expression across his face. She picked his feet up and spun them onto the couch and covered him in the blanket. Nikita walked over to the kitchen and made a coffee and grabbed her cardigan.
After silently shutting the black door, Nikita walked towards the chairs facing the ocean. The lights Michael had installed when he proposed on the roof were still up and let off a dreamy affect. Nikita sighed and sat down looking at the dark night listening to the waves crashing against the rocks.
"Nikita you are not to go to Cedric and Nora's house again do you understand?" Caroline said shaking.
"I wish I lived with them. I hate it here!" Nikita said storming off to her room.
"NIKITA MEARS GET IN HERE NOW!" Gary shouted.
Nikita walked in to the room where Gary was waiting.
Nikita woke up her breathing heavy, sweat running down her face and chest.
"It was a dream" She told herself.
Nikita walked downstairs to find Michael still asleep. She looked at the clock it was six in the morning. Nikita got Joe a bottle ready and went to get him. When she returned she began feeding him. Nikita looked in the dark haired baby's eyes. They were full of hope and dreams. When he looked up his eyes latched with Nikita's.
"Where have you been?!" Michael said standing tensed.
"I- I. Hold me?" Nikita said tears welling in her eyes.
Michael pulled Nikita up and took the baby off her and put him in the play pen. Michael returned to the kitchen and saw Nikita holding her arms to her chest. He walked towards her and swiftly pulled her into a hug. He held her tight as she shook in his arms. Nikita brought her fist and hit it against Michael's chest.
"Nikita what's up? Baby, what's bothering you? Is it your rib?" Michael asked snaking his hands around her waist.
"I need to phone Ced he knows something about my past" Nikita admitted looking up at Michael.
"Well why don't we call him and meet up together as a family? Because that's what you are Nikita. My family" Michael said forcing Nikita to look him in the eye.
"Babe can we go to bed for an hour?" Nikita asked leaning her head on his chest.
"Yes. I was hoping you would say that" Michael said leading Nikita to the bedroom.
Michael stopped along the way to pick Joe up and the trio went back to bed.
Nikita had stripped off and was just in her boxer shorts like Michael. She had just lifted her arm when she let out a sigh of pain.
"Medication" Michael said throwing the pills at Nikita. She stuck her tongue out before necking them. "You know you're meant to be take them with water"
"Just get into bed" Nikita said kissing Michael.
"NIKITA" Alex shouted banging on the front door.
"Okay they aren't on the back garden" Sean said appearing with leaves and bits of twigs attached to him.
"What happened?" Alex asked.
"I climbed to through the bushes" Sean said simply.
"What about over the gate?" Alex said pointing to the brown fence, before continuing to knock on the door.
Nikita and Michael showed up while Alex was mid yell and Sean was mid leap over the fence.
"What the hell is going on?" Michael asked.
"You didn't text me back I got worried"
"So you broke into my house?"
"Ow" Sean shouted as his face collided with the ground.
Nikita and Joe started laughing while Michael smiled and Alex rolled her eyes.
Michael opened the house and let everyone in. Alex went to get ice for Sean's ankle while Nikita sorted Joe out whilst on the phone to Birkhoff doing a check on Ced.
"Where were you guys before anyway?" Alex asked putting the ice on Sean and watching his voice hitch in his throat.
"We went to look at receptions" Michael said hugging Nikita from behind and gently kissing her ear.
"Well we are here to release your for your date" Alex said.
"Date?" Nikita mimicked
"Ah let's get you dressed" Michael said ushering Nikita upstairs shooting Alex a look.
"So what did you think of the reception? Michael asked as he buttoned his white shirt up.
"I loved it especially the windows" Nikita said standing in front of Michael waiting for her dress to be zipped up.
"Well you would" Michael said kissing the top of Nikita's spine.
The couple headed into the five star restaurant and were waiting to be seated. The room was white and with giant chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and tables dotted around the room. Candle light reflecting off of couples eyes. Nikita and Michael made their way throughout the crowd towards a terrace table overlooking the skyline. The waiter couldn't stop staring at Nikita but all she could do is stare at was Michael.
The couple had just finished eating their meal and were talking about their upcoming wedding when Nikita's phone buzzed. She quickly glanced at it and saw Ced had messaged her.
"Michael he's waiting for us" Nikita stated quickly swigging her red wine.
Michael nodded and got the waiter's attention. The couple left the restaurant and began walking to the cemetery. Nikita was shaking as Michael took her hand and kissed it. He entwined their fingers and held her hand tight.
There's something about cemeteries at night. The way the weeping willow tree gently sways in the cold wind creating distrusting figures. The birds swooping low catching the flies near the lamps lighting the way. The pair saw a dark figure sat on a bench his icy breath escaping into the atmosphere.
"Ced" Michael called.
Ced stood up and walked towards the couple.
"Let's go to our place" Nikita said looking at Michael who nodded.
The trio set off walking Michael walked ahead while Nikita linked arms with Ced.
"Nikki" Sean said as Nikita entered the house with Ced.
"Don't call her that" Michael said frowning.
"So Joe's awake Alex is trying to give him a bottle but he won't settle with any of us" Sean said walking towards said.
"Sean" He said holding out his hand.
"Cedric" The elder man said shaking Sean's hand.
"Thank god. He just won't settle" Alex stated walking in with bits of food in her hair. "Hi I'm Alex I usually look better than this"
Ced kissed her cheek.
"You look beautiful honey. The names Ced" He introduced.
Nikita took Joe from Alex and he instantly settled as she put her finger to his mouth.
"Someone's teething" Nikita said looking at Michael.
"Right… On that note me and spud face are going to head home and leave the screaming baby here" Alex said getting her things.
"She loves me really" Sean said holding the door open.
As they left Michael led Ced to the kitchen, the group sat down. Michael offered Ced a drink and he agreed on Dr Pepper. Michael placed a glass of pop on the counter and two coffees. Nikita slowly pushed hers away which gained her a funny look from Michael.
"Miah, you remember I told you about my son? Macron?" Ced began.
"Yeah he was old enough to be my dad at the time" Nikita said thinking back to her past.
"Well he was. That's what I believe and I think Gary knew it too" Ced explained. "My son and his fiancée had given up their little girl when they were killed. He and your mother knew something bad was happening and wanted their daughter to have the best start in life and not have to worry about Macron's past in gangs. By the time we, me and Nora found out it was too late"
"But why do you think it's her?" Michael interjected.
"The birthmark" Ced simply stated and Nikita glanced away.
"That's not a birthmark Ced" Nikita said tears in her eyes. "It was a burn scar. I had it removed when I was twenty-two" Nikita said lifting her top to the side with Joe still in her arm.
"But Miah… you have to be her" Ced said desperately.
"I'm sorry Ced I'm just another washed up foster kid" Nikita said dryly before walking upstairs with Joe.
Ced shook his head and walked out. Michael stared at Nikita's full coffee cup, perfectly made in the centre of the table but perfectly untouched.
