The Knife Unseen

Chapter 12

"Wounds too deep"

Victor carefully opened his eyes, letting the bright light pry into his consciousness. He stared wide eyed at a sterile white med-bay ceiling, as he tried remembering what had happened.

Slowly sitting up, he winced in pain. Massaging his mandible trying to ease it, he looked around the room. Resting his eyes on a turian with his feet propped on a desk.

"How are you feeling?" Said the turian he had presumed was the doctor.

Looking over to the doctor with irritation, he cleared his throat. "I'm... alright. A little in pain, but."

Sighing, he took his feet off the desk and walked over to Victor's table. "Well, you took a pretty good hit, from what I heard." He said, examining Victor.

"Who hit me?" He said, puzzled.

"You don't remember? You must have gotten hit harder than we thought." He laughed, touching Victor's mandible.

Wincing again in pain, he pulled away cursing the doctor under his breathe. "Who hit me?"

Moving his hand to Victor's face again he lightly touched his face, taking a look before nodding with satisfaction. "The Captain. You don't remember the fight, or fights rather?"

"Some of it, but the rest is a bit foggy." He scowled.

"Well, in case you don't remember me, my name's Gaz, but most of the crew just calls me Doc." He laughed, as he walked back over to his desk. He scanned it for a few minutes, before grabbing a datapad and began writing on it with a stylus.

"Remember? I can't say I remember ever meeting you Doc." He said, trying to pick his memory.

"We did. Shortly after you arrived, you awoke and we had a very short conversation. As soon as you were out I made sure you didn't have any permanent brain damage." He chuckled as he filled out his papers, occasionally looking up from them at Victor.

"Ah, I see. Sorry, I don't remember our first introduction."

"It's okay, I'm used to it." He laughed trying to make it seem like he wasn't bothered by it.

"Yeah. Anyways, am I allowed to go or is there something you need from me?"

"Yeah, you can go, but the Captain requested to see you as soon as you awoke." He said, making a few final strokes with his stylus on his datapad.

"Ok. Wait, how long have I been out? Should I expect a repeat?" He laughed awkwardly.

"You've been out for maybe... a full day and no I think you'll be okay." He grinned.

"Good." He said, letting his feet hang off the bed he had been in.

"Ah, but I would avoid Shisk. He came in before you got here and he was pretty upset."

Standing up he rotated his arm, wincing in pain he started making his way to the door. "Got it. That I remember, but I have to see the Captain."

The doors quickly opened letting Victor out of the medical bay and out into hallways of the Wyandot. Looking around the hallways, he could find no one but two security officers guarding a door at the end of the hallway. It had peaked his curiosity, but it wasn't anything worth noting in his mind.

Making his way down the hallways, he followed signage posted on the walls for the lift. He couldn't help, but wonder to himself what Rayhel wanted to see him about. He was pretty sure it was about the fight, but a small part of him wanted her to admit to having feelings for him and them making their way to her quarters.

Victor mentally smacked his imagination and tried thinking of not having "relations" with Rayhel. He found it hard at first, but brought himself back to the matter at hand of figuring out what she wanted and what he had to say. He knew he had a few words for her and none of them flattering her fine figure and beautiful green eyes.

"Damn it Victor, stay focused!" He said out-loud trying to calm his recently overactive libido. He had found himself a little puzzled by it. The last time he even thought of Rayhel as a conquest was when he first stepped on the ship, but now he couldn't not admire her.

Victor rounded the corner of the lift, that was being held by a young turian woman that he had been somewhat familiar with. "Arie?" Asked Victor, somewhat surprised.

"Hi Victor." She replied a little unsure of whether or not she could use his name.

"Hey." He smiled politely at her as he stepped into the lift.

Smiling back she stared at him for a minute, before poking her head out into the hallway. Continuing to hold the lift, she still looked out. Finally letting his curiosity getting him. "You waiting for someone?" He asked.

"Yeah, I'm waiting on the guy that you were with." She replied.

Chuckling for a minute. "Don't bother, I was talking to myself." He said with a little bit of embarrassment.

"Oh." She replied, letting the lift door close. "So, where you going? If I may ask?" She said shyly, as she played with her fingers, smiling.

"Umm, I'm heading to see the Captain in the CIC." He said, pausing for minute. "What about you?"

"Just heading back to my quarters for the night..." She said, looking down at her feet as she shuffled them.

Victor thought he could see something bothering her, but he couldn't really tell. He knew he wasn't a people person, but maybe he had better start being one. "Sorry if I'm wrong about this, because I'm really bad with people. Are you alright? You seem like something is bothering you." He asked.

Sighing in indecision, she looked back up at him. "I... it's nothing. Just something stupid." She said, trying to use a clearly fake smile to throw him.

If there was one thing Victor was good at recognizing was a fake smile, because he was quite familiar with hiding behind one. "What's wrong?"

Shifting her mandible, she took a deep breathe. "I... was wondering if you'd like to get a drink or something with me?"

"Oh. Wow!" He said, stuttering in surprise.

"Sorry! I didn't know if you were interested or not... I'll just..." Her voice was full of enough hurt that even Victor could tell.

"No! It's not that I'm not interested. I just didn't know you were. I mean..."

"I am, but I've been waiting to see if you were." She said avoiding eye contact with him.

"I would have if I would've known. See I'm just bad with people." He mumbled, feeling like an idiot.

"You aren't bad, but you know how to make a girl stress." She laughed lightly.

"Yeah. Sorry. Like I said, I'm just not used to interaction." He looked at her in a different way than he had before. She was quite pretty. Her eyes were a deep blue and she was nothing to be ignored, as far as looks went.

"It's okay. I understand, I think." Her eyes caught his as he looked her over from head to toe. "So would... you be interested in getting a drink or food maybe?"

"Sure, I'd like to." He smiled, trying not to come off as a complete novice.

"Great!" Her voice jumped with excitement. "To the mess hall it is. Wait. Don't you have to go see the Captain?" She said letting her excitement fall.

"Yeah, but I think she can wait." He said as he pushed the control next to Arie, to take the lift to the mess hall.

-17 Years Earlier

"Victor, stay focused! You know better than that." Sven said, smacking the back of Victor's head.

"Sorry, I just..." Victor interrupted by smacking him in the back of the head again.

"Stop making excuses! If you meet somebody that doesn't see eye to eye with you, do you think that they are going to care to hear your crap?"

"No." Replied Victor, fixing his stance on the mat of the recreational area of the small freighter.

"Right. Now again!" Sven ordered, stepping off the mat as a batarian crew member approached with fist drawn.

Taking action quickly, Victor rushed the batarian head first into his stomach. The male batarian coughed for a minute, before grabbing the young turian and throwing him across the mat.

Sliding across the mat, Victor stood back up as quick as possible and taking his stance again. He waited impatiently for the batarian to approach him as he tapped his talons on the mat. Taking the taunt, the batarian moved carefully closer the little turian, finally entering his reach. Without missing a second Victor threw a punch at the man, that was quickly dodged and was reciprocated. Blocking the punch, Victor grabbed his arm and twisted it, bringing him to his knees.

With arrogance, Victor laughed and let the batarian go. "Very good Victor. That's better." Said Sven, looking unimpressed, but satisfied.

Before Victor could say anything, the batarian bumped into him while leaving the mat, snorting at him. He had grown used to a lot of the crew aboard the Fortune, but some people continued to get under his skin. Always telling himself to let it go, he found it hard to swallow his pride and take such blatant rudeness. He didn't want the rest of the crew to see him as weak or a lesser, Victor worked hard to be seen as any other member of the crew and not one of the kids.

There was two others his age, but they were usually separated. One was some spacer they had picked up off of Omega and he spent most of his time on the lower decks with the engines. The other was a young turian named Ariana, that he had talked to quite. They had a lot in common and she was pretty much the only one aboard that he could talk to his age.

"That will be enough for today, we should be getting close to Omega." Said Sven.

Nodding, Victor watched Sven leave the room and leaving him alone. Taking a deep breathe of relief he walked to a bench and sat. He didn't like the training sessions he got, but it kept him busy and fended off boredom. He never questioned why he had to do it, he just did it. He had been doing it since he could first remember being aboard the ship. Sven treated Victor well and he had a place and a purpose. That was enough for him.

"Hey." A small female voice came from the doorway.

His head snapped to his left, looking for the source of the voice to find Arian. "Hey!" He replied, approaching her.

"How's it going?" She said, rubbing her neck.

"It's going alright. What are you doing down here, if I can ask?"

She sighed, before looking away anxiously. Still rubbing her neck she looked around the room and then back at him. "Well... see. I was wondering if you and I... could possibly. You know? Do something?"

"Oh. Like what?"

"Well, we can go steal some food from the mess and watch a vid in my quarters?"

"Yeah, that would be great!" He chimed.

"Good!" She smiled cheerfully back at him.

"I'll see you...?"

"23:30?"

"Yeah, that will work." He flared his mandibles.

"See you then... then." She paused, then chuckled.

"See you tonight." Victor replied, before watching Arian leave the room.

-17 Years later

Wyandot

"Can I ask, where you came from?" Asked Arie, clearly trying not to ask to much.

"Uhh, well that's a question that has a bit of a long and uninteresting story."

"I'm sure it can't be any more uninteresting than mine." She laughed.

"Ha. Well, umm. My parents died when I was young and I was brought up by some questionable characters to say the least. Eventually I got involved in being a hitman and then I got caught. That's pretty much it. In the none boring version."

"Wow, I'm sorry about your parents."

"Don't be. I didn't really know them well, nor do I remember them." He said, looking down at his plate at the last bit of dextro food on it.

"Still, I'm sorry." She said, grabbing his hand.

Victor looked down at her hand on top of his and then to her. She quickly removed her hand, trying to hide the cyon color of her cheeks.

Victor didn't mean to make her pull away, he just hadn't anyone touch him in a consoling matter. "You were fine, I... just haven't had anyone care and try to be sincere. I guess."

Arie leaned in slowly, letting her lips touch Victor's. Opening his mouth slightly he let her tongue begin to explore his mouth.

Pulling away, Arie blushed cyon and smiled. "Would you want to come back to my quarters?" She asked nervously.

"Yes." Replied Victor.

Both getting up from their chair, left the mess hall and walked down a few hallways to Arie's quarters.

Entering her quarters, Victor pushed her against a wall with his hands on her hips and began kissing her neck with his tongue. Each touch of his tongue against the soft spots between her plating, melted her to his touch. Slowly letting his hands wonder up from her hips, he played with the zipper to her clothing as she began fumbling for the buttons on his shirt.

Each inch the zipper moved on her clothes, his heart began beating faster. He began taking deep breathes of passion, letting her scent fill his nostrils, making him fumble her zipper faster. Tugging on Victor's shirt Arie pulled his shirt off and began unbuttoning his pants as he let her clothes hit the floor. Arie being exposed, pushed Victor off of her and backwards onto the bed. Laying on his back, Arie stood over Victor, taking off his pants releasing his member from its constraints. She smiled lustfuly, as she began straddling him, hovering over his member.

Torturing Victor, she teased the tip, pushing it in lightly. Victor's breathing was heavy as he grabbed her hips, lowering her onto him, making her gasp in discomfort at first. Enjoying the sight of her struggling to deal with his size, he pushed into her slowly, loving each pump. Each pump getting faster, she pushed him down making him stop as she rolled her hips while on top of him. Each movement caused Arie to moan a little, making Victor's body pulse with pleasure as he slightly pushed up into her.

Stopping to take a breath, Arie was pushed underneath of Victor. Kissing her neckline carefully he trailed down her stomach and to her glistening core, letting his tongue carefully caress it. Each movement of his tongue was met with a buck as she tried to make his tongue go deeper. Grabbing her legs, he pushed them open as he positioned himself at the end of the bed. Licking her passionately, he could feel his want for her worsen with each moment.

Not able to control his lust any longer, he moved himself on top of her, guiding his length into her slowly. She gasped a little again, still getting used to his size as he began pumping slowly into her. Each pump making his plating shift all the way, making him harder. Thrusting harder he could feel Arie's chest heave heavily, and his own not far behind. Kissing her, he pushed faster bringing him closer to his climax. Thrusting, Victor could feel Arie's talons dig into him in between his plating, driving him wild. Growling in pleasure he hovered over her neck line, nipping at it playfully. Arie bucked as she intensely climaxed against Victor, making him climax shortly after her, letting his warmth fill her and begin leaking from her.

Breathing heavily, Victor rolled off of her and on to his back next to her. Looking over to Arie, Victor smiled at the sight of her still shuttering with pleasure as she grabbed the sheets underneath her. Smiling he moved himself closer to her and trying to cuddle her, making him feel a little awkward. She reached for him, rolling over on her side and snuggling putting her body against his. Still shuddering, Arie kept her eyes closed as she pushed her head into his chest.

Laying on his back Victor looked up at the ceiling in the dim light of the room, coming from the port window. He took a deep breath and then looked back down at Arie who looked as if she had begun to fall asleep. Figuring she wanted him to stay he stared back up at the ceiling and got comfortable with her, letting his mind wander.

He found himself troubled with thoughts of his past, which had been coming up more recently than ever. Things he hadn't thought about in years were now the topic of conversation. He felt happy about some of it, but the rest was filled with sorrow that he never wished to revisit. Most of it to him was repressed from his mind, thought to have been lost. A small part of him knew he could never escape it. The people he hated, the people he killed, the people he loved. Laural. Arian. Both failed attempts at love as far as he could tell. Not from a lack of trying, but luck had deemed him unfit as it seemed to him.

-17 Years Earlier

"Arian?" Victor called lightly into the dark. Watching the darkness intently, he strained his eyes to see farther into the mess area.

"Hey." Came a soft voice from the darkness. The soft sound still managed to startle Victor.

Taking a breath of relief, from seeing Arian. "Hey, was I early or?"

"No. I... was held up." Victor could barely make out her rubbing her arm lightly.

"Are you okay?"

She pulled her hand away from her arm and snapped back quickly. "Yes." Drawing back, he nodded. "I'm sorry. I'm... fine." She said as her face softened.

"Okay." Victor nodded, even though he didn't believe that she was. He knew something was wrong.

"You want to go get that vid?" She said, flaring her mandibles.

"Yeah. Let's go." He said forcing an ignorant smile.

He hated being out of the know on things. Ever since he was a kid wanted to know everything, not to use them, but just to know. It made him feel better, it gave him an edge in his mind. Not that he was looking for an edge, but rather looking for answers for his concern.

The ships lights had been dimmed per the regulations aboard the ship, giving both Victor and Arian a little stealth. They had both gotten used to sneaking after lights out since they first arrived on the ship. Victor quickly got bored of sitting in his room alone when he first arrived. It gave him to much time to think of his family. He would depress himself to the point of crying and feeling helpless. Every night would end with him hating Sven and wanting to leave. Neither of which he could do anything about. He was never allowed off the ship and when he asked he was told he'd understand eventually.

They moved quickly through the hallways, stopping to check around corners and avoid crew. Victor followed Arians lead as they approached the store room, opening the door and entering cautiously. Before closing the door Victor scanned the hallways, making sure they were alone.

"Do you know where it is?" Victor whispered, turning from the door to find Arian gone. "Umm. Arian?" He whispered.

"Up here." Victor looked on top of one of the 5 racks in the room, finding Arian looking through an open crate.

"What are you doing up there?" He asked, looking puzzled.

"The captain hides all the good ones up here. It's a part of his private reserve I guess."

"How do you know that? Why would the captain hoard movies?" He laughed jokingly.

"Because these aren't just any movies." She flared her mandibles defiantly.

"What do you mean?"

"What I mean is that, these are things that help the Captain relax or fill lonely nights." She chuckled.

"Lonely night?" Victor thought for a second. "Oh! Ohhh." He said somewhat awkwardly.

Arian laughed at him before grabbing a card sized disk and making her way down the side of the shelves. Reaching the bottom she held the disk up to Victor, with a turian smirk.

"Got it." She remarked.

"So what did you get?" He asked rubbing the back of his neck, trying to avoid contact with her eyes.

Lowering her brow plate questioning his reaction. "Are you nervous?"

"No." He replied promptly. "It's just, I've never watched a vid like that before." He said trying to avoid looking embarrassed.

"Really? So, you've never... you know?"

"What? Watched a dirty movie with a girl? No, can't say I have." He chuckled lightly, using humor to avoid discomfort.

"Right." She smirked back at him, before giving him a nudge and walking over to the door. She cautiously listened from behind the door, before opening it and gesturing Victor to follow.

The hall was empty except for a crewman turning a corner and walking away from them both unknowingly. Both of them watching the crewman leave their sight, Arian looked back at Victor and smiled with arrogance. She lacked confidence in what she was doing, if anything came along, she handled it. It was more than likely why Victor and Arian got along or because there was lack of other options.

Both of them slipping out of the storage room unseen, they both moved with finesse down the hall hoping for luck to be with them. Arian seemed to let her head swivel all around, as she watched the doorways lining the hallways. She didn't expect to see anyone come out, but she was always cautious. Victor knowing her only for a short time learned about her cautious nature and liked it about her.

"Arian!" If bad luck had a voice, it had rang through the hall causing them both to freeze in place.
