Hey everyone! Sorry for the long wait. I would have updated earlier in the month, but I've been really busy and I also have a case of writer's block. Anyways, I guess this will do for now.

Disclaimer – I do not own Pokémon, sadly.

Enjoy!

Chapter 12 – Plan in Action

May's POV

I sat in class waiting for the bell to go off, signaling the beginning of lunch. I stared anxiously at the clock as my left leg bounced up and down rapidly and repeatedly. I couldn't wait to start the plan. It all starts with setting up the dance at lunch, which is why I'm so eager to get out of class.

Only 30 seconds left...

I looked over at Ursula, Zoey and Gary. Ursula and Zoey were quietly chatting away while Gary had a book standing on the desk in front of him so that the teacher wouldn't see him sleeping. Could he be any more obvious? But at the same time I don't blame him. The four of us had stayed up late last night going over the plan once more. They were going to be helping with the dance set up as well so they needed to know their parts in the plan perfectly.

10 seconds left...

I resisted the urge to squeal in my seat. I couldn't wait to get this started! I know I shouldn't be this excited about a plan that could get me in trouble, but I just couldn't help it. If this plan works then Ash and Dawn will finally be together and all will be well in our circle of friends.

RIIIINNNGGGGG!

I jumped out of my seat and ran across the classroom towards Ursula and Zoey who were currently trying to wake Gary up from his peaceful slumber. They were failing miserably.

I looked at them in amusement as I walked towards Gary and grabbed him by his hair, yanking him up into a sitting position.

"Ow! What the heck is your problem?!" He yelped, looking at me with angry and tired eyes. I glared at him.

"It's time to help set up the dance, remember? I can't have you sleeping through it. Come on, let's go!" I said, giving him a stern look and then walking out of the classroom with Ursula and Zoey following.

I heard Gary groan in annoyance as he got up and walked lazily towards the door and into the hallway where we all waited. I was about to announce that we head to Miss Roxanne's room to meet with the other helpers, but a flash of green caught my eye. I ran towards the flash of green, leaving Ursula, Zoey, and Gary behind to talk.

"Hey Drew!" I said when I reached him. He looked at me and smiled.

"Hey May. What's up?"

"I was just wondering if you wanted to help me, Gary, Ursula, and Zoey set up for the dance." I asked, hoping he would say yes. He didn't have to, but it would be nice to have him there.

He gave me a look before flipping his hair. "Sorry May, but I don't do that." I raised an eyebrow at him.

"Don't do what?" I asked him, confused. What is he talking about?

He chuckled. "Manual labour. I'm not into that kind of stuff."

"Manual labour? It's just putting up a few decorations, Grasshead! Besides, you are apart of this plan. You should be contributing to it." I said, leaning close and pointing a finger at his chest. He looked taken aback for a second before smirking and flipping his hair again.

"I think I'll pass. See ya May." He said, waving and walking away. I tried my best not to call out after him, knowing I'd say something rude.

What is wrong with him? One day he's nice and understanding and the next day he's arrogant and annoying. Sometimes I think he has a split personality or multiple-personality disorder.

I turned around with a huff and walked back over to the others, ready to put this plan into action.

Normal POV

"Paul, get over here!" Paul looked up from his phone at Ursula who was standing by the banner he had just put up. Paul sighed and walked over to her.

"What?" He asked, annoyed. Ursula looked at him in disbelief before pointing at the banner.

"You put the banner up wrong. Now fix it." Ursula said with an exasperated expression on her face. Paul raised an eyebrow, looked up at the banner and then back at Ursula.

"It looks fine to me." Ursula looked at him again in disbelief before pointing to the right side of the banner.

"Can't you see that this side is lower than the left side? We can't have a crooked banner! Now fix it so that it's straight."

He looked over at the peach-haired girl before giving her a smirk. "OCD much?"

Ursula glared at him and put her hands on her hips. "I'll ignore that. Just fix the banner."

He sighed before glaring back. "Why should I? You and May are the ones who dragged me here! I didn't even want to help!"

"Well too bad. You are helping. So please just fix the banner for Arceus sake!" she said, looking defeated.

Paul grunted and finally gave in. He walked over to the stepladder as Ursula watched to make sure he fixed the banner properly.

May watched the duo from the other side of the room before shaking her head. She turned around to grab some more streamers to hang up when she noticed Holly walking towards her.

"Hey Holly! What's up?" May cheerfully asked, waving a hand at the member of the student council.

Holly smiled and stopped a few feet away from May. "I'm just here to bring you what you asked for, for your plan."

It was then May noticed the package in Holly's hands. The brunette smiled and gratefully took the package from the red-head.

"Thank you so much!" Holly smiled back.

"It was no problem. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to head back to the student council office. See you later May!" Holly said as she walked off, waving goodbye.

"Bye Holly!"

May quickly put the package inside of her backpack before turning back towards the streamers that still needed to be hung up. As she went to grab another set, her stomach started to grumble loudly. May blushed and quickly looked around to see if anyone had heard her stomach go off. She sighed in relief when she noticed that everyone was too preoccupied to notice her grumbling stomach.

Knowing that she couldn't survive the rest of the day without food, May grabbed Gary, who was sitting on the bench sleeping, and put him to hang up the streamers while she quickly went to grab something to eat.

"These better be up before I come back!" May said, glaring daggers at Gary. She couldn't have him fall asleep when he was supposed to be helping with the set up. She also couldn't be yelled at for sneaking out and not doing her job, which is why she needed him to replace her.

Gary smirked and saluted, mocking her. "Of course, ma'am! I'll do my best!"

May rolled her eyes and walked off, leaving Gary to continue her job.

Gary's POV

I waited until May was gone before going back to the bench and lying down. I wasn't actually tired anymore, but there was no way I was going to do her work for her! I'm the one who is supposed to get other people to do my work!

I turned to face everyone else when I realized that Paul was here. I guess this was my only chance to make sure I win. I quickly got up and walked over to him.

"Paul!" His head snapped up from his phone in surprise. He quickly put his phone in his pocket before crossing his arms and giving me a glare.

"What do you want, Oak?"

"I've got a proposition for you." He raised an eyebrow at me in question. I sighed. I guess I'm going to have to explain it to him.

"Look, you and I both know that this bet is going nowhere. It's been over 2 weeks and none of us has gotten a date yet." I said, hoping he'll catch on.

"What's your point?" He asked.

"My point is that we should either cancel this bet, or extend it to the end of the dance. It's better than having us both lose." I said, finishing my explanation. Hopefully he'll agree with me.

He was silent for a few moments before finally speaking up. "I guess I see your point. But there's no way I'm cancelling this bet! It's just as bad as losing, and it would be humiliating to lose to you." I smirked.

"So I guess we agree then?"

"I guess so. The bet will be extended until the end of the dance. Deal." He said.

We both shook hands, smirking at each other. Get ready to lose, Paul!

May's POV

I sat in my last class for the day, waiting patiently once again for the school bell to ring. School was ending an hour earlier today because of the dance. The set up had gone great, except for my part. When I got back from eating lunch I realized that I had made the biggest mistake of my life by letting Gary take over my job. He didn't do a thing! I had to quickly put them up myself before Miss Roxanne came in to check what we had done throughout lunch. Luckily for us, everyone finished all of the decorating so we don't have to go back after school.

I took a glance at the clock, reading the time.

2 minutes left...

I was beginning to get anxious again, just like this morning. I couldn't help it! The nerves of this dance and the plan were driving me insane! Everyone is counting on me to make sure our plan succeeds and if it fails, I'm going to be the one to blame.

I shuddered, not wanting to think of the horrible outcome.

1 minute...

I looked over at Zoey, Ursula, and Gary. I smiled at the girls who gave me reassuring smiles back. I then directed my gaze over to Gary and gave him the deadliest glare I have ever given anyone. His face paled for a few seconds before he quickly turned his head away. I stifled a giggle.

30 seconds...

Can't time go any faster?!

10 seconds...

Whoa. Okay then. I didn't mean it literally. Works for me, I guess.

RIIIINNNGGGGG!

I quickly got up and ran out of class, eager for the dance to get underway.

Oh, tonight is going to be a lot of fun.

Wow, that sucked. Like, that really sucked. I'm sorry everyone! I've been having writers block, but I really wanted to update so this is what I was able to write. This chapter would've been longer but I didn't plan for anything else to happen in it. This chapter was kind of just another filler before the dance, but also a bit more relevant.

Anyways, the dance starts in the next chapter. Brace yourselves!

Thanks for reading! See you soon!
