Oh things are getting so exciting. I hope I have you all on your toes with what is happening. :3 My muse is finally starting to get back into the swing of things so lets hope for more updates soon. I love all of you, my beautiful/handsome readers.

Events flashed by in my head. Things that happened yesterday all seemed like a really bad dream, and I had to remind myself that I was on a plane to D.C. on the run from some crazy assholes who were out to get me for a reason I can only assume. The stewardess, walked past me to the front of the plane, where she buckled herself in along with the others. The plane shook as we started to land and I gripped the arm rests tightly. A man next to me looked over from his magazine to assess me.

"You know it's highly improbable that a plane will actually crash." My eyes snapped up to his and I glared. Shrugging the man went back to the article he was reading and I looked back at my knees, taking deep breaths. Closing my eyes I let myself relax until the place landed. Once we were told we could grab our bags and start to exit the plane I stood and left, now glad I didn't have any bags.

Digging my phone out of my pocket I dialed Fury and waited. "What airport are you at?"

"Um…" Looking around I slowly made my way through security and into the waiting area. "The National airport."

"There's a man at the entrance waiting for you. He'll be dressed in a suit and address you as Carly. Do you understand?"

"Yes."

"Good. Don't waste time." He hung up and I put my phone back into my pocket, walking to the exit. I kept my eyes alert as I walked and noticed as two burly men looked over at me and started talking into their phones. Trying to walk faster and keep calm I looked at the men out of the corner of my eye and watched as they started to walk towards me, pushing people out of their way. How did they know I would be here!?

My breath caught in my throat as I started to walk even faster to the exit. Just as I reached the doors I felt a firm hand grab my shoulder and start to pull me towards them. From the exit I saw a man in a suit move towards me quickly and yell, "Carly?" The man grabbing my shoulder faltered and I watched a gun rise up in his other hand.

"Jesus christ help me!" The SHEILD agent who was now in front of me grabbed a gun on his side and was about to point it at the man grabbing me until the cold metal of a barrel pressed against my temple. My back slammed into the chest of the man with the gun and fear started to take over my senses. It felt like time slowed down and the noise of the airport faded into a dull roar. Looking straight at the agent in front of me I closed my eyes and took two deep calming breaths as the men started to argue.

Trying to think I was now pissed I had dumped the gun with my old clothes. As I was thinking I felt the mans grip on my shoulder loosen considerably and reacted immediately. Grabbing the gun I twisted under his arm, hearing his hand break. His scream made other people and security look over as I kicked down on his knee, making it crumple with a snap. Pulling the gun from his hand I heard the crack of three shots and froze as a harsh burning pain welled up in my thigh. Tears rose up into my eyes and I brought the gun up, shooting the other man in the same spot he shot me.

Before he could pull his gun up and shoot me again he got hit by four more shots from the airport security.

"Carly we need to go!" Arms wrapped around my waist to support my weight as the SHEILD agent started to practically carry me out of the airport. One of his hands grabbed the gun from me and soon we were in a black car, driving away. "You've been shot. Are you ok?"

Looking up at him I saw a slick spot on his jacket sleeve. "You're one to talk, you've been shot too."

"I'm trained to deal with this pain, but you're practically a civilian."

"Well for a civilian I sure did deal with myself didn't I." My tone was a little harsh at basically being called fragile and I groaned as my thigh throbbed.

"Don't worry, we aren't far from the extraction point." Nodding I tried to deal with the pain and bleeding in my leg as he continued to drive. "My name is Jameson by the way."

"Lanie Mathews." My voice was a bit of a hiss as I pressed my hand onto my wound.

"I know."

"I figured that." Silence surrounded us as we drove, a lot like the first few times I drove with Phil. After a while I saw a helicopter on the ground in front of us and Jameson slowed to a stop. He stepped out of the car and gestured for me to follow, getting out I limped after him, a jolt of pain going through my leg the whole way. Two men moved onto either side of me and picked me up, carrying me into the helicopter where Fury waited.

"About time you got here." His one eye was emotionless as I got buckled into the seat across from him.

"Sorry. Was busy getting shot." I shrugged like it was no big deal and watched a smirk rise up on Fury's face. Putting on the headset I gripped my seat as we started to take off.

"Afraid of flying?"

"A little bit. I just don't like turbulence… So what was that?"

"I'll debrief you when we get where we're going." Nodding I looked out the open side of the helicopter and watched the quickly darkening ground below me.

"Let me see your phone and credit card." Looking up confused I fished them both out of my pockets and handed them over. Fury pulled a knife from his side and started to cut the credit card apart, tossing the pieces out of the helicopter along with my phone. I winced slightly as I watched it fall but didn't complain. Even I had figured out that was how they followed me.

An hour or so later we were landing in the middle of the mountains, the helicopter completely concealed by the darkness around us. Looking around outside I saw a hidden cave open up and we flew in before landing. A man walked up and unbuckled me before helping me out of my seat. Another came up beside me and helped to pick me up before I was set into a wheelchair.

"What the hell! I'm not a cripple!" I grumbled at Fury who just walked in front of me as someone pushed me from behind.

"No, but you've lost a lot of blood and that bullet is still in your thigh. Take her to the medical wing. I'll join you there in a little while. For now, just don't do anything stupid." Fury walked off in the opposite direction as the person behind me pushed me through some doors. Crossing my arms I looked down at my lap, letting them take me to get the bullet out of my leg.

"Lanie!" I looked up and over my shoulder to see Tony running towards us. "Lanie you're ok! Oh christ was I worried! And they didn't tell me anything until you were already on the helicopter with Fury." Tony shooed the person beside me away and started pushing the wheelchair instead. "So what have they told you so far?"

"Nothing. Fury insisted that I get this bullet out of my thigh first. Said he'd tell me everything later. And by that I assume much later."

"You assume right. Things have been busy here, I'm surprised he went to get you himself. Must have wanted to make sure nothing happened. Just wait until Loki hears about this." I flinched slightly at the thought, remembering the last time he got angry for me. "But it's good that you called so quickly. Because of that Pepper and Jane are already here and safe. So you practically saved them." Tony turned us into a clean white room where some people in white jackets were walking around working. A nurse walked over and very soon I was strapped to an operation table with the left leg of my pants cut off.

"Now please try to stay calm. The painkillers in your leg should already have started working so I need you to just lay back and try to relax. We'll be done soon." The nurse stayed by my head and I closed my eyes tight.

"Just… tell me when you're done." My voice shook slightly and I felt her squeeze my shoulder.

"I will, don't worry." She kept her hand on my shoulder as a heat started to build in my thigh. It tingled slightly but there wasn't anymore pain and I was happy. A metal cling let me know that the bullet was out and I felt more heat in my thigh. Someone wiped away the blood before pressure was applied and they wrapped a bandage around the wound. "There you go sweetie, you're all done." The straps holding me down were undone and I opened my eyes.

"Oh thank god." Letting out a deep sigh I slowly started to sit up. A wave of dizziness hit me and I took some deep breaths to help it pass. With the help of the nurse I was sat back into the wheelchair and wheeled out of the operation room.

Looking around I saw Tony talking with Pepper. She looked at me with him before rushing over. "They just told me what happened. Oh thank god you're ok!"

"Um… yeah. You too. Tony said they picked you up right after learning I was in danger."

"Yeah. I wasn't sure what was really happening but I knew it was important. How are you?"

"A little drained and I can't feel my leg right now but I'm alive. And really that's what counts right?" Pepper nodded and Tony walked up beside her, hugging her from the side.

"We should let you rest. You have a lot to get caught up on." I nodded back at her and the nurse pushed me over to a bed in the corner where she helped me onto it. Laying down I let my head hit the pillow and was out almost immediately.
