A/N: The same anon had one more request: a prompt where she finds out he knew about Sara and questions him if he still has feelings for her sister and asks him if he protected her on TNT Island because despite it all Sara is her sister.
Usual disclaimers are in effect
Enjoy ^_^
Oliver stood in front of his office windows looking out at the city as he heard Felicity yell at someone to stop from going into his office. He turned and was greeted by a manicured hand hitting his cheek. Stunned temporarily, Oliver watched the woman in the business suit close the door and stalk back over to him.
Laurel Lance brought her body right up to his. Her eyes flashed slate blue eyes glared at him. "How could you?"
"I don't know what I did," he confessed quietly. Tears threatened her eyes and he fought the urge to wipe them from her cheek. He saw two blondes standing. Felicity wore an expression of confusion and the one behind her wore one of guilt. Oliver tightened his teeth and then sighed. "I couldn't tell you."
"I saw her at our bakery." Laurel stepped back and poked his chest with her index finger. "You put me through hell for nothing! You lied to me! She was alive and you didn't tell us!"
"Oh, you wanted to know that your sister tortured me and later helped me and a team of rogue spies cleanse the island we stayed on? You want to know that she's got beautiful skills with a knife and knows how to entice the pain from your body? You want to know that I almost died at her hands?!" he shouted at her. The calm façade was gone and Laurel didn't even flinch.
"She wouldn't have gone through hell if you'd never taken her with you! She would still be the girl she was!" Laurel yelled back. Oliver clenched his fists and she continued. "You could have spared her the hell you went through! She didn't need to go through that!"
"How many times do I need to say I'm sorry before you're satisfied?" He backed away from her. He pointed to Sara. "I protected her the best I could!"
"Why didn't you tell me?" Laurel whispered. Oliver gazed at her in amazement. "Do you still have feelings for her?"
Oliver laughed bitterly and ran two hands through his hair. Laurel watched him in the nervous silence and he put both hands on his desk and hung his head. He kept laughing until he was breathless.
"For an incredibly intelligent woman, you can be extremely oblivious," he stated to his desk. "Think about it, Laurel. I was a world away from you. She was my only connection to you. When we lost her on the island, I didn't know what I'd tell you… So, I decided to take the more selfish road. I didn't want you to hurt. I can't bear to see tears on your cheeks, but your hate is something that I know I can live with."
Laurel watched him sit down and pause. She continued to remain silent and they engaged in a stare off. Laurel blinked first and sat in a chair across from his desk.
"… This is the first time you sincerely opened up," Laurel stated quietly. Oliver opened his mouth, but she put up her hand. He didn't say anything. "You and I need to communicate… and she told me about something you should have."
"How does that help?" he asked. She looked at him like she wanted to hit him again. He shrugged. "I don't know what you know."
"She told me you're the Hood. Why?" she pondered. He sat forward in his chair and held out both his hands. She took them. He squeezed them and gave her a shadow of his once mischievous smile.
"I would do anything to protect you… including kill for you. I have a darkness greater than what I'd ever want you to see."
"And when you love someone, you let them shoulder your burden! I'll always be there for you, even if you don't want me to! You and I need to be honest with each other, Ollie. We can't move forward if we're both hesitating on which way we're going to go," Laurel seethed at him. Oliver's face broke out into a grin.
"We should do something about that, then," he stated tenderly. She shook her head at him and laughed.
.
Felicity stood in amazement at the two in the office. She turned to the other blonde. The other woman was wearing a contented grin. "I'm Sara, if you were wondering."
"I hypothesized as much with Laurel stomping into the office," Felicity responded. Sara looked at the two holding hands. Felicity watched Sara's expression turn giddy.
"It's always been those two against the world," she confessed. Felicity nodded.
"She's his biggest strength and most dangerous weakness." Felicity went over to her desk and then looked at the other woman. "You want to get some coffee? We need to talk some tech."
"Laurel always wins him back," Sara whispered to herself. She walked out of the office with Felicity by her side and a bitter happy smile on her lips.
