AN: Okay here's the first chapter of the revision. This has been a long time coming. I have a few more chapters written already that will go up in a little while.
"We've an got armed robbery in progress at a convenience store on the corner of 5th and Van Buren. All available units please respond."
"Car 783 here. ETA 5 minutes."
"This is car 115. We're one block away."
He placed the radio back onto the hook, as his partner took a right turn towards 5th and Van Buren. They pulled up to the store and immediately took defensive positions.
"We've arrived at the scene. Two suspects Caucasian females, mid twenties, one has pink hair and the other purple. both are armed. We're preparing to engage"
"Negative, Logan. Wait for backup."
"Copy. Holding position." They stood in position with their guns drawn and pointed at the entrance of the store.
The pink haired girl glanced over her shoulder and saw the squad car sitting out front. "Fuck! The cops are here!" She stormed over to the other girl making sure to keep her gun pointed at the store clerk.
She watched as 'her partner in crime', at least that was the best way to describe her, walked towards her. "Don't worry there's only one car, Jinx. We can easily make it out the back." She reassured the closest thing she had to a friend.
"Alright. Let's get out of here before anymore show up." Jinx said grabbing her bag of stuff they had grabbed.
"Ok." She grabbed her bag, and they made their way out the back.
Immediately after the two disappeared, the store clerk ran out the front with his hands held high in the air. "Out the back! They went out the back!" The two officers ran over, covered the man and lead him behind the car. Out of the corner of the younger officers eye he saw two people climbing over a fence behind the store into a scrap yard with guns and bags in their hands.
He turned around and lifted his gun. "Freeze!" He yelled. In response the girl with purple hair turned while hanging on the fence and fired two shots in his direction. He instinctively ducked, but the shots were sloppy and missed. She finished climbing the fence and joined her partner on the other side. "JPD! Stop where you are!"
The girl with pink hair smirked, "You're so full of cliches, you know that? How do ya like this one?" Turned her gun on him and pulled the trigger. Automatic weapons fire erupted from the small gun. Both officers dove to cover. Jinx laughed maniacally over the gunfire, "Die! Coppers!" Her laughter continued as the gunfire ceased.
"Let's go!" The purple haired girl yelled while tugging on the others arm.
The other girl's laughter slowly died down. Smirking she said, "I got one." Then she turned and ran into the scrap yard. Her companion stood there for a moment staring past the young officer. He stood and aimed his weapon at her. Before he could say a word he heard moans of pain behind him. He looked over his shoulder. Laying next to the squad car was his partner, clutching his shoulder.
"Grayson!" He turned and ran to his partner's side. "Shit. Shit. Shit." He placed his hand over his partners and applied pressure. "This is Logan, we need an ambulance at 5th and Van Buren. We have an officer down. I repeat. Grayson's been shot."
"Roger that , Logan, ambulance will arrive shortly."
Logan looked down at his partner, "It's gonna be okay, man. They're on the way."
"I know that, Logan. I'm fine. It's just my shoulder. Go after them."
"What? I can't leave you here alone."
"The ambulance and the other squad car will be here soon. Go get that bitch."
Logan nodded and got back up heading for the fence. The purple haired girl was gone. He mentally cursed himself, as he climbed over the fence. He turned his back on her, had turned his back on an armed suspect. He could have been shot. Logan drew his sidearm and scouted the area quickly but carefully. Jogging through the scrap yard was disorienting. There were cars stacked atop one another and piles of jangled scrap metal. The moonlight spread monstrous shadows across the ground. Logan caught sight of one of the two and was almost positive that it was the one who had shot Richard. He took off running after her. He had to catch her, she had shot one of his good friends, his partner. That wasn't even the worst of it. If something happened and Richard died, then she'd be a cop killer and he wasn't about to let one be free, especially if it was Richard.
She turned yet another corner. The place was like a maze. Jinx was nowhere to be seen, and she was starting to get winded. She had to find her way out before the junk yard was surrounded. "Stop!" Her heart stopped before racing again. She pushed herself to go faster. She aimed her gun behind her, but kept it pointed to the ground. The last thing she needed was to shoot a cop.
He saw the gun come out. His first instinct was to shoot her, but she knew how to find the other shooter. Instead of firing his gun he ducked behind a car door with the window punched out. Several gunshots were fired. When the shots subsided he peaked out through the broken window. Once again she was gone, but she couldn't have gotten far and he was determined. Logan continued his search, picking up the pace. He tried to guess which way she went, to get in her head, and think like a criminal on the run, but it was hard. This place was like a maze. There was no rhyme or reason to the organization of the yard. Machines blocked paths, and piles of rusted metal were haphazardly laid about the place. It was so confusing he wasn't really sure where he was going. Hopefully she would be just as lost. A few minutes went by and he was beginning to lose hope when he heard metal tumbling to the ground near by. He smirked and quickly moved around a pile of scrap towards the sound. She appeared round the corner in a sprint. Upon seeing him, her eyes went wide and she stopped almost running into him. Before she could react he had his gun pointed at her head. She looked terrified, and it threw him off guard as he just stared at her in silence. He regained his voice and commanded, "Put the gun down, slowly. Don't even think of anything else cause I promise this time I will shoot back." She nodded and obeyed. "Good. Now you're going to help me find your friend, but first I need you to put your hands on your head and turn around." She looked down, defeated and followed his instructions. Logan grabbed one of her wrist and pulled it behind her back to handcuff it, but before he had a chance, everything went black.
By the time he came to the girl was gone and he was surrounded by other officers and a few paramedics. His friends, Kory Anders and Victor Stone, were there. He groggily sat up and brought his and to his head.
"Whoa, dude don't get up so fast. You took a pretty nasty blow." Victor said putting a hand on Logan's shoulder.
"Ugh. What happened?" Logan shook his attempting to get rid of the ringing within his head.
"You were knocked out by one of the robbers, we tried to stop them, but they got away." Kory stated as her and Victor helped him up.
"Grayson?"
"I'm right here." He walked up with a sling on. "She got me pretty good. Luckily it went straight through."
"Extremely lucky, considering she was using an automatic weapon, Richard." Kory said clearly chastising his aloof attitude to the extreme danger he experienced.
Richard chuckled, "At least I'll be getting that vacation I've been wanting." Kory rolled her eyes, but had a slight hint of a smile.
The two criminals entered their loft above a warehouse. "You know, Raven," Jinx began as she set their bag of money down on a table, "you can't count on me to save your ass every time you meet a cute cop." Her voice was teasing, but had the edge of annoyance.
"I can make it just fine on my own." Raven said taking a seat down on a raggedy old couch.
"Oh really, and where would you be right now if I hadn't come along?" Jinx placed her hands on her hips and stared Raven down.
Raven met her stare with her arms crossed. "I would have gotten free."
Jinx scoffed and threw her arms in the air, "He was putting handcuffs on you!" Jinx paused and got a mischievous smile on her face. "Of course you would have liked that. Wouldn't you?" She smirked, "That was your plan wasn't it?" Jinx sat on the couch facing Raven and resting her arm behind Raven's head. "You were going to let him cuff you. Then once you were at his mercy. You would seduce him." Her voice gradually lowered as she spoke and Jinx leaned closer to Raven with each statement to accentuate her point. "You would let him ravish you and in exchange you would show him the things no civilized woman would know." Jinx was now so close that Raven could feel Jinx's hot breath on her cheek. Raven stared forward with a blank expression. A mixture of disgust and arousal swirled within her, but she wouldn't given in to those emotions. She was in control.
"I'm going to bed." Raven got up briskly and walked up a flight of stairs to her room.
"Have fun!" Jinx called out to her and giggled uncontrollably.
