Tonight, 7pm at Lorenzo's. Wear something nice – Paige.

That girl never failed to surprise her. It had been 2 days since the unforgettable conversation at Paige's house. It felt like a lifetime ago. This whole "we will think about it" façade was becoming unbearable.

It was like being stuck between a rock and a hard place. Still in complete jeopardy. The thought of losing Paige had taken up a huge amount of her brain. She felt like she couldn't function properly. It was quite ironic when you took a step back to analyse. After everything that Emily had been through, with A and everything else, this was the one thing that stopped her functioning. A relationship.

She knew that Paige meant a lot to her, but she never thought that she would meet someone who meant so much that the thought of losing her would mentally paralyse her. It was the one thing she didn't want to think about, yet it was taking up all of her time.

It was quite lucky that Emily hadn't already arranged to go out tonight, since she wasn't big on cancelling things. She knew that she had to find something nice to wear…yeah like that was going to happen with the state of mind that she was in.

Emily picked up her phone and sent a quick text to Hanna.

Shopping trip? – Em.

Emily threw down yet another dress onto the small white chair in the fitting room. She had already had enough, and this was the first shop. It was safe to say that when Hanna hears the words "shopping trip" she does not back down easily. In fact, it's more of a military operation than a rest and relaxation trip.

Hanna came back with two more dresses with that smug look on her face. Emily was secretly praying that the right dress would be one of these two…otherwise she might just quit altogether. There was a mint green pleated dress with thin straps. No…straight away. The other dress didn't look too bad though, it was a wine red and looked to be made of nice material.

"I'll try the red one on, thanks Han."

Her prayers looked to be answered. It was perfect. One of those dresses that when you looked in the mirror, you weren't quite certain that the person looking back at you was your own reflection.

"Wow Em, damn. If I didn't have the hottest guy on the planet as my boyfriend…" She winked.

Emily laughed. For the first time in a long time. It was the first time that she had felt carefree for as long as she could remember.

It was 6:45pm. It was almost time. Why was she so nervous? The unwanted thought that this could be their last proper date made her sick to her stomach. This wasn't fair. The pity party was back. Hadn't she had enough taken away from her? Now Paige?

Her thoughts were interrupted, thank God, by her phone buzzing. It was Spencer, she was outside waiting for her. They had decided that it was probably best for Emily not to drive there since Paige's car would already be at the restaurant so she could take her home.

Emily took one last look in the mirror, the dress fitted perfectly. It hugged her body in all the places that it should. Her hair was in loose curls that had been fastened to one side. Her makeup was minimal yet noticeable. She felt good, in fact, she felt very good.

She slipped on her black stiletto heels and grabbed her purse off the dressing table, then she made her way to the front door. Spencer was in the car waiting for her, and when she spotted her a smile spread across her face.

"Damn girl…you look hot." Spencer said with a sarcastic tone as Emily clambered into the car. Emily shot her a look. "What? I'm being serious, Paige will be more than impressed." She replied, turning the key and starting the car.

There was small-talk during the journey, nothing about A which was a pleasant surprise. It wasn't long before they pulled up outside the restaurant. It was a small, Italian place that had candles on the tables and a fancy menu by the looks of it.

Emily looked at Spencer for reassurance. "Everything will be fine, I don't know why you're so nervous…well apart from obvious reasons. Just treat it as another date, I mean, you two used to go out together all of the time. This is no different." Spencer assured her with a smile.

Emily took a deep breath. Something told her that this was not going to be like any other date, that it may possibly be their last one. Either way, she knew she had to get out of the car.

"Go girl, knock 'em out."

"Thanks Spence, I appreciate you dropping me off." Emily said, grabbing her purse and opening the door.

"Hey no problem, it was either this or watching Orange is the New Black…in fact, I'm pretty shocked I picked you to be honest." She said with a wink.

Emily laugh and got out of the car. As Spencer drove away, she felt a pang of panic. Her safety net was gone now, she had to go in and face what was coming, whether she wanted to or not…
