Author's Note: Soooo, I'm finally back :3 Sorry for almost monthly absence, have a fluffy chapter ;)

Days were passing but the investigation team couldn't move forward in the case despite the newly discovered Yotsuba matter. It was slowly driving L mad. He had no problems with composing his facial expression but his insides were steadily boiling hotter and hotter, almost reaching the limit.

Firstly, he hated being wrong - when it had occurred that Kira would kill the corrupted businessmen he was really pissed off because it hadn't matched any of his hypothesizes.
Secondly, he still didn't know how the hell that serial murderer was able to kill with just a name and a face of a victim and wasn't even a bit closer to figure it out.

Light's name was nearly cleared of all the charges which of course was making him happy but he was starting to feel the irritation as well.
All of his time he was spending in front of the screen waiting impatiently for Watari's reports which unfortunately weren't bringing any useful information.
He almost didn't sleep at all. Barely an hour or two a day and the bags under his eyes had become particularly visible.
Light, for a change, came back to his form and was presenting really good. That was partly because Ryuuzaki would force him to come to bed at 11 p.m. at least and let him sleep until 8 a.m. However, the boy felt awful seeing how hard L was working without any progress.

He came to the conclusion that the third Kira had appeared but wasn't able to find anything more about the human who had been possessed by the Death Note. He wanted to discuss that matter with Ryuk but Shinigami had disappeared somewhere and didn't respond any time the teen tried to call him.
That was rather weird because the Death God had always used to stay close to Light and observe his moves.
Maybe he just got bored?, the teen was wondering. At last I haven't killed since the last month when I decided to eventually give up on being Kira. But still… it's not like him at all. He wouldn't just walk away without even a word, would he…?

That one day Light saw that Ryuuzaki was at the edge of breakdown. His eyes were red, his skin even paler than normally and those horrible bags… all of that was the result of a constant stress and lack of sleep.

'You really need to take one day off, L' the boy said. 'Even someone like you couldn't bear with such a murderous pace of work.'

'I. Am. Just. Fine.' The detective drawled chewing gummy bears and not turning his sight away from the computer screen.

'Yeah, I can see' the boy snorted staring at him with arms crossed on chest. 'Ok, I will say it outright - you look terrible, Ryuuzaki. And you probably lost on weight again. If it's gonna last like that just a little longer you'll finish yourself.'

L ignored him flicking through the tone of documents. It was quite difficult for him to focus his sight properly. He blinked quickly wanting to get rid of the strange feeling, all annoyed.

Suddenly he grasped the edge of a desk. Weird. It was like the room was spinning around. L felt like on a roller coaster. He couldn't keep his balance and fell down on the floor losing the consciousness.

...

The quiet sobbing finally brought him back to reality. He winced touching his forehead and carefully sitting on the bed.

'WhathaveIdone?whathaveIdone?whathaveIdone…?' He turned slowly to the source of whining. Light was huddling on the floor near the bed with his head between the legs and was rocking rhythmically back and forth.

'What is it, Raito-kun? Why are you crying?' He placed his hand on the boy's head and stroked it gently.

'Ryu-Ryuuzaki?' Light drawled through the squeezed throat. 'You're a-awake?'

'Yes, Raito-kun. I feel much better now. But I can't say the same about you. What happened?' He asked softly.

'D-don't d-do that! I-I don't deserve your kindness.' He escaped L's touch and hid his face away from his sight.

'Why are you crying, Raito-kun?' Ryuuzaki repeated the question and squatted to him. 'What is the reason for that?' He asked carefully. Light mumbled something indistinctly. 'A little louder if you please' he added wiping away boy's tears.

'You'll hate me then, L…' the teen was doing his best to calm his shaking shoulders.

'I assure you that such a possibility has zero percent of chance' L murmured to the boy.

'You don't understand, Ryuuzaki. I cannot live tightened in lies anymore. I'm tired of pretending and deceiving. When you fainted… I finally understood that I can't let it last any longer.' He kneeled in front of the detective bending his head in submission. 'I know I have no right to ask for anything… but I have only one wish.' He raised his head taking a look into the big black irises. He barely could see anything through the assembling tears. 'If I am to die then I want you to pull the trigger, Ryuuzaki.' He dropped his head again not being able to look at the older man. 'I… I am Kira.'

Light was afraid of looking up again. He could only be kneeling in front of the detective waiting for a sentence and being scared to death. The salty drops were flowing down his cheeks but he didn't let out any sound. L was standing above him and glaring at this miserable picture of his only friend.

You have always known that, the quiet voice resounded in his mind. Nothing has changed…

He bent to the boy and placed his hands on his neck. Light goggled his eyes in pure fear. Will he suffocate me…? He clenched his teeth and shut his eyes waiting for the painful end.

But instead of being tortured he felt L's strong arms pulling him into a huge embrace and his warm soft lips searching for his own ones and joining them in a desperately passionate kiss.

'How can you kiss the mass murderer?' Light pulled away as the first. 'I am disgusting. I am Kira!'

Ryuuzaki grasped him again stifling boy's words with another hot kiss.

'Silly you' he whispered near his lips. 'Do you really think that your final confession has changed anything? I have always been aware of who you really were. But that's the past now. Raito-kun is not Kira anymore.'

Light clambered up on L's lap and wrapped his arms around his neck and his legs around the waist holding him tightly.

'How could you know that…?' He whispered snuggling his face into the crook of detective's neck.

'I just know' Ryuuzaki was stroking gently teen's back. 'That's what they call "an intuition", am I right?' He kissed the top of the caramel head. 'You are Yagami Light, the most intelligent and intriguing person I have ever met and the one I have fallen in love with.' He grasped boy's face in his hands. 'Kira is the past now.'

'But… what will happen to me now, once you know?' His voice was so weak and filled with fear.

'I won't let anybody hurt you, Light' L pecked boy's forehead. 'After all, we have another trail now. It seems that the third Kira has appeared on the stage.'

The teen hugged him again.

'I do not deserve someone as good as you are, L. I am so hopeless.'

'That is not true and Raito-kun knows about it.' Ryuuzaki was placing butterfly kisses on the boy's neck. 'I expect that you will tell me how you were killing' he said between the kisses. 'But not now, Light' he added quickly preventing the boy from standing up.

His caressing became more daring. Soon his hands slipped under the teen's t-shirt touching his smooth skin. Light hissed feeling L's cold hands on his hot bare stomach.

'Hey, darling…' Ryuuzaki whispered in boy's ear. 'I love you' his fingers were going up and down Light's spine which was making him trembling. 'And I want you…' the detective added quietly.

Light moaned weaving his hands in Ryuuzaki's hair feeling that his boyfriend was standing up, grabbing his hips.

'Ryuuzaki, what are you doing? I am too heavy!' He exclaimed as the detective stood with him as an attachment on his chest.

'I am stronger than I seem to be' L chuckled lying Light on the bed and bending over him. The boy groaned as they kissed again. 'Oh, yes, I love that sweet voice of yours…' L purred gutturally. 'Tonight I'll make you scream my name, Light…'

...

L felt that Light moved slightly. The teen moaned longingly and stretched placing his head on Ryuuzaki's naked chest.

'Good morning' the detective purred stroking Light's head.

'Not that good' the boy hummed hoarsely. 'You made me an invalid again'

'Does Raito-kun regret?' L teased him caressing his back.

'Guess' Light threw in placing his hand on detective's waist and pulling him to a gentle kiss.

'I guess not' Ryuuzaki grasped teen's head in his hands watching closely each detail of Light's beautiful face. They were staring at each other for a while until the rude clobbering on the door interrupted that magical moment.

'L! You gotta be kidding me! It's 10:23 a.m. already!' Watari's voice resounded behind the door. 'Get back to work or I will force you to do so!'

'I would advise you against rushing inside' Ryuuzaki's voice was cold and emotionless. 'You might not like what you would see.'

The older man snapped in irritation being able to imagine what the detective was talking about.

'I'm giving you 10 minutes' Watari hissed and left their apartment.

Ryuuzaki sighed deeply and stood up. He took another white baggy shirt out of the closet and his usual jeans.

'He will never get to accept me' Light murmured suddenly tightening the bathrobe around his waist.

'Watari?' L turned to his lover with clothes in his hands.

'Yeah... He hates me heatedly.' The boy winced squatting to the drawer with his t-shirts. 'Your relations have gotten worse because of me.'

'With all the respect for Watari but I do have the right to spend my time with the one I love. I do have the right to feel' L said being annoyed with the older man. 'He's acting like a child trying to separate me from you. It's meaningless and he knows about it though it doesn't prevent him from trying.' Ryuuzaki headed for the bathroom. 'I do not desert things I once claimed as mine.'

Hearing that Light suddenly stopped in surprise. "Things I once claimed as mine?", he repeated in mind L's words flushing intensively and following the detective with his eyes until he vanished in the bathroom. Light sighed deeply and went to the kitchen with the intend to make himself a coffee. Then he headed for a living room.

'Raito-kun may have his shower now' Ryuuzaki announced the boy who was sitting on a couch and drinking morning beverage a few minutes later. 'I'll be awaiting him to join me in the computer room in 15 minutes time.' He said opening the door with the intend to leave the flat.

'Wait, L. Aren't you going to handcuff us again?' Light shouted after him.

'It's no use in chaining us anymore, Raito-kun' L replied taking a look at the boy. 'You are officially not a suspect anymore.' Saying that he disappeared behind the door.

'I would never think that everything could take such a turn' Light heard hoarse giggling behind his back. 'You are such an amusing human, Light!' Ryuk was cackling.

'What have I done to be that honored to finally see you, Ryuk?' The boy looked at the Shinigami frowning in slight anger. 'You have been ignoring my callings for over a week!' He crossed his arms waiting for an explanation.

'I was busy, you know' the Death God answered simply.

'No, I don't' Light sent him an angry glance. 'What might have you been doing for all this time? I've got some questions that need to be answered.' He snapped.

'Feel free to ask. Maybe I'll answer some of them. Or maybe not.' Ryuk kept on giggling.

'Why are you in such a good mood, Ryuk?' Light shook his head raising a brow. 'I know that cackling is one of your annoying habits but today you're really overdoing.'

'Something is on, Light. But you already know about it. Just keep on doing your research and you and your genius boyfriend will find all the answers' Shinigami winked at him.

'This is not a proper answer, Ryuk' the boy snorted.

'The answer proper to the question' the Death God giggled. 'Start asking right questions, Light.' The teen sighed deeply stifling the arising irritation.

'What do you know about the third Kira?' He finally articulated.

'Rem was a little bored after Misa had resigned from the Death Note...' Ryuk sat on an armchair reaching for an apple that was lying on a plate on a small coffee table.

'So that's her doing?' The boy was pressing.

'Well, yeah, she found someone willing to use the Notebook. The rest you know.' Shinigami bit his sharp teeth into the red fruit. 'Mmm, this is so delicious!'

'So we were right? Someone from The Yotsuba Group possesses the Death Note?' Light felt excitement.

'Indeed, you smart ass' Ryuk giggled hoarsely savoring his apple.

'This evening I'm going to show L how to use this bloody notebook, Ryuk. I expect you'll answer my calling' Light threw in going to the bathroom. Shinigami stood up and parodied the salute.

'Yes, sir!' Cackling Death God vanished in the air.

...

'You look much better, Ryuuzaki' Matsuda sent his smile to the coming detective. 'Want some tea?' He showed him a mug he was holding in an encouraging gesture. 'That's great that Light finally forced you to take some rest. We all were a bit worried seeing your exhaustion.' The policeman, having no reply continued and took a seat next to the detective. L smiled in thoughts thinking about the boy. Yeah, he definitely made him feel better.

'I have the feeling that soon our investigation will move forward.' He said with his usual monotonous tone to the policeman.

'Oh, really? That sounds like great news!' Matsuda cheered up sipping his tea. 'I am already so weary of dealing with Kira case. But 'he held his voice for a moment taking a peek at L 'I am rather glad that I had the opportunity to meet you, Ryuuzaki.'

'Is that so?' The detective asked not turning his sight away from the monitor. 'I didn't hear such words from many people.'

'You're a weirdo, that's true' Mutsuda admitted. 'But you're not that emotionless as we all thought. You are able to show the feelings which makes you one of us, humans' the man smiled widely. 'And all of us would like to be as smart as you are. Even in a half would be great.'

L didn't respond thinking over Matsuda's words. They were… nice. He did not use to hear nice words from others. Before he met Light and discovered his feelings for him, the only person who had ever said something nice about him was Watari himself.
But now they weren't on speaking terms and that made Matsuda's words even nicer.

'Here I am' they heard Light's voice from behind and turned around at once. The teen was wearing his usual black and tight outfit which was making him god damn sexy and L couldn't help but smile with affection at him.

'Did you have a good sleep, Light?' Matsuda asked politely keeping on smiling.

'I couldn't have had any better' he answered the man but was staring at the detective. 'I've got something for you, Ryuuzaki' he took something out of his trousers' pocket and passed it to L smirking by the corner of his mouth.

'Strawberry lollipop?' Ryuuzaki exclaimed cheerfully and pulled the boy to himself thanking him in his own way.
Matsuda discreetly left the room smiling dreamy and thinking how adorable the two of the geniuses looked together.

Light took a seat near his boyfriend catching a breath and massaging his aching back.

'Is it as painful as after the previous time?' L asked with concern seeing the teen's wincing face.

'No… the pain isn't as bad' Light managed to lie not wanting Ryuuzaki to know that in fact he felt as if the millions of needles were sinking into him with every move he made. Making love with L was something Light craved with all his heart but it had its downsides as well. The boy thought that if those side effects had disappeared, his life would have become the real idyll.

'Raito-kun doesn't have to lie' Ryuuzaki murmured licking his lollipop.

'Ok, fine. It's hurting me like bloody hell. Satisfied?' Light snorted crossing his arms and frowning feeling his cheeks burning.

'If it provides Raito-kun more pain than pleasure then we can always prevent ourselves from doing it' L teased huddling on a chair.

Light stood up immediately ignoring the seizing arrow of ache and roughly clambered on detective's lap holding him tightly.

'You won't get rid of me that easily, L' he whispered to his lover's ear. 'I am not made of porcelain, you know.'

'I'm glad that you said it out loud' Ryuuzaki mumbled taking the lollipop out of his mouth and kissing the boy who was sitting on his lap. Light gave in hungrily tasting L's strawberry-flavored lips.

At that time Soichiro rushed into the room and suddenly choked on his own saliva witnessing that scene.

'Sweet Jesus, Light!' He exclaimed after getting his breath back. 'Being aware of your new object of affection is one thing. But seeing it by own eyes is way too much' he said blushing. 'Hold back until you come back to your flat, please. I don't want to watch such displays, for god's sake!'

L gently pulled the annoyed teen away and chuckled seeing his sulky face.

'Your father is right, Raito-kun. We overdid this time.'

The boy collapsed on the armchair nearby sighing deeply.

'Sorry, dad' he murmured flushing and avoiding the man's sight.

Soichiro breathed in and out slowly and then passed the papers to the detective.

'Watari asked me to deliver it to you' he said. 'New reports, as far as I'm concerned.'

'Couldn't he just bring them himself?' Ryuuzaki asked. 'It's so childish. Not like Watari at all.'

'Are you having an argument or so?' Soichiro asked carefully observing L's face.

'Kind of' he answered with a heavy sigh. 'He's rather not pleased with my relationship with Raito-kun.'

'I can understand him a bit' Mr. Yagami drawled by the corner of his mouth.

'Dad, I thought that this matter is already closed' Light surfaced piercing his brown eyes to the man.

'Do not inflame the situation, Raito-kun' Ryuuzaki scolded the boy flicking through the piles. 'The last thing we need is a hot argument with your father. Let's leave the subject as it is so as not to regret afterwards.'

'Very well' Mr. Yagami turned away. 'Have a nice work, boys' he left the room not looking at his son.

'Even if I didn't know you are related I would guess it by now' Ryuuzaki shook his head smiling lightly. 'Two stubborn, hot-headed and always willing to start an argument' he glanced at the teen. 'It's so obvious you two have the same genes.'
