Disclaimer: Sadly, I do not own Stiles, nor do I own any of the Teen Wolf characters.

Summary: Keeping secrets was easy; all you had to do was know how to keep your mouth shut, and how to avoid the subject. Something I was AMAZING at doing at this point in life. But the thing about keeping secrets, no matter how small they are, eventually they always get out. But I was hoping this little secret would never get out, since I was sleeping with my brother's best friend.

Caroline lets out a breathless laugh, her hands tugging at the hem of Stiles' shirt. His thumbs pressing into her hip bones while his lips move down her neck, nipping at her earlobe playfully. She let out a surprised gasp when he held her hips tight, grinding his pelvis into hers, before his lips found their way to her neck.

Caroline hadn't had this kind of alone time with him in so long, their parents were both so suspicious now, always invading their privacy, she needed this so badly. Caroline let out a moan when Stiles's lips dragged across her collarbone, kissing his way down her sternum, his hand sliding up to pull away her bra, his teeth grazing over the sensitive flash and her moan was louder. Stiles shushes her, pulling back some as he laughed, Caroline groaning, trying to pull his mouth back to her breast.

"The doors open," He whispers, Caroline glancing over at the open door, before shrugging, and gripped the hem of his shirt, and pulled it over his head, throwing it to the side.

"We'll have to be quick," She murmurs as she slides her hands down his chest, leaning down as she presses her lips to his, his hand tangling in her hair, his mouth agape when she moved her lips down his chest, nipping at his skin.

"What if he walks in," Stiles says, biting back a moan when she rolls her hips against his, smirking up at him as he glares.

"He won't," She says with a quirked eyebrow, "But if you want me to stop, then I mean, I'll sto-,"

"No, shut up." Stiles moved forward gripping her hair to pull her lips back to his, and she kissed him back without a second thought, her body shuddering some when his hands slid underneath her skirt.

Caroline hums against his lips, leaning forward again as his hands slip down to the back of her thighs, squeezing them gently as she reached down, undoing the button of his pants, and pulled his zipper down. Her lips begin to travel back down his chest, her hand slipping into his boxers, smirking at the moan that left his lips.

"Caroline, your mot—," Caroline sat up quickly at the sound of the sheriff's voice, Stiles sitting up as well, his hands going Caroline's hips as he stared at his father wide eyed, "Oh Jesus, Melissa!" The sheriff shouted, Caroline quickly shaking her head, her hand slipping out of Stiles's pants as she jumps up. Stiles grabbed his pillow swallowing thickly as he placed in his lap while Caroline searched around for her shirt.

"Hm, yeah, wh—," Melissa stopped talking, staring at Caroline who turned to face her, only in a black skirt and lace bra, "Oh god, this wasn't supposed to happen for another year." She says desperately, Caroline giving her mother a nervous smile.

"Get dressed," John said, Caroline looking over at the sheriff as she nods, then back at her mother who put her hand over her mouth, trying not to laugh but at the same time she could tell she wasn't very happy, "Actually, Caroline you… you grab something to cover yourself up with, and Stiles… uh." He looked over at his son, glancing at the pillow on his lap before making a face, "Just… come downstairs… when you can."

Caroline bit her lip as the sheriff walked away quickly, her mother stepping into the doorway more as she looked at her daughter, "It's right there, your blouse." She said pointing towards the end of the bed where the black and white fabric hung. Caroline nods as she runs over to it, and pulls it on, glancing back at Stiles as her mother places a hand on her back.

"You're in for the world's longest speech about sex young lady," Melissa mumbles, still trying not to laugh she glanced back at Stiles before guiding her down the stairs, "After work though, you're late."

Caroline gasped moving her arm to look at her watch and groaned, "Shit, I'm so sorry sheriff! We'll have to have the talk another time!" Caroline shouted to him as her mother passed her the car keys, shaking her head as Caroline quickly ran out, and sighs, leaning against the wall as she looked at John.

"What are we going to do with them?" John turned to Melissa, his mouth still open from the shock of the situation, his head shaking.

"….Family meeting?" He suggests, Melissa nodding.

"Family meeting."

xXxXxXx

Flashes of memories plagued her mind, her hands gripping the counter tight as she closed her eyes tightly, trying to block them out like Derek was trying to teach her. Scott didn't know that she was training with the Alpha, Stiles didn't even know. The only person aware other than her and Derek, was her new boss, Deaton, who sometimes let some of his knowledge of the situation slip to lend her a helping hand.

L'une Marquée, the marked one.

That's what Chris had called her, the human the Alpha brought into the pack, but there were so many different variations of L'une Marquée. He wasn't able to tell her what she was, why Peter chose her, all he knew that the reason she was chosen was because Peter must have seen something in her, some sort of spark.

Caroline really didn't understand how she could possibly be playing that role in Derek's pack, how Peter had known she was this… special person that he needed to be stronger, but she didn't care. She just wanted to focus on how making the painful memories of Hales stop. She had enough pain in her life as it is, but… to have their real pain, the pain of losing their entire family weighing on her heart was too much for her.

"Just breathe Caroline," The girl jumped at the sudden presence of Deaton, his hand on her shoulder, giving her a reassuring smile as she looked at him, "You can't let yourself get trapped in the visions." He says, squeezing her shoulder gently as she nods, letting out a deep breath. The flashes soon passed, and Caroline let her hands fall away from the counter.

"Thanks for that," She says genuinely, Deaton smiling as he nods, "You uh, well, before having bits of the Hales' shitty life thrown at me I was doing my job," She said as she hopped off the stood, and walked over to the schedule book, "You've got two appointments tomorrow. Donny the turtle's been extra slow apparently," She said with a chuckle, "He'll be visiting at noon, and then at 2 PM, you're getting a visit from Sparkles, the Rottweiler who swallowed a part of his food bowl."

Deaton sighs, his head shaking as Caroline smiled flipping the book closed as she put it back under the counter, "So, boss man," Caroline said as she stood back up, pulling her hair over her shoulder, "I was wondering if maybe… maybe you had a book I could borrow?" She asked hopefully, Deaton raising an eyebrow.

"A book on what?"

Caroline bit her lip, her hands folding in front of her as she leaned on her left foot, trying to look as cute and innocent as possible to sway him into letting her borrow it, "A book… about L'une Marquée… about packs? I have one that Argent gave me but, its information is limited, and, it's not helping all that much." She says, and Deaton nods slowly, studying her carefully.

"Caroline… I want to help you, I do… but without the proper knowledge of what Peter thought you were, what he was planning, I can't help you." He says, and Caroline frowns, "I… I can however, provide a book about Pack mentality and Lycanthropy lore."

Caroline smiled, "Could you? Really?" She asks happily, Deaton nodding and she beams, "Thank you so much." She says, Deaton nodding his head.

"I'll go get that for you, then I'm heading home," He said as he shrugged his lab coat off, hanging it up on the hook by the door leading to the examining room, "Make sure all the animals are fed, and that you lock the place up before heading home."

Caroline nods, "Yes boss," She says as she smiles again, and Deaton laughs, shaking his head as he headed towards his office, Caroline pulling her hair up into a messy bun. She switched on the radio, smiling when a familiar song came on as she headed back to the animal room.

"Hey kitties," Caroline cooed, sticking her finger in one of the cages, scratching behind the animal's ear as she listened to the meowing around her, "Dinner time huh babies?" She laughs walking towards the back of the room where the different foods were laid out.

Since working at the animal clinic Caroline had gotten quite a bit of cash, and was accustomed to the routine of taking care of the animals without any worry. She actually loved doing it, and spent most of her nights there since Scott now used his nights to sneak over to Allison's. Chris didn't allow Allison over to Caroline's any longer, but Caroline was always free to stop by, and at first she was wary. But Chris did help stop the Alpha, he stopped Kate from killing her brother, and he was also supplying her some knowledge about the L'une Marquée.

Lydia was still in the hospital, but she was out of her coma and Caroline could tell that there was something wrong with her. She remembered bits and pieces of the attack, she asked Caroline about it, but all Caroline could do was lie to her, say there was an animal that attacked the both of them, and she hated doing it. She hated lying to her best friend, and she wanted nothing more than to tell her the truth about everything. But she couldn't.

Then there was Stiles. Their relationship was now… open, Scott knew, her mother and his father knew far to much, Lydia knew, the whole school knew. They were finally out in the open, not hiding behind everyone's backs, and not strictly sex… Except Caroline still couldn't get her heart completely into it, she got what she wanted, she finally was able to stop the sneaking around but she was still so terrified that he was going to leave her. That he'd realize that Lydia really was the one he loved, and he'd toss her to the curb.

Caroline jumped when she heard the sudden loud barking, her head turning away from the cat she was currently feeding, the last one on the list before she moved into the dog room. "Must be getting rowdy," Caroline said shaking her head as she gave the cat one last scratch behind its ear, and shut the cage, grabbing the cart and flipping through the clip board to find the dog section. As she reached for the door the music from the radio stopped, the dogs barking louder, more violent and she froze.

"D-Deaton?" She called out as she set the clip board down at the rolling cart, moving forward some, "Deaton, you in there?"

There was no answer, only eerie silence other than the loud and vicious growling echoing from the dog's room, and she let out a shaky breath. She was getting sick and tired of this constant paranoia, a normal person would be able to just walk into the front and see who'd come in… But Caroline, she knew, she knew that if she opened that door there was a possibility of being put in a life or death situation.

Caroline decided she wasn't going to play the part of dumb blonde. She turned on her heel to go back to work a gasp escaping her lips at the sudden presence of Derek Hale. His eyes glowing red before he stepped out of the shadows, "You really should be more attune to your surroundings." Caroline glared.

"And you really should be less creepy." She snapped moving past him and opened the door leading into the dog room, "You could have texted, called, hell, you could have knocked like a normal person."

She was grumbling as she grabbed the rolling cart, and pulled it into the dog room where the animals were going nuts, "And do something about them, please for the love of God." She snapped again, and Derek rolls his eyes at her. Caroline jumped when a roar echoed throughout the room, glaring over toward Derek.

"That better?" Derek asked, Caroline sending him an incredulous look before rolling her eyes.

"What is it you need Derek?" She asked as she started doing her job of feeding the animals, Derek leaning against the wall.

"I'm going to build a pack," Caroline stopped a minute, biting her lip before she continued to feed the dogs, nodding her head slowly.

"Lee not happy with you still?" She asks, glancing over at him briefly as Derek shakes his head.

"Lee's only in my pack because he knows without me he's dead. He's angry, and he's out for blood… but with you in the pack, I think he'll be easier to control." Caroline scoffed rolling her eyes.

"What, am I the pack therapist, Lee can come to me and cry over his daddy being a psychopath, and I can ask him how it makes him feel? Yeah right." Caroline mocked, glancing over at Derek as he stared at her.

"No, Caroline, once you get your 'visions' under control then I can put you to use in helping me keep the pack connected."

Caroline let out a frustrated groan, turning to Derek, "How can I help you? I don't even know what's going on with me!" She shouts, her head shaking in frustration, "You know, since you decided to try to 'help' me you've been nothing but vague, annoying, and aggravatingly grumpy!" She snaps pointing at him, "If you don't start helping then I'm leaving and doing it my own way."

Derek sighs, "How can I help you if I don't even know what you are?" Derek pauses a minute his arms uncrossing from his chest as he steps towards her, "You're connected to him still Caroline," He says, beside her now watching as she set the food bowl in the dog's cage, knowing the statement made her uneasy, "He is the Alpha you're connected to… even in death, the only way to break that connection is for me to mark you in his place." Caroline glanced over at him, "I'm not doing that until you figure out what he wanted out of you."

"How the hell am I supposed to do that?" She groans, shutting the cage as she turned to him, "I don't know what the hell is happening to me! You're no fucking help, Scott, much as I love my brother, is just as useless, and Deaton's to cryptic to give me any information!" She shouted, her arms going up, "My only help is Argent, and I can't trust them!"

"You shouldn't trust them," Derek growled out, Caroline taking a step back, "They will use you for information, they will kill me, your brother, everyone you love who's a supernatural. They'll kill them all."

Caroline's eyes narrowed, she didn't believe that. Chris wouldn't. He saved Scott already, he had threatened Scott, but that was only to protect his daughter… he, there was no way Chris would take an innocent life.

"They are hunters Caroline," Derek said shaking his head, "They hunt things that aren't human, and you, you're definitely not just a human."

Caroline frowns, turning away from him, "I am just human Derek, I don't heal, I don't have super speed or strength. I have asthma for Christ sakes, how more human could I get?!"

Derek narrows his eyes, opening his mouth to talk with both of them heard knocking at a door, and the muffled shouts of Stiles, "Caaaaaarreeeoline!" Caroline looked towards Derek, who had suddenly disappeared, and she rolls her eyes as she jogs towards the door leading into the waiting room. Stiles and Scott both stood outside the front door, peering in, Scott with a strange look on his face.

"What the hell you two," She sighs as she unlocks the door, Stiles quickly coming in, Scott following in suit, "What are you guys doing?" Caroline glanced over when Allison followed in, the two girls smiling at each other for a moment before Stiles interrupted.

"Lydia's running around naked in the woods!" Stiles exclaimed, Caroline looking at him, her jaw dropping.

"What?" Caroline faltered, completely confused now, and Allison sighs, making her look towards her friend.

"Lydia left the hospital, and they think she's in the woods. My father's out there looking for her too." Allison stared, and Caroline swallows, her head nodding slowly.

"W-We have to find her," She stutters, walking over to the back, glancing over at the dogs, "If your dad finds her he could kill her." Caroline looked back at him, Allison shaking her head quickly.

"My dad wouldn't do that, never." Allison said sternly, and Caroline bits her lip nodding.

"Right… of course." She mutters as she pulls her coat on, Stiles walking over to help her, and she smiles at him, wrapping her scarf around her neck, "Let's go then." She says quickly, glancing over at Scott as he sent her a look that she chose to ignore.

Caroline went to follow Allison and Stiles out of the door, but Scott gripped her hand, making her turn back to him, "What is it?" She asks, Scott giving her a look.

"Was Derek here?" Caroline swallowed, biting her lip as she shook her head slowly, Scott sighing, "Why was he here? What did he want?" He asks quickly, Caroline shrugging her shoulders.

"I don't know, he stops by sometimes… He likes to know how I'm doing, since I'm somehow mentally connected to his dead psychotic uncle."

Caroline hated lying to her brother, especially since Scott did nothing but worry about her, and try to make sure she was safe. But there were just some things she didn't think he needed to know, and he already had enough to worry about with practically failing all his classes, "Can we go now, please, I'm worried about Lydia." Caroline pleads, and Scott nods, his hand going to her back as he led her out, walking ahead of her when she stopped to turn the lights off, and locked the place up.

"I'm going to need you to drop me back off here," She said to Stiles as Scott helped her into the jeep, Caroline taking her seat beside Allison in the back, "I've got to finish feeding the rest of the dogs."

Stiles nods his head, "I can stay and help." He says, Scott shaking his head.

"No I will, then we can drive back home in mom's car." Scott interrupted, Allison and Caroline both looking at him, "Just in case Derek shows up again.

"Derek was there?"

"God damn it Scott," Caroline sighed as Stiles shouted in a confused tone, Caroline rolling her eyes, "Guys, focus on Lydia arlight, she's out here somewhere scared and confused." She frowns, "We have to find her."

Stiles glowers wanting to push the subject further but he knew she was right, Lydia was what was important right now, not Derek visiting his girlfriend, late at night, alone… "Scott do your dog thing." Stiles mumbles, Scott nodding and Caroline watched, sighing softly to herself as her brother stuck his head out the window, sniffing at the air like a dog.

xXxXxXx

Caroline didn't sleep that night. By the time they returned home it was nearly 2 AM, with no sign of Lydia anywhere. It was a bust, her best friend was still missing, and to make matters worse, she now believed Derek about the Argents, about Chris.

Caroline let out the breath she'd been holding in, her hands gripping the tree she was hiding behind as she slowly peered around it, her eyes narrowing as Chris Argent spoke to her brother. The anger she felt in her wasn't her own, but Peter's anger… the anger he left in her, his memories, his rage. Ever since the connection was formed, and in death, the man's memories plagued her, his emotions filled her, and she could hardly tell what her thoughts were compared to his.

But right now, she could honestly say that the flare of anger that lit up inside her when she heard Chris taunting Scott cryptically about being cut in half was her own, and she stood, not caring if she was supposed to be hiding from the man.

"What the hell is your problem!?" She snapped, storming towards him as he quickly stood, the two men with him turning to point their guns at her, and Chris held his hand up.

"She's just a human, stop." Chris said, the men lowering the guns and Caroline glared, "You out here too? I've told you Caroline, it's not safe for you to be in this world." He said his head shaking as she gives him a look, remembering all the talks he had given both her and Allison the many times since Peter's death she spent at her house.

"My brother is in this world Mr. Argent, I can't let him go through it alone." She said, Chris frowning, "And I'm part of it too, the L'une Marquée, just like it said in the book you let me borrow."

Chris sighs, "You have a choice Caroline," Chris said, stepping towards her, Caroline's eyes moving to Scott as he hung there still, blood rushing to his head, "You don't have to work with them, with the wolves, you can just be normal… you could be a normal high school girl." He said, and Caroline shakes her head slowly, because that's not what she wanted, not while everyone she loves was in danger, "Or you can take up my offer as well." He murmurs, stepping closer to her, and Caroline takes a step back.

"No," She says bluntly, her voice harsh, "You just threatened to cut my brother in half Mr. Argent, he has literally done absolutely nothing to you, nothing but love your daughter." She said, her shoulders shrugging, "I don't want anything to do with someone who threatens a sixteen year old boy, just because he was cursed by some monster."

Chris stood there for a minute, nodding his head, "The choice is yours Caroline." He mutters, glancing up at the young girl, who, while a pain in the ass, he had come to care for, and the fact she was one of his daughter's close friends made it all the worse, "Just remember, playing with wolves only leads to chaos." He warns, and Caroline nods her head, not caring, because her brother needed her, and she needed him.

Caroline's expression was enough to let the others around her to know she wasn't in a good mood. All Caroline wanted to do right now was go back out in those woods to find Lydia, and that task itself was almost impossible to do without Scott.

She sighs, closing her locker with a slam causing a few of the kids around her to stare as she stormed away, smiling sadly when Allison walked towards her.

"Are you okay?" She asks, the other brunette moving to walk beside her as they headed towards the class, Caroline shrugging her shoulders.

"Yeah, but, I can't focus on anything right now." She said her head shaking slowly, "I just want to find Lydia, and all these people talking about her, spreading rumors." Caroline sends a knowing look over at Allison, her friends head nodding, "They're getting under my skin."

"Just ignore it," Allison says, her arm wrapping around Caroline's, "We'll find her, don't worry."

Caroline smiles when Allison rubs her arm reassuringly, the two girls slipping into the class and taking their usual seats by each other, "What about you?" Caroline asks as she sets her purse on the table, turning around to face Allison, "How are you with Kate's funeral today?"

Caroline could tell that it bothered Allison, no matter what kind of person Kate was, it was still her aunt, and they still had been close. Maybe Caroline spoke to openly, or maybe it was just a coincidence, but two girls starter whispering about Kate keeping Allison from answering and Caroline frowns, her hand over Allison's, "Just ignore it," She says, raising her voice an octave, so she could be sure they heard her now, "It's not like people like them matter anyways, next time you see them outside of high school they'll be working at the quickie mart, and I don't mean the convenient store." She said as she glanced over at the girls, giving a fake smile before turning in her seat, waiting for her history teacher to start his lecture.

Class moved along, Caroline actually staying awake and taking notes on the man's rather boring lecture about the revolutionary war before the bell to lunch sounded. Caroline and Allison gathered there things, and headed to the cafeteria, both girls smiling when Scott walked towards them.

"Caroline, I heard we might have a pop quiz for Harris." He said, Caroline nodding her head once, glancing over at Allison as she smiled at Scott before he cleared his throat, "Oh, and uh, Stiles told me to give you this." He said quickly handing his sister a folded up note, and walked away, purposely letting his hand brush against Allison's, and Caroline rolls her eyes, pushing the note into her coat pocket.

"You guys are subtle," She teases walking to stand in the lunch line, Allison rolling her eyes right back at Caroline, "Why is it a secret at school anyways? You think your parents are going to have the teachers feed them information about you two?"

Allison nods her head quickly, taking the apple she handed to her, "Yes, no, definitely yes… You saw how they acted whenever you came over, making sure you weren't some middle man delivering messages." Allison said bitterly, and Caroline laughs some.

"I was though, am, and I do not mind at all being the one helping out in this vomit inducing Romeo & Juliet-esk story." Caroline teased as the girls made it to the front of the line, and quickly paid for their lunches. Caroline led them out to the court yard, sitting down on one of the walls that looked out over the yard, one leg hanging over the side as she set her bag down on the ground.

"Hey, I think your and Stiles' love story is much more cheesier than ours," Allison said, taking a bite of her apple as Caroline made a face, "It is! Two childhood friends falling madly in love with one another, total Nicholas Sparks book, plus what's up with that love note you just got? You gonna read it?"

Caroline snorts, "I wouldn't use love in the equation, and no I am not, not yet at least." She said shaking her head, "And you forget the part where it started off as just sex, lots of sex," She said smiling when Allison rolls her eyes, blushing a bit, "Then the part where he's also in love with my best friend, and says he's in love with me when she obviously denied him." Caroline said, her smile faltering some, "Love isn't really in the picture for us yet."

Allison frowns watching as Caroline picked at the crust of her sandwich, "He told you he loved you at the Winter Formal Care… he, he stayed by your side when Peter…" She trailed off, her voice in a whisper when she saw Caroline's body stiffen, "I'm pretty sure Stiles loves you, after all you two have gone through." Caroline sighs, shaking her head.

"Enough about Stiles," She mumbles glancing up at Allison, smiling, "More about you and my brother, though you can leave out the sex, please, I do not need to know that."

Allison really wanted to push the subject on Caroline not thinking Stiles lover her further, but knew that if she did Caroline would get defensive, because that's how she was. So she put on a smile, and started talking about Scott like she wanted, the two friends eventually laughing loudly about her twin brother.

xXxXxXx

Caroline now sat beside Stiles, who was smiling like an idiot beside her and she wasn't exactly sure why. She had a feeling it was because of whatever the note he wrote said, but she hadn't gotten around to reading it yet. She glanced over at him, an eyebrow raised when he sent her a very adorable smile. Caroline quickly turned her head, cursing at herself mentally when she felt herself smile and blush, Mr. Harris dropping the quiz down in front of her.

"Mr. Stilinksi, Miss. McCall, control your hormones please." He asks in his typical monotone voice, Caroline glaring at the back of his head as he continued on down the rows.

"Alright, it's causing me severe mental anguish to say this," Caroline glanced back at Stiles, seeing him leaning forward on the table, talking to her brother now, "But he's right." He whispered, Caroline raising an eyebrow when her brother agreed. She figured they were talking about Jackson, because it was her idea to have them talk to him about Lydia, because she knew if she did it Jackson would end up punched in the face.

"What if the next body part she steals is from someone who's still alive?" Stiles said, drawing out his words dramatically, and Caroline grimaced.

"Lydia is not the one doing that," She whispered angrily elbowing him in the side, "it is something else."

"What is it? What else coul-,"

"This is a pop quiz Mr. Stilinksi," Mr. Harris voice boomed, making Caroline look up at him, making a face as she moved to pick her pencil up, "If I hear your voice again I may be tempted to give you detention for the rest of your high school career." Caroline frowns, looking over at Stiles.

"Can you do that?" She kicked him under the table at his obvious smart ass tone, her eyes narrowing.

"Shut up," She snapped, Stiles glaring back at her as Scott turned, glaring at the both of them.

"Oh, there it is again, your voice, triggering the only impulse I've ever had to strike a student repeatedly and violently." Caroline bit the inside of her cheek, glaring at the man as Stiles stared at him dumbfounded, "I'll see you at 3 for detention."

"Caroline was talking to!" Stiles said quickly, Caroline gasping as she looked over at him, Mr. Harris shaking his head.

"Yes, Mr. Stilinksi I am aware, but if I put the both of you in one room together I'm so very afraid of the outcome, and the last thing we need in this town is more little Stilinksis' roaming around." Caroline's eyes widened at his comment, the entire class laughing as her face turned red, and she turned her attention back to her quiz, "Shut up everyone, back to your quiz now."

Caroline was still blushing, modified by the teacher's comment, and she glanced over at Stiles who looked pleased with himself. Of course Mr. Harris saying something like that didn't bother him, if anything, it made him happy because now everyone was going to be thinking Stiles got laid by her, Caroline McCall… it was true but still.

"You're so annoying you know that," Caroline whispered to Stiles angrily, her boyfriend, god she wasn't going to get used to that, turning his head grinning at her.

"You love me for it," He said tapping her paper, "First answer is c by the way." He whispered, sliding his paper a bit closer towards her so she could see the equation, and she narrows her eyes, but can't help to smile before going to jot down his answer, Mr. Harris clearing his throat.

"Do I really need to turn this into a kindergarten room? Mr. Stilinksi, Miss. McCall, please reframe from smiling, winking, smoldering, and any other weird antics you two may have at each other or I will move you and force you ,Caroline, to work with favorite person, Mr. Whittermore."

Caroline glares again, glancing back at Jackson, her eyes widening some when she saw him staring at his hand, black blood staining his fingers, "Mr. Harris may I go to the bathroom," Jackson asked quickly, Mr. Harris quickly excusing him when he saw what was happening, and Caroline swallowed.

She needed to go follow him, but with the rate Mr. Harris was going there was no way in hell he'd let her go unless, "r. Harris I need to go to the bathroom." She said quickly, the teacher looking at her his eyes narrowing and was about to say no before she cleared her throat, "It's my time of the month sir and I-,"

"Go, go now." He said shaking his head and Caroline smiled grabbing her purse and quickly hurried out of the room after Jackson.

Caroline felt a familiar sensation in her side, not an throbbing pain like it had been when Peter was alive, but more of a dull ache, and she frowns moving into the boys bathroom. Caroline's jaw drops when she spots Derek, who was back away from Jackson, the boy bleeding from his ears.

"Derek what have you done to him," She shouts quickly moving over to Jackson, seeing the panic and fear etched onto the boy's face as she grabbed the paper towels form the dispenser, trying to help him wipe away the blood, "Derek," Caroline turned Derek shaking his head slowly as he backed off towards the bathroom door, and she glared as he quickly left.

Jackson pulled from her, "What are you doing? What do you want?" He shouted, blood trickling down his nose now, and Caroline frowns.

"I want to help Jackson," She said, holding out the paper towels, gesturing towards the window, "Jackson this isn't good." She mumbles watching as he snatches the towels from her, trying to get the bleeding to stop.

"You don't think I know that? Jesus Caroline, I know that! This isn't want I wanted at all, he lied to be, Derek, he said that I'd be just like Scott." He said, and Caroline rolls her eyes.

"Well that's where your first mistake was Jackson," She said moving to other side of him, wetting a paper towel and going to clean off his face, "Stop being a douchebag and let me help." She snapped when he tried to pull away, Jackson glaring before staying still, letting Caroline help.

"Did this happen to you?" He asks after a few minutes of silence, and Caroline shakes her head.

"I never got bit," She mumbles, tossing another dirty paper towel into the sink, pulling away when it seemed like the bleeding was done, "I was just scratched… a lot."

Jackson swallows, his head nodding as he turned to Caroline, "Are you going to grill me about Lydia too?" He asked, Caroline's eyes rolling when his pretentious attitude returned, and she shakes her head.

"No, because I already know it's going to end with me very angry, and you very bloody, again." She said her head nodding once as Jackson scoffed, "You're not worried?" She asks, Jackson looking down at her, "You're not worried one bit that Lydia might be out there? Hurt? Alone?" Caroline pursed her lips for a minute, "Dead."

Jackson glares, his head shaking, "Lydia's a big girl Caroline, she's not dead." He said and Caroline nods her head slowly, "And she's also not my problem anymore, so if she wants to follow in your footsteps and have a psychotic break down then so be it." He said shrugging his shoulders.

Caroline stared at him for a minute, before sighing, "There's the Jackson we all know and loathe." She mumbles moving to the sink to wash her hands, "Nice taking care of you buddy, go fuck yourself." She says as she storms away.

When Caroline made it back into the class, she had ten minutes to complete the quiz, and did so with most of Stiles' help before Mr. Harris collected it up, requiring that they read the next chapter and start their notes while he graded.

"Pst," Caroline looked up from her nails, Stiles poking her side, trying to get her attention, "Did you read it yet?" He asked, and Caroline raised an eyebrow, pretending she had no idea what he was talking about.

"Read what?" She questions, Stiles making a face as he glanced over at Scott, who was busy zoning out. Stiles looked at the teacher before slowly slipping out of his chair, scooting his stool closer to Caroline, and she bit her bottom lip as he sat back down silently, his leg brushing against hers.

"The note," He mumbles, his voice lower now they were closer, "I had Scott give you it during lunch." He explained, and Caroline nods her head.

"Oh, that note." She says reaching into her pocket, and pulled out the folded up paper, "No, I haven't." She said, holding the note in between her fingers, Stiles frowning as he reached over and took it from her.

"You should read it now," He mumbles as he unfolds it, Caroline feeling herself getting nervous, "Since I have detention, and tonight we have that dinner… I won't really have a chance to see you rea-,"

Caroline sighed in relief when last bell of the day rung, and she snatched the note back from him smiling, "Oops, saved by the bell, you've got detention, sorry." She said, kissing his cheek, "I'll read this later, see you tonight." She said as she gathered her things, and quickly left before Stiles could stop her, hearing Mr. Harris yelling at him to stay put when he tried to chase after her.

Caroline sighs in relief when she managed to get out of reading the note, glancing down at Stiles' messy handwriting scribbled out over the lines, and she frowns, folding it back up messily, and stuffed it back into her pocket as she stopped at her locker.

She exchanges her books for the one she needed for homework tonight, jumping when Derek was suddenly standing by her locker, "Dude, stop doing that." She snapped hitting his chest as she glared and pushed him forward, him moving slowly, like her pushes hadn't even affected him "If Scott sees you with me he's going to be pissed." She said as she hurried down the hall, Derek following in toe.

"I have my first beta," He mumbles as they made it out of the school, Caroline glancing over at him curiously, "You need to come with me."

Caroline rolls her eyes, "I told you, I'm not going to be your pack therapist Derek, not until you hel-,"

"I'm going to remark you," He said, Caroline stopping, looking up at him, "Tonight. It will stop your connection with Peter, and connect you to me… to my pack."

Caroline stayed quiet, brushing her hair behind her ear as the wind whipped it around, "What happened to 'I'm not doing that until you figure out what he wanted out of you'" She mocked, and Derek let out a huff, looking away from her.

"Peter's dead," He said as he looks back over at Caroline, "The only way to figure out what he wanted would be for you to try to contact him, or for him to magically come back to life. Neither are going to happen." He said, Caroline's head nodding slowly, "I need you part of my pack now not later, so I'm willing to compromise."

Caroline's eyebrows furrowed together, "Compromise what?" She asks curiously, Derek gesturing towards his car.

"Come on, and I'll tell you."

xXxXxXx

Caroline stood in her room, frowning as she held her hair up, her other hand rubbing at her sore neck where the bandage covered up the new marks left by Derek. She hadn't expected it to be so painful. When Peter had done it, it had hurt, he was ripping her apart, but when Derek did it… it was almost like he had gotten into her head. His thoughts, feelings, memories, they all flooded her mind in one gush of heartbreaking pain. Guilt, rage, sorrow, loss, it all filled her until she couldn't even tell what was her own and what was his. When the pain had finally stop, Caroline fell, she remembered every single second of it. She fell to her knees, sobbing so hard she thought her lungs were going to collapse, that she was going to have an asthma attack, all because of the connection with Derek… with having experienced his pain in one sitting. It sucked. His claws went straight into her spinal cord, and yet here she was, not dead… and the even weirder thing? The scars left by Peter had both healed completely when she had woken up.

Caroline stood in Derek's new home. An old abandoned subway station. She had to admit, the guy stuck to what he knew. Dark, creepy, and all around unwelcoming. She was surprised when she met his new beta, Isaac Lahey, one of the mediocre lacrosse players and the guy that had asked Lydia out freshman year who she coldly denied.

He obviously recognized her, and seemed not to like her all too much, but Caroline couldn't really recall ever being a bitch to him so she figured it was because of her friendship with Lydia.

"This is who's supposed to keep us all connected" Caroline glared over at Isaac, watching as the taller boy crossed his arms over his chest, his judging eyes raking over her, "How is that even going to work?"

Derek sighed his eyes rolling as he gestured for Caroline to sit in one of the grimy subway seats, and she complied, the Alpha rolling his sleeves up.

"Caroline is the L'une Marquée. The marked one. She's the human, or, part human, tether that will be connected to all of us." He murmurs, pulling the shoulders of her blouse away, pointing at the scar on her shoulder, "Peter, the old Alpha, my dead uncle did this to her, connecting her to him, and because of that she's been feeling everything he felt, having all his memories."

"Not all," Caroline said, moving nervously in the seat, "Flashes… just bits and pieces… like nightmares. I never fully remember them." She mumbles, and Derek nods.

"It's because you're untrained." He said looking over at Isaac, "Just like you. Both of you are untrained, both of you are learning, so you're going to put whatever differences you have aside." He said, and Caroline rolls her eyes.

"I hardly even know him," She said her arms crossing over her chest as Isaac snorts.

"Yeah, exactly, and yet I know everything about you." He said as he leaned against one of the poles in the cart, Caroline glaring.

"You don't know anything about me, actually." She spat back out, Derek sighing.

"This is why we need you," He said Caroline's head turning some, "Once I mark you you're connected me, and I'm connected to all my betas, meaning, you will be too." Caroline went to argue again before she let out a gasp, her hand gripping the railing on the chair tight, her eyes going wide as her mouth dropped, Derek's claws in the back of her neck.

"Care," Caroline dropped her hair, turning at the sound of her mother's voice, Melissa smiling at her, "John and Stiles are going to be late, but because of good news." She said, Caroline walking over to her quickly.

"Did they find her? They found Lydia?" She said, Melissa nodding and Caroline beamed.

"They did, they took her to the hospital, John said she seemed alright… a little shaken up, cold, and in need of a shower but she wasn't injured. She's going to need to have some tests ran before she can be released again," She said, Caroline nodding, "But I'll take you to see her first thing tomorrow morning."

Caroline smiled all the stress and worry flying from her shoulders now knowing that Lydia was safe, that she was alive, and she reached forward hugging her mom.

"This is so great," She said, Melissa hugging her back tight, "And Scott? Where's he? With them to no doubt?" She asks, laughing some as she pulled away, Melissa shaking her head.

"No actually, I'm not sure where your brother is… but if he doesn't show up soon he's getting his dinner cold, and soggy." She said, Caroline laughing as her mother smiled, "Come on, I need you to come set the table for me, and please, use the good china."

Caroline smiles nodding as Melissa rests her hand to her head, pulling her close to press a kiss to her hair, "That's my girl, come on now." She said moving to walk in front of her, the two McCall women heading down the stairs just as Scott hurried in, looking distraught. "Where's the fire kid?" Melissa asked, Caroline looking at her twin with a worried expression as he locked the door, swallowing.

"Uh, nothing, just starving. What's for dinner?" He asks as he shrugs his jacket off, hanging it on the coat rack.

"Salmon and steamed veggies," Caroline glanced over at her mom, who eyed Scott curiously still, "You sure everything's alright Scott? You don't seem to hot." She said reaching over to feel his forehead, Scott sighing.

"Mom I'm fine, I just need to go uh, change for dinner, I ran here." He explained, Caroline nodding her head quickly.

"Yeah, you do stink pretty bad bro," She said, trying to help him out with distracting their mother, Scott sending her a playful glare as Melissa laughs softly.

"You go shower, your sister and I will be down here, hurry up though, they should be here soon." She said swatting at his butt, Caroline laughing as Scott made a face before he hurried up the stairs, and Caroline walked into the kitchen with her mother.

They typically had dinner with Stiles and his dad every Sunday, barbeques often happened frequently between them on those days, but this, this was much more formal, and Caroline had a feeling it was because of their parents walking in on them. Caroline still blushed at the memory, having the sheriff walk in just as her hand was in his son's pants, and her in only her bra… it was horrific, and absolutely traumatizing. She didn't think she'd ever get over it, and she was sure the sheriff wouldn't.

Caroline shakes her head, trying not to think about it as she lines the silverware up on the table in the right order, setting the white plates with silver trimming down in the center of the place mates. Her head moved to the door when the door bell sounded, setting the last plate down as she skipped towards the door, Scott trotting down the stairs and getting there before her.

"They found Lydia," She said quickly when he went to open the door, Scott nodding.

"I know, and also, Allison's grandfather is a psychopath." He said, Caroline eyeing him now with a strange expression as he opened the door.

"Hey kids," Caroline tore her eyes from Scott when the sheriff greeted them, and she smiled over at him, her eyes flicking over to Stiles who stood a little behind him, "Smells great Mel." He called out as Caroline took a step back, letting him in as Scott greeted Stiles.

"Awh, thanks John, it's some recipe I found online, thought it be a nice change of pace." Melissa laughed as she walked into the dining room, tossing a dish towel over her shoulder, "Come on, I'll show you the recipe." She said gesturing for him to go into the kitchen with her, the two glancing back at Stiles as he walked over to Caroline before disappearing behind the kitchen door.

"We need to talk," Scott whispered as he moved over to them, both Stiles and Caroline turning to face him, their heads nodding.

"What happened Scott? Where were you?" Caroline whispered, glancing back towards the kitchen when she heard her mother laughing.

"Allison's grandfather came to town today," Scott said frowning, Caroline nodding.

"Yeah I know, Allie texted me and told me." She interjected quickly, "What? Is he another hunter? Is he after you?"

Scott frowns, his head shaking slowly, "I.. I'm not sure if he wants me… But he is, and he's… he's way worse than any of them." He mumbles, his voice a bit lower and Caroline can tell something horrible happened, "He… he cut an omega in half." He said, her eyes widening, "With a sword."

"A sword?!" Stiles said, his mouth open in shock as Caroline bit her lip.

"Yeah, a sword. A big, silver sword." Scott said, and Caroline sighs, "We need to be careful, you need to be careful," Scott said quickly turning to look at his sister.

"I need to be careful? Why do I need to be careful?"

"Because I know that Derek keeps trying to get you in his pack, for whatever it is you're called again." He said, Caroline's lips pursing as she looks away, Stiles looking down at her, "It's not safe for you to be involved with anything to do with Derek, or Lee okay Care? Allison's grandfather is after wolves, and if you're with them… he, he might hurt you."

Caroline turns her head back to him, "They have a code Scott, I'm just a human, he can't hurt me." She said, and Scott frowns his head shaking.

"I don't think this guy follows by the handbook Care… he's dangerous." Scott said, and Caroline lets out a sigh, "Promise me you won't have anything to do with Derek Care, please, promise me." Scott begged, looking at his sister expectantly as she shakes her head, her arms crossing over her chest.

"Caroline, come on, he's nothing but trouble, you know that." Stiles mumbles, nudging her with his arm, and Caroline rolls her eyes.

"Fine, I promise." She lied quickly, because she couldn't tell Scott the truth now, not with him worrying about her safety all over again. She would just have to keep in a secret, that she was part of Derek's pack.

"Dinner's ready," Caroline and Stiles both turned at the sound of Caroline's mother, who carried in a plate of grilled salmon, the sheriff following close behind with the bowl of steaming vegetables.

"Come on guys, let's eat." John said as he set the bowl down. Scott moved to quickly snag the seat beside his mother, Caroline sitting beside him, Stiles beside her and beside his father who sat by Melissa at their round table. The conversation started up quickly as the food was passed around, forks clinking against the fancy plates as laughter filled the air. Caroline smiles, sipping at her water as she glanced around the table as the sheriff retold one of his cop stories about arresting some drunk guy that was trying to break into the Beacon Hills public library. It was one she had heard before, but Scott hadn't so he told it for them, getting into it, Stiles quickly reminding his father of bits he left out, making him send looks at his son, Caroline laughing as her head shakes. This was what she had always loved doing, ever since she was just a little girl. These family get togethers made her feel at home, made her at peace even when she could hardly think straight. This was her family, her mom, Scott, the Sheriff… Stiles. They were her home.

The talking eventually talked down, Scott leaning back in his chair stuffed, Stiles hand on her knee underneath the table while her mother smiled over at them, before she looked over at John.

"So, should we go ahead and start the meeting?" She asks, the sheriff nodding once, letting out a huff as he leaned forward, Scott looking at them.

"Meeting?" He asks, eyebrows raised as Melissa nods.

"Yes, but it's more directed at your sister and Stiles." She explained, Caroline frowning because she knew exactly what the meeting was about, she'd been dreading this moment, "But it still will apply to you to Scott, now all of you pay attention."

"Momma, please don't." Caroline said quickly, leaning forward in her chair, "I really don't thi-,"

"Hush now Linny, this is important." She said, glancing over at the sheriff who honestly looked just about as uncomfortable as she did, "Now, we understand that you and Stiles are dating." She started, Scott groaning, but instantly shut up when their mother sent a look his way.

"We support it 100% guys, really, it's great." Stiles's dad pitched in, looking over at his son, "But… you're also both sixteen."

"Almost seventeen," Stiles countered quickly, his ears red from embarrassment, but that wasn't going to stop him from getting a few words in here and there.

"Yes, Stiles, you're almost seventeen." Melissa said, her eyebrow raising, "But even then, being sexually active comes with its risks you two."

"Oh god, mom, please, please don't make me sit here." Scott moaned out, Caroline nodding with him, "I don't want to hear about Caroline having sex with my best friend, please."

"Scott McCall, this isn't about just Caroline being sexually active, it's about all three of you being sexually active." She said, and all three teenagers groaned, causing Melissa to sigh her head shaking, "if you guys aren't mature enough to sit and listen to the facts like adults, then you shouldn't be having sex." Melissa said as she stands, her eyes snapping to Caroline and Stiles.

"You two, we caught you in a very compromising position the other morning," Another groan fell form Scott's lips at what the sheriff said, his ears and neck almost just as red as Stiles' were, "And uh, we, we don't want that to happen again."

"It won't," Caroline and Stiles both said at once, Melissa looking down at them.

"We can't stop you from having sex," Melissa said, the sheriff looking over at her, "But, we want you to be at least safe about it."

"Or just not do it." The sheriff interrupted her quickly, Stiles and Caroline looking back at him, "Ever… not at all, especially while I'm in the house."

Caroline sighs, her face so read she could feel the heat radiating off her cheeks, and she rests her hands against her face, "Can this conversation stop now, please." She moans, Melissa chuckling as she nods.

"Scott it's your night to do dishes," Melissa said as Scott nods, standing up quickly, giving his sister a teasing look because she was the one getting the sex talk and not him and she sent a glare his way.

"Want a glass of wine John?" Melissa asked as Scott gathered up the plates, the sheriff sighing.

"Why not, can make my son drive me home anyways." He said, the two adults standing, and heading into the kitchen with Scott.

Caroline lets out a big sigh, her head falling down on the table against her arms, "That was horrible." She grumbles into her arms, Stiles nodding his head in agreement.

"Come on," He said as he stands, pulling her chair out, reaching down to take her hand out from under her, "Let's go sit on the porch, get some cool air and forget that talk ever happened." He mumbles pulling her up, smiling at the pout on her lips.

The two walked outside, sitting down on the porch steps, his hands holding hers as he held them in his lap, rubbing them to keep her warm as she shivered, Caroline leaning into his side some.

"You looked absolutely terrified earlier today," He mumbles, Caroline looking over at him confused, "When I asked you to read the note." He said, Caroline frowning, her head turning.

"I wasn't terrified." She lied, her head falling a little as he let out a small snort.

"No, yeah, you were… you probably haven't even read it yet huh?" He asks as she turns to him, his warm breath on her skin, and she shakes her head slowly, "Thought so."

Caroline frowns her eyes dropping to stare at the crack in the wood, "I just… I'm not into that whole cheesy couple shit alright, you know that." She said, and Stiles nods his head, he knew that, but he also knew that it was complete bullshit, and Caroline was just scared.

"Of course," He said, bringing his hands up to her lips, kissing her knuckles, watching as she smiles, "Do you have the note on you still?" He wonders, and Caroline nods, pulling her hands away as she dug into her pants pocket, and held out the crinkled, folded paper, and he took it from her carefully, "Let's make a deal." He said, Caroline raising an eyebrow.

"What kind of deal?" She asks smiling at him softly as he rests his hands on her thigh, note in hand.

"I will give you this note back, and you will read it," He said slowly, Caroline nodding, "But only on the day you finally admit you love me too." He said, Caroling frowning, her gaze turning away from him. There it was, those words again. That he loved her. He was dating her, he chose her, but Lydia obviously wasn't… on the market, and there was no way he stopped loving her that fast. He was eventually going to go back to her. Back to being obsessed with her best friend, and her being just someone he used to have sex with.

"I'm sorry," Caroline mumbles, and Stiles quickly shakes his head, squeezing her thigh gently.

"Nothing to be sorry about baby," He mumbles, her heart racing at the new name he called her, he had never called her baby before, "You don't have to tell me anytime soon." He said Caroline looking up at him, and she smiles sadly, "I'm not going to push you." Caroline smiles when he leans forward, her eyes closing for a brief second when his lips pressed to her forehead.

She hums, her hand moving to rest against his neck, giving him a look he knew well, and he laughs softly as he presses his lips to hers now, her hand on his neck tightening some as she leans closer, deepening the kiss.

"Not even five minutes," Caroline pulled away at her mother's laugh, sighing as Stiles laughs, his head leaning against her shoulder as she looked up at their parents, "But hey, least her hand was outside of his clothes this time huh John," Melissa teased as she elbowed the sheriff in the ribs, the man blushing with the teenagers, nodding his head quickly.

"No more touching," He says quickly, Caroline rolling her eyes as Stiles laughs, their parents moving to sit by them on the stairs, bottle of wine with them, and the four started talking again, Scott coming out to join them.

Caroline smiled when Stiles laced their fingers together, her head leaning against her mother's shoulder as she spoke to the sheriff Caroline thinking to herself that she loved moments like this the most.
