Chapter 12: Ending the Fight
The water had settled on the lower grounds of the school, flooding the basement. Everyone had scrambled to safety unlike the vampires. They were all scattered throughout the school lying dead with engorged throats, their skin peeling like old wallpaper. Unfortunately the water had not reached Vladimir as he had been fighting with Alfred and Arthur up on the roof.
He spiralled out of reach of Arthur's spell but came into Alfred's line of attack and was hit with a direct hit to the head. Vladimir was sent sprawling to the ground. He slowly got up to his feet but was immediately pinned down by Alfred. He tried to scramble free but Alfred's grip was too strong.
"Alfred, come on. Let's take him down to the others. We can all deal with him then."
Alfred nodded and hoisted Vladimir up to his feet. Arthur pointed his wand towards him and cast a binding spell on the vampire.
"Vhat ze hell is zis for?"
"Just a precaution," Arthur said. "If you want I can do it tighter. I'll need to after what you did to me."
Vladimir scoffed. They steered him off the roof and headed down to meet the others that were waiting in the hall. Belle was looking pale as Roderich dabbed at her neck with a purple ointment. Lars was standing by her side, looking worried, with Matthias placing a comforting arm on his shoulder. Feliks had a bump on his head and one of Sadiq's horns was cracked. When they stepped into the room, Lars saw red and stormed over, brandishing his fists.
"You son of a bitch!" he growled.
"Lars, no please!" Matthias said, stepping forward and holding his lover back.
"Move out of the way, Matthias."
"Lars, stop, please. There's been enough fighting."
Lars grimaced and then relaxed. Alfred pushed Vladimir into the middle.
"What do you suggest we do with him?" Ludwig asked.
"I say we kill him." Lars snarled.
"We're not all sinking to his level," Fritz shot. "Killing him will make us just as bad as he is. So, killing will not be the final answer, understand?"
Lars nodded and Fritz walked over to the teen, who grimaced at him. "Well, Vladimir what do you suggest we do?"
"Shut your face, old man."
"You care to repeat that?!" Gilbert growled.
Fritz placed a hand on Gilbert's shoulder and held him back. "Vladimir, Alexander is gone. There's nothing you can do, now. He's dead."
"No, Alexander is alive. He will be alive again when this school is gone! You're back aren't you?"
"Zat vas because I vas requested to be here by the headmaster. I was given that opportunity and I agreed...I'm glad I did." He looked over at the albino, who grinned at him with mirth.
Vladimir spat on the ground. "Flith, ze lot of you! You von't stop me—"
"It's too late, Vladimir. It's over now." Arthur said. "You've lost."
"He's right, Vlad." said a voice.
Everyone looked round and saw a ghostly figure with dark hair, dark green eyes and a warm smile on his face. Vladimir stared at the ghost figure of Alexander, his one and only love. Vladimir broke free of Alfred's grip and hurried to him, Alfred went to grab him but Arthur stopped him. Vladimir reached Alexander and touched the ghost's face.
"You're here?"
"Of course, I am, you idiot!" Alexander said. "But I have to ask, why are you doing this for me?"
"Because...I wanted you back in my arms again. I couldn't stand behind apart from you for so long. I wanted to destroy the school, because the school destroyed you!"
"Vlad, don't be an even bigger fool, you have a little brother to fight for. How do you think he'll feel when he finds out that his brother did something awful? It's not very big brothery is it?"
"No."
"No, so please don't jump the gun anymore, my darling. Accept my death and find someone new."
"I can't."
"There is no such word as 'can't'. Just try. I'll always love you, Vlad. Remember that."
Then the pale form of the ghost suddenly, changed into wisps of smoke. Suddenly he was gone. Vladimir stared at the spot where his love once stood. He fell to ground.
He had fainted.
A months passed by and the school was letting its students go for the summer term. The students were relaxing after the exams and the school had been repaired since Vladimir and his horde of vampires had attacked. Vladimir had looked up in a magical holding cell that was located in a small island somewhere along the Pacific Ocean. Now, the students were either in their dorms, in the school grounds, dining hall or in the classrooms. They were all sitting in the music room; Alfred and Arthur sitting on a desk, Matthew and Gilbert in Francis' and Fritz's laps, Ludwig and Feliciano by the window and Antonio and Lovino also on a desk.
It wouldn't be long until the school would be closing down for the term and everyone would be saying goodbye. Fritz was having a hard time trying to plead with Gilbert to go home but Gilbert wasn't listening. Matthew looked down at Francis.
"So, what are you going to do?" he asked.
"I'm not sure, mon cher. Maybe go to Paris and get a job and live a good life. Or maybe go to Spain with Toni and write to you every day."
Matthew smiled and nudged his head against the siren's head, purring as he did so.
...An hour later, the doors closed on the school and the students hugged and said farewell to their friends and left with their family. The friends and lovers smiled at one another and bid farewell to the school.
The End!
