Miku quietly sat in the dining room, eating breakfast. Its been a couple of days since IA said she would take a break from killing and IA had amazingly kept her word. At first, Miku was wary at the sudden peaceful atmosphere but soon she slowly began to relax when nothing unusual has happened so far.
Miku took a long sip of her coffee then sighed. She glanced over to the clock on the wall and her eyes widened. She was going to be late if she doesn't leave soon.
Miku gulped down the rest of her coffee and stood up, grabbing her car keys on the way out. She shut the door behind her and looked up at the blue sky. It looked like another bright sunny day. She smiled softly before making her way to her car.
"You haven't forgotten anything, have you?"
Miku winced as a familiar voice rang in her head. She could never get used to her voice, no matter how long they have been aware of each other. "No, I haven't forgotten anything." She dismissed as she got into her car.
"Are you sure about that? I think you have forgotten something." IA continued and Miku frowned deeply. "I haven't forgotten anything." She repeated.
"Yes, you have."
"No, I haven't." Miku insisted with irritation and she started the car. "Even if I did, what's so important that I would forget about it?"
"Perhaps your bag for example." IA deadpanned. Miku paused at that and realized...she was right. Miku awkwardly opened her car door and stepped out, briskly walking back to the house to grab her things.
"You really are hopeless, aren't you?" IA sighed heavily in the resides of her mind. Miku huffed as she moved out of the house with her back at hand. "Well, excuse me for being human." Miku groaned while mentally adding. 'Something you wouldn't understand.'
She heard IA scoff loudly. Perhaps she had read her thoughts but Miku ignored it as she tossed her bag onto the passenger seat and strapped herself with the seat belt. She drove her car onto the road and down the street. There was silence of a moment before Miku spoke up. "Hey." She began. "What exactly are you?"
"Oh? This is the first time you spoke to me first. How flattering." IA snickered, much to Miku's irritation. "Just answer the question." She sneered and IA chuckled.
"As usual you have such a short attention span. I have already told you that I am you."
"You can't be me. We are nothing alike."
"Just because we don't look or act alike does not mean I am not you." IA said. "I was born inside your mind. I have been hidden within the depths of your mind for a long time, it was only recently that I decided to show myself."
"That can't be true." Miku protested. "Oh believe it, my dear." IA responded. "I have been within your mind for a very long time. You just never seem to notice it."
"If that is true...Then why did you sudden appear in front of me that time." Miku questioned. She heard IA hum with her mind. "Well, I never had the chance. Your mind pushed me away deep into your consciousness and I didn't have the strength to get out. It was like being trapped in a cage." IA explained. "That was until that night...The night you saw that blue haired lover of yours with someone, I was given an opening and I managed to escape."
Miku fell silent at that. The memory of that night was still fresh in her mind as though it was just yesterday. The pain. The sorrow. She remember the way her heart broke when she saw the person she love cheat on her.
"Well in a way..." IA mused. "I should probably thank that pathetic man. If it weren't for him, I would never be able to escape from your mind- the place I call a prison, and be here with you. Truly, I should be grateful."
"Shut up." Miku growled, gripping the steering wheel tightly. "I don't want to hear another word from you and I don't want you to call Kaito-kun that."
"What? Its true isn't it?" IA scoffed. "He is a pathetic man. He has looks but lacks talent. I have researched about him and I must say, his working performance isn't the most impressive."
"You did what?!" Miku exclaimed. "What do you mean you researched about him?!"
"Miku, did you honestly think I wouldn't look up on your beloved?" IA said in a mocking tone. "A young man working in a large company. He has an average working performance but the ladies in the company seem to have their eyes on him. For a man, who doesn't have a big name in his company he is quite good in getting attention with the ladi-"
Screeeech!
Miku stomped onto the brakes, causing the wheels to scream at the sudden action. "Enough!" She yelled. "I don't want to hear anymore of that!"
There was a pause within the car before IA snorted and began to giggle madly. "What? You still can't handle it? Its been months since you figured out his true character and yet still want to hid away from the truth? You're pathetic as well."
Miku gritted her teeth as she gripped the steering wheel even more. There are times she wished she didn't talk to IA or even listen to her at all. She wished she could just ignore her and be at peace but the world just wouldn't let her.
"I don't want to hear anymore from you." Miku grunted as she continued to drive once more. "Well, I do apologize if I had insulted you so early in the morning. " IA said in a sardonic tone. "But I am merely telling you the facts of how things are. I wouldn't want to give you false hope and lie to you."
"Just shut up." Miku huffed as she drove into the school grounds and pulled up on a parking spot. "Well, it is your choice to believe me or not. I would be wasting my breath if I try convincing you since we both know you'd never listen to me about this, even though the proof has been staring right at you everyday." IA mused.
Miku snorted as she got out of her car. "Whatever." She grumbled. "I just...want a nice long rest from you and your sharp tongue. I think I deserve that."
"Whatever you say, Miku. Whatever you say." IA sighed. Miku grunted as she locked her car and walked up to her school. The college has been a little cautious lately due to the happenings taken place in the town but when IA decided to pause her killing spree, the atmosphere has lifted a bit.
Miku walked into her classroom silently and sat down in the very back of the room. She planned to just relax and take in the peace and quiet. One of the joys when being in college is that the classrooms aren't so crowded unlike when she was high school, therefore she had enough air to breath.
"Its pretty quiet in this classroom." IA commented, breaking Miku's peace. "I like it this way." Miku whispered with an irritated look.
"I think I prefer it noisy and buzzing with gossip." IA said. "I like to hear people gossiping about my work. It brings a beautiful sense of accomplishment."
"Well, I hate that." Miku let out an irritated grunt. "It gives me a headache and it distresses me."
"That's what makes it better." IA snickered. "I enjoy watching you squirm around. Its hilarious."
"Shut up. Don't talk to me." Miku growled and IA hummed.
"Hmmm, feisty aren't you? When we first met, you looked like a scared little kitten. Completely defenseless and scared. It was adorable but I guess in a way, I like your current attitude too. Gives me more of a challenge and I like challenges." IA snickered.
Miku huffed and was about to say something when a voice suddenly cut in.
"Miku-san." Miku looked up to see Len smiling awkwardly at her. "Well, well, well!" IA chuckled. "If it isn't the little puppy. Has he come to sniff after your heels again?"
Miku ignored IA and smiled warily at Len. "O-Oh, hey Len." She greeted. Len then sheepishly scratched the back of his head. "Um Hi so...how are you doing Miku-san?" He shyly asked.
Miku shrugged lightly. "I'm doing fine. I'm managed to...catch up with some sleep." She said. Len smiled. "Well, that's good to hear." He said, looking embarrassed. Miku couldn't help but smile slightly but it immediately dropped when she heard IA remark.
"Well, your little friend is adorable." IA cackled. "I could easily picture him with a collar and a pair of dog ears on his head...or perhaps he's interested in that kind of play."
"You're disgusting..." Miku muttered to herself as her face twisted to a look of disgust. "Did you say something?" Len asked curiously. Miku looked back to him with a nervous smile. "I-It's nothing Len." She laughed awkwardly. "So by the way, do you need something? You looked like you wanted to say something a moment ago."
"Oh well..." Len began, scratching his head sheepishly. "I um...I was wondering if you uhh want to hang out with me and Rin for lunch. I mean...lately you've trying to avoid us and such so um if you aren't busy..."
Miku blinked and looked down at her table with a guilty expression on her face. She knew she made Rin and Len worry about her. She hadn't been herself for about a few months now because of the stress and fatigue she had gone through after...that night so she understood how worried the twins were...
"Of course I'm free." Miku smiled. "I miss having lunch with you guys so of course I'd go."
"Really?" Len said in surprise before he grinned. "Well that's great! I'll go and tell Rin about it."
Miku smiled and nodded. "Yeah, you should."
Riiiing
The bell rung loudly, signalling that class was about to start. "I should get going." Len said. "Rin might be looking for me so...I'll see you later."
Miku nodded. "Yeah, see ya." She waved goodbye as Len left the classroom. She heard IA chuckled lowly in the depths of her mind. "A cute little thing isn't he?"
"Be quiet." Miku groaned as she began fixing up her things for class. "All I'm saying is that the boy has quite the appeal to him. He is rather good looking, a little bit shy but I think that what makes him adorable."
"Why can't you shut up for just one day?" Miku groaned and IA cackled. "Sweetheart, I have been silent for an entire day. Be happy that I have given you that opportunity one time."
Miku snorted but didn't respond. What's the point in wasting her energy on her? She was just entertaining this murderer even more.
The morning went by rather quickly for Miku. IA would still make a few remarks here and there, and Miku would simply ignore her the best she could. The bell rang loudly in the college, signalling lunch break.
Miku stood up and was quietly fixing up her things as the students left the room to get some lunch.
"Well, that was kinda boring." IA commented. Miku didn't respond as she picked up her bag and began to leave the room to meet up with her friends. "Oh? Are you really going to ignore me the whole day?" IA snorted. "As if you can."
Miku was just silent as she stepped onto the hallway. She immediately spotted the two blonds who were talking to each other. Rin glanced over to the side and her attention was immediately pulled towards her. Rin grinned widely and waved at her energetically while Len turned over to her and smiled sheepishly.
Miku smiled and waved back as she approached the twins. "Hey guys." She greeted. "Hey Miku!" Rin exclaimed as she skipped towards her and grabbed Miku by the arm. "Geez, its been awhile since the three of us got together."
Miku smiled apologetically. "I'm really sorry." She said and looked over to Len then smiled. Len blinked and grinned awkwardly at her. Miku could hear IA cackle in her mind but ignored it. "So what do you guys have in mind for today?" She asked as they began walking down the hallway.
"I was thinking we could go out and have some lunch." Rin suggested. "I know this one place where they serve awesome food!"
Len then snorted. "And who is going to pay for it?" Len immediately knew the answer when Rin turned to him with a grin he knew all too well. "I don't have the money to pay for your bottomless pit of a stomach, Rin."
"Ehhh~ But you have more money than me."
"That's because I have a part time job and our parents give me an allowance."
"No fair! Mom and Dad always give you more money than me!"
"Maybe if you knew how to handle your money better they would give you more. For example, not wasting your allowance on week's worth of oranges?"
"Hey! They were having an awesome sale at the time! How could I resist such a perfect opportunity!"
Miku giggled softly as she watched the twins bicker with each other. She had really missed hanging out with her friends. Ever since IA appeared in her life, she had grown fatigued and depressed with the recent murders IA had been committing. She couldn't stand her at all.
"What a cute scenery." IA suddenly remarked, breaking Miku's thoughts. "I wonder how long will this last."
'As long as possible if you stop talking so much.' Miku mentally sneered and IA cackled. "I've been silent for a very, very long time when I was trapped in your subconscious. I had no one to talk to for so long that I got bored easily."
Miku huffed while IA continued to laugh haughtily. "Well, I guess I could give you a break during the day for now." IA chuckled. "After all...your nights are mine for the taking."
Miku gritted her teeth at that. She hated to admit it but...she was right. The moment she falls asleep, she can't do anything at all. It disturbed her at the thought of someone using her body so freely without her knowing. The thought sent chills down her spine as she winced ever so slightly.
"Oi Miku!" Miku snapped out of her thoughts as she heard a familiar voice call out. Rin and Len were already halfway down the hallway and Rin waved her over. "What are you standing there for? Come on before we leave you!"
"H-Hey! Wait up!" Miku then chased after them. Well, despite the hardships she had to go through...for now, she should just forget about it ever for a moment...
"I didn't think she would really ignore me the entire day." IA thought out loud as she lazily swirled her drink in her hand. She didn't feel displeased or annoyed at this but she did bored since Miku refused to speak with her. Well, she wasn't surprised that Miku would chose to ignore her after everything.
It didn't bother her but what bothered her was how boring it was watching her daily life. No excitement, no thrills. It was so...quiet.
IA scoffed as she leaned forward on the bar counter and took a sip of her drink. She then look at the wristwatch she took from Miku's drawer. That guy should be arriving right about...
"Sorry for the wait." IA looked over to the side to see Kaito smirking at her. "I hope I didn't make you wait too long." IA suddenly had this urge to wipe that cocky grin off his face but she smiled at him. "No, I wasn't waiting for too long." She said.
Kaito then took a seat beside her and smiled. "To be honest, I didn't think you'd really show up again." He said as he signaled the bartender and asked for the same drink as hers. IA smiled. "Well, I can't resist wanting to meet up with a handsome young man." She said, taking another sip of her drink.
"So you think I'm handsome." Kaito smirked confidently as he leaned towards her. IA turned to him with a similar look. "I think you're aware of that already." She said, mirroring his action. "But...I don't know much about what's behind that handsome face of yours."
"Well if you must know..." Kaito began. "I work in one of the best companies here in japan and I can do anything I want."
It was honestly a simply description. From the way he looked, he seemed confident that she'd be interested in an instant just by the word 'best'. Did he really think women were that easy?
IA mentally sighed and smiled widely. "Is that so?" She said, cupping her cheek and leaned towards him with a seemingly interested look. "Tell me more."
Kaito seemed to relish at this and happily began to talk more about himself which IA was already aware of. She was slowly losing interest in listening to this narcissistic man talk. It was getting boring by the second.
"So have you ever considered my offer?" Kaito suddenly asked. IA turned to Kaito with a polite smile. "Hm?"
"You know...about me showing you around town." Kaito said, reaching towards IA's hand and lightly squeezing it. IA's expression for a second, darkened but she then smiled. "Thank you but we just met yesterday and it would be awfully inconvenient for me if someone happens."
"Come on, you can trust me." Kaito said, moving ever so slightly closer to her. "I won't do anything bad so trust me a little bit."
IA dropped her smile. "Sorry but..." She pulled her hand away. "If you honestly think I'm that kind of person then no, I'm not that easy of a girl for you to...'help' in such a way."
IA stood up and was about to leave when a hand suddenly grabbed her wrist. She turned and coldly looked down Kaito. "Wait." He said. "I'm sorry. Don't misunderstand. I didn't mean to make you feel like that."
IA didn't respond and stared at Kaito who gave a slightly wary smile. "To make it up to you by buying you dinner?" He suggested. IA's expression didn't change. "Perhaps another time..." She said, shaking his hand off her. Just as she was really going to leave, Kaito moved quickly and immediately blocked her way to the door.
"I'm serious Planetes-san." Kaito began. "I really didn't mean to offend you or anything like that. That's why I want to make it up to you." IA raised a brow at him and hummed. "Really now..." She uttered and Kaito nodded.
IA was silent for a moment before she slowly smiled at him. "Alright, if you truly want to do that for me." She said. Kaito sighed and smiled as well. "Well, that's good then. I know this one place we could go-"
"But not right now, Shion-san." IA cut in. Kaito visibly stiffened at that. "Huh?"
"Well, I appreciate the gesture but I only came here for a drink." IA said. "I don't really plan to go any further than that."
Kaito frowned and was about to say something when IA raised a hand. "But..." She began. "If you're willing to meet each other again tomorrow night...maybe I will let you take me out to dinner."
Kaito was surprised by this but then he smirked. "Alright then, Planetes-san." He said and offered her his hand as though he wanted to give a handshake to her. "Its a deal then."
IA glanced down at his hand then back at him before she slowly reach out for it. But instead of a handshake, Kaito brought her hand to his lips like he did the other night with a confident smirk. "I'll see you tomorrow night then."
IA nodded and smiled before she lightly traced his hand in a ghostly touch and left with Kaito staring after her. She walked of the bar and down the busy streets. She was silent as the street buzzed with all sorts of noises. She then paused and stared into the distance with an irritated frown on her delicate face.
That was easy...perhaps too easy. IA was aware of Kaito's nature. He was the type who couldn't stand it when a girl he sets his eyes on decides to just brush him off. She knew he was like that. It was just too predictable, too simple...
And it was boring.
So boring.
'So, very, very boring...' IA thought as she gritted her teeth. She hated this type of boredom. It was just too quiet. Not ever the noise polluted streets to get rid of this kind of quiet. She need a thrill, a taste of exhilaration. Some to get rid of this bored feeling.
She glanced over her shoulder, towards the bar to see the doors open and Kaito stepping out but he wasn't alone. A young woman clung to his arm and a drunk grin on her face. She looked at Kaito with drunken glee while Kaito smiled down at the woman before walking off to the opposite direction to IA's.
'He works fast.' IA thought. It hadn't been 10 minutes since she left the bar and already Kaito had a woman eating at the palm of his hands. She wasn't sure whether she should be impressed or just plain disgusted.
IA stared after them in silence before the corner of her lips began to slowly curl upwards into a wicked smile. "Looks like break time's over." She muttered to herself and stretched. Her eyes began to glow with excitement as she grinned. "Let's get back to work."
IA giggled and began to walk into the sea of people. Looks like she won't be bored after all.

A/N: Hellooo my dear readers! Its been such a long time since I last updated this thing. I've been so, so busy with my life that I'm simply exhausted! But hopefully, I'll be able to update on my other stories soon which is a pretty good thing right?
Well just an important note: I have rewritten some things on the previous chapters to either put in more detail or to change some things all together. You can go back and read some of them (though its more like I added more detail rather than change)
I have changed a few things like lessen the number of people IA had murdered since 11 seemed like a huge number even in a realistic view so I lowered it just a bit.
Anyways there is a lot more things to tell but unfortunately there isn't much time for me to tell them all. I hope you enjoyed this chapter anyways and pls review to this chapter when you have the time to tell me your thoughts.
Well that's it for now so until the next chapter, Farewell!
