Gibbs, Tony, and Kate rushed through the hospital in Norfolk a few hours later. They could hear screaming as soon as they stepped into ICU.

"You really are a pathetic piece of garbage, aren't you?" Sarah asked scathingly.

"Don't you talk to me that way! I'm your father!" John McGee screamed.

"No, you're my sperm donor! There's a difference!" Sarah yelled. This was her second wind since she'd found her father parents in her brother's room. She went after him when it first happened too, but then became concerned about Tim's condition.

"That's Sarah," Tony said as he quickened his pace. He wasn't going to let the young girl get hurt. They all knew that Admiral McGee was capable of that.

"Why would you even come here? We both know you don't give a damn about Tim. What is that you want?"

"Of course we care about Tim, Sarah. He's our son."

"Don't even go there, Karen. He stopped being yours the day you let this bastard beat him to a pulp!" Sarah yelled. She refused to even address this woman as her mother. As far as she was concerned, she didn't have a mother. The only family that mattered to her was Tim and her grandmother.

"I'm warning you, Sarah. You will show us respect!" John yelled.

"Or what? You gonna take a swing at me. Please, take your best shot," Sarah goaded.

Tony was the first to make it to Sarah and he immediately pulled her away from the Admiral. "Hey. Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm not afraid of him," Sarah said as she sent her father a fierce death glare.

Gibbs, meanwhile, got into the Admiral's face. "You must really have a death wish, McGee."

John glared at him. "It's a mistake to threaten me, Gibbs!"

"You're got no business here," Kate said.

"He's my son. I have every right to see him," John said.

"Like hell you do!" Gibbs yelled before grabbing him and pushing him against the wall. "You listen to me, you son of a bitch! You ever go near that young man again and I will make sure you never walk straight again! Stay the hell away from him!"

"Hey!"

Everyone stopped and turned to see Tim's doctor with an irritated look on his face. Gibbs immediately released the Admiral and turned to the doctor.

"What the hell do you people think you're doing? This is a hospital! Displays like this are a danger to our patients!" Doctor Mackey lectured.

Gibbs went over to him. "What happened to my agent?"

Doctor Mackey sighed. "His blood pressure skyrocketed and it caused his heart to stop again."

"Is he okay?" Tony asked.

"We got him back."

Gibbs glowered over at McGee Sr. One way or another, this was his doing. "Is this something that just happened or was it initiated by someone?"

"If you're asking if foul play was involved, I don't think so. All the machines were undisturbed. Look, incidents like this are not unexpected. The fact of the matter is that Agent McGee's condition is as critical as it comes. The fact that he's still hanging on is a miracle, but it's one I don't expect to continue for long," Doctor Mackey said.

Gibbs chose to ignore the last comment. "I want him transferred as soon as possible to Bethesda Naval Hospital in Washington DC. I want him where I can make sure he's safe."

"Out of the question. He would never survive such a transfer," Doctor Mackey said.

"I think I covered that with 'as soon as possible', Doc," Gibbs said. He knew McGee couldn't safely be moved now, but he wanted it to happen when it could. He could have McGee better protected at Bethesda. He could certainly get there a lot sooner should something like this ever happen again. "In the meantime, I want these people kept as far away as possible. They're not to be involved in any decisions regarding his care," he said as he pointed to the McGees.

"They're his family, aren't they?" the doctor asked.

"No, they're suspects," Gibbs said.

"We would never hurt our son," Karen said.

Gibbs ignored her and stepped towards McGee's room. He glared a the agent standing just outside it. "You and I are gonna have a chat about you actually doing your damn job later."

The agent swallowed and nodded.

Gibbs walked into the room and went over to the young agent's side and sat down. McGee looked exactly the same as the last time he'd seen him, though that wasn't surprising. He was still bandaged almost from head to toe and he was breathing through the tubes coming out of his mouth. The sounds of the machines were the only sounds coming from the room.

Gibbs leaned forward to talk to the younger, unconscious man. "Hey. I know what happened. I know why you got so upset that it nearly killed you. A father like that is bound to raise your blood pressure. But whatever he said to you, don't listen to him. He's a liar and worthless bastard. Don't pay him any attention."

Obviously there was no response.

"I know what he did to you. I know how he hurt you and I wanna promise you something. I'm not in the habit of making promises because I refuse to ever break one, but this is a promise I will make and keep. He will never hurt you again. I swear to God that I will not let him hurt you. I won't get anywhere near you again!". Gibbs promised fiercely.

From the corner of his eye, Gibbs could swear he saw McGee's hand move. He looked down and sure enough, he saw the agent's fingers move just slightly. He smiled. The doctors would probably say it didn't mean anything, but Gibbs knew in his gut that it did. It meant that McGee was in there somewhere and that he heard him.
