A New Day
5 Weeks Later...
"Next!" Jasmine and Shaw said simultaneously.
"Come on guys, that was like the fifth dress!" Joss sighed as she slumped her shoulders forward.
"It's not our fault you don't have any sexier dresses," Jasmine laughed.
"I second that," Shaw replied as she bit into her apple.
Joss looked between both Jasmine and Shaw as they sat on her bed judging her wardrobe.
"But, I don't have any more dresses," Joss complained as moved back to her closet.
"Well, it sounds like we're going shopping," Jasmine said as she stood up and stretched.
"Do I have to? Can't I just wear something I already have?" Joss grumbled.
"I don't know; let's ask the audience," Shaw stated as put her fingers between her lips and whistled loudly.
Joss shook her head as she heard the pitter patter of feet and dog tags come running up the stairs and down the hall.
Joss laughed as a ball of white fur came barreling into her room.
"Really Shaw, so you're going to ask my dog if I should go shopping?" Joss rolled her eyes as she watched Artemis jump up on her bed and lay down in between Jasmine and Shaw.
"Yep. So Artemis, do you think your mommy should buy a new dress to impress John on her date tomorrow night?" Shaw asked as she rubbed Artemis's head.
Joss rolled her eyes as Artemis let out a quick howl at the mention of John's name.
"Eh you traitor" Joss responded in mock hurt.
"So, its settled; we're going shopping! Hurry up and get ready JoJo; shopping always makes me hungry. In the meantime, I'm raiding your snacks cabinet." Jasmine replied as she got up and made her way to the kitchen followed by Shaw.
Joss sighed as she turned to look back at Artemis. She smiled as she remembered the day she added the new addition to her family
3 Weeks Earlier...
"Joss, are you sure about this?" John asked as he sat in the animal shelter with her.
"John, for the last time, yes. I already filled out the paperwork. First of all she's absolutely precious, second Taylor loves the idea, and lastly she needs a good home and people to love her, you read the vet's report on her condition. Besides I think she really likes me, Fusco told me she stayed at the scene after I got hurt until animal control came and got her." Joss stated as she played with the leash in her hand.
"I know, but her previous owner was a psychopath who tried to kidnap you using her as bait." John argued as he shoved his hands into his sweatshirt pocket.
"I'm not going to hold a dog accountable for what Stevens did or tried to do to me John. Besides you're one to talk; didn't you 'adopt' Bear from a bunch a KKK members?" Joss fired back as she elbowed him in the side.
"Aryan Brotherhood members," John corrected with a smile.
Joss rolled her eyes. "Whatever. Same thing. And I'm getting this dog, end of discussion."
Present
Joss's smile turned into a laugh as she rubbed Artemis's belly "I know you only agreed with Shaw because she brings your boyfriend over with her. You ain't slick."
Joss giggled when Artemis rubbed her muzzle with her paws "Speaking of your boyfriend it looks like you'll be seeing him today since I have to go shopping. Knowing Jasmine i will be there all day so I guess you'll get to spend the whole day with Bear."
As soon as she said Bear's name, Joss watched as Artemis darted off her bed and down the hallway. By the time Joss grabbed her wallet and made it down the stairs, Artemis already had her leash in her mouth and was sitting by the door.
