Another year passed; from this point the signs of the deadly virus were inevitable. It was difficult for the boy to swallow down his food, at the table he displayed fits of aggression because he was hungry yet he knew how much it hurt to eat. This behavior was becoming too much for the robots to bear, not mad but disappointed in themselves for not being able to find the strength for any better assurance. It was also difficult to work under these conditions, separate incidences involving his tremendous coughing stirred up the other animals, kicking and scampering, leaving bruise marks as well as anger on his body.

His ignorance from his failure left him saddened, WALL-E consoled his trembling heart the best he could. EVE languished for months on end to kill this deadly disease, but it would never forget about who it was fighting for, for its human, for its counterpart, for its family.

Once again the boy was bed ridden until EVE and its companions were successful. The boy was left in the comfort of his guardians and his little black goat, now a full grown animal with an almost severe case of laziness, nonetheless it continued to love the human. Each time he went into deep convulsions the goat would be there to lay its warm head on his aching chest, despite this annoying illness the human was grateful to have these lovable organisms standing by his side.

Summer was new in a vibrant spots of green and brown, the robots kept on with their human's education. He was now a fluent reader, whenever a new word popped out in his books EVE would process it then output the definition in a monotonous explanation, a robotic force of habit. WALL-E sought many books with all the numbered pages then bring them back for the boy to read to them at night, in the comfort of his room, but throughout the day he would bide his reading time with his best friend.

Though he was an apt reader, it was to his own brain capability that he could only say words that were written down in any format, but he couldn't synthesize words to express himself verbally. It was only through books that he was able to speak.

"'Most people are, 'Scout, when you finally see them,'" he read the final verses of the book in his hands "'He turned out the light and went into Jem's room. He would be there all night, and he would be there when Jem waked up in the morning,'"

With that the book was turned over, WALL-E and EVE stood at the side of his bed holding each other's arms, WALL-E then discarded the book in his compartment. EVE gently tucked him in for the night right after a warm glass of milk, it clicked off his lamp and unset his alarm. WALL-E was careful to set a blanket around the restful little goat, the two meant a lot to them. EVE sparked a short current in the frizzes of his hair as a warm gesture of goodnight, the boy responded likewise by kissing the side of EVE's head.

WALL-E turned on the stereo to a low tune and played a soft song.

Are You Lonesome Tonight

Elvis Presley

The kind robot then held his arm gently with both hands.

"Good-night," WALL-E hummed.

The boy smiled, and as it made its way out the door the boy worked up the courage to speak the words needed.

"I, love, you,"

WALL-E turned around to gaze at him. Slowly his eyes began to shut tight, until tomorrow.

This truly was the night for everyone, as WALL-E descended down the stairs to meet up with its wife, EVE looked profusely at all the studies that they conducted; soon it was clear to it that they would find a positive cure by tomorrow. EVE met its counterpart with a hug; together they knew their happiness was saved at last.

The next morning they were planning on going to the labs together and have the boy wait on them in the comfort of his room. Before they departed they peeked into his room to admire the two living organisms still asleep, carefully stepping in to present him his tray of breakfast at the foot of his bed. Quietly they left, hoping he would still be asleep by the time they came back with the cure.

Slowly closing the entrance to ensure the quiet of the house, soon they were on their way.

The boy woke up with convulsions, nonetheless he finished the breakfast that WALL-E and EVE prepared for him. Before dressing himself, he went down the stairs to greet his favorite robots, searching around the house in every room to find them. Next he came into the room where EVE worked on the virus' analysis, out of curiosity he looked through the papers to see what they were all about. So far nothing sparked his interest until he came across the words he recognized, certain words like virus and side-effects; including the description underneath them.

As he read on it began to dawn on him the type of 'virus' and 'symptoms' that seemed to define what he was experiencing. The more knowledge he gained the more he realized that this was the very something that he had growing inside him, and when it came down to 'death' he was unable to react.

His only instinctive reaction was to aimlessly wander around the house; his knees were weak to a point where he almost dragged himself to move about. Out of nowhere his hysteria led him into the living room, there he looked at the many photos of the children that used to live here, he looked at the names, the very names that were matched on the papers he read. Suddenly it was all clear to him, that soon he himself would be another victim before his loved ones.

Tears welled out of his eyes, through ignorant actions flurrying in his head he ran into the kitchen, skimming through the utensils to find and take out a carving knife. Next he opened the entrance and ran away from home as fast as he could go.

WALL-E and EVE arrived hours later at the house, to their surprise the entrance was opened. They went inside to discover that the boy wasn't in his room, only the goat, next they checked all over the house and farm. He just couldn't be found. Soon they began to worry, together they went to searching for him.

They wouldn't falter to search everywhere, including into neighboring shelters. The other robots caught on to their worried faces and decided to help them find the missing child. The more they searched the more help they accumulated, but still nothing.

Every robot of whatever size and function wouldn't cease to help track down their friend. From a distance it all appeared to be distorted entropy of insects without a queen, not knowing what to do next, the numbers grew and grew and grew, if something wouldn't happen to set order then something terrible would soon transpire. The robots bumped into each other without reasoning, primarily only paying attention to what was important now.

This magnificent scene sparked fear into WALL-E and EVE, afraid for the safety of their human and themselves. They drew in all possible options until they were down to their last one; they decided to take upon it.

WALL-E and EVE arrived to the plains that led up to the mountain of caves where WALL-E originally found the human. As a last option they decided to search them all one by one no matter the cost.

Deep within one there was a puddle of tears seeping through the cracks. This sad organism curled up in its own fears continued to fade, then suddenly it heard noises from the neighboring caves. Working up the strength to find its legs and walk away in fear, pretty soon it was running to escape the sounds. Until it fell across junky materials left by a previous settlement, unknowingly looking through them, finding nothing more than a withered out blanket and a frame of a man, a woman, and a baby in their arms.

However the noise made it through the cave where he was located in, the more it grew the more frightful he became. A distant buzzing, a humming sound, then shadows creeping in the sunlit walls, each one speeding up the rhythm of his heart. Without thought and without consent to anything the boy drew the knife and went to stabbing himself repetitively, with each beat came a thrust on his soul until his heart grew faint, and the knife came down with it.

The noisy figures finally came into perspective, WALL-E and EVE couldn't believe the horrible sight in front of them, an innocent breathing body covered in its own life.

WALL-E removed the frame, inspecting the picture, it was a photo of the very man and woman that once lived with them, in their arms was a baby.

EVE fearfully but gently picked up the boy in its gentle arms. The expression of a mother and its own flesh and blood spewing out. It continued to look at the boy this way. Unexpectedly and out of nowhere he was able to breathe the only word his blood stained mouth would allow him.

"Mommy,"

EVE moved his head to meet hers, WALL-E did the same.

"Daddy," he was able to breathe once more.

It was suddenly clear to WALL-E and EVE what type of love they found, what type of love they grew together, a son, a family.
