Sam collapses on his bed after another hard practice. Last week the junior varsity team finished their season and Sam was asked to move up to the varsity soccer team for the rest of the varsity season since they've lost a few players to injuries. The upcoming weekend was one of the biggest varsity tournaments of the season, and the coach was working his players harder than he has all season. Sam had to work twice as hard as the other players just to keep up and he was exhausted.

The players had welcomed him as one of their own, well except for one player, fellow freshman Gabriel Novak. Gabriel didn't speak to him all week, but surprisingly, he didn't bother him either, like Sam expected him to, since he's a Novak and all. That was, until today after practice. Sam thought Gabriel was going to make some joke, at his expense, when Gabriel approached him in the locker room, but instead, he just gave him some tips that would help him improve and keep up during practice. It shocked Sam, but he was glad, and just hoped Gabriel would stay nice and not turn into a jerk like his siblings.

Sam is brought out of his thoughts when Dean barges into his room. Dean slams the door behind him and plops down on Sam's bed.

"Ever heard of knocking?"

Dean shrugs his question off. "You know what Bobby did? He assigned Raphael to stay after training with me from now on to show me the workouts! Freaking Novak of all people! He could have made anyone else do it, but no!"

"Well maybe next time you'll actually think before getting yourself detention during winter training." Sam smirks.

Dean glares at Sam before sighing and staring at the ceiling. "Why couldn't it have been anyone else? Bobby knows we don't get along-"

"Which is probably why he chose Raphael. Bobby probably just wants you two to get along."

"Well, we're never going to get along. He hates me!"

"Because you broke Anna's heart." Dean winces as he remembers. "In a really douchey way, by the way. So he's definitely not going to like you, at least not if you don't try to get along with him first."

"I've tried to get along with the Novaks! But it doesn't work and it never will. So take my advice, don't get involved with a Novak, Sammy. It'll just end badly."

Sam thinks back to how Gabriel gave him tips earlier, and has never made fun of him. "…I'm sure they're not all bad," he mumbles.

Dean looks at his little brother. "Trust me, they are. And if they're acting nice, run the other way because it means they're up to something. Us Winchesters have never gotten along with the Novaks and the one time I tried to, I ended up making it worse. So just stay away, Sammy."

Before Sam can even come up with a response, Dean's phone goes off letting him know he has a text. Dean digs his phone out of his pocket and smiles, without realizing it, when he sees that the text is from Cas. He starts typing out a response.

"If you're going to text your boyfriend and smile like an idiot, go do it in your own room."

Dean stops typing long enough to glance at Sam, his happy smile still on his face. He stands and walks out of the room without another word to Sam besides calling out bitch once he walks out. Sam rolls his eyes and calls out jerk before closing his door. Sam grabs his backpack and sits down to do his homework, but for some reason his thoughts drift to what Dean said about the Novaks.

Dean and Cas finally exchanged phone numbers. Well actually, Dean stole Cas' phone after school and put his number in, hoping Cas would text, or would want to text, him after school. To his delight, Cas did text him and they spent all of Wednesday evening texting, only pausing when Mary made Dean put his phone away during dinner.

They talked about everything, from school to their families (which Cas had put to a stop almost immediately after the topic was brought) to everything in between. Dean was so distracted by texting Cas that he didn't even touch his homework, though he didn't plan to anyway since he hated all the classes that gave homework. They texted until after midnight before they both went to bed. Dean slept amazingly, dreaming about his upcoming date with Cas, while Cas' sleep was plagued with nightmares.

Castiel drives home from studying late at the coffee house with Samandriel. Its almost 9 at night, so he expects the house to be empty since his mom works from 4pm until after midnight. Cas parks in the driveway and opens the garage. He's surprised to see his mom's car when the garage opens and is even more surprised when he realizes the car is running. Exhaust that had been building up in the closed garage blows out and exits the garage, blinding Cas briefly as he realizes what's happening.

"Mom!" Cas runs into the garage and coughs from the car fumes. He runs to the car and sees Rebecca Collins unconscious inside the car. He bangs on the window when he can't get inside the car. He searches the garage and grabs a hammer from a toolbox and shatters the window. He starts shaking his mom as tears form in his eyes. "Mom! Mom!"

When she doesn't respond, he pulls out his cell phone and calls 9-1-1 as he checks for a pulse. He starts panicking and his tears fall when he doesn't find a pulse. He screams the address into the phone before hanging up and pulling her out of the car. He tries CPR but none of it works. The next minutes go by in a blur and the next thing he remembers is being pulled away by a few cops, so the EMTS can get to work, and screaming for his mom and for the paramedics to save her. He watches, crying, as the paramedics call her death and then everything goes black.

If anyone else has any opinions on who Sam should end up with, I'd love to hear them! Please review and Thanks for Reading! :)
